Certain frog species will freeze themselves fully solid in winter times. Wood frogs have the ability to produce a kind of antifreeze that fills their cells and vital organs, protecting them from the cold. They can freeze up to 65% of their body in this way, and are completely fine come spring.

Also when frogs are eating, they pull their eyes down into the roof of their mouths to help them swallow the food

MARINUS BRAINROT INCOMING

(long long post)

ALSO CW/TW: DARK TOPICS

Smol description for those unfamiliar, Marinus is my twst siren oc! (Specifically based on the sirens from Ice Age: Continental Drift, I know, we lost the series at movie 3)

He's my 6'4 gremlin (excuse me mistakenly writing 6'5, I have head empty), usually has his hair tied near his knees (his hair is really long) and his left eye is bright blue while his right is purple!

He has lots of scars, but unlike Cho-Hee, he's not really ashamed or embarrassed of them and will confidently talk about them in detail if asked about any of them-

Marinus also has a siren form that he can shift into! Although he usually uses magic potions to suppress it so he doesnt "spontaneously" turn into a giant fish-

HOWEVER

Its not a foolproof plan, if he's too stressed out and overwhelmed, he will shift into fish form- and in this state, he cannot talk, at all, the most he can do is chirps, chitters, hisses, growls, etc.

He loves seafood! Especially shrimp!

Although tbh he'd be willing to eat just about anything including people

Which brings me to my other point-

Marinus has shitty parents

They've encouraged this uncontrollable/feral behaviour so Mari does not know how to act appropriately in certain situations. Some of his scars are from fighting people, some from when he attacked his sister and others from when he would eat bits and pieces of himself just to live.

His mom is very much the "Scars just make you stronger and the stronger you are, the better✨" type of woman and his dad just lets her get away with it. Marinus' dad will gladly turn his own kid into a chalk outline if it meant making his wife happy💀 (which is why Marinus doesnt really fight/test his dad, because he actually can kill him, he will however fist fight his mom for you<3)

Marinus not knowing how to act means he can accidently say that, while he means to say "You are warm and comforting" he says "I eat you like soup"

Cho-Hee is terrified of Marinus... But Mari actually likes Cho-Hee! (In the respectful/friendly way)

This also means he can over/under react to certain situations

For example: you cannot leave Marinus alone for more than 10 minutes if he's your friend or he will come and find you.

Why?

Because he thinks that in 10 minutes, you're already planning your escape to leave him-

As much as I say he literally eats people, he'll try to avoid doing so at almost any cost. Including keeping emergency snacks with him, literally chewing his own fingers, etc but its when a kid pushes him over the edge/he runs out of emergency snacks that things go to shit-

When it comes to affection, he's practically a koala attached to your hip if you're his friend (he only lets romantic partners touch/play with his hair though so sorry)

He's very touch starved and will relentlessly follow you like a lost puppy and maybe even borrow your clothes (if you let him). He'll also affectionately nip your fingers/hands because he has no idea how to be a normal person-
