For those of you who have never walked in a bamboo forest, it’s an otherworldly experience. The trees constantly sway and move as in any other forest but with larger and more exaggerated movements. You stand at the base of the bamboo and look up - way up and watch it sway in the slightest breeze. There are few branches on the bamboo so the view is unobscured and so visually vertical it’s uncanny! Then there is the sound. The creaks and groans here are accompanied by thinks and thwack was the bamboo bends and hit each other. The leaves concentrated at the top filter the light to throw dappled shadows on the trunks.
