What inspired you to make the Tavros ask-blog?

hm! if i had to put it down to one thing then i guess the hs askblog dubs on YouTube }:)

at the time i really wasnt aware about bdhs being like a big thing or that askblogs were still happening and ive actually always wanted to have one myself so i started one for the fun of it before later finding out there was a whole community (of very awesome people i should add)

I chose tavros because back then i used to run a tavros daily art drop in a discord server so i was like hey! i could probably draw him like a bajillion more times for other people!!

he was also the character i related to the most so with the help of my bestfriend supporting the idea i made it and now here we are }:)

ALSO rose or kanaya x men/canonical men come on now people we've been over this. if you want One Specific Ship i hate for no real reason though i dont really have one OH WAIT gamtav. tell me you dont actually give a shit about tavros without saying those words in that order. he was NOT reciprocating those advances leave him alone!!

18. Do you want Homestuck to just die already?

i wish the main comic had been wrapped up in a satisfactory conclusive way and that hs2/the epilogues either never existed or were likewise satisfactory and conclusive OR AT LEAST kept canon with the snapchat upd8s. i want them to bring back paradox space (official non-canon comics) and keep making merch forever and also for everyone with headcanons i personally dislike to leave the fandom and get really into something else instead.

20. Tell us how Homestuck has affected you in real life.

oh god. genuinely, homestuck completely shaped my adolescence and pop culture diet in extremely noticeable ways. i was one of those dave transmascs

i cosplayed vriska to school. i only really hit it off with my last ex when we started talking about homestuck. on 4/13 last year i almost passed up going to the club because i hadn't drawn any fan art yet. in fact part of why my sleep schedule is so fucked up is that for years i would stay up til 1-3am drawing homestuck fan art. indeed, the fact that i run two homestuck blogs impacts my schedule and daily routine significantly. i've given graded presentations on homestuck music in university. i still say "now we're cooking with petrol!" in real life. not only did i have moirails and auspistices and blackrom crushes in real life in middle school, i also, currently, as an adult, have someone in my life i consider my moirail. over half of my prosthetics, which i use in real sexual encounters, are tentacles, and You Know Why. my OC-verse has been radically shaped by homestuck (and the energy i spend on homestuck does NOT go to my OC-verse; before getting into the comic i thought i'd be a bestselling author by now). there is not a single area of my life that has not been touched by this webcomic. i will probably be buried with a scalemate plushie.

hi welcome to dailygamtavyuri i picked this name because im like 90% sure there is/was a dailygamtav on twitter who is not me and i wanted to reduce confusion

this is just a stupid daily blog where i try and imitate the comics artstyle (with a few changes but its still Recognisable yk) to try and get me drawing regularly. most of these will be drawn well in advance to reduce stress. they will also be very inconsistent

i dont know how long this blog will go on for but right now i dont really plan on ‘ending‘ it. itll probably become monthlygamtavyuri or something eventually though LOL i cant keep it up that long

tavros will be referred to with she/her on this blog because its my blog and she is a girl i know this because i am the smartest man on earth. mod uses it/he or whatever

ok so I think I’ve got a new idea as for what a mage is. the way I’d define it is one who is haunted by their aspect.

now, obviously, it is incredibly difficult to work with just two data points, a fact that has plagued homestuck classpecting for years, but if we look at what we know about heart and doom from dirk and mituna respectively, we can draw a few conclusions.

the heart aspect, in its simplest form, deals with one’s identity. for dirk this was a tendency towards self-destruction, and for nepeta it was a feeling of inadequacy with herself, and subsequently leeching off of other characters’ personalities (or physical form later on in the comic.)

the doom aspect is difficult to work with for the same reason as mage is, but we can actually gain quite a bit of understanding through mituna. as the heir, he inherits his aspect, much as egbert inherits breath (freedom and inspiration) and equius inherits void (emptiness and irrelevance). if we view doom through that lens, mituna’s story reveals doom to be, in it’s simplest form, misery and misfortune.

looking at sollux, we see that he is plagued constantly by both misery and misfortune, and yet it never consumes him completely. any relief from these things also quickly reveals itself to be temporary. alternia sucked hard for everyone. this is irrefutable and would serve as the definition if planets could have such things. sollux specifically suffered through more physical pain on a daily basis than any other character as a result of his migraines. it’s never explicitly stated how severe they got to be, but it is entirely possible that they got to be debilitating at times.

now, while characters such as tavros and terezi display that disability is not 100% a death sentence on alternia, especially since the twelve are cosmically destined to survive at least until the game begins, but the threat would have been constantly looming over his head. but it never comes.

not until the vast glub, and at that point feferi has the opportunity to save him. he never complains about his migraines after this point, which leads me to believe that his dream selves don’t have the same brain mutation (it should be noted that psychic abilities are tied to the spirit and not the body) and offers him relief. but it does not last, as the session eventually stagnates.

this theme continues for quite some time, with sollux consistently being offered relief in one form or another, only for old arms of misery and misfortune to pull him back. he wait to die on alternia, he waits for them all to die in sgrub, he waits for the universe to collapse in paradox space. he is unable to heal and unable to die. he is perpetually tailed by his aspect like a shackle.

meulin has less evidence going for her on this front, as she is almost completely irrelevant by the time of the comic. but from what we do know, she is acutely aware of the personalities of everyone around her. she understands them to the point of being able to effectively play matchmaker. and yet she cannot have this for herself. she is noted as having terrible luck in her own relationships, and even kurloz is using her to an extent by the time we see her. she finds herself unable to find fulfillment in her aspect, and unable to escape. in this way her ability to understand others acts not as a a boon, but another layer to her aspect’s hold over her.

in closing, sollux, the mage of doom, is haunted by misery in it’s various forms throughout the comic, and meulin, the mage of heart, is haunted by her own and others’ self actualization throughout her (un)life. neither can escape, and neither can reach their full potential because of it.

1 What does their bedroom look like?

the hive Tav shares with Gamzee is really open-plan, except for the room they added for the pupas, and a little screened off area for the tub/bathroom. the main nest/pile itself is up on a 3 foot tall platform that can be heated from underneath, and is full of soft cushions, blankets, throws, and probably some stray shells and pretty rocks.  it's all very light and open (Tavros's preference), even though it's not a large hive, with a sort of bay window off of the platform that's full of Gamzee's potted plants. there's a central pillar in the room, near the corner of the platform, that helps support the roof and divide the area into sections.  around the tub (made of a giant, bathtub-sized shell) there's flooring made of pretty polished stones set in resin/epoxy of some sort to seal them. in the corner that isn't the nest platform and isn't the ablution area, there's a sad and lonely blanket left on the floor where a pile used to be, but everything that was in the pile has sort of migrated into the nest over time, and mostly it's used when the wrigglers want to sit and draw, now.  the interior wall surfaces in the room have all been liberally painted with colorful handprints and swirling designs, against the backdrop of the pale plastered barkcloth they use for the walls. all of the floors except for the sealed pebbles around the tub are handmade terracotta tiles, so somewhat inexpertly made and irregular.

6 Eating habits and sample daily menu

he does a lot of the cooking, so when he eats it tends to be hot and fully prepared.  even back on Alternia, he wasn't a 'cereal' or box-meal kind of guy.  he might start the day with some fried tubers and grilled meat or smoked fish, then make chili or stew for a hearty lunch.  dinner is more likely to be relatively light--maybe some flatbread and grilled meat--but if it's a special event he'll go all out and pit-roast 3 kinds of meat and make his version of 'cocoa' for a beverage.  in his timeline, trolls metabolize certain kinds of processed sugars the way humans metabolize alcohol, so he's generally cautious about eating very sweet foods, but might indulge now and then if he feels safe enough... he very much doesn't like to feel at all mentally impaired around people he doesn't trust quite well.

32 Thoughts on material possessions in general?

pretty unimportant.  he grew up dirt poor, and he's lost Literally Everything multiple times, between destruction of his home planet, his hive, leaving the meteor, and just shedding things that didn't matter.  he values connections and relationships and meaningful time a lot more than he'll ever value stuff, so there are very few mementos he keeps.  he appreciates aesthetic comforts but doing without them isn't much skin off his nose.
