One headcanon that I have that affects basically nothing at all is that if Crowpaw hadn't given himself the name Crowfeather, he would've been named Crowfoot

If you accept that his parents were Ashfoot and Deadfoot, then I think it would've been funny.

I think it's really funny to imagine that when Tallstar learned that Ashfoot and Deadfoot were having kits, he just went "Oh yeah, I know what suffix I'm going to use" and that he was at least mildly disappointed when Crowfeather chose his own name

people who harp and slander leafpool for wanting to be the only one to name her kits is astonishing to me. leafpool is a character who is shown to have an undying love for her children and wants strongly to be their mother and raise them, is forced into a position where she has to give them up and watch from the sidelines. a character who has to give her kits to her sister, someone who time and time again has shown she doesn’t even want to raise these kits. a character who has almost no support and no one she can grieve over this choice to, other then her sister. a character who is forced to sit on the sidelines and watch from a far as her children are raised by her sister and has to them mentor two of them and can’t ever act motherly or affectionate in a way that wouldn’t pass off as mentor-apprentice affection. all she does is want to be the only one to name her kits and to this fandom thats asking too much and is “rude to squirrelflight.”

Harestar gets sick- too sick. He has been sick for many many moons and has lost 3 lives to it already.

Crowfeather is worried about his mate. Grief struck, he takes control as leader so Hare can heal, though instead of appointing Breezepelt/talon as his deputy, he mates Heathertail. (Harestar ends up retiring with 3 lives left by the time he gets over his sickness. Windclan is struck cold by how such a healthy leader could have gotten so sick and Crowfeather becomes Crowstar. Having 7 lives instead of 9, which he doesn’t mind as he would rather have his mate live healthy now, then have 9 lives and him dead)
