I have four DC oc's so far! And I wanted to ask if anybody would enjoy some drabbles or headcanons about them! I know, oc's aren't really- written for? But I would love for anyone to get to know my four little bastards! I'll put their names below so you can choose and see which intrigues you the most!!
-Scarlett "Scythe" Cason -Chester "The Laughing Stock" Whitlock -Justin "Loyal Lies" Whitlock -Jessica "Bloody Wings" Hart
If you do want me to write for them, please don't hesitate to send in an ask!!

Chapter 12
My lips trembled with emotion, no one has ever spoken to me this way, but then again no one ever considered asking me anything: even my parents considered themselves a priority over me. I was just a money-making tool for them. Even with the Starbreaker deal. Though he was cruel and vicious, Damian was kind enough to show me what my life actually was: anything but mine. And it never was. The choice was never mine.
“Well?” He purred, raising an eyebrow: “What’s it gonna be, Princess?” he said the last word in a particularly mocking tone.
I leaned in and kissed him, my eyes closed and my knees weak from fright. At the same time I felt a freedom I’ve never felt before: I couldn’t deny my attraction to Damian any longer, even if this got me humiliated and kicked out of Hades I needed to release my emotions: I needed to acknowledge there was always something captivating about him that I kept pushing away because of Julian and my parents.
Damian broke away by taking a step back, and when I opened my eyes I saw a face I would never imagine Damian making - his eyes were wide, but his irises shrunk from disbelief and his lips parted in shock. I broke into a silent sob: I fucked up. I fucked up so much. My knees gave way, and I slowly sunk to the floor.
“Impossible…” he uttered: “you… you called me cruel, you… hate me?” his voice was shaking, there was no confidence or malice from earlier left in his words.
“I don’t hate you” I sobbed: “I was in denial of how attractive I found you.” The truth just spilled out of me, like the cursed box after Pandora opened it.
“But…” his voice and stature recovered a little: “you cried after I defeated Julian?”
I looked up at him without saying anything, my heart sunk in my chest. He just stood there, looking absolutely confused, frozen like a statue. I decided to get up and leave, to pack my things and leave before things got any more embarrasing, any more unbearable. Slowly lifting myself up from the ground, I sighed and wiped the tears away from my eyes:
“I’m sorry. I will leave now.”
Damian marched over, the gleam back in his eyes: “No you won’t, kiss me again.”
I managed to let out a gasp before embracing him, our lips reuniting again. I could tell he was inexperienced, but that made it even sweeter. Slowly, step by step, I pushed myself into him, making him in turn step back towards the bed until he tripped backwards and flopped onto the crisp white sheets. I climbed on top of him, feeling the heat picking up from underneath my jeans. I kissed his neck all over even though his choker was in the way, and slowly lowered my hips down onto his. His breathing picked up as my hands ran through his soft hair; I couldn’t get enough, I wanted to immerse myself into him, he was irresistable. I felt a bulge underneath my jeans, and just when I was going to kiss him again I realised his hands were not caressing me anywhere. I opened my eyes, and saw his curious but frightened expression:
“I want you...” I panted: “So bad.”
He lifted himself onto his elbows: “I… I’ve never been with a girl before.” He utttered this so quietly, I could never have even imagined I’d hear him this embarrassed. I pushed him to lay down again, and then removed my top: “If you want me to, I’ll guide you.”
He nodded slowly, and I got up to unzip my jeans, sliding them down slowly to get his reaction to my black lace thong. His eyes were full of lust, but I could tell he was still hesitant. I helped him unzip his uniform, giving him kisses all along his neck and shoulders. He was very defined, but thin, his skin pale as if it never saw the sun. After undoing my bra, I guided him on top of me, letting my hands roam across his back until I felt some strange shapes on the centre of his back, on his spine.
“Arrangement” he whispered into my ear with a low, barely audible groan because he accidentally grinded against me while I slid my thong off.
“Are you ready?” I whispered back. As a reply, he kissed me with force, pushing my head into the pillow. I brushed my inner thighs against his sides as I slid my feet up to his black boxers, slowly sliding them off and grabbing his warm throbbing cock with my hand and sliding it down my wet, tender pussy until it reached the epicentre of my heat.
“Enter.” I whispered into his ear, and he obeyed; immediately sliding himself into me, cautiously at first, but groaning with pleasure after passing the enterance. I gasped and whimpered at the sensations: “oh yes… yes Damian.”
He was slow and cautious, moving in and out at different paces while looking at me for approval: “Damian… more” I panted before he picked up the pace. I moaned like a little slut who got exactly what she craved, resting my feet on the back of his calves. I felt so soft and sensitive in his hands, and so greedy:
“Don’t stop… please don’t stop” I moaned, pushing my hips up against him to get more friction while he was thrusting mercilessly into me until he suddenly stopped, looking at me mischeviously:
“Beg for it.” He said in his famous condescending tone, with a smirk.
“Please!” in my heat I wanted to waste no time, grinding myself against him impatiently.
“Please… what?” He purred into my ear and pushed my hips into the mattress with his so I couldn’t move them anymore.
After a groan from his force, I realised he wanted me to stroke his need for dominance: “Please…fuck me…”
He softly put his hand around the back of my neck, just holding me with no pressure added, and picked up the pace while looking me in the eyes. I tried my best to keep the contact, but my eyes slowly rotated back into my head out of the pleasure that was taking over me. I released a long sigh as I was approaching my climax, but I opened my eyes and gasped when he finished suddenly. He was panting, and remained inside as his cock pumped his warm seed into me, sweat dripping down his fringe. I also breathed heavily, and slid my hand down between us to finish myself off. He watched me carefully, with focus and curiosity. I enjoyed his gaze, and kept it while I was stroking my clitoris with his cock still inside, slowly arching my back in pleasure until my walls came together in climax, announced by another long sigh.
When I opened my eyes again, I saw him grinning back at me as if he was both mesmerised by what had just happened, and incredibly satisfied with himself. With my walls still pulsing in pleasure, I pulled him into another kiss.

Chapter 23
Damian seemed have to dissapeared into thin air. At first I was boiling in anger and worry because of where he could’ve gone in the few minutes that separated his ship docking and me leaving the helicopter. He could have went looking for me, but then where did he go and why was he alone? The very next day, my parents pressured me to buy a returning ticket because after seeing what happened they wanted me home safe and sound, but I managed to persuade them to get a date that was two weeks away to at least try and find out where he was. I was in contact with Zeo and Jack, none of them had seen him leave with anyone and had no idea how to contact him, or where to even look for him.
Two days after, Dr. Ziggurat had been presumed deceased by the media after his belongings had been found, but his body was missing. It was a shocking conclusion to reach without a body, but according to the investigation his access card had been used at three enterances since he was seen by a witness, the last one being Zeo who met him at a staircase at Hades Inc. Through these enterances he would only gain access to a small terrace with no other door or window leading anywhere, so the main assumption of the police was that he threw himself overboard: either while Hades City was still airborne or he jumped into the ocean after and drowned, the presumed motive being estimated as wanting to escape punishment and shame from his failed project. In a way, this was very believable: I completely agree Ziggurat would rather commit suicide than face the consequences of his actions, but would he really abandon his son like that?
Jack and Zeo ended up in the ER on the third day suffering from side effects of Arrangement abstinence, caused by the meltdown of Hades Inc.’s infrastructure as well as the Arrangement bed someohow being broken… I didn’t understand the details, but they also didn’t matter. Jack was having a severe reaction to the abstinence, unable to ingest or digest anything, even water, switching between a coma-like state and a delirium, even allegedlly bleeding from his body cavities. Because Zeo had been on the Arrangement for a shorter time, both his reaction and symptoms were gone within a couple of days thanks to the medical attention he recieved, and he was back to living a normal life with Masamune and Toby, cutting all ties with Hades Inc. after collecting his final paycheck. On the fifth day since Hades City crashed into the ocean, Damian was filed as a missing person by both the US police force and Interpol, as no evidence about his whereabouts came forward and he didn’t contact or come to collect his inheritance from Ziggurat’s will.
These were the days of absolute mental torture for me; every profile, thread and comment on the internet had a different theory about what happened to him. Some assumed he ran away on his own, others that he was kidnapped or even murdered, yet no one came forward to ask for ransom. When I visited Zeo in the gym in the city he used to train at, he said he thinks Damian had a plan B evacuation plan that separated him from others for safety reasons, but that does not explain why he didn’t respond to his father’s will, especially because he was the only beneficiary. The media and newspapers weren’t any better: as soon as an anonymous source ratted out Ziggurat and he were related, the onslaught of accusations, assumptions and allegations began. Hades Inc. medical experts gave several statements agreeing that Damian’s very life may be in danger if he didn’t get in contact with a medical facility or Hades Inc., as they had collected data on Arrangement abstinence on individuals that had used the system for periods of up to a couple of years, uncomparable to a decade. Because of the countless sleepless nights searching for answers, my hotel room was full of newspapers, notes scattered among any paper I could find, takeout packages and coffee-stained cups, but with every passing day the story grew more complicated, and my time was running out.
In desperation, I looked up dr. Carlisle’s email and asked him to meet me before I had to leave. On my way to the café he invited me to, I went over everything I’d read and heard. Even though it was a beautiful sunny day, I hadn’t felt any warmth in my body for days:
“I am just as concerned as you, Camila.” He devoted his assuring gaze my way: “I believe he’s definitely - hopefully - still alive, but I doubt he would run away by himself. He is too rational for that, and he is aware of the severity of abstinence.”
“Do you think he might have been kidnapped?” I warmed my hands on my warm cup of coffee
“I don’t believe so. The kidnappers would’ve asked for ransom by now, it’s been a week and a half since he was last seen on the boat. Besides, as soon as his side effects would start showing up he would definitely not be an easy hostage.”
A new theory popped into my head: “But what if they didn’t consider that? What if they didn’t know, just like I didn’t know, that the Arrangement abstinence had side effects and they…” I paused because of an emotional knot in my throat: “…got rid of him as soon as he became difficult?”
Carlisle looked at me for a moment, his eyes were warm but perturbed: “Camila, you haven’t been getting much sleep have you?”
I sighed, closing my eyes: “I can’t”
He paused again before gently putting his hand on the table: “As his doctor, I am not allowed to disclose details about him as a patient. I personally wouldn’t completely rule out the possibility that he ran away as a result of an irrational, emotional and traumatic episode. But knowing dr. Ziggurat, there might have been a secret evacuation and isolation plan for him none of us were aware of; perhaps he was taken in the crowd before you reached him.” He took a sip of his coffee: “He had a difficult and inescapable childhood, perhaps he wanted to run away from it all.”
“Do you think he might have gone out to search for his mother?” I gasped, surprised that I didn’t think of this earlier.
“Unlikely.” dr. Carlisle fixed his glasses: “Ziggurat’s parenting methods were questionable from my professional perspective, but one of the worst things he did was convince Damian his mother abandoned him as a baby.”
“But… why?”
“He probably wanted to achieve a certainty that he would never seek her, because then he would find out what his father’s real nature was.” I raised an eyebrow, so he continued with a big sigh: “His mother died of cancer years ago. Ziggurat took newborn Damian away from her as soon as she was diagnosed and took legal action so that she would never see him again until she died.”
My mouth was agape from shock, how could a human being be so cruel: “Didn’t he love her? How could he do such a thing?”
“I really couldn’t say” he sighed. There was a long pause, unresolved mixed emotions intertwined with worry floating between us: “I am hopeful that if he is alive and able he will turn up. After all, the HD in Hades Inc. logo stands for both Hades and for Hart, Damian.”

Chapter 3
The battle took off fast, minutes were passing incredibly quickly as I noticed I was feeling less confident than before about who was going to win this match. I could tell Klaus was growing unsure of his win just the same. Gingka’s friends were also evidently taken aback, as the brown haired girl kept pulling out analysis sheets on Jack’s Bey, Evil Befall, in order to understand where these unpredictably strong attacks kept coming from. Unsure of whether it’s my own subjectivity because I know Klaus personally, or because Jack doesn’t seem like someone stronger than him, I kept my hopes up for this battle to end in Excalibur’s favour. But then my breath got caught in my throat as Capricorn took a huge blow from Befall, and Klaus was sunk to his knees:
“Is the end of the match already?!” the annoying presenter exclaimed, perhaps from surprise or to tease, as the black haired boy from Gingka’s company also got up: “Klaus isn’t going to lose that easily!”
“C’mon get up Klaus” Julian got up from his seat, immediately commanding the attention of the stadium: “This is not the full extent of your power! Victory lies at the limit’s edge!” I smiled, this is Julian’s favourite motivational quote. He used to repeat it at every hardship he or I ever faced.
“I will not allow us to be defeated a second time, you hear me?”
This final, warning sentence, seemed to trigger Klaus’ inner warrior, as he immediately got up and amassed a powerful red energy field around him: this was the strength of countless days and nights, denial of rest and leisure: this was the strenght of choice to fight even though odds were against you.
“Go Klaus! Victor Excalibur! Victor Excalibur!” I yelled at the top of my voice among the cheering crowd. Victor Excalibur was the latin phrase Excalibur’s European fans cheered them on with, and I knew if Klaus could hear it even a little bit it would remind him of the countless people cheering on for him from home.
Klaus called his special move, and Jack reciprocated with his. The stadium grew tense as strong gusts of wind picked up from both Beys and collided into a strong explosion that blew people’s hats away, and sent posters and smaller items flying. As the dust settled and the view cleared up, I saw Klaus standing tall in the distance:
“They won!” I uttered as I smiled to myself, but the crowd remained quiet until the presenter made an official announcement. “Klaus won it!” Ginka also exclaimed, accompanied by his black-haired friend. But something didn’t seem right. Something wasn’t right.
Then I saw it: Capricorn was not moving.
It was standing still as Klaus himself was paralysed, and unresponsive.
“The winner is Jack!” the presenter announced, concluding this match for history to remember, with Jack’s laugh of ridicule echoing as Klaus was taken away on the stretcher of the paramedics.
I could not believe my own eyes, I could not believe I was hearing the loud cheers of a crowd that just saw what happened. Beside myself, I considered calling Julian, but I quickly remembered their phones were not on their person during the match.
After this horrific scene, I saw Excalibur was planning their next move, and I was sure Julian was going to go in to avenge Klaus’ honour against the Americans.
“Are you ready? Because the second match is about to begin!” The presenter announced: “For the second battle, the competitors are: with his team Starbreaker up one, we have the amazing Damian! Facing him with no more second chances and bettin’ it all on this one battle, from Excalibur: Julian Konzern takes the stage!” I clapped as hard as I could, until my hands became pink, as Julian and his opponent approached the stage.
“Go Juliaaan!” I heard Gingka and his friends cheer. They must either really dislike the Americans, or love Excalibur, I thought to myself, until Gingka said:
“So that’s Damian.”
“So he’s the goon who ambushed Tsubasa and Yu, huh?” The black-haired boy said, with a strong hint of anger lingering between his words.
And then came the moment of brief silence, as the Bladers faced each other across the dome battlefield. The American was saying something to Julian, but it was not loud enough for the audience to pick up.
“Are you talking to me, sonny?!” Julian exclaimed with outright offence in his voice.
“Yeah, Gan-Gan Galaxy kicked it’s Bey butt, didn’t they?” I could not even believe this guy said something like this! Does he know who he’s talking to?
The conversation now became louder, so the audience followed every word. The American purred in a teasing, vicious way. His voice was clear, with a sort of calculated, malicious tone to it, ridiculing and condescending. He suggested a best out of three match, which Julian accepted, although he was undeniably surprised by the proposal considering only one win is enough for Starbreaker to go into the finals. Honestly, I admire the balls that guy has to say what he said against Julian Konzern. People don’t dare gossip about him in cafés where we come from. But regardless, his disrespectful tone visibly triggered Julian, who was used to nothing but respect.
When Destroyer hit the ground, it was faster than I’d ever seen it before. Strong, quick moves and an energy unmatched by Julian’s previous launches - this guy doesn’t stand a fucking chance. The battle commenced dramatically, with hits from both sides coming one after the other. My breath was caught in my lungs, every time Destroyer got hit I came closer and closer to the edge of my seat. But all of my muscles relaxed when Julian activated The Eyes of Medusa: this fight will soon be over.
“So this is The Eyes of Medusa? It’s not a big deal is it?” Damian gleamed, while I tried to process what the fuck have I just heard? Just as I was going to stand up cheer for Julian, Damian’s gold Bey moved.
It fucking moved? Against The Eyes of Medusa?! Julian then activated his special move, he wanted to finish this guy off quickly and painfully, but to no avail. Damian ended the battle with a move called Hades Drive.
“Unbelievable” I sighed, I just could not wrap my head around what was going on today. Like it was all a bad dream, a weird dream, and I was really hoping to wake up from it.
“What is going on!” Gingka commented, and looked over his shoulder at me: “are you seeing this?”
“I can’t believe it either, Gingka…” I shook my head.
“Wait, is your name Camila by any chance?” He turned around: “and are you, like, Italian or something?”
“Yes I’m mixed” I smiled at him: “so you do remember me!”
“I remembered because you pronounce my name with a slight accent over it! It just came back to me!” He smiled genuinely, a generous and sweet grin.
“I’ll take that as a compliment then!” I smiled back at him as the bladers got back to their places for the final match.

Chapter 20
After our return from the realm of desolation, I cleaned myself up while Damian changed into some more comfortable clothes. I checked my smart watch and saw the itinerary for tomorrow was, well, blank. This was confusing me because I knew the awards ceremony was tomorrow around noon, and Ziggurat also mentioned some demonstrations. Then again, maybe I was just overthinking it and I simply wasn’t invited to either activity and had the day to myself. I crawled back into bed, craving some affection from Damian and cuddling up to him. Even though he got the hang of sex quite fast, I could tell physical closeness was absent in his upbringing because of the way he handled cuddling.
“Please come visit me” I kissed his cheek: “I would love to show you my world, and I’m sure Ziggurat wouldn’t object”
He caressed my hair, giving me a gentle smile: “I would be happy to” I don’t know how to explain this, nor do I have any specific observations and examples, but since getting to know Damian more and speaking to dr. Carlisle it seemed that in rare moments of the day Damian’s softer, calmer side came out. I also think sex helps him relieve the bottled up stress and rigidity he is so used to, especially as I surrender to him to feed his need of superiority and dominance. Nonetheless, after seeing his reaction to my confession I have come to the realisation that Ziggurat probably did not give him any affection, even in the form of a fond nickname because he just calls him by his name, and probably never told him that he loved him.
“Damian… I told you I loved you, and I mean it.” I looked into his eyes, propping myself up onto my elbow: “I want us to be together.”
He remained silent for a long time, my assumption is because he did not know how to handle someone being loving to him: “And your parents?”
“Honestly, if you’re not broke they’ll like you.” I sighed, there was probably no point in sugar-coating it anyway.
“If the Konzern’s were good enough, then I believe we’ll get along just fine” he scoffed jokingly, putting an mysterious emphasis on the last two words. I didn’t know how much Damian was worth or how much he brought in, but I am pretty convinced Ziggurat was rich enough for my parents to seize any objections. My mind took off into fantasies about us walking along the cozy streets of my hometown, then going to the French Riviera, maybe renting a boat, dinners… I wanted all of it. I wanted him to see the colours the world has to show, and not just artificial lights and laboratories in the middle of a wasteland that neighbours another vast concrete jungle. With these fantasies and the smell of his skin, I drifted off to sleep.
I woke up because Damian got out of bed around 5AM, probably for his Arrangement session. I stole a few fleeting kisses from him as he was putting on his uniform: “You guys are going to the ceremony?”
“Yeah” he put on his choker and gloves: “But I need to do a round of arrangement first.” We left together, him to the Arrangement quarters and I to my room to get ready. Hours rolled by, I was mostly resting before I got ready and headed to the cafeteria to have breakfast. Unsurprisingly, the students were giving me glances and whispering among each other, again.
Once I had finished my meal, I decided I would go up to the helicopter and wait for Starbreaker to finish their Arrangements so I could say bye to Damian before they left. When I reached my desired floor, I sat down on the sofa in the waiting room that overlooked the heliport, the same one where Carlisle and I had a conversation yesterday. It was nearing 11AM, and I knew the boys should be done soon. My heart started racing as I saw the numbers on the elevator moving towards the one I was on, and I stood in front of the elevator to surprise them. After all, it is a shitty feeling going to someone else’s victory celebration after such a hard battle. The elevator announced its arrival with a silent ‘bing’ sound, and the door slid open:
My heart dropped: “Julian?!”
“Camila?!?”
“What are you doing here?!?” I gasped, out of anyone I could possibly imagine being at Hades Inc. Julian was the absolutely last person on the list. Hell, if Gingka was here I would be less surprised.
“I should be asking you the same question” he stepped out of the elevator, surrounded with a hateful energy I have never seen him with, his fists clenched: “So it’s all true.”
For the first time in my entire life, I stepped back from Julian out of fear: “What is true? Julian why are you here?”
“Do you know what they call you, Camila? What people are saying about you?”
There was a silence, I didn’t say anything. I feared the unrecognisable emotions he was clearly consumed in, in addition to probably still being burdened by the loss he suffered in front of the global audience.
“No” I whispered. I didn’t want to make him any angrier by not answering him, knowing it was a pet peeve of his.
“ ‘The whore of Starbreaker’, Camila. They call you a golddiger. You’re an absolute disgrace to yourself, your family and everyone that extends to you!”
“Julian, che cazzo?!” I gasped again, this time for lack of air: “We broke up months before this tournament so you can focus on Excalibur - how am I a disgrace for moving on when you ignored me and didn’t want me back? Huh? How am I to blame when you know my parents need the money?”
“Money. It’s always about money.” Julian said, disgusted: “Of course you would join these hyenas if they paid you.”
“Okay then, what are you doing here?”
He paused this time around, battling the boiling embarrassement within himself: “The Konzern enterprise shares have been bought off by Hades Inc.”
My pulse stopped, remembering how huge and important their generational family businesses were; remembering his darling parents, our countless memories - this was his whole life, this was his pride, his plan for the future: “Julian…”
He barely uttered in a low voice, full of bitterness: “My name is now worthless, but I chose to keep our honor by joining dr. Ziggurat.”
Somewhere in the middle of his sentence, two elevators opened up to our left, with Starbreaker in one, and a totally different team that seemed somewhat familiar in the other.
“Good for you” an all-familiar snide comment echoed as Damian stepped out of the elevator: “ ‘Cause you might also snag an Arrangement and finally put up a fight.”
Julian lowered his head out of anger and humiliation, while the girl from the other team - who I now recognised as the Garcias - whistled: “Now that was a low blow!”
“Don’t disrespect me!” Julian growled at the Garcias, as Damian came closer to us, positioning himself closer to me.
“What’s wrong, Julian?” Damian mocked him: “You look upset… again.”
Julian looked at him with boiling, bitter anger that could probably burn a hole in the wall if he pointed his gaze into it, but remained silent. As he now works for dr. Ziggurat, I assume he is powerless agaist Starbreaker members, let alone Damian.
“Besides” Damian grinned at Julian sadistically: “I told you I’d ‘take all of it away from you: your pride, confidence’...”
Julian looked revolted, pale, ill and traumatised, but that didn’t stop Damian from serving the final stab into his heart - wrapping his hand around my waist, adding: “ …‘everything sweet’ ”, quoting himself from his match with Julian.
After a short silent pause - which wasn’t even honoured by complete silence because the girl and younger boy from the Garcias were making mocking ‘oooh’ and ‘burn’ nosises after what Damian said - Ziggurat arrived with two pilots:
“Time to go, everybody” he passed through the Garcia members and halted his stride to the helicopter to address Damian, Julian and myself: “We have a party to crash, we cannot possibly be late.”
Julian walked away towards the helicopter without even looking at me once, followed by Jack and the tallest Garcia boy. Damian grinned at me: “Don’t worry about him. His head feels empty without its crown.”
I looked at him, unsure if I should even be addressing the layers of things that had just happened or just wish him a safe flight and talk about this with him later: “yeah…”
He grabbed the back of my neck and pulled me into a kiss, thematically soundtracked again with noises provided by younger members of the Garcia family. When he pulled away, he grinned at me again - a victor’s smile: “Wish me luck, heads are gonna roll today… hopefully.”
“Good luck, Damian.” I said, before adding a bit more quietly: “I love you.”
“You too” he smirked at me, pulling away and walking into the helicopter which was apparently only waiting for him, his pristine white cape carried by the wind. The doors closed quickly, and the aircraft took off within the next minute.
There was a lot left for me to digest: for starters, Julian’s absolute disgust and hatred towards me was a particularly heartbreaking thing to see, regardless of the nature of our relationship. We are, or used to be, best friends as well as long term boyfriend and girlfriend. He was the only person in this world I knew as well as I knew myself. Then, the horrible thing that happened to him and his family; I don’t know if the shares value had dropped because of some external reasons so Hades bought up the majority, or if they just had an agenda of their own to take Julian and his family down so they bought them regardless? But why would they do that? They already had all the data from him and defeated him?
“But what if they wanted him?” I uttered to myself, waiting for the elevator. What if they wanted a left-rotating Bey in their arsenal, since Ryuga apparently despises them? For a guy like Ziggurat that’s a good enough reason to wreck someone’s entire family and heirloom. In the same line of thought, Damian said last night something about having more money than Julian, could he have possibly been aware of all of this, or even plotted it with Ziggurat, without telling me? It was hard to say if what he said he meant generally or specifically after this event, because both Ziggurat and Hades Inc. have a high revenue, therefore Starbreaker can’t be doing too bad themselves.
Related to Damian, I was having very polar feelings about how he treated Julian. On one hand, it’s Damian and his ever-present condescending, cocky personality, but on the other hand it was a conversation I deeply regretted being a part of even as a subject of conversation, let alone witnessing. What he did was as humiliating to Julian as if Julian knelt down and Damian pissed all over him, but then again Julian attacked me without a reason and called me a disgrace. My mind was racing, I thought about the ‘everything sweet’ quote Damian said: what if there was an agenda I was not aware of when he said it in the match itself? Had this been the plan all along? It’s actually not impossible, because they had to print, sign and deliver that Hades Inc. letter to my room at least an hour before the matches ended in order for it to get to the hotel in time, but in Beyblade you can never be sure how long the match is going to last. Furthermore, Carlisle himself had said he and Ziggurat had different reasons for me being invited to Hades… Or maybe Damian said it for a different reason and quoted himself just to torture Julian? My head began to hurt from the storm of flashbacks, ideas and theories running though my mind. I had to calm down, there was no way this overthinking will be helpful to me before they return.
I sat down in the common room, and turned on the huge flat screen TV that lifted itself from the floor to watch the WBBA ceremony. A comforting thought crept in: Damian had told me he loved me for the first time today. And after their obligations for the tournament end today, we could plan the rest of our time together. I was open to staying here with him, but I would also like my fantasies of him coming to Europe realised. My train of thought was broken by the theme song and opening sequence of the ceremony.

Chapter 19
I spent some time in my room, before making my way to Damian’s room. I took my toiletry bag, and my favourite champagne colour silk night gown I had bought some years ago. This was probably one of my favourite items in my possession because it made me feel so comfortable, confident and sexy. Carlisle opened the door to Damian’s room and let me in, but Ziggurat was already there and talking to Damian, who was apparently already awake:
“I am very pleased with your results today, Damian. We’ve gathered more than enough data on Gingka and Ryuga from the Championship. You did as you were told.”
“I am glad” Damian replied flatly
Ziggurat adjusted his glasses, glancing at me. Then, he continued: “Furthermore… I will prepare a new Arrangement for you tomorrow morning based on Gingka’s data. With your strenghts combined, Kerbecs will be unmatched.”
Damian grinned from the bed: Thank you, doctor.”
“Rest now, you have to be ready for tomorrow’s demonstration.” He then turned to me on his way to the elevator: “Camila?”
“I came to see how Damian is doing” I blurted out, completely unsure of why I even had the need to explain myself to him.
“Good” he grinned and then glanced at Carlisle, who was standing next to the elevator door: “I will have my assistants brief you on tomorrow’s schedule. In the meantime make sure Damian gets his rest.” He curled up a single corner of his lip, and then left along with dr. Carlisle. I walked up to Damian, who was sitting up in his bed. After an hour or so, when the night has completely settled in, Damian seemed completely recovered. I had also taken a shower in the meantime and changed into my nightgown. A calm feeling swept over us as we just talked about random things. I told him about where I’m from, showing him pictures of my family and my garden:
“You can visit us sometime” I looked at him while he was watching a video of our family garden on my phone.
“Meeting the parents, hm?” he scoffed jokingly, but then slowly dropped his smile; something bothered him.
“I mean, you don’t have to” I tried to salvage the situation, understanding he may be upset because we were on the topic of family again, and according to Zeo, he was alone.
He stayed in the same position, his eyes staring at something behind me; calculating, debating on something. Then he stood up and opened a drawer next to his bed with his fingerprint. Inside, I could see a lot of Hades Inc. folders, but before I could see anything else he took out a small piece of paper and closed the drawer promptly. He handed me the paper, it was a photograph of a younger dr. Ziggurat, who looked almost identical as he does now but with a few silver strands less, and a small boy sitting on his lap:
“Dr. Ziggurat is my father. I was raised here.”
This simple, nine word sentence hit me like a slap across my face. If I had anything heavier than a piece of paper in my hands, I would drop it from the cold, resetting shock of what he just said: “But… you call him ‘doctor’? You call him by his last name?” I was so flabbergasted I was tripping over my own words instead of forming a single coherent sentence: “And your surnames? They’re different?”
“Hart was my mother’s surname” he remained standing, taking off his gloves: “But she is irrelevant to me because I’ve never known her. And Ziggurat wanted me to call him like everyone else in Hades does, to keep our relation hidden.”
I didn’t know where my questions began, and where they ended: “But…why?”
“Professionalism for both of us, mostly” he darted me a look: “and to avoid the whole ‘favouritism’ thing, being Captain of Starbreaker and all.”
“Damian…” I was feeling so overwhelmed, in my mind I could not bridge or connect that horrible man and him, let alone this derranged story I was hearing. And yet, with my eyes darting between their faces in the photograph and from memory, more similarities surfaced.
“Does anyone know?” I asked, because Zeo surely didn’t lie to me.
“Only dr. Carlisle, my personal physician and you.” He had a specific kind of smirk on his face, with a relaxed slant to his lip, like a small upward curve at the ends. I was silent, I did not know what to say. I looked at the picture again, it was dated to 10 years ago. What dr. Carlisle told me earlier started to make chilling sense, as the small boy in the picture looked similar, but quite different to the Damian I know: his eyes were cheerful, his hair was dark blue, he just seemed… softer.
“You’ve never left Hades City?” I looked at him again, trying to put the pieces of the puzzle together.
“Well, when I was born Hades City wasn’t finished yet. I moved here when I was about three.” He spoke so bluntly, as if all of this was the most regular, “average Joe” information: “By that time Ziggurat had started developing the Arrangement System, and working with Bey-source energy, and he needed a facility for that, which became Hades Inc. Then after the Arrangement was completed he also made an Academy.” He looked me in the eyes from where he was standing, completely serious: “That’s why I said I took the Arrangement, but never attended the Academy.”
With the drip of every new information I felt like I was spiraling into new sets of questions: “You were the first person to use the Arrangement?”
His smirk was restored: “My DNA supplies the very foundation of the System. I was the one who the Arrangement was tailored to: the Chosen One.”
For a long time there was a silence. I could not believe or recover from the fact Damian lived - lives - a life that was this empty. He was brainwashed into thinking he was chosen for something big, when that big thing was his father’s ambition. But the thing that shook me the most was that a father could make his son undergo a dangerous treatment as not only a test subject, but a first test subject before anyone else. Carlisle’s words chimed into my mind; when he told me Ziggurat disregarded findings of mental health damage of the Arrangement, knowing full well he was talking about his own son among other children… I felt sick.
Damian noticed there was a shift within me. He came closer and lifted my chin up with his hand: “I want to show you my world.” I nodded my head although I was not sure what he meant, but I was ready to stop thinking about this at least for now. He took his launcher and Kerbecs, and aimed at the centre of his room:
“Damian what are you doing?!” I gasped as he launched. I closed my eyes expecting an explosion, collision, at least some kind of demolition; but he had launched Kerbecs softly and it was spinning peacefully in the middle of the room. He put out his hand towards where I was laying on the bed, as if he was inviting me a to a dance. I smiled at the gesture, and put my hand in his:
“Open now, Hades Gate” Damian said calmly, smirking in my direction as a smaller version of that huge black gate appeared in front of us, floating right above Kerbecs and reaching the ceiling. I slid off the bed, my silk nightgown falling gently over my feet and onto my calves. The gate slowly opened, with an ancient squeak. I felt the cold spreading from within instantly. Damian guided me inside, holding my hand gently the entire time as we stepped over the threshold and into a different atmosphere.
It was very dark inside: the skies were full of angry, dark purple clouds that growled in distant thunders every once in a while, and the land was a desolate place. There was only the flat, dry ground, and rocks in the area, with some holes here and there at the bottom of which I could see fire. I looked at Damian, he was smiling: “This is Hades, Persephone”
I smiled at him because he remembered the myth. I felt the cold get hold of my body through my thin nightgown. If I had known better, I would’ve worn something on top: “Do you come here often?”
“I suppose” he shrugged his shoulders from under his cloak: “When I need some time to myself.”
Cerberous then appeared, as grand as a building, walking towards us out of thin air. Now that was truly terrifying: his eyes were glowing red, and real fire burned inside it’s three mouths. The golden chains dragged along from behind it, making for a very ominous chime.
“Camila, this is Hades Kerbecs.”
I bowed my head as a sign of respect, Kerbecs making a low pitch growling sound. Then I got an idea: “Vincancai, vincanti, brutatis.”
Kerbecs bowed it’s three heads to me, before turning around to Damian who petted one of his heads: “What was that?”
“It’s written on the back of Hades gate. I thought he might appreaciate it.”
Damian was impressed, I could tell from his face. He stopped petting Kerbecs, and we started walking in another direction. He told me about the first time he entered himself, how he speaks to Kerbecs, and answered some of my questions. Then, we reached a part that had several large stones in random positions. I walked out in front of him, more towards the rocks: “And what about if we have a picnic here one day?” I twirled in the empty space before stopping myself with my hand against the nearest rock: “We could bring a blanket and spend some time here together, just the two of us.” I looked at Damian and saw he was not paying attention to what I was saying at all: his face had an expression I had not seen yet, one that looks as if an idea appeared in his mind and he was thinking about it - toying with it.
“Damian?” I asked, confused with what was happening. He slowly stepped towards me: “I am sorry, Camila…” he said in a low, almost threatening voice, slowly cornering me against the stone I was standing next to.
“About what?” I asked, worried about what was about to happen. He snapped his fingers and two long chains whipped out of nowhere and wrapped tight around my ankles, slowly lifting them off the ground in different directions, spreading my legs. I had to push my back and upper arms against the rock just to not flip upside-down. I gasped as he came really close, pushing me further against the rock, his uniform touching my pussy through the thin slip of material that was my only protection. He kissed me, pushing my head against the rock as well as he aggressively pulled up my skirt and removed my panties:
“Damian” I gasped but he didn’t stop, he looked at me as if he was going to wreck my world and enjoy every second of it, a very satisfied grin spreading across his face as he took out his cock and chuckled at my face before he pushed it into me. I gasped, my pussy was feeling very sensitive against the cold air. He grunted as he kept thrusting and thrusting into me, his cock harder than it ever was and my pussy so sore and sensitive I felt every thrust twice as strong. I moaned and gasped like a whore, like an absolute slut being fucked in an alleyway somewhere. He put one hand against the rock behind me, and held my knee over his shoulder with the other to secure me in place, my other leg was being held in position only by the rattling gold chain, and my whimpers and his groans echoed through the endless emptiness. As his thrusts became stronger, I was actually bouncing against the wall, making one of my straps slide down my shoulder and uncovering my tender, hard nipple. I felt absolutely disgustingly amazing being fucked like this, against a rock, literally taken like prey.
“Da…mi..an” I moaned with the thrusts separating the syllables for me, my breasts bouncing in rhythm. Damian groaned as he pushed stronger: “Admit it.”
I whimpered, saliva running down the corner of my mouth: “admit.. what?”
“You know.” He looked at me with a red glow in his eyes, expecting me to comply to his wishes:
“I… am…” I moaned, barely keeping track of what I was going to say and keeping the breath of air to say it: “yours… I love you, Damian.”
Even though he seemed to be surprised at what he’d just heard, he quickly regained his composure and chuckled at me while my eyes rolled to the back of my head from being fucked so good. After a couple of strong thrusts, his cock pumped out a huge load of sperm into my soft, gentle pussy. I sighed at my walls being pulled in and apart from these strong pulses. His eyes closed from the relief of climax, causing the chains to weaken their grip and I suddenly slid down to the floor, his cock slipping out of me and pulsing out it’s last load of sperm all over my face and breasts. I looked up at Damian, trying to make a seductive face, my mouth slightly agape. He grinned down at me, grabbing his cock with his hand and jerking it off until a few more silky strands slipped out onto my tongue, which I swallowed happily, matching his grin with a smirk.

Chapter 14
As the hour rolled by, Zeo opened up and told me about his personal vendetta against Masamune; now I finally know his name. Although I am sure there is, as always, another perspective on the whole situation, I have to say I was surprised Gingka hasn’t noticed his teammate was such a selfish power-hungry guy. Nonetheless, I think talking to Zeo about it helped him and even if that is the only extent to which I can help, I am fine with that.
“I will be cheering you on Zeo, don’t you worry” I gave him a side hug with my right arm: “I’m just surprised Gingka didnt realise he was like this earlier.”
“Masamune thinks he didn’t do anything wrong” Zeo sighed: “The arrangement tomorrow will finish him off, and I will have my revenge by any means necessary.”
In my thoughts, I reflected on the fact that Starbreaker members all have a strong drive: Zeo’s revenge, Damian’s need for dominance, and Jack’s need to express himself. None are necessarily bad, Zeo’s especially sounds quite reasonable, but it’s just strange how different they are than Excalibur. My thoughts then moved onto the clock on my wrist, wondering when was Damian going to be done.
“Have you seen Jack?” I asked, to change the topic.
Zeo checked his smart watch: “oh he’s probably painting or something. He always has the energy burst day before a big match.”
“Wait, is he fighting Gingka or Damian?”
“Well, unless Gan Gan Galaxy somehow found a third member they didn’t announce anything about, I think Gingka will go against both Damian and Jack. I insisted on Masamune.”
The elevator door slid open, and Jack stepped out. He was without his mask and coat, his hands covered in bits of paint. With a small pant, he sighed: “I finished yet another beautiful masterpiece!”
“Great Jack” Zeo said without any particular emotion, more like an acknowledgement: “Wanna come sit with us? I think they’ll serve lunch soon”
“Excellent” Jack sat down next to us: “I am positively starving!”
“How do you feel about tomorrow’s match?” I asked him as he fixed his hair, which also apparently had some strands covered in an ultramanrine blue paint:
“FILLED WITH INVIGORATING EXCITEMENT” he yelled, which startled both Zeo and I considering his seemingly tired enterance into the room: “I cannot wait to use the feathers of a mythical Pegasus to scatter across a canvas distributed to a global audience to see!”
Zeo seemed bored with Jack, but also worried about his own problems. To compensate for the differences in energies, I tried to calm them both down:
“Tomorrow is going to be challenging, but you have every upper hand possible” I shot a smile at Zeo particularly, and he smiled back softly: “Yeah, it seems Damian’s cruelty saved us a lot of work in this tournament.”
“Blessed are his hands” Jack added, theatrically waving his hand, which I just noticed was missing a glove: “There is just sometning so beautiful in destruction and obliteration, something so simple and clean. And he really does a beautiful job.”
Without knowing what to say, I stood up to get some water, when two people dressed in black plain clothes entered the room with two trays of food, putting them on the table in the conversation pit and leaving just as fast as they came in. I poured myself a glass of ice cold water and sat down with the boys again. Jack dug into his rich plate first and quite hasty:
“Bon appétit!” I smiled at them, Jack nodded as a response because his mouth was full, and Zeo perked up his head:
“Oh you speak French?”
“Yeah, I studied it in school. Latin and French were mandatory second languages. But now I mostly just listen to the music really…”
“That’s so cool” Zeo smiled and took a bite of food off his fork.
“Let’s play some music!” Jack waved with his fork, almost stabbing Zeo’s ear: “Camila can even play some refreshing French music to add ambience to this bland room, which I told Ziggurat many times requires more colour…” Jack kind of trailed off into his own thoughts.
“Yeah of course I can play some” I picked up my phone and looking through the songs I had, before finding one I was convinved Jack was going to love: “Jack, this one is for you!”
As the first notes of ‘dernière danse’ by Indila played, Jack was completely in trance: “oh my… OH MY!”
“Now you’ve done it” Zeo almost choked himself laughing at Jack, who was moving along to the music. He then stood up, and gradually made additions to his range of motion: “Camila, this is WONDERFUL!”
I laughed and got up to join him, singing along with the singer. Zeo was definitely enjoying what he was seeing, because he accidentally spilled my water all over himself by kicking the table with his foot. By the end of the song, we had a little party of three: Jack and I were the singing dancers, and Zeo was our delighted audience.
“Okay what’s next?” I picked up my phone: “what do you guys listen to?”
“I really like this artist” Jack pointed to the ceiling with his finger, referring to the one we just litened to. I looked at Zeo, who was patting himself dry with a napkin: “oh man, uhm, I don’t know… I kind of like rock?”
A mischevious thought crossed my mind, bringing warmth to my cheeks: “what does Damian listen to?”
Jack and Zeo unanimously said: “Ziggurat”, before all three of us burst into laughter.
“He always seemed like a Carmina Burana guy to me” I sighed, sitting down. Although I didn’t expect anyone to get my reference, Jack burst into laughter: “Carmina Burana… this is too good!”
I pressed play on a song called ‘love story’, also by Indila, to Jack’s major satisfaction, as the three of us continued the chat. Then, the elevator door slid open, and Damian stepped out with a smile pointed my way: “Am I interrupting a party?”
“Camila’s been playing us some delightful French music, Damian. Come and join us!” Jack said, he was visibly very happy. Zeo also seemed much more relaxed than earlier.
“Hm” Damian’s eyes rolled across the room and the three of us: “Interesting.”
“Sit with us, Damian.” I smiled at him.
“Fine” he sighed and sat down with his elbows on his knees. The song continued in the background:
“Is she saying ‘love story’? In the song?” Jack asked, and I nodded in response.
“At least something we can understand” Damian added, referring to none of the boys speaking French.
At that moment, all three of the boys receieved a message on their devices. Zeo and Jack read theirs on their smart watches, and Damian read his on a phone-like device he pulled out of his pocket.
“Group meeting?” Zeo looked up: “About what? Haven’t we decided everything already?”
“Well then there are other things to discuss, obviously.” Damian replied with a grin, but visibly annoyed by Zeo’s question. As a response to what Damian said, Zeo stood up abruptly with his fists clenched in anger and his lips pursed together, as if to prevent himself from saying something, and walked over to the elevator:
“I’ll see you at the meeting.” he stated before the doors closed behind him.
“We should be going as well” Jack said casually, as if this scene didn’t happen at all, making his way to the elevator. When his back was turned to us, Damian whispered: “see you after” into my ear before rushing off behind him.
With the fall of the evening, the energy and heat of the day lifted, and tiredness swept over Hades. I was laying in Damian’s bed, as he was studying the data Hades Inc. has collected on Gingka, his fighting style and Bey, off his large TV screen.
“Damian” I purred, slowly hugging him from the back: “You’re ready. Please come to bed.”
His face remained focused on the screen: “I don’t want any surprises tomorrow.”
He evidently didn’t understand I was craving his attention: “You need rest for the Arrangement tomorrow, there is nothing Gan Gan Galaxy can surprise you with.”
“I suppose you’re right” he sighed and turned off the TV, crawling under the sheets, and I cuddled up to him:
“Have I ever told you that I really like the name Starbreaker?”
“Hm?” Damian lifted an eyebrow, clearly departing from his previous train of thought.
“Because of, obviously, the flag, but also because you break stars” I slid myself on top of him, and caressed his hair: “stars like Gingka… and what is a galaxy without stars?” I smiled at him, trying to allude to Gan Gan Galaxy’s name.
His mouth stretched into a very satisfied smile, this has improved his mood significantly: “I really am the Chosen One because of how lucky I got.” he leaned in and kissed me passionately before turning me around and got on top of me, more assertive and confident than earlier today.
“Aren’t you tired?” I checked the time and saw the effects of the Arrangement were supposed to kick in by now.
“Not at all” he grinned in a sadistic smile, pushing his hands under my top, and placing his knee between my thighs accidentaly, making me moan unexpectadly. I moved my hips in motion, grinding on his knee and thigh until he suddenly flipped me around, grabbing my hips. I realised he knew what he wanted, to assert dominance and fuck me senseless, and relaxed all of my muscles in hopes of being rewarded. Soon after, I was moaning breathlessly as his thrusts kept hitting my senstitive spot. With my chest pressed flat against the bed, his one hand holding the back of my neck, and the other gripping my hip, I had completely let him take control.
“Damian..” I moaned into the bedsheets, separating the sylablles from the thrusts.
He chuckled: “you’re a slut for me, aren’t you now?”
“Yes” I moaned: “please Damian, please… I’m about to finish…”
He chuckled again, this time a bit more sadistically, as he put his other hand on my hip as well, gripping them from both sides now, and letting out a pleasure-full sigh: “Good for you”
Then he picked up the pace, and I came. For me, orgasms have always felt like tripping over something: there is a repetative motion until a point when you trip over something, and then are in a free fall, surrendered to what’s happening to you, and what’s about to happen to you, before a wave of sensations comes crashing into you. He finished soon after me, my pussy still pulsating from my own release as he was filling it up with his sperm.
He laid down onto his back next to me, and I turned around to my side to face him. We locked our eyes, simply staring at each other for a minute or so before slowly drifting off to sleep.

Chapter 11
Dr. Carlisle walked me to his office, which was a taupe windowless room with two lush plants in the corners, a beige armchair facing a beige chaise sofa of the same design, and a warm soft light coming from the ceiling. The wall behind the armchair had a large canvas with calming, muted colours that were flowing into each other without pattern. The entire room gave a serene atmosphere, and judging by its design and layout I realised Dr. Carlisle was a psychiatrist.
“Take a seat, please make yourself comfortable” Carlisle said in a very calming way: “would you like some tea?”
“Depends on how long I’m going to be here” I smiled at him, taking a seat on the sofa that was so comfortable I was contemplating asking him where he got it from. He handed me a cup of some fresh herbal tea that smelled relaxing and reinvigorating, before he sat down in his armchair holding his own cup:
“Well Camila, I know we’ve been formally introduced, but I would also like to introduce myself to you. I’m dr. Vincent Carlisle, and I’m the psychologist taking care of team Starbreaker.” I took a sip of the delicious tea, listening to him carefully.
“I brought you here because this room has no monitoring system whatsoever, and is completely sound-proof for maximum privacy.” He cleared his throat: “I wanted to talk about what happened just now at the demonstration.”
“Okay” I nodded, genuinely interested in which direction this conversation was going to continue.
“I hope you don’t mind, and I apologise if I was breaching your privacy with this, but I was observing you during the demonstrations. I believe there is something you should know about Damian, especially after what happened today.”
Leaning back into the plush sofa, I wondered what this was all about: “yes doctor?”
“Damian has been in my care almost his entire life, and is a very particular case. Perhaps even the most complex one I’ve had in my career.” I frowned, wondering why was he in psychotherapy since he was a child, but I did not want to interrupt. “He has changed drastically since then, and this is definitely a result of the Arrangement system administered to the Starbreaker members. All three of them have shown large differences in behaviour and thinking patterns since beginning with the treatment, but Damian remains an isolated case because of how long he’s been taking it.”
“But, why do they do it then?” I knew asking this probably sounded daft, but I was none the wiser in this situation without asking.
“Dr. Ziggurat ruled out the mental side effects as circumstancial, as things in psychology often can be, because he doesn’t want his project compromised.” He paused to take a sip of his tea: “But what we saw today may be proof that the effects of the arrangement may not be completely irreversable in long-term users, such as Damian.”
“How long has he been taking it?”
“10 or 11 years, I believe.”
To say I was shocked was an understatement of massive proportions. I am by no means an expert on the topic, but from what I was told in these two days this Arrangement system seemed to be very dangerous: “How is that even possible?”
“I’m afraid that I both don’t know, and that the information is highly classified. Damian seems to be completely compatible with the arrangement system, and I came onboard around the time he began the treatment to monitor his mental state over the years. I don’t know if you’ve read the news, but countless other Hades Academy Bladers lost their minds after the Arraangement, many with permanent physical damage as well.” He paused again to sigh, this was a difficult topic: “That’s why finding candidates that are suitable with the system is so difficult.”
“Is that why Ziggurat keeps Zeo in the team even though he is suffering from the side effects?”
“Kind of” Carlisle nodded his head: “they have a separate deal that I’m not allowed to discuss with you, but because Zeo is mostly compatible he was chosen to complete the team for the tournament.”
There was another silence, but then the doctor put down his cup on a small side table next to the armchair: “What I’m trying to say is: Damian has gone through physical and mental changes that are definitely not normal, and I believe he is also suffering from trauma and effects of being manipulated and lied to for most of his life. I won’t lie to you, Ziggurat and I brought you here for two separate reasons, but mine is the wellbeing of the boys. Today I saw there may be hope in recovery, and all I’m asking is that you help me in my endeavour.”
“How?”
“Tell me anything you believe will be useful for my part of the reseach, and you yourself can speak to me anytime.” He gave me a reassuring smile: “And if anyone asks, you never heard any of this; we spoke about your adjustment into Hades today.”
“Of course.” I smiled back. He walked me to the door, and we both saw Zeo waiting for his appointment. He was completely surprised to see me leaving the room, but said hi nonetheless. Something else seemed to be on his mind again. In the corridor, I was waiting for the elevator when I noticed it was 10:45AM and that I had nothing to do. I didn’t even know where the boys were. When the elevator came, I chose to go to the common room just in case Jack was there. When the door slid open, I saw the room was empty. For a moment, I considered going to my own room, but then I realised checking in on Damian might also be a good idea. He seemed quite upset earlier.
The door to his room slid open, revealing Damian sitting on his bed without his cape, with Kerbecks on the sheets and a remote control in his other hand, which he probably opened the elevator door with:
“I came to see how you are” I felt kind of awkward, considering his face didn’t even have that mishevious flare I am used to seeing, but a dissatisfied frown. His room was spacious, perhaps even bigger than Jack’s, but a complete opposite in terms of interior. Damian’s room was white, minimalistic and clean, with lights surrounding the plush, white, cloud-like bed. There was an empty desk closer to the elevator, and a large thin TV on the wall facing the bed. His room also had a floor-to-ceiling window wall, with semi-transparent white blinds diffusing the incoming sunlight. Unlike the common room or the hallway, the air in Damian’s room was much cooler and had an almost hospital-like scent:
“Look” he broke my train of thought: “I don’t know where all of you guys get this ‘mercy’ nonsense, but I am here to win” he got up and walked over, suddenly standing right in front of me: “And I will destroy whoever is in my way.”
“I’m sorry if I got you into trouble.”
“Trouble?” He laughed: “I am the Chosen One. The prodigy of the Arrangement System - the guardian of Hades.” He paused, I was looking at the floor: “And my power will not be made smaller or humbled just so a bunch of weak twigs can feel better about themselves!”
“Damian, your strength does not make other people weak.” I tried using some Excalibur philosophy on him.
“Lemme ask you something, Camila” he came up close to my face with a grin. I noticed his eyes were more feline than I’d originally thought, and I was kind of speechless staring into his sterling grey irises, he was actually quite attractive: “Were you ever good at something?”
“I-“ I begun, but he interrupted me:
“No, you weren’t.” He smirked: “Because if you were you wouldn’t be whimpering around here with nothing to do, and so much to say.” I just stood there speechless, absolutely lost for words. The satisfaction on his face was immesurable, perhaps even comprable to when he humiliated Julian in front of an entire stadium and live cameras.
“You’re right.” I stared at him, taking in every detail in his face, trying to remember what Carlisle told me: “But you don’t have to be so cruel just because someone was cruel to you.”
He scrunched his nose, changing his grin into a snarl: “And what do you know? You dumped your loser team as soon as Ziggurat waved some cash at you. What was that if not cruel?”
He was right. I couldn’t argue with him: he was completely right. I just stood there, embarassed to even be alive, regretting I even came into this pristine white cave to face the truth I didn’t want - or need - to hear.
“You’re right.” I straightened my back and looking him straight in the eyes, trying to hide my shame: “You chose to win; I chose to survive.”
He scoffed, rolling his eyes: “What a pathetic line.” Then he came closer to me, looking at me with a provoking grin, bordering with ridicule: “I think Julian dumping you was the best thing that ever happened in your lame life.”

Chapter 10
I woke up early because I was not sure what time the demonstration begun; of course I had forgotten to ask Jack yesterday. I did my hair and skincare, and did a very simple makeup look consisting of a mineral powder foundation, mascara, blush and tinted lip balm. I wanted to look nice for the event because I was not sure what to expect, so better be safe than sorry. For the outfit, I chose regular light wash straight jeans, a black peplum tank top because it was extremely warm today again and black slingback flats. While I was putting on the finishing touches, I texted Ziggurat’s assistant for further instructions which she sent over to me a few minutes later. She instructed me where to come, and that the event was at 9AM sharp, meaning I still had time for some breakfast. After finding my way to the canteen, which was suggested by the assistant, I picked up a plate of vegetable quiche, joghurt bowl with granola and fruits, and a big latte to keep me going. Although I was not disturbed through my meal, I could not help but notice a lot of glances, giggles and whispers among the Academy boys who were having their breakfast all around me. Of course, I could not be sure this was really because of me, but I felt uncomfortable nonetheless; it’s always an unsettling feeling recognised and discussed by people you know nothing about.
“Good morning” Ziggurat acknowledged my enterance into the room: “How have you found living in Hades?”
Smiling to myself because of how interesting that sentence sounded in a different context, I observed him sitting cross-legged on a large dark brown sofa in a very minimalist room with a few couches and armchairs facing a glass wall overlooking a large Bey stadium, kind of like a smaller version of a VIP lounge at a football stadium. Dr. Carlisle was also there, and a couple of people I didn’t recognise: “Very comfortable, you’ve been too kind to me. Thank you.”
He smirked: “Damian just told us how the first meeting went.” And glanced his eyes to my left. I turned my head and inaudibly gasped at Damian standing there, I didn’t see him when I came into the room because I focused on Ziggurat and the others: “Oh, sorry I didn’t see you”
While the adults moved onto a different conversation, something about where Jack is, Damian walked over with a smirk, his hands in the pockets of his uniform: “I didn’t think you were gonna show up.”
“I can’t miss an opportunity to see ‘America’s Sweetheart’ in action.” I smiled at him, quoting Jack from yesterday: “Besides, Jack invited me.”
He actually seemed a bit bothered by the latter: “You still haven’t answered my question.”
“Which is?”
He grinned, something between a sneer and a polite smile: “Will you be rooting for Starbreaker as enthusiastically as you did for Excalibur?”
I stared at him for a bit; I have begun to seriously consider he always had an agenda. A reason to upset someone, or to dominate over them for some reason. I took a seat at an empty couch close to the glass wall before looking up at him: “Which answer would please you the most, Damian?”
He chuckled, and sat down next to me crossing his legs. At that moment Jack waltzed into the room: “Ah my apologies” he announced before he sat next to us as well, completely ignoring Ziggurat and the rest of the team.
“Well then” Ziggurat cleared his throat: “I believe we are ready to start now. Let Zeo and the others in.”
While Zeo and four other Bladers in grey jumpsuits walked into the stadium inaudibly, I realised being sandwiched between Damian and Jack meant I would probably hear some upsetting comments. At just that moment, Damian spoke up: “How long do you think it’ll take him?”
“About 15 minutes I think” Jack answered: “His limp is still there.”
The Bladers launched their Beys, and the battle commenced very quickly: “Why is it one against four?”
“Because otherwise the battle would last 30 seconds” Damian replied swiftly and emotionless, but locked eyes with me for a bit longer than necessary. I broke the contact first, deciding to focus on Zeo instead. It was now 8 minutes into the battle, and Jack was already agitated: “What is taking him so long?! I am boooored!!”
Ziggurat spoke up this time: “Be patient Jack, you know your instructions just as well as Zeo. You need to pull out the full potential of the Blader before you strike him down.” As a reply, Jack sighed in annoyance. Soon after this conversation, Zeo called his special move and took all the Bladers out, their Beys flying right off the stadium.
“He was much more stable today” Dr. Carlisle commented to the others: “The new therapy seems to be working.”
“Yes I am also pleased.” Ziggurat adjusted his glasses, before redirecting his view to Jack, who’d just stood up: “But I am more looking forward to you, Jack. Give us a show.”
“Of course, Doctor” Jack grinned at the room, before leaving. It took a couple of minutes until Jack reappeared on the other side of the glass, facing 6 Bladers. The battle took off almost immediately, and Jack was really wasting no time in beginning to carve out lines into the stadium and laughing:
“His hallucinations have been acting up again haven’t they?” Ziggurat sighed, and Carlisle took some notes on his tablet: “Unfortunately. But he did claim Camila helped him calm down.” He darted a little smile at me: “In fact, he was really happy he had someone to talk with about his interests.”
Ziggurat smiled: “Very good job, Camila” I purposefully didn’t reply, because I hated how they all thought I pretended just for Jack’s sake. In fact, I was straight up offended. Damian remained silent, playing with his Bey instead of paying attention to this conversation or to Jack’s battle. He had carved out half of the stadium already into abstract lines, four Beys were already stuck into the walls, and the last two were barely holding up against his attacks. But he was toying with them, torturing them instead of just finishing the battle. By the time he was done the dome looked like an absolute wreck, but it seemed Ziggurat was satisfied with Jack’s performance: “Amazing! Let the boys know the stadium needs to be changed before Damian’s turn.” He smiled at us before leaving the room with Carlisle. Damian then smirked viciously, looking at me in the reflection of the glass in front of us:
“Can you even handle seeing Hades Gate again without crying for the losers?” Then he turned his head around to look at me directly: “Or should I just burn them to a crisp instead?”
“Damian, if you want me to cheer for Starbreaker then show me you can win without torture.” I knew he would ignore my challenge, because torture is just too much fun for him, but I also didn’t feel the need to be polite to him anymore.
He scoffed, visibly annoyed. Ziggurat and Carlisle returned to the room, with Jack and Zeo by their sides. Ziggurat sat down at his previous position: “Okay Damian, show us the power.” Damian got up and stormed out of the room, while Zeo and Jack sat down next to me:
“What pissed him off so much?” Zeo took a sip of water.
“No idea” Jack sighed and spread his legs: “But whatever it is it will just mean more fun for us to watch!”
A wave of realisation passed me over: it didn’t even occur to me that pissing Damian off could result in permanent damage to the other Bladers. Damian reappeared in the stadium, with 10 Bladers waiting for him there already. Guilt accumulated in my throat when I noticed Damian’s grin as he was pulling out Kerbecks and the launcher. A few minutes after, all the Beys were running across the stadium, three of them trying to attack Kerbecks simultaneously:
Damian laughed: “No wonder you’re about to become dog food for Kerbecks, you are a complete waste of the Arrangement!”
One of the other Bladers activated their special move, and accelerated with a full-on attack towards Kerbecks:
“That’s cute!” Damian scoffed with a grin, and Kerbecks took the other Bey out right in its stride: it flew away and struck the wall behind it’s owner, almost hitting him in the head and causing serious injury:
“Did you see that?!” I was on the edge of my seat: “He almost hurt that guy!”
Jack chuckled: “Wouldn’t be the first time Damian literally sent someone to Hades”
“What?!” I gasped and looked over at Damian again. Like a kid at playtime, he was grinning ear to ear while the other Bladers were sweating, putting everything they’ve got against him.
“C’mon Kerbecks: Hades Drive!” He called out, and Kerbecks unleashed it’s blazing run, filling the entire space with flames. In the midst of the inferno Damian looked up at me with a smile that gleamed against the light. I looked back at him, recognising he was completely consumed by the moment. I mouthed “Please, don’t” in an attempt to make him stop the road of destruction he was on right now. His smile slowly dropped, actually twisting into a dissatisfied sour expression before he looked back at his screaming opponents. After a pause, he just sighed: “I’m done.”
Kerbecks immediately stopped running, and jumped back into Damian’s hand as his opponents dropped to their knees, their Beys laying at the bottom of the stadium, emitting long strands of smoke.
“What??!!” Jack jumped from his seat, Zeo also seemed confused, and there was a silent pause of confusion in the room. Ziggurat let out a dissatisfied and short “hm” even though Damian won, and clicked a button to transmit his voice into the arena: “Everything all right Damian?”
He looked up at the window: “I was bored.” Then, as if to cover himself for acting different than usual, he directed his voice to his opponents: “Bored because of these weak excuses that call themselves Bladers of Hades Academy.” And stormed out of the arena.
After a moment of silence, Ziggurat got up, uttering “Send him to my office” to his assistants before leaving. Jack and Zeo also got up, discussing something while walking towards the door. As I stood up to follow them, I saw Dr. Carlisle observing me carefully, almost analytically. He then got up himself and walked over to me: “Camila, do you have a minute?”

Chapter 5
Bewildered, I ripped the entire envelope apart and opened the letter:
Dear Miss Casilarghi,
You are hereby personally invited to come to Hades Inc. headquarters tomorrow at noon for a meeting with dr. Ziggurat.
This invitation also extends to a pick up at 11:30AM and return to your hotel with our chauffeur, a guided tour of the entire Hades complex and a complimentary lunch. We are looking forward to your arrival.
Best regards,
Dr. Ziggurat
CEO of Hades Inc. and Hades Academy
“Oh like fuck I will” I threw the letter into the trash: “I wasn’t even asked, they just let me know I am supposed to come! Hah, ridiculous” slowly sitting down on the bed again and running my hands through my hair, my thoughts continued: “Hades…” could it have anything to do with Kerbecs? With Starbreaker? A quick Google search later, I learned that Starbreaker is managed by this dr. Ziggurat, and that this academy is where they train their bladers. I also came across many articles about how Starbreaker members are the only three members of the Academy that were ever publicly acknowledged as graduates of the program. Apparently, many people apply and get accepted, but the majority get sent home eventually. One article even said all accepted candidates of the program need to sign iron-clad NDAs, but this was from a blog so I took it with a grain of salt. I was in a conflicted position: on one hand, I didn’t want to waste my time, which was meant to be dedicated to reconciling with Julian, on the guy who managed those lunatics from Starbreaker, but I also couldn’t help but wonder what he wants to talk about with me? This was all very suspicious, yet thought provoking. Drawing myself a warm bath to rest in, I decided to indulge dr. Ziggurat and see what he wants. After all, if I will want to leave I can. After this, I will get in contact with Julian and see if he recovered enough to speak with me.
For the meeting, I decided not to dress too formally. Even though I decided to indulge dr. Ziggurat with this meeting, I don’t plan on honouring him or his organisation by wearing my nice clothes. Therefore, I settled on a pair of ankle-length straight white jeans, and a black viscose tank top with a square neckline and thick straps, accessorised with a regular black shoulder bag and white sneakers. At 11:30 sharp, the chauffeur was in front of the hotel, holding the rear door of a big, black jeep open for me. The driver himself was dressed all in black, and was wearing black leather gloves and sunglasses. He greeted me with a polite, noticably trained smile as I settled into the vehicle. The seats were comfortable and soft, but the tainted side windows made me feel uneasy. The drive itself was not long, but it occurred to me that the reason why they sent a driver in the first place was because they want absolute control over who comes in, and who goes out. The Hades complex was in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by nothing but dust and empty land. A circle of tall buildings built of sun-reflecting glass surfaces, which gave the city a kind of glow from a distance, surrounded a single skyscraper. Upon entering the city, I noticed that there was no one in the streets, maybe an odd man here and there. The driver pulled up in front of the tallest skyscraper, and another suited man opened the door for me.
“Welcome to Hades Inc.” A short, blonde woman greeted me with a neutral but pleasant voice. She accompanied me to the elevator, where she placed one of the highest floors.
“How come there is no one in the streets?”
She smiled mildly at me: “people are working! This is a company more than anything. Besides, this time of the day it gets too warm, and the solar panels work better if there are no disturbances.”
“But where are the employees’ cars then?”
“There are several levels of underground facilities in this complex, the first one featuring a garage” she spoke just a bit more lively than Siri or Alexa, but in a very similar manner. When the door opened, there was another frosted glass wall in front of us, the door of which required a finger print for enterance. Apparently, the glass wall was sound-proof, because when she let me in I could hear two men discussing something:
“Sir, your 12PM appointment is here.” the woman let me in and closed the door softly behind me.
Dr. Ziggurat sat straight across from me, seated behind a minimalistic black desk, with two chairs in front of it, and surrounded by light gray walls and carpet. There was a lot of natural light coming into the room through floor-to-ceiling windows, yet the room was at a comfortamble temperature.
Dr. Ziggurat got up from his seat, and walked over with a grin. When he stood up, I noticed he was much taller and skinnier than I expected. He extended his hand: “Camila, so nice of you to come!” He showed me to one of the seats in front of him. On the left side of the room was a two-seat black leather sofa supported by a silver metal rod, and a man with a short beard and thin glasses sat there.
“I am dr. Ziggurat, the owner of Hades Inc., and this is my colleague, dr. Carlisle. If it is not a problem, he would like to stay for this meeting.”
“You have a lovely complex, dr. Ziggurat” I employed a bit of charm my mother taught me: “I am really impressed by the design and upkeep of the entire facility.”
“We do try our best” Ziggurat smiled, before leaning back and looking at his tablet: “So Camila, I see here you speak 4 languages?”
I was just about to engage in this small talk, when I decided my time was more valuable: “Why am I here, dr. Ziggurat?”
He smiled again: “Straight to the point. Very well. Are you aware that I am the managing figure of the US representative team in this Beyblade championship?”
“Until now, I wasn’t” I lied, but I was not going to give him the satisfaction of admitting I Googled Hades Inc. last night.
“How did you like the battle yesterday, especially as a supporter of the European team?” He grinned and looked at me directly over his orange-tinted glasses.
“Doctor, am I really here to talk about that? Besides, I didn’t even watch it.” I blurted out, I don’t even know why.
“Now now, lying is not very ladylike. I’m sure you know that” He fixed his glasses: “Besides, we are well aware of your affiliation with Julian Konzern, and your recent… how shall I put it… change in this affiliation?” I stared at him, I did not know what to say. Yes, I was frequently photographed with him and his family, so I wasn’t unfamiliar to the occasional photo in the newspaper, or a mention in a gossip column, but this guy seemed to have more information on me than I would be comfortable giving if he directly asked me.
“We think you were not treated fairly by Julian, or Excalibur.” He lowered his tone a bit: “and after seeing your passionate support for the team regardless of the severed relationship, we could not help but want this extraordinairy woman for ourselves.”
“Excuse me for being so direct, but why are you interested in my personal life and disrespecting my privacy?”
“Please forgive me. I am a scientist, I’m not so good with words.” He explained, but I highly doubted that statement: “What I meant to say is; we think Julian and Excaibur treated you unfairly on a personal matter just as much as a professional one. You abandoned further studies and pursuits after graduation in order to support Julian, and were not compensated for the years of devoted service in any way. How is that fair?”
“I loved- I love him.”
“Yes, but do you see in what kind of a position he put you in? And left you in?” Ziggurat continued: “not to mention your family.”
In order to not come across as outraged, which I was, I took a moment of silence before I asked once more in a soft tone: “Doctor, why am I here?”
He smiled, this time a genuine one I think: “We would like to help you and your family by offering you a position at Hades Inc. with a generous salary. You would be working closely with the members of Starbreaker at a salary of your choice.”
I was absolutely baffled: “What?”
“We know you’re a supporter of the European team, but we hoped you might give our generous offer a thought.”
I thought about it, but how does any of this make sense? Who am I benefitting here? I could literally be ripping them off for vast sums of money? For what?
“And what would be the nature of my employment?”
“What an eloquent young lady” Ziggurat purred: “This is exactly what the boys need. We would like to hire you as… an assistant, shall we say. You would be living and working in the Starbreaker wing in order to bring a softer touch, and more team building among the members.”
Then the other doctor spoke up: “Their schedules are very densely organised, so we considered adding a feminine touch might help the boys feel more calm by bringing a more realistic environment to them. More balanced.”
“Balanced?” I asked, and I still wasn’t sure what my job would be exactly.
Ziggurat picked up this time: “We’ve seen your demeanour by Julian’s side, and we believe you would enhance our boys’ performance by providing them with a friendly, emotional support. Plus, the program of the Academy does not yet feature girls, so having a female presence might remind them of previous education, or of home.”
“And you would pay me whatever I asked to be a friend to the boys from Starbreaker?”
Carlisle cleared his throat: “by no means are we suggesting a particular kind of relationship, we would financially support your natural development of a relationship with the members of Starbreaker as a means of helping them reach their maximum potential.”
I accidentally snorted: “wait, you think I’d like to hang out with Jack and Damian after what they did to my friends yesterday?”
Both doctors chuckled: “Ah yes, Damian loves to take things too far to entertain the audience. And Jack is… simply extravagant.” Ziggurat explained, but I was not convinced at all. Enteratining the audience or being dramatic is completely different from torture and ridicule.
“I am sorry gentlemen but as of this moment I am not sure about this offer.”
There was a brief pause, before Ziggurat spoke up again: “Camila, you are a smart girl. You went to a prestigious school, and while all of your peers followed their dreams and potential, you were halted by your family’s lack of funds, yes, but primarily by a boy who asked you to drop everything to be by his side, only to leave you to fight your battle alone once things got too difficult for him to manage.”
“He never asked me.” I defended myself
“Not directly, no” Ziggurat left a moment of silence pass: “Consider our offer until this time tomorrow, and if you decide to join us, send a message to this contact.” He passed a card across the table, and leaned back in his chair: “Would you like a tour of the complex? Something to eat?”
Darting s look at the clock on the desk, I’ve noticed somehow an hour and a half passed, and I did not want to be here any longer: “Actually, I am still quite tired from yesterday. I would like to go home.”
After saying goodbye to both doctors, and promising to Ziggurat I would carefully consider his offer upon leaving the room, the door closed behind me cutting me off from the conversation the two doctors were about to have:
“She is very interesting” Carlisle massaged his temples: “not even typically pretty, she really has that subtle beauty.”
“Yes, she is very European” Ziggurat said, perhaps even sarcastically: “but she is exactly who we need in order to get what we want on all sides, and from what the investigators found her family is… quite desperate” He chuckled at this last part.
Carlisle looked at his colleague: “Do you think your plan is going to work?”
“You’re the psychiatrist, dear friend.” Ziggurat poured a glass of whiskey, and handed it to Carlisle: “Besides, it’s all women are good for isn’t it?”

Chapter 4
“Alright then, come at me with your left rotation!” Damian purred for the audience to hear, while Julian went to pick up Destroyer. His return to the Blader’s position seemed to last an eternity: no matter if he won or not, Excalibur lost. All he can do now is win for his pride, for his audience, for Klaus, Sophie and Wales. No doubt his confidence was shaken, but this battle is a sure thing. There is no way anyone, no matter how strong, can defeat Destroyer’s left rotation. I mean, they’d have to be stronger than Gingka then and that’s just impossible.
But then, Julian snapped: “To take back the pride I’ve lost, I will show my skills in this next battle!”
“Good for you” Damian sighed to that, cooly brushing him off “because that right rotation round wasn’t worthy of my time!”
“Go ahead and talk tough while you still can!” Julian replied with strength in his voice, and fire in his eyes. Oh yeah, I’ve seen this before: Damian is done. Upon launch, Damian’s Bey was sent flying into the air, followed by cheers from Gingka’s friendgroup and the crowd. Destroyer was definitely in charge now, with impacts of sheer force hitting Damian’s Bey left and right. A calm, warm feeling of familiarity, comfort and pride came over me, I knew that the series of strange events was now truly over because only two Beys in the world can spin in the opposite dorection, and there is no way some random Blader has the power to defeat it. I began thinking about Excalibur’s imminent win, and planning my way into their backstage corridor to talk to Julian before the crowds start getting up from their seats. All the stressful events and constant shocks from earlier caused a lot of stress on my body as well, I could feel my stomach feeling heavy and a sting of fresh air against my bleeding cuticles that I bit without realising. Julian called his special move, which when in left rotation meant certain win against any enemy as there was no escaping the blasts of gravity that came upon a Bey from every direction. The stadium filled with Destroyer’s purple energy and gusts of wind swirling in all directions, but Damian didn’t wince at all. In fact, his demeanour was that of curiosity.
“Special move: Black Excalibur!” Julian suddenly sung out among all of the noise.
“Yeees!!” I got up from my seat: “Victor Excalibur! Victor Excalibur! Go Julian!” I wanted him to win, I wanted to se my closest friend, the keeper of my secrets, the one I grew up with and spent all those challenging moments with to win. I wanted to see him happy, I wanted to see him achieve his dream and defend his honour.
Destroyer swung his dark purple sword buzzing with energy and power into the air, dozens of meters above the highest row of the stadium, as dark lightening and gusts of electricity ran accross the stadium. Just as he was about to strike, I darted a look at Damian, craving to see a coward shitting his pants after all the disrespect he’s shown to Julian. But just before the gust of smoke took over, I saw an inviting grin.
With low visibility, the presenter jumped in to describe what just happened on the field: “NO! No way! Kerbecs stopped Julian’s all out special move right in its tracks!” I could see Sophie and Wales gripping the handrail that separated them from the battle, eager to see Julian emerge from the smoke, but just as tense as I am.
Damian chuckled: “So that thing was your special move, was it? I see against a normal Bey that probably would have won… However, it won’t work against Kerbecks when it’s in Boost Mode!”
“Julian’s special move didn’t work at all! What is going on out there?!” Gingka was literally on the edge of his seat, and even though the girl sitting next to him was saying something important I couldn’t hear her at all over the spinning that was happening in my head. For a moment I was sure I was going to pass out, but I fought the pain because this was too important.
When I got a grip of myself and tuned back into the conversation, Gingka was saying: “Do you think he would’ve cooked up this best out of three battle thing just so… he could test Hades Kerbecks Boost Mode?!?” I was speechless, utterly speechless if this was true. Lost for any words if Julian lost not to a Blader who was fighting for his team, but to a Blader who merely invited him to suffer so he could test out a design innovation.
“Hang in there Destroyer, counter attack!” Julian was trying to salvage the situation.
“Waste of time!” Damian proclaimed to the entirety of the stadium: “After your so-called special move has been stopped, what more could you possibly do?”
Julian gasped: “I can-“
“Parading around like an emperor when this is the hight of your power, how sad! Just make it easy on yourself, you don’t have any extraordinairy power so there’s no need to keep up that tough guy act!”
I was convinced I was going to faint, I could not feel my face anymore, yet my mouth was gaping open at what I was witnessing. Who is this cruel… this… monster?
“I’m going to take all of it away from you: your pride, confidence, everything sweet!!”
Kerbecks lashed strikes again, and again, with every hit grasping the air out of my lungs. My best friend was out there, and I was powerless to stop someone who was hurting him. What I would have done, or given, to just run out there and slap Damian’s face so hard he’d never speak to anyone like this ever again! Julian begged for mercy, but Damian didn’t listen. He was enjoying himself, and it didn’t matter that even the crowd fell silent, he was going to get what he wanted.
“Stop it! The battle’s already been decided!” Gingka rose a single cry from the audience, accompanied by his friend. Damian’s grin was wide and vicious, not diminishing even when he answered: “No it isn’t! Kerbecks has not revealed it’s true power yet, not even close!”
“JULIAN!”
To my absolute surprise, Sophie and Wales jumped in with their Beys: “Scarring Julian any further will simply not be allowed!”
“YES!” I gasped: finally an end to this atrocious torture. I wonder why the presenter, or the judges or fucking anyone didn’t step in until now? Torturing an opponent cannot possibly be according to the tournamet rules?
The presenter then jumped in, saying Excalibur forfeits as a consequence of breaching the rule of interrupting a game:
“We won’t allow Julian to be humiliated any further!”
“YES!” This time, I was yelling, and some encouraging claps and whistles came from the crowd in the rows behind.
“Heey!” Damian gleamed: “You two are gonna help me test Kerbecks as well? In that case, I won’t hold back at all as I invite all of you straight into Hades!”
Sophie, Julian and Wales called their special moves together - a combination I heard they were practicing in the week before our breakup. Two huge waves rose up, with Destroyer rising above like a dark Poseidon armed with his sword.
“So” I smiled to myself: “they succeeded. They made it work.”
Damian was quick to interrupt their scenic moment of glory: “Nice stuff! Now check this out!” Before he said anything else, I felt a sudden change in the air. It became ice cold even though the sun was shining and it was hot until a second ago, and a slow, swirling wind began to pick up.
Then, a blinding surge of fire-like energy erupted from Kerbecs, similar in appearance but different in magnitude to when Damian called Hades Drive; the stadium grew from ice cold to excruciatingly and suffocatingly hot in a milisecond. When I opened my eyes, I gasped at the sight of a giant dark door levitating in the middle of the stadium:
Damian roared: “Open right now, Hades Gate!”
The gate swung wide to display an empty and endless shadow realm of agony, from which red eyes awoke. Ice cold sweat ran down my feverish body, conflicting sensations caused by something paranormal: something unnatural.
Gold chains whipped out of the abyss, capturing Excalibur’s Beys - a scene of legend, of myth - good versus evil.
Then, the three headed Cerberous, Hades’s faithful servant, emerged from the darkness adorned in gold chain and collars, ready to inflict absolute pain and suffering.
Swirls of fire, absolutely real fire swam across the stadium before retracting to the inferno beyond the gate, and with a swift motion the door sunk into the depths of the Earth, beyond the sight of mortal eyes. The three Beys, and their Bladers, were motionless in their defeat.
Kerbecks faithfully jumped into Damian’s hand, but my bewildered, tearing eyes were locked on Julian’s frail standing frame.
“You’re weak.” Damian spoke among the deathly silence of the stadium, against the faint whimpers of Julian’s cry: “Now you understand that? Admit it.”
“Admit it?”
“Please Julian… please don’t let him win…” I begged under my breath, with boiling tears streaming down my face as I gazed at this broken man on one side of the stadium, and his tormentor’s eyes watching him from across: “please…”
“Yes that’s right, say it lound and clear: you are weak!” Damian ordered sadistically
“I… I am…” Julian whimpered
Damian smiled: “I am… what?”
“Weak.” Julian sunk to his knees as Damian burst into a laugh of victory. But unlike the manic laughter we heard from Jack earlier, this one was an echo of something unfamiliar and cruel.
The crowd remained completely silent. No one, not even the presenters moved or said a word as Damian strolled back and dissapeared into the tunnel leading into the backstage. After Excalibur members were also escorted backstage by paramedics, I ran out into the hallway to get to their quarters, but the newspapers and reporters beat me to it. The entire hall all the way to the enterance was full of ambitious and aggressive reporters trying to get a good picture of what misery and defeat looks like. For them, this was the scoop of the entire year.
I ran out and got into the first taxi that came by. I needed to get to my hotel as soon as possible and wrap my head around what had just happened. I saw I had dozens of missed calls and texts from mine and Julian’s friends who had watched the live stream, but I just couldn’t bring myself to read them. Somehow, I found the way to my room and into my bed, where all of my emotions poured out, leaving a stream of mascara and tears on the crisp white pillowcase. An hour, or even more, passed all the same. Eventually, the emotions calmed down a little bit; I tried calling all the Excalibur members, even their manager and Julian’s parents, but nobody picked up the phone.
I got up to order some tea and medicine to my room, when an envelope I hadn’t noticed before appeared slipping in from under the door. I slowly picked it up, turning it around to see who it was from:
Hades Inc.
