Never Have I Ever written a dance scene

Oh Have I Ever. Hahahaha I love this ask, thank you.

The longest, most ornate, completely self-indulgent dance scene I've ever written was in Tripartite (FFXV). That entire thing is self-indulgence in a can, but that scene particularly so. It's Ignis watching Ravus and Aranea dance, and realizing he's hot for them both. 💕

I also wrote a tender little scene in my first ever longfic, where Aranea shows Ignis a dance step he doesn't know. They kiss, and I have art of it. (The Dragon's Dagger) (The Art)

I've also written:

Nyx hating having to go to a fancy party until he realizes Ignis is there

Claude and Lorenz dancing together secretly at a masquerade, and then having sexytimes on a balcony

Android stripper Lorenz entertaining Claude in a little club in the Gamma Sector

There's more but that's a good sampling! I love when characters dance together--I love fancy outfits and music and movement and little touches. It's delicious and wonderful and I'm so glad you asked!

Self Promotion Sunday

My crossover AU, Dragonscourge, is complete. 10. A ship in your fandom you love (that does not include your muse)?

The whole cast w/ happiness ashdasjdhasjkdas. 

On a more serious note, LuNyx and CrowNyx are pretty cute and ngl I miss my Nyx, LuNoct has potential?? altho I haven’t gotten too far into the game to actually see them interact but also c c c ute tho. I’m a bit eeeehhhhh on the Chocobros ships that don’t include Prom bc I never took an interest in them separately? They are nice but not really my thing. 

Platonic Nyx / Crowe / Lib bc they’ve got an amazing friendship and I’m still mad that they killed Crowe off so easily. 

I’m leaning more platonic but Nyx and Noct too. It’s canon that Nyx interacted w/ Noct so they do know each other. Let Nyx tell Noct stories of his missions and whatnot. 

The Chocobros actually befriending Cindy beside her being their mechanic!! I feel like so much could have been done w/ this instead of forcing the crush Prom apparently has on her. 

Aranea and Ignis is also an interesting combo especially since, from what I’ve read, in-game Ignis steps in front of her to shield her or helps her in other ways when you have her in your party. 

11. A ship in your fandom that you dislike (that does not include your muse)?

Here’s,,,, the thing. I don’t dislike ships. I’m indifferent about them @ best. And tbh the only one that rubs me wrong is Prom and Cindy bc it feels so goddamn forced / in your face that it’s hard to believe that it’s actually a thing. 

Uuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhh, I guess you can say Iris and Noct?? I think it’s said in the anime or somewhere else that she has a crush on Noct but the age difference is a bit,,,,, iffy or w/e. I’m not up on all the details. 

Honestly tho so long both parties are 18+ and consenting I really don’t care.

14. How many ships is too many?

I was going to jokingly say that there’s no such thing as too many ships but let’s be real. Quite honestly, I couldn’t care less for shipping for a while. I’ve been RPing close to nine goddamn years, three of which on this hellsite. Before joining on here, I used to look for RPs that focused on anything but romance bc it was never my focus. Truth to be told, I’ve come to enjoy it a lot here w/ the right chemistry but it’s also become clear that sometimes romance is all people care and that’s not,,,,, fun. Especially when one side goes inactive and w/ it all the nonnies that were sent. Altho I don’t want to say they were self-sent in, that’s also a possibility. 

W/ the fact that people will inevitably end up shipping popular stuff, I’d say that too many becomes too many when every ship is the same. When there’s next to no variety ( regardless of the ship ) and it literally becomes a gotta collect ‘em all thing rather than writing together for that sweet, oh, DEVELOPMENT then I think it’s time to evaluate if it’s really worth it stringing all these people along or some of the ships should be cut off. Don’t want to do that? Then find ways to make them unique. No two portrayals are the same, I’m sure there’s some kind of dynamic that makes it different. I still don’t think that this excuses the collector trait tho. Just. Find people you connect w/ and muses your muse actually cares for and build on that rather than having ten of the same ship w/ the same dynamics and plotlines.

TL;DR too many ships can be literally four ships not necessarily a dozen when they all blend together. The uniqueness of each ship is what makes shipping so interesting and if there’s none of it then maybe consider cutting down to fewer or even a single one and give them all the attention.

We stan a living Crowe. No, I’m not joking. This is up to each Crowe RPer what exactly happens when she’s declared ‘ dead ‘ but on this blog, Nyx knows that she couldn’t have gone down so easily. So yeah. He holds hope to be reunited w/ her. 

We are gonna have fun on here. If you are expecting a ‘ life is hard and I’m suffering ‘ type of broody hero then this blog isn’t for you. 

In the verse(s) where Nyx survives the Fall, he finds and rescues a wounded coeurl. She becomes fiercely loyal to him and won’t hesitate to maul anybody who approaches w/ ill intent. Her name is Snorri. 

I will most likely not ship Nyx and Lib past best childhood friends / bros. I just don’t see them being interested in each other romantically and their friendship is precious. Otherwise, I do ship LuNyx and CrowNyx. Nyx and the Chocobros is up to debate / a case by case thing. Just talk to me tbh.

Not sure what else but yeah. That’s it more or less.

Request Guidelines - 100 Ways FFXV Challenge

Hi y’all!

While searching for a compromise between taking prompts and having a goal to work towards, I stumbled across this post. I love all of these prompts and like the idea of completing all 100 these, all in 1,000 words or less (or so I say now, hah)! Having a goal to work towards motivates me more to completing the prompts.

I would like to accept requests for this, however, I’d like to go about it in a different way than I have before by setting out some more specific guidelines:

This shouldn’t be a surprise for anyone here, but I’m not willing to write dub/non con, underage, in/cest, or ABO. 

FFXV only!

Requests don’t have to be shippy. Platonic love is a-OK, just specify.

I’ve been REALLY interested in AUs lately. Even something as simple as coffee shop AU, pirate AU, fantasy AU, BDSM AU, soulmate AU, college AU, mer AU... I’m flexible, as long as it doesn’t require touching on the themes above! Feel free to send me a simple AU with your ask if you’re interested.

I’m also happy to write in universes I’ve already established (Artificial, This Too Is Sacred) if you’d like, as well as good old canon/verse 2.

Please specify if you’d prefer SFW - otherwise I will use my discretion/follow the muse!

Chapter Title: wander the concrete (it ain’t me)

Fic Summary: “Anyone can play guitar,” or so the song goes. A story about the work and love that goes into making a dream happen - no matter what that dream might be.

Chapter Summary: Luna makes a step forward toward her goal, and Nyx, Crowe, and the rest of their band do too. The guys learn a little more about Prompto, and Noctis gains another stray instrument. 

Luna walked through the expensive lobby without seeing it; the marble floors clacked under her shiny, blush-colored heels unnoticed. She and her brother presented their passports to the friendly security guard at the front desk, and were smoothly checked in and directed toward the third bank of elevators. Luna stared at the shiny gold numbers on the wall indicating the relevant floors and made a straight line toward her destination.

Ravus trailed behind her, providing a comforting presence but letting her do this on her own. He looked at the grain of the hardwood set into the walls and shook his head in amusement at the television screen that flashed a constant stream of the day’s headlines, complete with stock tickers. His eyes widened appreciatively at the giant red blown glass sculpture adorning the center table, and he looked down at the placard containing the artist’s name as they walked by.  

They filed into the elevator, and the security guard followed, pressed a keycard to the access pad, and pressed the button for the 48th floor. Luna took a deep breath and looked up at Ravus next to her.

“He won't be there, right?”

“He” was Ardyn Izunia, the producer who'd been the source of nearly all of Luna's stress for nearly an entire year. What had started as a merely overbearing, condescending demeanor had descended into a fight that was hurtful and nasty. Ravus had been horrified at the contract she'd signed—he'd been in the service at the time. Their mother had been desperate to hold onto the family's estate, and either ignorant or willfully blind to how bad it was.

Luna's contract had earned her millions, but she'd effectively lost the rights to all of her music. Her songs, that she'd spent hours on in her room, in the studio, in the backs of tour buses:  gone. It was massively unfair, and they'd hired some of the best lawyers in the country to help her try to get them back.

Ravus reached across his body to give Luna's hand a squeeze. “Regis assured us he wouldn't. This is just a signature.”

She nodded. “Right. Thanks.”

The doors slid open, and another pair of glass doors gleamed to their left. Luna took a deep breath and pushed forward.

Fic Summary: "Anyone can play guitar," or so the song goes. A story about the work and love that goes into making a dream happen - no matter what that dream might be. 

Chapter Summary:   The road trip begins! Nyx and Crowe get ready to play their first road show, and Ravus and Luna start their own journey. 

Ignis harassed them all for three days to make lists, get packed, and check their equipment. It still took him an entire day to get them organized when it was time to leave. The sun was setting as they finally pulled out of Gladio and Noctis’ driveway

Ignis ran a hand through his hair and exhaled, then he looked into the side mirrors and angled the huge van into reverse.

Once they hit the highway he seemed to loosen up, helped along by Gladio’s management of the music for the ride. He played some of their favorites, and before long Ignis had relaxed enough to tap his fingers on the steering wheel and sing along lightly.

Noctis was quiet but content, staring quietly out the window as they left the city lights behind and stars poked through the thick velvety purple surface of the night sky. He grinned when a favorite of his came on and leaned forward to poke at Gladio’s sizable bicep.

“Oh dude, turn this up. Listen to this solo!”

Gladio grinned and turned it up. Noctis waited for the solo to finish and started chattering about it; a discussion that Prompto followed only part of but that definitely sounded like Advanced Music Nerd, and he grinned at Noctis’ excited handwaving.

Gladio’s playlist clicked forward to a slinky song with a heavy bass beat and a slithering riff. Oh, well if that isn’t classically perfect fucking timing. Ugh. Prompto put headphones in and curled up in the backseat, trying to look like he was just trying to grab some rest.

Ignis hit traffic, sighed, and popped the top on the canned coffee he’d propped in the front seat cup holder. He looked around, moving slightly to the beat.

“This is good. New?” he asked Gladio, taking a sip.

Prompto burrowed further into his corner.

“New to me. I dig it though.”

Ignis nodded in agreement.  “Who is it?”

“Group called Stoss, but I think it’s just the singer leading it mostly. Can’t remember her name, though.”

“Me, either, but I think she’s from New York.” Noctis poked Prompto. “Hey, you were living in New York before the tour, right? Give this a listen - do you know who this is?”

Prompto winced and took out an earbud. He sighed a little bit. “Yeah, this is Stoss. I know it.” His hand hovered with the earbud, looking to shove it back in and get back to his podcast.

“Yeah yeah, but who is it? Do you know the singer’s name?”

“Yeah, it’s - Aranea Highwind.” The words were thick in Prompto’s mouth, and he hoped his feelings weren’t written all over his face for Noctis, and if he turned around, Gladio to see.

Of course it was Ignis, always perceptive, who flicked a glance into the rearview mirror.

“Let Prompto sleep if he wants to sleep, Noct.” His tone was a little scolding, but Noctis took it well, just giving Prompto a little smile.

“Sorry. Yeah, maybe Iggy’s gonna let you drive next. Rest up,” Noctis teased.

“Not likely.” Ignis responded from the front.

“It’s not you - he doesn’t let anyone else drive. Do ya Specs? Not even Gladio, and he’s supposedly the other responsible one.”  Prompto grinned at Noctis’ words, noticing where that left Noctis in their little group.

Ignis pushed up his glasses, and his British accent became slightly more clipped. ‘It’s not that I don’t trust you, it’s just that it gives me something to do. Riding in the passenger seat is insufferably boring, and -”

“Riding in the back makes you carsick. I know, Iggy. I’m just giving you a hard time.” Noctis’ words were affectionate, and Ignis smiled back at him.

Prompto pulled his hood up over his head and turned toward the window, watching the lights of the cars around them blend into snaking lines as the traffic finally let up and they moved on their way. It was a long way back to the East Coast, and their journey was just beginning.

10 Favorites from 2018

In 2018, I wrote 166,124 words that I posted on AO3, plus another 27,941 that I've written but not posted yet! I did an earlier post of my fics with the most kudos, but I'm going to love up some of my own favorites too. List under the cut!

Thank you if you read any of these, offered comments or kudos or flailed with me on how to write the damn words! Fellow creators, I would love to see your own most-loved works of 2018 - tag me if you make a post!

Lucis Military Academy (Aranea/Crowe, ratings from G to E). This series is special to me for a lot of reasons. It kicked off my adoration for Aranea/Crowe as a pairing, it helped me develop a backstory for Aranea, and I got to create and flesh out sort of a canon-adjacent AU 10 years before game events -  I still love it a lot (and yes, I do intend to finish it, I promise!).

Disarmed (Ignis/Nyx, ratings from T to E). Another series favorite (because 2018 was also about learning how to plan/write something other than oneshots!). Ignyx quickly became a top-tier beloved pairing for me and this was another chance to play with pre-canon events. I love these boys a whole lot and I hope it shows. 

Flare (Prompto/Aranea, E). 2018's rarepair week inspired some fics I love, like this one, a short World of Ruin Promnea featuring BAMF!Prompto. 

Détente (Ignis/Ravus, E). Rarepair week also inspired my first try at Fleurentia, and, well - I ended up loving them a lot! ("trade deals are sexy I promise" - classic tag).

Conspire Against the Odds (Fleurentia, ratings from T to E). I loved Fleurentia so much I ended up collaborating with the wonderful @tinyconfectionary on this ongoing college AU with many other fun rarepairs too.

until the last note fades (Gladio/Ignis, Crownyx, T for now). I dove into another AU with several of my stalwart favorite things: Gladnis, slow burn, guitars, and more rarepairs (eventually). This is a rockband AU, ongoing, and I love the title because I stole it from myself.

A Delicate Balance (Ravus/Aranea, E). Kinktober turned into Ravneatober with this very NSFW, multi-kink three-parter. I had a lot of fun with this one and it just solidified my love for both characters and for this pairing.

Pure Morning (Aranea/Ignis/boots, E). I'll always love Highspecs, and though my current longfic for them is still unpublished, I can't help but write oneshots here and there.

Lemonade Kisses (Gladio/Luna/Noctis, E). Farm AU oneshot where my eternal thirst and love for Luna and Gladio thrived and Noctis entered the scene as dangerously sexy (hasn't left, really). 

Equal and Opposite (Cor/Aranea, M). Cornea turned out to be a REALLY fun dynamic and I loved writing this.
