The last few times we've been in the park we've come with foods (like defrosted corn and/or peas), so today we were very honoured that the moorhen got its babies out of the water and onto the path, all with their big goofy feet 🥲😍 they're so soft and gentle-looking, I bet if you had vegetables or seeds in your hand, they would pop em right from you 🥰
im glad you got to see red winged blackbirds on your trip!! they're one of my fav birds and there are tons of them where i live - every time i go for walks in my neighborhood i feel so lucky c':
u are lucky!!!! i went to the kachina wetlands and was looking at the geese in the pond when one flew out of the cattails :) i was so happy lol
Searching here and there, i found out a site what is about Ivan Saiderberg talking about the comics he made (the site is only in portuguese, because Ivan was brazilian).
The site talks about the comic "Um Amor do Passado" (suck translation: "A Love From the Past"), it's a Grandma Duck's comic made in 1981 and published in 1985, about her old love returning after 50 years.
The weird is his name. By what i saw, at least in portuguese, his name is Patusco.
"Ooh, but what's wrong about that?" THIS, MY FRIEND. Look at him:
Idk if they were just head empty of creativity or whatever, but look... we have another character in duckverse with this name...
FIC WRITERS AND ARTISTS CAN I HEAR A "HELL YEAH" IF YOU THOUGH THE PRETTY SAME THAN ME
"Patusco was charmingly romantic!"
Dewey: Hm... It looks that he changed a bit, huh?
Grandma: And how he has changed!
Also:
Patoso: But i'm smelling the delicious aroma from the cupcakes that you always was used to do, Elvira... yummie!
Elvira: Well, i... i was doing cupcakes to my grandkids and...
Patoso: Grandkids? So you got married?
Huey: It's not like that! We're Donald Duck's nephews, who was raised by grandma!
Dewey: We're adoptive grandkids!
Patoso: Ah, right... *eating sonds* and the cupcakes are great!
Adopted Donald confirmed✅️
Well, weird guy, actually she got married, had three (or more) children and then actually she's a widow. I think you're a little bit late, but who am i to say something
I can’t believe I had a Who’s on First moment irl today.
Me, seeing a small, chicken-like waterbird: Ooh, there’s a coot!
Woman on the pier with me: Ah yes, it’s very cute. :)
Me: It’s a coot!
Her: Yes, it is cute. :)
My mom and I just went to sit 2 hours straight at the local riverside. The water hasn't been warmed enough by the sun to swim but it was nice enough to sit and tan for a bit.
There was a couple of coots and their two babies, and the male constantly camr to see us. At our spot, the grass was pretty loose so you could easily get to the little bugs crawling at the stones.
We decided to call the couple Dino and Dina as prior to learning they were called coots we always called them dino-birds because they have these dino-like paws and Dino kept getting to our spot because of the bugs.
But whilst usually they avoid humans like the plague Dino was actually not afraid to get near us and even dared to climb upwards on the grass for a bit. It was still a little bit too shy to get next to us, but it was way tamer then we've ever seen a coot.
Because their nest is located at a spot where there was a nest previous year and birds do typically return to their own breeding spot, we figured Dino was one of the chicks of last year and that he's less skittish around us then a coot normally would be because he recognizes us.
I think it's so cute! I have made it no secret that I am frightened of birds except for ducks and sparrows (I'm kind of like a reverse Herondale in that department), but instances like these make me slowly warm up to coots too. I swear, by the end of the summer Dino will be chilling next to us on our beach towels.
