"I’m so invested in whatever I’m reading at that time. There’s no room for anything else. I think that applies to filming because I don’t have a process. I had to take accent classes for Young Woman and the Sea, and when I started shooting Magpie, I asked myself - how can I act in English? I don’t use certain smells. I don’t play any songs. I’m just all engrossed in the story. Probably, in ways I don’t realise until after the fact. Once I’m there, I’m doing the thing. I’m just fucking there."
