Night School
The tell-tale sound of a key in the door pulled you from your work, glancing at the clock in he kitchen with a start. 12 a.m.
Just because he was accustomed to you sitting at the table with books and papers scattered around you at this hour doesn't mean he liked it. He sat his bag by the door, a mischievous idea forming in his mind.
He bent down, hand on your shoulder as he pressed a kiss to your cheek, his scruff tickling the skin.
"How was class?"
"Good. I think I'll hang up the motion I wrote on the fridge," his breath fanned across your neck as he watched you work, a cheeky grin on his face when he felt your shoulder shake in laughter.
"Make a copy and put it on Cutter's desk."
He had to stifle his laughter at the idea, afraid he'd wake the neighbors, stranding back up, a mischievous grin on his face.
"How is it that I'm the one in night school but yet you're the one doing homework at midnight?"
He snaked his arms around you, ignoring the way you bat your hands at him.
"I have to finish this."
"Not right now, you don't." His arms tightened, tugging you up out of the chair and over his shoulder.
"What the- Cyrus! Let me go!"
"Motion for dismissal denied."
He finally sat you down on your shared bed before quickly changing into a black t-shirt, pulling you backwards with him as he laid down, tucking you under his chin.
"I love you," you murmered, hand curling against his chest.
You felt his lips grace your forehead, the words "I love you, too" delicately placed like an imprint.

It’s the sting that gets Cyrus thinking. The weight of the wedding band on his finger as the two of you sit at a kitchen table in a cluttered house, across from a man who is trying to scam the both of you. And of course, you let him.
It’s being in your proximity that does this to him, the brush of your skin against his as you sign the paperwork. He thinks about what could have been if that day had gone according to plan, if he hadn’t offered to cover Wilkins shift because the guy had three kids at home and wanted to spend Christmas morning with them.
He'd been going to propose that night, in front of the Christmas tree in the courtyard of the apartment building the two of you had lived in. He’d had the ring for weeks, burning a hole in his pocket.
He remembers kissing you goodbye on Christmas Eve, the taste of raspberries on your lips from the balm you used to ward off the cold weather, how good you had felt pressed against him in that sweater that hugged every single one of your curves just right.
There’s a disconnect after that. He can’t recount the rest of his shift but he remembers in vivid detail attending the crime scene at the Anderson house. The tang of copper in the air, the taste of it in his mouth as he stands in the doorway of kitchen, the bodies of two tender age children lying at his feet.
Familicide is what they call it now.
The kids, then the wife and then the husband himself.
It was all over in a matter of minutes.
It breaks him that crime scene, it destroys something deep down inside of him. He thinks he felt the moment that his soul shattered. It was when the M.E had turned over the youngest, little Stevie, the expression on that kid’s face…
It haunted him even now.
Everything had fallen apart after that.
Instead of coming home to you he’d hit a bar, one drink to take the edge off. Before he knew it, he was waking up on the living room floor in front of his own Christmas tree with no memory of how he got there. It was a one off, he thought. He’d seen something horrific that day but he coped, he always coped.
But the nightmares kept coming, so did the flashbacks. He couldn’t sleep, couldn’t eat, couldn’t talk about it because the images they were just too visceral to put into words. He began to self-medicate. You'd tried to snap him out of it, he lost track of the constant conversations about his mental state, how erratic he was becoming.
When you left it should have been a wake-up call, but it wasn’t. It only gave him more rope to hang himself with.
He lies in bed the night after the sting and stares at the ceiling, his thumb rubbing over the space where the gold wedding band had resided. For a second, he imagines what his life would be like if he hadn’t covered for Wilkins. The two of you would have been married by now, maybe a couple of kids. Your home would have been one full of laughter and joy. After putting the children to bed he would have slipped underneath the sheets beside you, kissing you until you were breathless, shushing you when things got a little loud, because you always got a little loud when he made love to you.
In the dark he thinks of you and this other life, the one the two of you could have had and he mourns it because there is no going back. He fucked up a long time ago and now he’s paying the price.

Home Is With you
Tumblr media
Requested by the lovely : @tkappi I hope you enjoy this :)
Hi.. Would you write a Story with Cyrus Lupo x reader in a love kind like fluff/ sfw or more ?
A/N: If you like my work please comment like and reblog it means a lot to see interactions on my work
You are Home
Cyrus Lupo X Reader
Working at the 27th district as a civilian definitely had its perks. You worked as a liaison for the people to the police.
From the second you got there everyone treated you like family and was very welcoming to you.
You worked there fresh out of high school, a family friend getting you a job as an administrative assistant first then going to college and now getting the job you have now.
When you first started the job you thought no way you were going to stay here this long but then life throws curveballs and now here you are.
You grew it to love it though and couldn’t imagine being anywhere else.
You also mean your amazing boyfriend who you were hoping to become more soon. Cyrus lupo was an amazing guy, no one really knew him like you did though.
He was a quiet guy to most but once you got to know him he really opened up. He had been through a lot in his life.
With his brother’s suicide to him being working with the intelligence division he kept a lot close to the vest.
The first time he ever even talked to you is when he asked you to help him with an undercover case
. It involved some insane group called systematics. You only saw him in passing before that so you were surprised he even thought of you.
He got in trouble of course for taking a civilian out but he was also nice enough to take all the heat so you didn’t get in trouble for agreeing to go with him.
After work you offered to buy him a drink to thank him and make him feel better.
Then the rest is history. He asked you back out after that and two years later you guys were still together. You had even taken the next step in the relationship and moved in together and rode to work together.’
Everyone at this point knew you were a couple and were the favorite office couple who everyone shipped together.
Cyrus was incredibly sweet and kind. He always loved taking you to breakfast in the morning.
It was a way the two of you got to spend some time together. You guys always talked about everything and anything.
The only deal was no shop talk. You both needed a break from all that. He always held your hand going into work and would walk to your desk then give a small kiss while no one was walking.
You always said to him before the start of your shift, “ Come home safe to me.”  He always replied
“Yes Ma'am”
At the end of each shift if you got done early or if he got done early. The other person would wait for them to be done so you could go home together.
Coming home was the best part of the day. You both would change out of your work clothes and then go and walk Otto together. He would hold your hand and sometimes while out on a walk you would get your fave dinner together.
Walk around pizza was the best thing ever. You would go to a bunch of different pizza shops eating together.
It was something you loved or sometimes you would bring a blanket with you on a walk and you guys would eat dinner in the park together.
Cyrus is a very romantic guy as well.
When ever he knew you had a long day at work or even if he just wanted to spoil you he would spread candles and flowers around the house and fill up the bath to have it waiting for you.
You always tried to convince him to join you but he would say it was just for you that you needed to relax. But you had always made it up to him later.
Cyrus always had his love language that he used. He always loved physical touch as his way of showing his love.
From holding your hand and giving it a little squeeze or if he saw you getting coffee in the break room he would come over and place his hand on your back and looking up at you and smiling.
At home the two of you would either lay on the couch together or the bed he would pull you close to him.
Placing your head on his chest and he would kiss the top of your head and keep you close giving you a squeeze.
It always made you feel so loved every time he did it.
It was a friday night now and somehow the two of you managed to get off at a reasonable hour. You know were sitting at home when Cyrus looked over at you.
“Go get dressed and wear that nice outfit i like” He said kissing you
“Mmm why what do you got planned” You asked him smiling at him
“Don’t worry about i’ll go and freshen up to now go hurry up” He said
You perked up and ran off the couch and made Cyrus laugh.
You put on that favorite outfit that he liked so much and got ready and he even put on a nice outfit. He wanted to shave but you wouldn’t let him you loved the beard on him.
When the two of you finished getting ready he grabbed your hand and the two of you walked out together.
As you walked out the apartment building you looked over and asked him
“So where are we going” You asked
“It’s a surprise” Cyrus said
“Come on babbyyyy a smalllll cluee” You asked dragging it out
He just laughed and shook his head at you. Where ever the two of you were going you didn’t need that car. Which meant nothing considering it was New York after all.
The weather was beautiful that night, everyone was out and the city was vibing. It was kinda romantic without meaning to be if that made sense. You just enjoyed the walk and surprise to wherever you were going.
You ended up at your favorite park. He took you a different way so you didn’t notice. It was a beautiful set up. There were flowers and candles and soo much food with a blanket and pillows.
You smiled at him and had tears in your eyes. He walked over to the blanket and the two of you sat down.
You nearly tackled him but you lunged over and kissed him. He kissed you back placing his hands on your face.
You pulled apart and he wiped the tears that managed to escape. There was all of your favorite things. Your favorite pizza , sandwich , drink and flowers.
“What is all this baby” You asked
He didn’t say anything, he just got up and reached out a hand for you to take it. You got up and he smiled really big at you
“Y/N I have been in love with you from the moment I saw you. When I came back home I didn’t feel like I belonged thing’s didn’t make sense but then when I meant you everything made sense and I felt like I was home. And I love you so much and i never want to be with out will you marry me” Cyrus asked getting on one knee.
You cried and just started shaking your head yes. He got up and kissed you and you wrapped your hands around his neck and he grabbed you closer to him.
“I love you so much Cy” You said to him
“I love you too so much always” He said to you
He let go and took the ring out the box and slid it on your finger. It was such a beautiful ring your dream one.
“Can we eat now I am starving” You said
“I wouldn’t want to deprive you” Cyrus said.
The two of you sat down and you began eating. It was all of your favorite foods and you totally binged out.
“Well I’m glad you like it” Cyrus said laughing
“Mm soo good I love it soo much you know how to treat a girl right.” You said
“Well it’s not over yet” He said
And you gave him a look and he pulled you closer to him.
You were resting against him placing your head against his chest and he squeezed you tight kissing the top of your head.
Next thing you know there were fireworks going off and it was such a beautiful scene that made you start crying again.
“This is so beautiful baby how / why “ You asked him
“I know a guy and why because I love you and wanted to make it special” Cyrus said
“I love it so much” You said
“Anything for you baby” He said
You two stayed and watched the show then a little bit later you all packed it up and went home.
The rest of the weekend went by way to fast. You guys barely left the bed only to get up to get food and walk the dog.
Monday morning you had your usual breakfast before work and then the two of you walked in hand and hand.
When you got there it was unusually quiet and there wasn’t a lot of people around. Which made you both give each other a weird look.
Cyrus shrugged at you and then when you made your way upstairs to the detective area you were startled by everyone screaming
“Congratulations” Everyone shouted
“What omg what is this” You asked
“You think lupes over there ain’t tell his partner he was getting engaged and we weren’t going to throw a party to celebrate” Kevin  said
“You guys didn’t have to do all this though this is way too much” You said walking over and hugging him.
“Around here we need a good thing celebrate”  LT  Van Buren said
“This is so beautiful” You said hugging her
“Your welcome you both deserve it” She said it
They brought out a cake and drinks and everyone sat around eating, talking and celebrating.
Everyone walked up and congratulated the both of you. Cyrus grabbed your hand and walked out the room to the break room so it was the two of you alone.
“Did you know they were doing this” You asked him
“No i was just surprised as you” Cyrus said pulling you in for a kiss
“Why are we alone right now when we have a whole party dedicated to us” You asked
“Mm because then I can’t kiss you” He said leaning in for a kiss
“Come on, we're being rude,” You said, pulling apart and grabbing his hand.
The two of you joined the party again and you grabbed cake and drinks for the two of you.  You guys began eating and you leaned over and looked over at him
“Are wedding cake better taste this good” You said
“Oh it will taste even better” He said
You laughed at him
. Looking around the room it was so crazy that ten years went and came by just like that.
You barely even wanted that stupid office job now it turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to you.
You wouldn’t change anything for the world because this was home.

Cyrus Lupo / Waste of Time (Part One)
As requested by the lovely @laneygthememequeen:
Can I request another Cyrus lupo case, maybe where they're both detectives and are staking out but go check it out to van-buren's orders and lupo gets a bullet to his side. He's alright, just bleeding and stuff but survives and the reader goes down, maybe like she worked with the FBI formerly?
I love Lupo, guys. He’s such a sweetheart and I love writing his character since he’s such a sarcastic, quippy guy. This ended up being too long, so its split into two parts. I’m still working on part two which will be up tomorrow, or Friday depending on time. Please enjoy!

“This is a waste of time,” A smile played on Cyrus Lupo’s lips at your words, as he stared across the street at the same empty, deserted lot the two of you had been parked in front of for over three hours. Your fingernails tapped on the dashboard rhythmically, as if you were drumming to a song no one else could hear. Even in the dark, he could see the irritation plain as day on your face, lips pursed and nose scrunched in impatience. “If someone was going to be here, they would have showed up already,” Your voice was growing irritated at the lack of any movement at all and at his lack of response to your complaints. One thing about police work was that you had to grind, something you weren’t exactly used to.
“I suppose the FBI didn’t have you do many stakeouts,” Cyrus commented lightly, as he peered through his binoculars at the ever vacant lot the two of you were assigned to. “You never did tell me what you exactly do in the FBI, besides this,”
“Cy, you know you need security clearance for that information, and you don’t,” You rolled your eyes, as he broke his gaze away from the lot for the first time tonight to give you a teasing smile.
“We got engaged, we’re going to be married soon, doesn’t that count for anything?” You shrugged, before giving him a grin. Just the thought of marrying him brought a smile to your face, but that didn’t mean you weren’t a tease. “It accounts for my love,” You said in a mocking manner.
“Funny, they didn’t cover than in law school or in the academy,” He rolled his eyes before going back to his binoculars.
The two of you fell into a comfortable silence, and Cyrus couldn’t help but sneak half-glances at you. He tightened his fingers around the binoculars. He was on edge. And, though you complained, you were as well. The Chinese and Italian Mafia were breaking ground tonight with a new deal that could mean disaster and mortal danger for many New Yorkers if it went through. However, there was no way for a multi-man sting to go down without alerting them And that’s where you two came in.
The two of you had never been assigned on a case like this, much less together. You were working with NYPD on this sting operation, functioning as the go-between for both departments. Van Buren was hesitant to put the two of you in the field together given your relationship status, but in this case, she had no choice, since the case warranted your FBI training, and Kevin was busy overseeing the entire operation with Van Buren. Van Buren had you both agree to talk this case, forewarning that it would most likely be the most danger either of you have been in this far. And though you both agreed to, Cyrus shifted in his seat, half-glancing at you sitting beside him. He couldn’t help but worry about you. Of course, you were capable of taking care of yourself, perhaps more than him. But that didn’t stop him from worrying.
“Cy,” You tapped him, shaking him from his reverie, your eyes narrowed as you held the binoculars to your face, “There’s movement,” Several men had gathered with large cases, their shapes ambiguous, “You think they might just be selling Girl Scout cookies?” He snorted at your remark, continuing to monitor the situation, when he heard a click. You had unbuckled your seatbelt, raring to go, your body tense with bottled up adrenaline, eager to explode. “We should move in,”
“Whoa, whoa, we should wait and see,” Taking his cellphone from his hands, but you began to open the door, giving the signal to move in. Cyrus sighed, chasing after you, as you held up your gun and badge.
“FBI!” You shouted, causing the men to scatter as police and FBI agents surrounded them, one of them lunged for one of the cases. He pulled out a modified AK-47, unlike the ones seen in the U.S., as Cyrus almost could have sworn he was back in the warzone he had left behind years ago. He spotted you ahead of him, right in the line of fire. His heart practically burst out of his chest, his eyes only concentrated on you. He couldn’t lose you, he couldn’t bear it. He sprinted towards you, his body thrumming, the only thought in his mind was getting to you before you left him. Left him like his brother, like everyone eventually did. He shut his eyes as he reached you, wrapping his arms around you as he pushed you to the ground, covering your body with his own. He swore he would protect you when he proposed only three short nights ago, under the stars. He had taken you out to your favorite restaurant, the two of you taking an after dinner walk to very place you first met: a cop bar around the corner from your office. He had offered to walk you home after scaring off two drunks. He joked that he only prevented two homicides so those men should be thanking him. And it was true. You didn’t his protection, you damn well deserved it. And he damn sure wasn’t going to break his promise.
The rapid fire of bullets had your ears ringing and aching. Your eyes were blurry, you could hear indistinct yelling and gunfire, as your head tried to make sense of what happened. Then it was quiet. Dead quiet. Blinking several times, your vision cleared and you saw Cyrus’s face hovering inches from your own, and you smiled, confused and disoriented. “Cy,” As you shifted, you heard Cyrus groan, and he rolled over, revealing a blooming patch of red on his shirt.
“Cyrus?” You looked at your clothes only see your shirt drenched a crimson red, your hands covered with your fiancée’s blood. He had taken a round in the stomach. “Officer down! Officer down!” You screeched, catching their attention as they rushed to his side, but you refused to leave it.
“Ma’am, you have to let us do our job,” One of the EMTs pried you away, escorting you to the ambulance, as they loaded him into it. You rode in with him, by his side, on the phone with Kevin, who filled you in on what happened. The entire thing had become fuzzy in your memory. You remembered charging in, arresting some of the members, the man lunging for the case… Your eyes widened as Kevin recounted what happened. Cyrus had saved your life. The man managed to fire a spray of bullets just as Cyrus got to you, tackling you to the ground, as another agent took lunatic down. You felt guilt and anger wash over you as you looked at Cyrus hooked up to a million machines. His usual grin was hidden under an oxygen mask, his chocolate irises concealed behind his eyelids, and his conscious body looked paler and sickly than before. Tears rolled down your cheeks, as you covered your mouth.
It should have been you.
Cyrus groaned, as he tried to turn onto his side, only to be unsuccessful in his endeavor. He felt a pain in his side and tensed, his muscles clenching as the pain slowly faded. His eyes fluttered open slowly, the lights were off, the window shades were half open, allowing some of the room to be illuminated by what Cyrus assumed was the early morning sunlight. Where was he? He glanced around the room, and realized quickly what had happened, his mind snapping to one thought and one alone: “Y/N,” He muttered, still groggier than he thought he was, his words uneven as sleep lured him back, but before he fell completely asleep, he felt something move, and spotted you sleeping at his bedside, head against the edge of the bed. He smiled. You were okay, his last thought, before he placed his hand on your head, before falling back asleep.
Again, he woke up, but this time you were awake, on the phone. You stood by the window, staring out. You twirled your hair as you did when you were nervous, and he knew you were biting your lip. “He’s still asleep,” You paused as the other person spoke, and your tone grew agitated. “Of course, I want to, but you haven’t even found them yet, and I won’t leave his side until he wakes up. He’s my fiancée!”
“Good to hear that the wedding is still on,” You whipped around at the sound of his voice, a welcome smile breaking out across your face.
“You idiot,” You strode over to him, throwing your arms around him as your tears stained his hospital gown. “You idiot,” You repeated, voice breaking as you silently cried.
Your bags were dark as if you hadn’t slept in days, your hair was a complete mess tied into a bun, and your face was worn with both concern and relief. But you were still the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. “I get all tingly when you talk dirty, babe,” He joked, trying to lighten the mood, but you only choked out a sob. And he held you for several minutes in silence, enjoying the fact he still could, and how right it felt.
After you got the nurse to fetch him a meal and got him his meds, the two of you sat again in complete silence, your eyes trained on him. It felt as if right when your eyes would wander, he would disappear. He would be gone. “Am I that attractive? I could give you my phone, you could take a picture,” You rolled your eyes, ignoring his remarks. Even in a hospital bed, any excuse to pull out that damn phone. He sighed, “Y/N, I’m okay. It would take more than a crazed gunman to take me down. Did you guys capture all the guys?”
“We did,” You lied, without missing a beat. The leader of the Italian mafia had escaped custody in the confusion with the machine gun. Lupo’s gunshot wound was merely a distraction, and his death would have been nearly a benefit. “I was so scared,” You managed to splutter, moving back to face him.
“Me too,” He admitted, but he pressed a kiss to your knuckles. “But we made it through, that’s what matters, and you got them so I suppose it wasn’t a complete waste of time,” He used your words from before, a smile pulling at his lips as he tried to do the same. He was right, and now the two of you could focus on preparing for the wedding. No cases or work for him, and he hoped you could get time off as well, but as he embraced you again, he didn’t see your gaze drift back to your cellphone, eyes narrowing as you spotted your unit chief’s message: We found him. Are you in?
You pulled him into a kiss, his lips warm and comforting, as you smiled for the first time since he had awoken. “No, it wasn’t.”
I’m in.

Cyrus Lupo // Collateral
Tumblr media
Summary: You and Lupes cared about each other, but the courage to say it outright? Not so much. Until, this happened...
Warnings: brief mentions of blood due minor injury
2,971 words
You enjoyed working at the D.A.’s office, but there was always something special about when you got to get out of the courthouse or One Hogan Place-- and tag along with the detectives somewhere. Detective Lupo always made Detective Bernard sit in the back, because you were the guest. Bernard let it go, after you said you appreciated it and so did your stomach, avoiding car-sickness. He didn’t want to chance it, neither did you.
Except when you sat up front, you started to have another fluttering feeling. It started to happen when you let yourself glance at Lupo occasionally. It wasn’t intentional at first, just a random occurrence. Then somehow you enjoyed seeing how his eyes crinkled at something you said, how his hair stuck stupidly out from his navy beanie, how his bearded smile or low chuckle was something to look forward to. Because it was contagious and made your day-- typically dark due to the subject matter of your jobs-- a little brighter. You liked hanging out with both detectives though, you all had a rapport that worked and balanced each other, and you self-centeredly assumed that they liked working with you more over Cutter.
You had accompanied Lupo and Bernard to execute a search warrant of a property you believed was unoccupied. You were there to confirm logistics, because in the past, little grammatical and inferences on the spot, messed up what technically meant what was and wasn’t able to be searched, and evidence got thrown out and threw a wrench in the case. You didn’t want that happening here. The detectives went to knock on the front door, out-of-courtesy, and peered into the front windows which were covered. You heard a faint noise, one that they hadn’t picked up on. You wondered if you had heard it at all, as you were leaning against the car by the road, coat in your hands now since the warm sun had been shining on your waiting frame. Your feet, however, were curious, and wandered in the direction of the sound you thought you heard further around the house. You noticed a side-door, and turned your head to check the surroundings. That’s when out of nowhere you suddenly felt a force pushing you to the ground, your arms immediately stretching out to prevent your head from hitting the asphalt.  You yelped as you made contact, sliding against dirt on the pavement. The prior disturbance and running feet, enough for Lupo and Bernard to notice.
Moments before, Lupo had briefly turned from where he was at the porch, noticing your silhouette no longer by the car. He knew you wouldn’t listen, but he still warned you every time.
“Dammit,” he mumbled out of an exhale, knowing you and your dogged inquisitiveness and also the twinge of trepidation that came with it. He quickly walked down and towards the front yard, until he heard the sounds of the scuffle. Then he ran.
“Guys! There’s someone!” Your adrenaline managed to yell out, as Lupo rounded the corner of the house, seeing your body still on the ground, at the same time a guy was running past him.
“Bernard!” He yelled,  “You’re one o’clock!”
Lupo started taking a step towards you, his mind torn at wanting to check on you, and wanting to chase after that guy, in a split-second. You saw him, debating, as you were half-way leaning up, “Lupes, I’m fine, go!” you ordered, without another thought.
He nodded at receipt of your instruction, as Bernard yelled something else to him. And then Lupo was gone. They managed to catch the guy off guard, and apprehend him. You missed the sight of it, muddling to get up, your arm sore from the unexpected injuries. You got up slower than you had intended, not wanting to put your pain and sudden fear on display. You knew the detectives would think twice about it next time, if you made this a big deal. And, it wasn’t a big deal. You were fine. Lupo met you again halfway, on your small trek back to the car, your one ankle feeling slightly off as you walked, but you didn’t say anything.
Your search was delayed, but a patrol was posted out-front in case other surprises were expected at the house. You went back to the precinct for the booking, annoyed that the day was disrupted. The guy in question was stuck in interrogation room #1 with Bernard only currently...
Because Lupo had to give himself another minute to stop the flames boiling his blood. He asked multiple times on the drive back, if you were okay. You said you were, secretly nursing your sore arm underneath the coat around your shoulders. It could’ve been worse you assured him. He still wasn’t satisfied, his eyes glaring underneath his aviator sunglasses at the idiot in handcuffs in the back-seat. Cyrus knew you could’ve gotten a concussion, or that guy could’ve had a gun. He stopped those same thoughts stuck again on a loop, sensing the tension running from his chest outward. He already went over-the-speed limit driving back. He needed to calm down then, and he still wasn’t any better now, staring at the man behind the two-way mirror. His hand balled into a fist. Lupo crossed his arms, covering up his overbeating heart-- that you were stuck in a part of, permanently, despite if he knew it fully or not.
You held your coat in your hands again, watching over the conversation that wasn’t really much of one in the small room. You shifted, your breath hitching at a burning pain you felt as your arm moved against the fabric of your shirt.
Lupo turned, hearing your gasp in the silence. That’s when he observed the stain on your light grey sleeve. He called out your name forbearingly, to which you turned to,
“You’re bleeding,” he stated plainly, as your eyes now stared at him.
“What?” You dropped your head, rotating your arm, trying to hide the sharp pain that increased when doing so, “Ugh,” you cleared your throat to shove the pain back down, “I’ll be fine.”
He ignored you completely, “No, at least let me get you a bandage, it’s bleeding still. I’ll be right back.”
You couldn’t argue against it, because he had already left the room. You inspected the wound, knowing the ache was growing and he was right, it was bleeding again. The bright red mixing with the darker dried colour on your sleeve, you wondered what bruises were forming underneath the surface. You realized you were lucky, aware of some of the other risks that could have happened. You knew you’d be okay, you could handle yourself, you always had.
“This was all I could find,” Lupo’s voice called out again, gesturing to the band-aid and alcohol wipe in either of his hands.
“Cyrus,” you gently whined. It was a name you liked, but never said much, falling from your lips in warning, “You don’t have to.”
“Well, my guilt says otherwise,” he argued, opening the cloth, before holding out his one hand for your arm to rest on.
“It wasn’t your fault, though, it was mine.”
“Technically, yes,” he agreed obviously, as he held back a smirk, “But without you as a distraction I don’t think the perp would’ve ran towards the front of the house and towards us,” he explained, calmly, as he cleaned up the wound, “so he could’ve gotten away.”
He felt your arm flinch at the strong sting of the alcohol. The grip of his one hand, which supported your arm, sensed your reaction, his thumb comfortingly grazing the unhurt skin as a distraction for you. He hadn’t even noticed he was doing it.
Regardless, it worked, your pain fading as your own heart fluttered again. Your brain tried to remind you there was an interview going on a few feet from you, a different wrench in the current case. That this was totally unnecessary too. But you were still engulfed in the small act of caring willingly offered. Even if your face thought nothing of it on the surface, you tried to keep those feelings that were creeping in, at bay. You looked up at the compassionate detective, feeling the band-aid just freshly pressed against the wound, knowing he was finished tending to you.
“Thank you,” you, quietly and sincerely, uttered-- your softened voice causing a tug at the edges of Lupo’s lips that he fought to show fully.
“You-- you didn’t have to do this,” you meekly added.
“I know,” his low voice answered, before nodding, “I wanted to.”
Your eyes got caught in his gaze. You had intended to be nonchalant, but you failed. Or, Cyrus Lupo just observed your eyes enough to know differently. He saw the gratefulness, the vulnerability, the uneasiness. And, he thought he saw something else too, but wasn’t sure, because it was a new look.
His stare was so genuine, but at the same time too profound-- like he figured out how to get through every lock you put on the invisible doors into your head. It scared you, but at the same time you didn’t want to look away. A small smile was still sitting near his lips, coming into full view now, which caused you to mirror the expression on your face.
“Alright, apparently, Leon Anders...”
Reality snapped back to both of you, as Bernard’s voice hit your pairs of ears. You hadn’t been watching the room to see that the other detective had left.
“...Am I interrupting something?” Bernard questioned, his eyebrows raising at the odd sight of two-working professionals previously sharing smiles in the silence.
“Uh, inside joke.” Lupo easily explained, his head turning away to hide the burn that was traveling from his ears to his cheeks, scratching his beard.
“You’re not that funny, Lupes,” Bernard quipped back, with a tilt of his head, eyes still traveling between both of your faces.
“Leon Anders, what’s his deal?” You asked, interrupting the confused, awkward, and doubtful air in the room surrounding everyone now.
Bernard’s eyes narrowed, but he didn’t push it, “Anders was apparently squatting in the house, as he was told to stay there until he heard future instructions from Minetti, but then never did.”
“Does he know about--” Lupo began to inquire, Bernard knowing where he was going,
“I’m not sure. But, how he’s handled things up to this point, I’m guessing no.”
“Well, you can still keep him right now, give him an hour to see if he gets talkative again,” you added.
“I’m going to cross-reference the names to see if anything comes up. You can try a run at him, if you want,” Bernard offered to Lupo, before going to leave the room.
“Wait,” you called out, the detective stopping at the doorway, “What about the search warrant? Why wait on that any longer?”
“Yeah, Anders may or may not know something-- most likely not, but if anything is stashed away-- we can find it and confirm it immediately,” Lupo reasoned, “Or before anything else happens.”
“Well if you’re up for it,” Kevin asked, his own concern evident over what happened to you earlier, “then by all means.”
Bernard knew since you two suggested it, you two wanted to go together, and he wouldn’t intervene. It’s not like he never saw both of you sneaking glances at each other from the backseat. Come on, he was a reasonable guy. He rolled his eyes at it, but he wasn’t one to meddle.
You and Lupo shared one glance of agreement, before walking alongside each other to the exit without a word. You didn’t know if Cyrus was going to say anything before Bernard dropped in. You hadn’t had anything planned, besides continuing to grin there like an idiot. Ugh, you couldn’t stop it. Maybe you did hit your head, and didn’t realize it. First-aid wasn’t anything to read into. Speaking of injuries, you and your sore foot were thankful the car wasn’t parked in the farther lot.
When you walked down the steps of the precinct, the ankle you thought had stopped hurting decided to give out on you, without warning. You felt your leg buckle, your balance shift, and fear rise into your throat as you started to fall forward the last remaining couple of feet. Your voice made an unintelligible squeak in response to the impending injury. Your eyes shut and because of that-- you missed the keen reaction time of Cyrus Lupo, who had jumped off the last three steps, which wasn’t really much for his longer legs, and swung his body around in front of yours to catch you as gingerly as he could.
Your body stayed upright, and fell against soft layers of fabric over a strong chest, instead of the predicted concrete.
“Woah there,” Lupo exclaimed, mixing in his sarcasm,  “No new parkour tricks on my watch.”
Your eyes shot open, and there he was with that scruffy smile. Dammit.
“You alright?” Lupo asked, eyebrows raising, noticing you hadn’t said anything.
You swallowed the lump in your throat, and nodded a yes. Your brain couldn’t process words-- too frazzled over the multiple messages from your nervous system: pain, embarrassment, and a feeling that flooded your cheeks when you sensed someone’s strong hands snug around your waist just moments ago. In addition, your arm was ringing in pain from being jarred again. You squinted your eyes, trying to hide not only yourself, but also your hurting-- your other arm tending to your injured one.
At your response, Cyrus stepped a foot back, his arms letting you go, but not his gaze, which was still uncertain, “What about your arm? It doesn’t seem all right,” the detective inquired, his voice kind, but adamant.
“It’s just sore, like my ankle, I guess,” you replied as nonchalantly as you could, hating that you were admitting this out-loud.
“Do you need--”
“No. No hospital,” you cut him off, as you walked to the passenger side-door, “Let’s go. I’ve added to the delay enough.”
Cyrus hadn’t followed you. He was still on the curb, staring at you, shaking his head at you and your stubbornness.
“I’m fine!” you argued flatly, arms outstretched like it wasn’t a big deal, then gesturing to him to hurry up.
He unlocked the car, and you got inside, rolling your eyes to yourself. You hoped your blush had died down by now.
Lupo rolled his eyes, before approaching the car. He sighed, before opening the door and getting into the driver’s seat. The door shut and the engine started. You sensed the air was filling with aggravation. You bit your lip, pausing in thought, “Lupes?”
He tilted his head towards you, waiting for whatever you were going to say.
“I don’t want you guys worrying about me. It’s not necessary. It takes energy away from the job you do and it’s not fair to the victims. But uh, thank you for preventing me from getting a face lift from the ground right now,” you said, forcing a laugh, trying to shift the tone of conversation you had created.
“You’re welcome.”
Lupo debated himself in regards to saying anything more right then, but as he saw how your loose hair was framing your face, how the light falling from the window hit your eyes and made them flicker with some enticing glow, and how your mere presence existing in the passenger seat made him feel better, he couldn’t help it.
“I do actually like your face very much the way it is,” Lupo assured with a lopsided grin, as you felt a flutter behind your coat’s collar, “But unfortunately, you can’t control what other people worry about. It just comes with the territory of the job.”
“Well, thanks I guess, but I don’t need it.”
“When people care about other people, Y/N, they just do. It’s not something based on need.” Cyrus calmly argued, arm leaning against the steering wheel.
“You care about me?” Your brain blurted out, unconvinced at the fact or that you actually needed to hear it.
“Yes, of course I do.”
“Duly noted,” you said, your own heart feeling too vulnerable in this smaller space, spilling over with something you hadn’t felt in some time, you took a deep breath, looking out the windshield, “I care about you too, you know.”
Lupo’s cheekbones rose with a small smirk, “Duly noted,” he mirrored, before adding, “But, if I have to prevent another workplace injury today, I’m going to have to start seeking reimbursement for medical costs.”
“How about dinner?” You boldly stated, leaving it open-ended, just in case, sneaking a glance at him after the last word left your lips. He saw that same new look in your eyes and suddenly he understood what it meant.
“Dinner?” His eyebrows raised, slightly surprised, his head leaning to the side, contemplating the question he already knew the answer to, “I’d like that.”
“Good,” you agreed, “my cooking is the collateral,” you noted, before getting back to the case at hand.
“Wait-- are you a good cook, though?” His eyes jokingly wide, “I want reciprocity made in good faith here.”
“Did you manage to get through another chapter of your law book?” You bantered right back.
He arched his eyebrow, “It was two chapters, actually. And, I still didn’t get an answer.”
“Shut up, and yes,”  you said, before continuing with the case.
Cyrus let you talk and listened, his smirk turning into a grin to himself, as he put on his sunglasses. He put the car in gear and started the drive back to the house. He made sure not to speed, this time. Taking the slower side streets, on purpose. You didn’t mind, stealing another glance of him as he drove.

Found Love Chapter 2: Their Future
Disclaimer: I do not own Law and Order, Dick Wolf and NBC do. Not beta'd.
Author's Note: What if after all this time Connie had been eyeing Lupo finally gets the courage to act on her crush?
Mentions of/ Spoilers for: Charity Case (17.12)
"I want to have kids you know? I wanna wake up with them in the morning make 'em breakfast, see 'emoff to school, and tuck 'em in at night. I just can't imagine seeing that as a burden."
"Some people are wired wrong. Ugliest part of our work."
The weeks following their getting together were the happiest as they have ever been, even their colleagues could see. Since Connie worked under Mike Cutter and Jack McCoy and Lupo worked under Lt. Van Buren, there were no fraternization issues.
It wasn't long before Connie took Cyrus to meet her large family. Her family included father Donato Rubirosa, mother Josefina Bell, step-father Simon Bell, and her siblings, their respective spouses of her nieces and nephews. Josefina loved Cyrus right away and began mothering him when she heard that his mother was long dead. Though a little wary at first, Donato was still in the habit of blaming any and all who said his medical degree didn't qualify at first. Donato warmed up him when he heard his father was absent for a long time. Her step-father became a combination of uncle and second father figure to Cyrus. Her brothers took pity on him when they heard what transpired between him and his older brother.
While Lupo was with his parents and brothers, her two older sisters Ximena and Isidora, pulled her aside. Ximena said, "Now we all know you had a fling with Marcus Woll."
Connie held her breath, and Isidora said, "Don't worry, Ximena and I, along with Gael and Luciano, have never told Mami and Papi, or Simon about your fling. We all love Cyrus, and he’s much better than that, Marcus Woll. We had no idea how bad Woll was until I saw him in the news for what he did. We are all so glad you didn't end up with that slimeball. One, he would have broken your heart and discarded you like yesterday's trash, and two Mami and Papi would have disowned you for sure."
Connie, at this point, was all smiles. She right decision in deciding to choose someone who isn't in the law profession, especially after what had transpired with a now-disgraced former defense attorney. By
Weeks later, they were having a leisurely day in Central Park spending time walking Otto when they heard, "Cyrus!"
Lupo and Connie turned around and saw it was Jenny Lupo, Cyrus' late brother's widow. Lupo groaned. Lupo sighed. Talking to his sister in front of Connie was the last thing he wanted to speak with Jenny while with Connie. Catching up to them and completely ignoring that Connie was there, Jenny boldly asked, "Do you want to go for either coffee, drinks, or dinner?"
Lupo said hesitantly, "Jenny, I don't think that is a good idea. No, I am not interested in getting back together."
Not used to not getting her way, Jenny whined. "But Cyrus."
Connie knew of how Jenny was dating Lupo before getting on him and marrying his brother. Connie wasn't going to stand around and let Jenny steal Cyrus from her when his heart belonged to her. Connie cleared her voice, interrupting the conversation, "Mrs. Lupo, or should I say, Jenny, I know about your history with Cyrus and Tom. Now you have made your decision about who you really wanted to be with. Now I suggest that you stay away from Cyrus."
Jenny heard that Cyrus was dating the ADA from the District Attorney's office. She protested, "What can the lawyer lady give you that I can't?"
Connie butted back, "I have a name. To answer your question, loyalty. Plus, if you don't back off, I will find ways to make your life miserable."
Jenny wanted to say something else, but Connie added quickly, "Don't even think of bringing up the issue of our relationship. Our superiors know and have no problems with us being together. Now I suggest you leave and never come near us or anyone we know again."
Jenny huffed and walked off, defeated. Cyrus looked at Connie with a whole level of appreciation. Lupo pulled her into his arms and giving her a quick and sweet kiss, Lupo said, "That was so hot, Consuela, remind me to never get on your bad side."
Connie smiled. In a loving voice, she said, "Of course, Lupo, you know I will never stand for another woman trying to lure you away from me."
By May, everything in life was going well. Then she was pregnant. She thought and remembered the case that caused it.
Two and a half months earlier, mid-March 2010
The case that she was put on the first chair by Jack was a real heartbreaker. The parents were getting a divorce had a son and a daughter. The son was the apple of his father's eye, and the daughter could do no wrong in her mother's eye. The father took it a step further and decided to put out a contract on his daughter's life to kidnap and snuff out to hurt the mom. Not only had convinced the jury that the killer was guilty, but she made the father look just as guilty.
The moment she got home to their shared apartment, she saw that Lupo was already there, setting the dinner table. Without another second wasted, she kicked off her shoe and stored her briefcase away, went to him. Wrapping her arms around him, Connie began kissing his neck. Lupo turned around, and she pulled him down and planted a wet one on him. Putting what he had in his hand, and took Connie into his arms and reciprocated the kiss. When they parted lips, Lupo knew it was because of the case she worked on with Bernard. He would have been there but had been called away on a case that needed his expertise.
Connie whispered, "Forget dinner, Cyrus, I want you, and I want you now."
Without giving him a chance to speak, Connie maneuvered him to their room and left a clothing trail as they did so and soon have her way with him.
Back to the present day, May 2010
A few weeks following their special night, she began to She had not been feeling well. When she realized she was late, she did one pregnancy test, followed by confirmation from her doctor.
Now she needed to tell Cyrus, and she knew a perfect way and set about to get ready to say to her beau of the exciting news.
Lupo got home from the precinct, just after six. It had been a long day. They apprehended the suspect, but with Connie having a day off, he had to face Mike one of his random intense twenty questions modes. Normal he didn't mind, but today it seemed like more than twenty questions, which grated his nerves since he and Bernard didn't get much sleep. But nevertheless, Lupo swore it was his duty to help with the investigation and uphold the law.
However, when he saw his wife setting the table for dinner, he smiled. He loved the nights when he and Connie had authentic Mexican food. With her back to him, he snuck up and surprised her wrapping his arms and kissing her neck and shoulder. She jumped a little bit, but when she felt Lupo's lips on her, she then calmed down and melted into his embrace. She loved his spontaneity.
Lupo whispered, "I missed you, Connie."
Connie whirled around and kissed him: "I missed you too, my love. I have a surprise for you."
Lupo's curiosity was piqued, "Oh? What is it?"
Connie grinned slyly and said, "If I told you it wouldn't be a surprise, would it? You'll just have to wait and see."
Now Lupo really wanted to know but knew he had to wait.
After they had their dinner and their drinks, Connie could not wait any longer. As soon as they were done and the dishes were washed and put away, and Connie pulled him to the couch and said, "Lupo, there is something I need to tell you. This gift will help explain it."
Connie produced a rectangular box, and Lupo took it. Taking off the lid and then the wrapping paper. He saw a photo frame with the words "Daddy and Me" engraved in gold on the bottom.
Lupo looked up at his girlfriend, and Connie said, "Read the note."
Lupo did so and when he did. The letter read, 'Hi daddy, I can't wait to meet you in December 2010. See you then.'-Baby girl or boy Lupo
Lupo looked up with a surprised face. "Are you really…?"Connie nodded with a big grin appearing on her face. Lupo placed the photo frame on the coffee table, and he jumped up, pulled her up, picked her up, and spun her around, causing Connie to squeal with joy. Putting her back on solid ground, Lupo bent down and kissed her non-existent baby belly. He whispered, "Hi, baby, I’m your daddy. Your mom and I love you so much already. Can't wait to meet you!"
Lupo himself was so happy that Connie loved children as much as he does. He had heard about the case of Sofia Archer. Sofia, who had been a well-known soap opera star who was convicted for causing the death of the newborn she had adopted. Lupo knew that Connie had been affected by the case and her desire to have children and be a loving and attentive mother. He wanted to have a family with the right person. Now he had Connie to complete his dreams.
For the time being, they decided not to tell anyone at work, at least not until Connie was safely past ten weeks. They also wanted to wait and tell her family for the same reason. They knew it would be challenging since the people they worked with can instantly put the puzzle pieces together.
They did stay mum and tried to avoid the subject as much as possible. But as the weeks went by, Lupo knew it was the right thing to do and marry her as soon as possible as he did get Connie pregnant before out of wedlock. For that, he would need to propose and at the right time. It wasn't until they were at a fundraiser for their Lt. Lupo boldly spoke up and said, "Sorry, Lieu, for stealing your thunder, but I have good news."
Lt. Van Buren said jovially, "Well, since I shared good news twice over, let's keep the good news going."
Lupo nodded. He turned and faced Connie and began, "Connie baby, I never really knew thought I would get to experience true love until I met you. The time we have spent together have been the best ever. You’re re smart, loving, caring, loyal, and work tirelessly to help bring justice for the victim's family. Playing husband and wife during one of our cases gave me a preview of our lives. I don't ever want to without you any longer. So, without further ado..."
Lupo brought out the ring box he had been carrying since he found out that she was carrying his child three months earlier. Opening it, he then got down on one knee shocking everyone to all the exception to Bernard, Lieutenant Van Buren, Jack, and Mike.
Lupo asked, "Miss Consuela Luisa Rubirosa, I love you so much, will you marry me?"
Connie's hands flew to her mouth as she let out an audible gasp. She was surprised beyond relief. They hadn't been together long, and she sure didn't see that coming. Yes, she would have just been happy to live the rest of her life with him. She knew just how to answer. Taking both his hands, she pulled him up. Once he was up, she placed her hands on his face, pulled him close, and gave him the biggest wettest kiss she had ever given him.
This led to cheers and catcalls from all who were there. Lupo looked into Connie's eyes when they parted lips and asked, "Is that a yes?"
Connie replied, "I love you, Cyrus Lupo. Of course I will marry you, you big goofball!"
With the most prominent and goofiest grin he had ever smiled, he took the ring out and slid it on to her finger. Lupo then leaned in for a brief kiss before pressing their foreheads together. As the crowd cheered, Connie asked in a hushed voice, "Should we tell them?"
Lupo knew what she was talking about. Connie turned around and saw all eyes were on him, and she said, "Everyone do you remember how I said I don't know who my baby's father is? Well, I do, and with his permission, I can."
Mike has a feeling he knew who it was but kept his mouth shut. Bernard also had a feeling but feigned being dumb and asked, "Who is the lucky guy?"
Lupo wound his arms around Connie's waist, and his hands rested on her stomach. He said with a bright smile on his face, "You're looking at him, B."
The crowd erupted in another round of cheers. I they had been congratulated by everyone there.
When they arrived back her place, Connie pushed him in a wall and whispered, "You are a naughty boy, stealing the light from you CO like that and surprising me like that. You are so going to get your punishment tonight."
Lupo smiled. He knew that her hormones were coming into play. At any given time, she could be very happy or very sad.
Soon after the reveal, Connie and Lupo had wanted to get married in a small and intimate ceremony. While Lupo was okay with just a civil ceremony, he knew that Connie's religious family wouldn't be happy with either one of them. He knew that it would not be acceptable to start off on the wrong foot with the in-laws. The lieutenant was more than happy to have the limelight taken off of her. She called in a favor owed to her by a friend who happened to be a Catholic priest who could squeeze Connie and Lupo in on short notice and get them ready for a Catholic wedding and marriage.
However, the lieutenant wasn't the only person who pulled strings. The lieutenant's favor set off a domino effect: Bernard helped get the photographer and Lupo a tuxedo. In contrast, Jack's assistant Maureen helped her find a dress suitable for a quick wedding florist, and Jack helped with the reception. The biggest surprise was how Mike managed to get everyone at the DA office to chip in for their honeymoon. Connie and Lupo couldn't be more grateful to have the best group of friends a couple could ask for.
I two months of planning, Connie called her family to St. Andrew's Roman Catholic Church and surprised them. It was right before lunch when the entire family showed up.
When they were all in the sanctuary waiting, Connie and Lupo walked out to greet them. Josefina asked, "What is going on, mi hija? Why did you ask us to come to meet you here?"
Connie began, "I called you here today for a reason."
Taking her beau's hand, she continued, "Cyrus and I decided we are ready to start the next chapter of our lives together. We are getting married today right now as a matter of fact."
When her family heard, they all jumped for joy and congratulated them. While his children and their families were congratulating the bride-to-be. Donato figured out why. He may not be overly nosy about his grown children's lives, but something is right about his youngest daughter.
Before the start, Connie's sisters and nieces went with her to get ready while the brother and Bernard went with him to prepare. I about an hour, it was time to start. I her nieces came down the aisle with the bridesmaid and maid of honor, the organist began to play the bridal chorus. When Lupo saw Connie appear with her dad being her escort, he felt his heart stop beating for a brief moment. She looked gorgeous in an off the shoulder long-sleeved lace and tulle trumpet mermaid style gown with a sweeping train. Not to mention seeing her beautiful glowing face under the long cathedral veil.
Thank goodness he had Bernard as the best man. Bernard saw his sway and said, "Lupes, I don't want you to faint in front of your beautiful bride right when she reaches the altar."
That helped. I Donato joined Connie's right hand with his left, Connie handed her bouquet to Isidora when they joined hands. It wasn't long before they were in their own world, and the ceremony quickly went by. One thing was for sure, by the end of the ceremony, there wasn't a dry eye in the crowd, at least with the women, of course. Once they left the ceremony and the guests were at The Foundry celebrating with all who attended the ceremony.
There both Connie and Lupo announced the most important news to her family. Using a fork, Connie gently tapped the glass she had in her hand and said, "Everyone there is another reason we are celebrating today."
While knowing what it could be about, Donato asked, "¿Que es mi Consuela? (What is it, my Consuela?)
Connie could tell even her stepfather was eager to hear the news. Connie looked at Lupo, who then passed around the gift that was for the grandparents. He walked the present over to his mother and father-in-law, crouched down, and presented them with a nearly flat box. Lupo said, "The reason is here, mama."
Josefina loved that Cyrus already called her mama, took it first and ripped into the paper, and when she saw the framed photo, she screamed. She looked up and asked, "¿Es verdad mi hija, estás embarazada?" (Is it true, my daughter, you're pregnant?)
Connie replied with a bright smile and said, "Sí ama, Cyrus y yo seremos padres en Diciembre." (Yes, mom, Cyrus, and I are going to be parents in December.)
~Six months later, December 5, 2010~
Connie Rubirosa-Lupo had been in labor for ten hours when she was finally fully dilated. Cyrus was there all the way, whispering sweet words into her ears and wiping the sweat from her forehead. However, for a short while, Connie wasn't having it. In between pushes, she yelled out, "You S.O.B.! You are never touching me again, you hear me, never!"
Cyrus knew that it was the drugs talking, and in a few weeks, they would be all over each other again.
After half an hour of pushing, their daughter Mercedes Kehlani Lupo came into this world at 7lbs 12 ounces and 20.5 inches long, screaming at the top of her lungs. Lupo kissed her face gently, and Lupo said, "We did it, baby, you and me. Our darling Mercedes is here."
A now calm Connie replied, "I love you too, Cyrus. I am so sorry for all those rants."
The nurse then said, "Detective Lupo, you may want to go and update the crowd of people in the waiting room. I am sure they are getting really impatient by now."
Lupo nodded. After kissing his wife and newborn daughter headed out of the room and to the waiting room. As Lupo went and told those waiting in the waiting room, Connie continued her skin contact with baby Mercedes. Connie held their daughter and stroked her skin knowing that her dreams of motherhood have been achieved and that it was only beginning. She vowed she would always be there. Connie then whispered, "Mommy and daddy love you, baby girl."
When he arrived in the waiting room, he saw everyone there.
Bernard was the first to see his partner walk towards them. They all jumped up, and Bernard said, "So, Lupes, are you going to tell us or keep us in suspense?"
With a smile on his face, Lupo said, "Connie and I would like to announce the birth of our daughter Mercedes Kehlani Lupo, 7lbs 12 ounces and 20.5 inches long."
Everyone in the waiting room cheered when they heard the news. Bernard went and congratulated the new dad. Cyrus brought out the box of chocolate cigars with a pink ribbon and gave each person a cigar.
Everyone agreed to go home to get some rest before coming back the next day during visiting hours. Lupo knew that the Rubirosa along with Connie's mother and step-father would be coming in full force.
Connie and Lupo found happiness in their lives when they found love in each other.
A/N 2: Thanks for reading the ending of "Found Love". As always reviews are appreciated.

Tumblr media
Cyrus has always been open with his affection. Light touches, tender caresses and kisses that leave you aching for more. You think about that as you sit upon a barstool, clad in a pretty wrap dress sipping lemonade through a straw and watching yet another man slink away into the crowd.
“That’s the third guy in an hour.” He says as he cleans down the bar alongside of you. “A lot of lonely hearts in New York.”
“At this point it’s just depressing.” You tell him before turning your attention back to Cyrus. He’s dressed as one of the bartenders in a white shirt with a bowtie and bracers. You have to admit the look does something for you. You imagine sliding into his lap the way you used to, his fingertips ghosting up your thighs as your hands thread through his hair.
“He’s not coming tonight.” He murmurs, talking about the suspect. “Looks like we both got dressed up for nothing.”
“Hm,” You say, your gaze lingering on the outfit he’s wearing.
“Really?” He asks you, his palm smoothing over the crisp white shirt that he’s wearing.
“A little.” You tell him, poking at the ice cubes in your glass with your straw.
Cyrus leans forward, his elbows coming to rest upon the bar. The scent of his aftershave floods your senses, and it reminds you of nights wrapped up in his sheets, limbs entangled as he made love you with a passion you’ve never felt before or after.
“So, after this…” he trails off because he can’t bring himself to say it, to hope.
“Maybe.” You tell him with a heated gaze. “If you keep the outfit.”

Tumblr media
You had always known Anita Van Buren to be very, very honest. And she didn’t particularly care if someone didn’t like what she had to say. In this instance, however, you found that rather hilarious.
You were Van Buren’s personal secretary, not to mention one of her closest friends in the precinct. She knew everything about you, including the slight infatuation you had with a certain detective.
Lupo and Bernard had recently been investigating the death of a reporter, leading them to make a connection between her and a talk show host named Vanessa Carville.
As the four of you watched a portion of her show, you felt Lupo’s tall stature practically looming over you. He offered you a small smile when you glanced at him over your shoulder.
As Van Buren turned down the volume of her television, she looked at the detectives with suspicion, “Vanessa Carville?”
“Megan Kerik wasn’t writing an article about women sleeping with their bosses,” explained Bernard, referring to the victim of their case. “She was writing about women who were sleeping with Vanessa Carville.”
You nodded slowly, examining the woman on the television screen. The detectives’ investigation seemed to be going in the right direction.
“That may have included Megan,” said Lupo. “It turns out that before she reduced herself to digging up gossip for CitySmear, she was a production associate on The Sisters.”
Van Buren shook her head, and replied, “I love this show! It’s a great way of turning off your brain for an hour.”
“Would you love it as much if you knew Vanessa Carville was plowing through her female employees?” asked Lupo.
You spared another glance at him, and agreed, “She’s married, and she has a family.”
Bernard jumped in, “If she caught wind what Megan was writing about...”
Van Buren slowly nodded, and sighed, “Go see her. You know, if it were for anything else, I’d ask you to get me some tickets to the show.”
The two men nodded. As Lupo brushed past you, he whispered a quiet apology when he rested his hands against your shoulders. You waved your hand dismissively.
“And one more thing!” said Van Buren, causing the men to stop in their tracks. “You know, I don’t know what kind of ‘downtown look’ you guys are going for with the stubble and all, but it’s not working.”
You tried to smother your laughter by covering your mouth, but it didn’t seem to work very well. Lupo raised his eyebrows at you, and then he smirked at Van Buren, “For downtown or for you?”
Van Buren narrowed her eyes at them, and said, “Both.”
You turned away as Lupo looked at you once more. It was becoming harder to muffle your laughter at Van Buren’s comments. She had never been one to hold back.
However, you could no longer contain yourself as she continued, “Have you looked in a mirror lately, Detective?”
Lupo and Bernard gave you amused expressions as you burst into laughter. Van Buren gave you a wink, letting you know that she was having just as much fun.
“All right,” shrugged Lupo, chuckling at the sight of you.
Bernard smiled as he followed his partner out of Van Buren’s office, “Okay then.”
Lupo couldn’t stop himself from glancing at you one more time, smiling as you continued to laugh with Van Buren. Even if it was at his own expense.
Tumblr media
You waited patiently for the department’s coffee machine to brew a fresh pot. Van Buren had warned everyone that the office would be in for a long night, and you wanted to prepare yourself.
Nearly releasing a sigh of relief once the coffee was done, you poured a cup for yourself and quickly began adding creamer.
“Hey.”
You barely stopped yourself from accidentally knocking over your cup. Lupo chuckled as he moved to stand next to you, muttering, “Sorry.”
You shook your head, watching as he leaned against the counter and crossed his arms over his broad chest. You blinked and forced yourself not to stare, instead turning your attention to the coffee in front of you.
“It’s okay,” you replied. “How is your investigation going?”
He sighed, rubbing a hand over his face, “Our only suspect is being blackmailed, so we’ve hit a dead end for now. And she claims that she hasn’t spoken to our victim in over a year.”
You offered him a smile, “I’m sure you’ll figure something out.”
Lupo examined you closely as he watched you stir your coffee. He then decided to get a cup for himself. He glanced at you from the corner of his eye, and asked, “So what do you think?”
Your eyebrows furrowed in confusion, “About what?”
“My ‘downtown look,’ as Van Buren put it.”
You failed to stop a smile from spreading across your lips. As you finished preparing your coffee, you quickly took a sip before replying, “I think it looks good, but you want to visit a barber shop... be my guest.”
Lupo chuckled, eyes following you as you gently patted his shoulder before finally leaving the room.
Tumblr media
It wasn’t too long after your encounter with Lupo in the break room that he surprised you again. He and Bernard had started working on a new case only a few days earlier, which left you to collect some files for Van Buren.
As you entered the bullpen, you immediately heard her voice: “—without the beards, you guys look five years younger.”
You looked up from the reports in your hand, raising your eyebrows at the sight of Lupo and Bernard. Both men seemed to have taken Van Buren’s comments on their ‘downtown looks’ into consideration. Both of their faces were freshly shaven, making them look much different compared to their previous appearances.
Van Buren took the files from your hands before finally disappearing into her office. Lupo gave you a small smile as he spread his arms out, and asked, “Well? What’s the opinion?”
You smiled back, taking a moment to glance at the floor, “Like I said, Detective... I think it looks good.”
Lupo’s eyes followed you as you joined Van Buren in her office. As you closed the door, he felt himself flush with excitement while you gave him a once-over before finally disappearing from sight.

I’m So Sorry
Tumblr media
Cyrus Lupo X Reader :) !!!
I’m So Sorry
You and Cyrus had been dating for a couple of years. You worked as a paramedic and would sometimes run into him on calls.
You fell so had for the brown eyes curly hair man. He was quiet  but once you got to know him he really opened up to you.
You were the one who asked him out. The two of you running into each after shift at a local coffee shop.
He agreed and the rest is history. The two of you were in that place in your relationship where he was moved in and you were just waiting for him to pop the question.
You two were such a good couple wanting the same things in life. Both focused on your careers but also wanting to start a family together to build a life with one another.
It made it easier on you both because you knew what it was like to work long shifts and hours.
You both also knew how the job can take a lot out of you at times.
Everyone was always telling you to leave it behind you when you clocked out but sometimes it was easier said than done.
The two of you could always lay it all out on the table and talk things through with one another.
But things lately have been different between the two of you
. Cyrus had become distant with you and things just haven’t been the same. He was working late nights a lot more than usual and even leaving early in the morning.
When he was home he would barely talk to you. Always saying he was tired or it was a long day. He wouldn’t even look or touch you anymore. The two of you hadn’t even had sex in months.
Cyrus would say he was tired or things like “Not tonight” or “I’m in not in the mood.”
If we're being honest it hurt your feelings. You thought he didn’t want you anymore that he didn’t care anymore.
You tried to see what was up with him because you felt like it was something more than just working late.
So today you got off work early and you texted him to see what he was doing.  He told you earlier that tonight he should be home for dinner.
He never replied to your text but you thought maybe he was just busy
. So around dinner time you drove over to the precinct to see him. You saw his partner Benard walking out but he wasn’t there.
You went over to see where he might have been
“Hey Kevin sorry to be bothering you but I’m wondering if you know where Cy is. He told me he was getting off early but I haven’t heard from him.” you asked
Kevin just looked at you with a surprise look on his face that he quickly tried to cover up.
“Hey Y/N yeah he told me he was on his way home so maybe you just missed him.” he said to you.
“Yeah right I’ll check back at home thanks “ you said and walked away.
Maybe he was home and you just missed him. You drove back to the shared apartment and there wasn’t anyone home.
No sign on him at all you tried to be worried or hurt maybe he was on his way home soon.
So you sat and waited and no one showed up. The hours went by fast and slow at the same time.
You were crushed as why he would lie to you. In the pit of your stomach you knew it was something going on that was not good.
You laid on the couch just letting the tears fall down your face. You ended up crying yourself to sleep.
You were woken up by someone coming in the front door. It was dark until you turned the light on by the lamp.
Cyrus was coming in he looked a mess his tie was barely on his shirt wrinkled and his hair was every where.
He looked at you with this look of confusion with a mix of oh shit i think i just got caught.
“Hey Y/N sorry to wake you up baby I thought you were sleeping.” He said
“Where the hell were you I waited up all night for you. And don’t lie to me I know you weren’t at work.” you said
He just looked at you with this sad look on his face. He came in closer in the apartment shutting the door and sitting on the couch.
He smelled of beer and alcohol. You knew it wasn;t good for him he had problems with it in the past.
A few minutes of science had passed and then he spoke up.
“I’m so sorry Y/n i really am I fucked up and I don’t know how to fix it.” he said there was sadness in his  voice you never heard before.
“Cy talk to me what happened “ you asked him.
“I had a pretty rough case with kids you know how that is for me and I didn’t even realize I was headed to a bar I just walked there and then next thing you know I was there drinking a lot and um I went home with someone else.” he said lowering his head.
You sat there shocked you couldn’t believe that he was drinking again and the fact he cheated on you.
I mean you had your suspicions  but to hear it was true it hurt even more.
“What I mean why and when how long has this been going on for” you asked
“Not long I swear okay it happened the one time i was drunk and wasn’t thinking clearly and when i realized i fucked up i kept going back to the bar because i felt so bad about what I did. Y/N if I was sober and thinking clearly I would have never” he said
“ I need some time okay why didn’t you come to me and talk to me about it?” Instead of drinking and cheating I mean you barely touch me anymore you barely look at me I thought you didn’t want  me anymore” you said truthfully
“I never meant for you to feel like that I’ve been so wrapped with guilt I didn’t know how to handle it I love you and never wanted to hurt you I swear to god.” Cyrus said grabbing your hand and looking at you.
The tears just kept falling from your eyes a lump in your throat you never had been so hurt before.
You loved him so much but now it seems as things were just different you couldn’t look at him the same.
You looked at him and you just saw him with another women and it just kept replaying in your head over and over.
“I’ll get you help with the drinking I promise but for right now I don’t know about us okay I need time it just hurts right now.” you said
You could see him nod his head and you could see the tears falling from his face. He just looked down at his hands not moving.
“Y/N what ever you need I’m here with you no matter what you want to do I love you so much. I want this to work I can’t loose you. Your the best thing that ever happened to me.  I can’t believe I fucked this up I never wanted to but your worth fighting for and I will always fight for you no matter how long or hard it takes” Cyrus said
“ I love you Cy I don’t know but I want to try I just need space right now you need to work on you and we need to work on us I just need a moment to get past it because I know your heart I know you and I never loved anyone the way I love you.” You said
Isn’t life crazy you thought one moment could ruin everything you had been building up just came crashing down.
You loved him you did and you knew it was a mistake but you didn’t know if you could move past it.
One Mistake could ruin everything. This amazing life you had for yourself seemed like it was just gone how could it happen so fast.
You wondered if you would ever look at him the same again. If these feelings would ever go away.
That this moment would just be a moment. That this was just a bump in your journey.
You had to try though because you couldn’t let this be it. You couldn’t be done with him you had to fight with everything because he was worth it.
This relationship was worth it. Cyrus was worth it.

First Dates
Tumblr media
The ER was crowded that night. There were a lot of patient’s doctors and people running around. You worked as a nurse practitioner so basically you were telling Doctors and everyone down there what to do.
That ER was run by you and everyone knew it. There was nothing going on that you didn’t know about. So when making your rounds you noticed a brown curly hair man sitting in the stretcher in the hallway.
He had blood on his shirt and it looked like it was a gunshot wound. You knew right away what you were looking at. He was just sitting there with some gauze pad on it. He seemed like a patient man not rushing to get help for his wounds.
You got some gloves and the necessary tools to help him. The closer you got to him you could tell he was a cop. The shoes and the suit gave him away so easy. As you approached him he looked up at you and offered a small smile.
“Hey what’s your name I am Y/N what happened to you.” you asked him as you sat your stuff down.
“Just a graze mostly nothing I can’t handle I didn’t wanna cause a scene.” he said in a soft tone barely looking up at you.
“Well this is my ER and I’ll be dammed if a Cop is sitting over here bleeding to death in a corner by himself.” you said as you took his hand off the gauze and started tending to his wound.
“How do you even know I’m a cop.” he said so softly chuckling to himself.
“It’s the suit and the shoes I can tell.” you said to him and he let out a small laugh he finally looked up at you.
You could tell he was starting to warm up to you
“So what kind of detective are you?” you asked
“Umm Homicide.” he told you
“Well we appreciate you putting the bad guys away I feel a lot safer with you out on the streets protecting and serving.” you said
“Well i try my best always a pleasure to protect someone like you.” He said to you
Damn he was cute you thought and was he flirting with you ? Or just being nice because you were his nurse.
So you decided to shoot your shot and flirt a little I mean worst case scenario you never saw him again.
“ I mean i should be thanking  you for coming in tonight seeing you made my day.” you said to him
“Well if I knew you were gonna be the one treating me I would have thanked the shooter.” he said to you looking up at you and your eyes locked. Damn even his eyes were beautiful.
You were just about done treating his wounds and he was all good it was through and through so it wasn’t that hard.
“Well sadly were all done here your all good to go back to new.” you said to him and honestly you were disappointed to see him go you were enjoying his company.
“I mean next time i’ll have the shooter do a little more damage so I can stick around longer.” he said to you. Making you laugh and he laughed along with you.
“Instead of trying to cause more boldly harm why don’t you take my number because wait til you see me out these damn scrubs I’ll blow your mind.” you told him.
Standing up from the stretcher he looked you up and down smirking to himself.
“I can’t wait to find out.” he said taking the piece of paper with your number on it.
That was about two weeks and you and Lupo have been non stop texting with each other. You had made plans to go out but the way both of your schedules had worked it was cancelled about 3 times.
It sucked because you felt like the two of you had a connection. On the other hand it was nice to know someone knew and appreciated your schedule.
You finally had a friday night off and you texted him to see if he was free. Which you were glad when he said he was.
It felt like you were a little kid again going on a date.  When you got home you changed outfits about 4 different times because you wanted to look perfect.
The two of you meant down at this little italian restaurant.  You knew the place it was popular in NYC among the locals. He looked so cute sitting there fidgeting with his fingers looking down at the ground.
You walked over to him and he looked up and smiled at you.
“Hey how are you”? You asked him eyeing up him and down he was looking good tonight.
“I mean you were right you do look a better out of the scrubs.” he said
You smiled and laughed and thanked him. You both made your way inside the restaurant where considering it was a Friday night it was beyond packed.
He looked at you with sorry eyes and you told him it was okay as the two of you headed out. He felt bad that date he had planned for the two you didn’t plan out.
The two of you walked hand and hand down the street just talking and laughing and it was like you two had known each other for a while like it wasn’t the first date. He made you feel safe and he cared and listened.
You two ended up down at the park not even paying attention to where you were going just caught up in the moment. Your stomach had growled loudly interrupting the conversation.
“Guess we gotta get you some food.” Lupo said looking up and laughing at you.
Considering you were down by the park there were a lot of food trucks around you.
“How about one of these trucks you said.” looking at him
“If you want to I’m fine with it, not the idea i originally had in mine for tonight.” Lupo said.
You two walked over and ordered and being the gentleman he is he paid for dinner.
You two sat on one of the park benches underneath this shady tree. The food was either really good or you were really hungry.
“I’m sorry this isn’t what I had in mine when i thought of tonight.” he said to you
“Don’t be its a perfect date with a perfect man” you told him.
One of those perfect NYC date nights with the most perfect man.

Misc. Law and Order Headcanons and Aesthetics
Lennie has some of the funniest wisecracks, and they never fail to make you laugh or make you smile. His hugs, seldom given, are comforting.
Van Buren keeps you all in line, but she is very grateful when people buy her food or coffee during long days, insisting she pay you back after some sarcastic quips about trying to get out of paperwork.
Ed Green tells it like it is, but will not hesitate to share a spare t-shirt or jacket if you need one.
Need a volunteer buddy? Serena Southerlyn. Serena has come into work in the winter without a heavy jacket, having given it to a woman in the street without a warm jacket. An intern she knows to soon be taking the bar exam is wished good luck.
Alexandra Borgia bakes cookies and brings them in on holidays. She is caring and thoughtful.
Sharing tea with Connie before the day really starts. Connie taking casework home. Her desk is decorated slightly for holidays.
Mike sneaking off into the office of a co-worker as if to talk work but actually discussing the Yankees game. Sometimes the faces he makes make you want to smack him. He's a great catch, toss him a marker or the ball off his desk, he'll catch it.
Jack McCoy once bought dinner for you after you forgot your packed one at home. He loves going out for breakfast and getting a hearty meal.
Nina Cassady makes for a great sparring partner. She also is helpful, but will not lie, even if it spares feelings. Hanging out with her is usually coffee houses, walks or runs in Central Park, and catching movies.
Ask Lupo about Otto, he totally has a picture of his doofus dog in his wallet. Lupo is super serious on the job, but a real sweetheart, and will not hesitate to check in on you.
Bernard is also a sweetheart who knows how to lighten up a room. He is a great friend and gives amazing hugs. Also is frustratingly good at the game Trouble and will tease you about it.

Bathroom Duty
"Hey Cy?" You call, padding into the living room to see him putting on his coat, an anxious Otto at his feet.
"Bathroom duty huh?" You grin and shake your head.
"Be careful!" He chuckles as Otto's tail wags with the connection of the leash to his collar.
Daddy was home for good, and Otto was enjoying every minute of it. You make your way into the kitchen and start brewing a pot of coffee.
This lock down was a little crazy, but you had Cyrus Lupo and a funny dog to keep you sane.

Your cheeks were red, as was your nose, and Lupo could tell you were cold. He held back a chuckle as he placed his scarf around you. You were grateful that your cheeks were already red, cause boy were you blushing.
