by Daniel Greenfield
Not only did Weingarten not stand with Jewish activists against the Women’s March antisemitic leaders, but she is a board member of the Americans for Peace Now BDS group whose CEO Hadar Susskind praised Ben & Jerry’s decision to boycott Israel as a “principled moral stance which we fully support”. APN has platformed antisemitic figures like UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese who claimed that America is “subjugated by the Jewish lobby”.
Weingarten’s AFT union has demanded that Israel stop attacking Hamas in a resolution presented  with personal support from Randi at a convention where Kamala spoke. The AFT defended the pro-terrorist mobs harassing Jewish students and faculty on campuses.
Randi Weingarten has repeatedly attacked Israel and tweeted a quote claiming that  “the Hamas attack was heinous; the Israeli government’s actions in Gaza have been reprehensible.”
Weingarten’s girlfriend, Sharon Kleinbaum, and fellow participant in Jewish Americans for Kamala Harris is even worse. After Kleinbaum read the names of Hamas terrorists alongside fallen Israeli soldiers at the LGBTQ temple she formerly officiated at, congregants left feeling that it had become pro-terrorist. One departing congregant complained that it “was essentially delivering Hamas propaganda. … My partner and I are starting a family and frankly I don’t want to raise my kids in a synagogue that’s praying for people firing rockets.”
Kleinbaum had co-signed a T’ruah letter together with anti-Israel activists urging Biden not to allow Israel to finish off Hamas in Rafah and claimed that Israel cannot “lay the full responsibility for the unimaginable suffering of a massive population of trapped civilians at the feet of Hamas.” The letter also called for Biden to impose sanctions on members of Israel’s government.
Weingarten and Kleinbaum are not outliers at Jewish Americans for Kamala Harris.
Sharon Brous of IKAR, profiled by Variety as a “trendy, progressive congregation”whose wealthy congregants include Steven Spielberg and appears to have some link to Kamala’s husband, is also on the list. Brous had attacked the Jewish State before the Oct 7 attacks, including in a hateful Yom Kippur address, claiming that “there can be no democracy with occupation.”

Alongside my flaring interest in the plunderphonic style has been my discovery of an album that has quickly become one of my favorites; released 23 November 2023: Mimosa.
A collaborative effort from Brazilian artists cabezadenego, Mbé and Leyblack, the album uses energetic sampling of Afro-Brazilian music new and old, particular the genre Baile Funk, a music genre of hiphop and Miami Bass sensibilities that originated from the Rio de Janeiro slums - or favelas - in the early 1990s, with a jumpy, vulgar and generally fun attitude.
The sampling approach, as well as very straightforward lyricism about gay sex; entails an incredibly danceable musical experience of black queerness in Brazil: And for me, a window into a part of me nearly forgotten. Not the black part, though. I'm pretty olive.
TRANSLATED FROM A DECEMBER 2023 GABINETE ARTICLE (found on Instagram)
I made an effort to translate this myself, rather than use Google.
I ended up having to search up the translations for the words sintonia, autodenominado and faixas; overall, a nice turnout!
MIMOSA is a realized album and a celebration of the tentative failure in erasure of the culture and Afro-Brazilian rhythms that were, and are, marginalized and persecuted since the nation's founding.
The experimental sonority, entirely composed from samples, constructs a timeline, a chronology, of these rhythms, from the macumba (Afro-Brazilian religious practice) - being the root of everything - to drum n' bass and Miami bass, even the funks (Brazilian funk songs) that are hits on TikTok today.
With much syntony and creativity, a trio of artists, from an artistic residence in Spain, formed a new team, named by Luiz Felipe in our interview with a chronologic jazz group.
'Mimosa' has 14 varieties (referring to songs) and is available on all streaming platforms.

"For me the sample has the function of reframing (?), you recount the history via a new perspective [...] I find that the sample has a profound connection with black culture through its principles [...] it is based on our very own history. And the sample for me isn't just in music, it is in the argument; you can sample video, you can sample ideas, you can sample words, the way in which we created this project was entirely sampled."

The namesake - and sampling style - of my mapping piece draws from Replica, a 2011 plunderphonics album by Oneohtrix Point Never. In this work, artist Daniel Lopatin sampled 80s-90s television advertisements, layering them over thick synthesizer ambience to create a cultural reflection of a bygone time period.

Weingarten, Christopher (October 2011). "Download: Oneohtrix Point Never's Buzzing 'Replica'". The Village Voice.
This philosophy is most apparent in the song "Nassau".

After a day's worth of tinkering in the free audio software Audacity, I finished a 'replica' of my own:

Scopri i vincitori della cerimonia degli Oscar 2023, tra cui i The Daniels e Edward Berger che si portano a casa diversi premi. Leggi l’articolo per tutti i dettagli sulla cerimonia e i vincitori.
Miglior film: trionfo per The Daniels e Edward Berger
Quindi lei è stupenda e io sembro praticamente uno scroto“.

After Virginia Teacher Is Shot, Many Questions and a Murky Legal Path
Tumblr media
One of them is how did a child of 6 years gain access to a firearm? Authorities haven't publicly identified the child or teacher, or outlined the circumstances of the incident or provided information on whether the gun was stolen from the family school, home or any other location. The child was taken into custody by police on Friday evening, officials declared, but the peculiar circumstances of the case makes the way forward unclear. Although it's possible the child may be arrested for a crime Legal scrutiny could be placed on the child's parents or a different adult. Virginia law prohibits the leaving of guns loaded with ammunition in areas that is accessible to children who are under 14 years of age. On Saturday, a few families were left shocked state of sadness. "It's scary," said Ramon Gonzalez-Hernandez. He claimed His son was in the class where the teacher was shot. "I'm just here trying to keep my son occupied so he's not thinking about everything," Mr. Gonzalez-Hernandez said in a brief conversation from his front porch. He claimed he was waiting for a call from the detectives in order to schedule sessions for counseling and was thinking about whether to have his son home-schooled. A peaceful street where parents and their children are frequently wandering around the community, Richneck Elementary serves a varied student population that includes more than 550 students from kindergarten to fifth grade. Newport News, a city that has a population of 185,000 located in the southeast region of Virginia has a huge military population and is famous for its shipyard that produces aircraft carriers as well as various other ships for navy vessels for the U.S. Navy. Daniel Smith, 51, who lives close to the school's elementary campus He said he was shocked by the shooting , as the neighborhood around it is generally considered to be safe. "We're a quiet neighborhood," Smith stated. "Nobody bothers anybody and they look out for each other." The shooting has prompted the calls of teachers' unions along with gun control organizations for more strict laws to prevent guns from coming into of schools, such as laws which require secure storage. "When will the shock of gunshots in school be enough to inspire the action necessary to prevent guns in schools and the shattering of lives it causes?" Randi Weingarten President of the American Federation of Teachers, stated in an announcement. Read the full article

JOHN KENNEDY ASSASSINATED
JOHN KENNEDY ASSASSINATED - https://keywestlou.com/john-kennedy-assassinated/On this day in 1963, President John Kennedy was assassinated. America mourned. Kennedy was exciting. His family and administration exciting. He brought an excitement to America. He probably would have gone down as one of America's finest Presidents. Unfortunately, he was not President long enough. Less than 3 years. His major accomplishment was the Cuban missile crisis. He avoided what could have been a nuclear war with Russia. Who knows if another President would have handled the confrontation with the same skill he did. Republicans seem to be screwing up consistently. The weekend found four in the limelight. ASSHOLE first. Not Trump. Mike Pompeo. Remember Pompeo? Secretary of State under Trump. Graduated first in his class at West Point, magna cum laude from Harvard Law. Pompeo wants to be President. He has been quietly seeking the Republican nomination for 2024. He never impressed me as Secretary of State. He impresses me even less today. In an interview yesterday, he was asked who did he consider the most dangerous person in the world. He replied, "Not Chairman Kim, not Xi Jinping, not Putin. The most dangerous person in the world is Randi Weingarten." My immediate reaction: Who the hell is Weingarten? She is the head of the American Federation of Teachers Union. Pompeo has a "thing" about teachers: He is upset with the "filth teacher's unions are teaching our kids and the fact they don't know math and reading or writing." Turns out right wing extremists dislike Weingarten and teacher unions. Pompeo is selling his soul to the the extremists in his quest to get the nomination. As is everyone else on the Republican side. Mike Pence failed to distinguish himself on Meet the Press in a sunday interview. Pence supported Trump in everything up to January 6 while Trump was President. Pence was the "loyal" #2 man. January 6 cleansed his soul. While the insurrectionists were looking for him to hang, the gallows and rope already constructed on Capitol steps, Pence stood strong and refused to do what Trump wanted. Pence has now decided he wants to be President. He needs the support of Trump at some point and of the extreme right. He has become a whore in his quest. A whore similar to Kevin McCarthy who knocked Trump big time re January 6 and then flew to Mar-a-Lago to kiss his ring. Pence in effect kissed Trump's ring on Meet the Press sunday. Among other things, Pence knocked Justice for the search warrant on Mar-a-Lago. Should have been handled differently. How, he never said. He crucified Fauci for his "vaccination" handling of the COVID pandemic. Pence makes me sick. Strong language, I agree. The man is a religious fanatic. I have never trusted one. Alito back in the news. Appears he "leaked" another Supreme Court decision before it was published. A 2014 case concerning access to birth control. I have written several times over the years re Alito. He is a bitter man. Bitter because he was passed over for the Chief Justice position at one point in time. He "suppresses considerable resentment." He "has turned out to be angry, dark, retrogressive and historically damaging." He was recently described: "It's like he has gained a sense of freedom to change the world in the image he has for it." Finally, the Donald himself. Trump is not reacting well to GOP pleas to stay away from the Georgia runoff. Good luck! He'll go. Prosecutors in Trump cases continue to give me concern. There are those who are afraid to do their jobs. Recall Alvin Bragg. Manhattan District Attorney. Soon after taking office, he announced he was dropping the case his office was investigating against Trump. Furor reigned. Two of the Assistants working on the case resigned. Bragg apparently has now changed his mind. The rope is back around Trump's neck. May be tightening. His office announced the case against Trump for the $130,000 2016 hush money paid to Daniels via Michael Cohen was back under consideration. It was being "refocused." Six years after the event giving rise to the possible charge. Syracuse basketball. Syracuse in the Empire Classic being played at Barclay's in Brooklyn. Opened against Richmond last night. Syracuse won in overtime 74-71. Syracuse plays St. John's tonight at 9:30 in the championship game. St. John's beat Temple last night 78-72. Syracuse played well last night.....most of the game. Not all. Girard had the hot hand. Scored 31 points. Twenty one in the first half. Syracuse played a zone defense. Surprising since Boeheim had the team practicing and playing man to man in previous games. Boeheim will admit if the opposing team is hitting its 3's, the zone can be ineffective. It was much of the second half. Richmond was dropping the 3's in with frequency. Except, Syracuse's defense "woke up" with 6 minutes to go and held Richmond to 1 point. In the overtime, Syracuse held Richmond scoreless for 3 minutes. Wish Syracuse could play an effective defense a whole game. Syracuse sucked off the boards. Especially the offensive ones. Lucky to have won with that problem. I will be glued to the TV set this evening from 9:30 on. Enjoy your day!
