I'm so conflicted on ct/innie leader because it's implemented so poorly that my thoughts always circle around to them being together not because they were truly in love, but because they were trying to use each other to accomplish their own goals.

ct couldn't take pfl down alone, and she needed help from someone who had a connection to those in power who she could give her information to so that something could actually be done. the innie leader was this key: his boss was the assistant to the chairman of the oversight committee, and with his influence she would be able to make a deal to hopefully keep herself out of prison (and maybe save her former teammates too).

the innie leader was the head of charon industries private security, and it was his job to ensure the safety of charon's assets. considering the destruction that freelancer was causing—and his inability to stop it—its safe to assume that he was probably in pretty hot water, and hargrove was not happy about how much money he was costing him. so, how does one get out of that situation? how about by getting your hands on some secret experimental tech, as well as information on valuable alien artifacts, and a way for his boss to get revenge on the man who's been fucking his stuff up?

Weird Dream I Had Last Night

This dream was related to the events of Red vs Blue season 10 episodes 9-10.

I was with the Leader of the Resistance and CT out in Longshore. I was telling them what was going to happen, with all the junk about Carolina and Tex going after them, so we decided to head out into the bunkers in a car. It was a mix between a truck and a warthog (puma).

We were driving along a road, and there were pillars on the sides and some roof at the top. It looked like one of the photos from the Minecraft Combat Book, one of four Minecraft books that were sold during the classic Book Fairs in my elementary years. It was getting dark, because I saw a few stars in the sky. When I looked closely, it actually looked like a skybox for one of the Halo games, with some stratus clouds near the horizon and stars with varying brightnesses. We were approaching the bunker, and then the hallways were beginning to get tighter and tighter.

The hallways had this light-sky-blue paint texture to it, much like to the one my room has. We had the two twin bodyguards with us, and we decided to head in, parking the car closer to this gate in our way and squeezing tighter through the hallway. By then, the hallway could just fit in the width of the car. The gate was like one of those gates you'd see at trails or at rural-suburb areas, because it had this pole at one end and this triangular thing that acted like a door. The gate had a sign, saying, "Open to Save" or "Enter to Save" in all caps. We were getting to one of the bunkers, and I was starting to panic. There were multiple doors lining the walls, and I was thinking about the possibility of Carolina finding us in her sight when we walked far into the straight path that would lead to the bunkers.

I suggested that we would have to hide in one of the rooms, opening the first door to my right. It was a dirty basement of some kind. Probably my cousin's. Then, to my surprise, Carolina opened the door, and was like, "Surprise, Motherf-" you know. I was so shocked, I began to have a mental breakdown and straight up apologizing to CT and The Leader for the dumb crap I did for stalling them on accident, because I had to stop them to talk about the situation, when, if I wasn't there, they would've made it to the bunkers already. I hugged the Leader first, crying in his arms, and then hugged CT (I still cried in her arms). I told them that they're both gonna get "slain" by Carolina.

For visuals, here's a photo kinda similar to the hallway I was in, with horrible artwork because I don't know how to draw halo characters.

And don't forget the little scene at the end that my brain decided to entertain me with at 3 AM in the morning. I freakin' love these RvB dreams. Hopefully I'll see Caboose next.

i used to think insurrectionist leader taking ct’s identity meant he had used that to get away from ties to charon, but i’ve decided that actually his reasons for deciding he needs the monitor/alien tech so fucking bad he needs to commit mass murder of the dig team and double-identity-theft them make a whole lot more fucking sense if he’s still working for charon in season 7. so i’ve decided he just steals ct’s identity in the world’s weirdest most maladaptive grief coping mechanism because he would rather she be alive than him. and now i like him 100x more. all you need to make me like a character is make them actually really fucking weird

It's after 1:30am, I need to sleep, can someone remind me tomorrow to poke at a CT-centric au idea in which CT was never in love with the insurrectionist leader, but she actually a plant from ONI to make sure nothing sus was going on at PFL, and investigate fully if there was (Cause Dr. Church is brilliant but everyone who's ever met him is aware he's kinda unhinged,) and the insurrectionist leader was either working with or being used by CT and when she was "fatally" wounded one of the blows from the fight damaged the info pack she had ready to send to ONI head office and that's why PFL wasn't taken out even though she had all the information she needed.

And IL either betrayed her and took her armour because fancy FL tech, or he didn't betray her and took the armour to kind of lead anyone from PFL in the wrong direction while CT healed up.

I feel like I'd like the Triplets and Sherry's team to show up at some point, maybe somehow accidentally saving CT or maybe after PFL has finally bitten the dust for realsies, and then CT (and the Triplets and Sherry's team are/) is sent to investigate Charon industries because something sus. And they end up arriving just in time to have a Big Damn Heroes moment during the end of the Chorus final battle.

anyway, I don't know what I wanna do with that. or if i wanna do anything at all. meh. it's a tomorrow problem.

drawing advice: learn how to draw fat people. learn how to draw a variety of ethnicity specific facial features and hair textures so the POC you draw don't look like white folks with a tan skin tone slapped on

use references. do shape analysis. trace!!! for the love of fucking God stop being afraid to trace for practice. I do this over poses to help figure out where the skeleton is and how things are connected. I outline the shapes that make up a complex surface to better understand it. it's not illegal. no one will slap your hands or take you to jail for unpublished, unmonetized practice sketches.

I spent a while going over screenshots of Price's face to figure out how to draw him. This is what I ended up with as an initial study

and here's the bust I did for further painting practice, with a lot of color picked palettes for assistance. color picking can be helpful in finding the relationships between colors within a particular skin tone

And grif from my shirt cut meme. Fat lays different than muscle. Don't be afraid of fat. It's just a part of the body like anything else.

It folds at creases, it stretches downwards because of gravity, it holds different shapes than just muscle with little fat. (This is from last summer and I'm already seeing things I'd like to change... 💀)

rvb doesn't have a lot of canon women, people of color or folks that aren't thin and model shaped so please don't take away the little diversity that IS there. challenging yourself to learn to draw unfamiliar things will also help your art skills develop. I'm still working on a lot of things myself (as you can see in the above examples). But it's important to put in the work. ✌️ thanks for reading.

I still have so many questions about season 10, and so many things that annoy me 

-The shift of the Director’s motivation to Allison and “getting her right” when he already had her, (and let Wyoming and Maine use live fire on Tex, which... huh?) -the complete weaksauce of Epsilon’s integration with Washington, nothing like what we were promised. -Honestly, just the whole collapse of Project Freelancer feels incredibly compressed. They could really have used another season to do justice to the storyline. From Sigma’s turning of Maine into the Meta to the North/York/Tex breakout to save Alpha to... everything else. It’s just massively compressed from beginning to end.  -How in the hell did CT figure out something was wrong? What was actually the thing that got her curious? How did she figure out what she figured out? How did she link up with Charon Industries? How did she and that dipshit Insurrectionist leader -why didn’t said Insurrectionist provide the intel he was given to the Chairman? The Chairman wanted to stop the Director (not out of morality, just pragmatism) so... if he got the intel why didn’t he use it? Of course there’s still unanswered question about what the Chairman wanted with Project Freelancer -CT calls Tex “a shadow” that she won’t take orders from, speaking scornfully but then Tex is also the one she leaves the data drive with all the intel she gathered to?  -Hell, for that matter why did the Director get so afraid of Tex fighting Carolina with two AI anyway? Was he suddenly afraid for tex’s life when he hadn’t been earlier (Live fire incident) The whole thing makes no sense under close examination.

I mean, I know that some of my disappointment Season 10 is that it just... didn’t live up to my imagined version of Project Freelancer, and I decry that mentality when it comes to other things, like the Prequel Trilogy of Star Wars, so why am doing it here? Of course, I can point out that Season 6 implied a lot of things about the project - hell, so did Season 8 - that just... didn’t get born out, but equally...

I am just forever going to be unhappy with Season 10. It is great, but it could have been so much better.

This is the story of Project Freelancer, told from the perspective of the agent that sent it crashing and burning into the ground.

“—imary objective is the capture, or the elimination, of the Insurrectionist Leader,” Carolina said, her words coming into focus at the will of an elbow jammed into Connie’s side. Glancing at Wash out of the corner of her eye, she made herself stand straighter and listen. “Latest intelligence places him aboard Ferryman Station, which recently fell under insurrectionist control.”

A holographic schematic of the station was projected between them, the blue light reflecting from Carolina’s narrow visor.

“Our insertion point is on the far end of the facility.” Carolina pointed, and a branch of the station lit up red. “York will get us past the secure airlock. From there, Connecticut will gain access to their internal communications and direct us towards his real-time location.”

Right. That was why she was here.

“If we succeed in capturing the target, our extraction point will be the nearest docking port,” Carolina continued. “Niner will be on alert for our signal. If we do this right, it should be a quick in and out.”
