I guess I was overdue for a Daylor drawing but this was entirely an excuse to finally draw @blubary 's headcanon that Daniel has a blue 1972 Ford Ranger 😄 It was a lot of experimenting since I've never drawn sunset lighting or clouds before (and I genuinely can't tell what the correct scale is of a 1972 Ford Ranger compared to humans lol)

"Taylor, I wanna say something wild," Dave declared, swishing the water around with his tail. "Yeah, dude?" Taylor replied, turning to face him. There were a few minutes of silence, but the blonde was patient nevertheless.

"...I like you, Taylor,"

"Huh?"

"I like you, Taylor. Like, I think I am in love with you, and from moment one. That's why I saved you and your friends. And you...you don't want to kill me just for being a merperson. You love spending time with me and...I love spending time with you. Tay, I love you."

Taylor's heart jumped in his chest as his stomach did a 180°. "W...Wow, David, I didn't know you felt that way. Weird because ---"

"You think I'm weird because I like you, a guy? I knew the world wouldn't like a merman fag!"

"No!" Taylor chuckled, "I like you, too."

"Really? You mean it? A hundred percent?"

"Yeah. Hundred."

Dave moved closer to him. "Totally?" he asked once again. "Totally." Taylor responded, moving himself into a more comfortable position. Dave inched closer. He briefly caressed the younger male's cheek, moving so close that the side of his tail looked glued to Taylor's hip.

It was at that moment that he made a move. He leaned in much closer, closing the gap between them. He pressed a kiss to his lips, partially desiring a return of the gesture. He received it. Caught up in the moment, they didn't notice that they were gradually sliding off the side of the dock.

Taylor pulled away to break the kiss and went to stand up, but slipped and tried to hold Dave's tail for support. However, he failed and ended up dragging them both into the water. They landed with different sized splashes, Taylor shrieking in surprise. When they resurfaced, they locked eyes worriedly, but Dave started giggling. His laughter was contagious, and the blonde laughed too.

"You ok?" he giggled. Taylor nodded. "Sorry, honest accident." he chuckled. There was another moment of silence, then they locked lips again. The brunette tilted his head slightly, taking a giant invisible leap to lick at Taylor's lower lip. Gladly, he subconsciously opened his mouth enough to let the latter's tongue explore it.

Dave grunted, wrapping his tail around the human's legs. "D-Dave..." The younger boy whined, "Should we ---?" Just as he went to answer, the sun was almost completely set. "Fuck!" Dave swore, "I gotta go; they'll come looking for me! I'll catch you later, Tay! We'll talk tomorrow, okay?" he called as he started to swim away quickly.

Taylor furrowed his brows, confused as to why he'd been in such a damn hurry. "Okay, see ya later!" he shouted, waving goodbye. "...Davey." He mumbled, blushing a dusty pink. That was going to be his nickname from now on. He groaned as he slowly got out of the water. He was wringing out his hair when he heard...laughter??

Sure enough, there was Rami, laughing and cupping his mouth with a hand. "Wow! Dude, you just kissed a fish guy!!" He taunted. "How'd he taste? Were you guys gonna bang??" Taylor grumbled, just deciding to approach Rami. "Hey, shut up! And he tasted like...fuckin...flowery or something, and salty." He shrugged.

"Riiiight, sure, sure. That's nice. Anyway, have you told him about your career and whatnot?"

"Yeah."

"And?"

"He's cool with it. Just as long as I don't hurt him or his friends. That's his only rule,"

"That guy seemed like he was in a hurry. Why?"

"To be honest? I'm not sure. He said he needed to come back before someone started to look for him."

"You know that if word gets out about you and him, you could both end up getting killed? Probably by the same people?"

"Yeah, and it's a risk we are more than willing to take. Plus, we're keeping it a secret."

Rami chuckled. "Kindergartener! Keeping secrets and whatever! Just tell your folks that you're gay! And while you're at it, make sure to wear a condom while you're bangin.' Wouldn't want a sea STD, now would ya? God, I gotta tell my grandma! She's gonna think this is a hoot!"

Taylor quickly pulled out his pocket knife, pointing the blade at Rami's poor nose. "You will not tell a single fuckin soul, understand me? Not even Nate! Especially not Nate! He'll kill him in a heartbeat! So do me a favor and keep your damn mouth shut!" He snapped.

Rami nodded. "Yessir! I got it, I got it! Now let's get home already. Getting pretty dark." He said, voice somewhat shaky. The two left the docks, casually walking towards home.

Meanwhile, David was swimming as fast as he could to get to the reef on time. He knew what happened to merpeople at nightfall: they'd become their siren counterparts. Alas, the transformation had already begun --- his skin was turning a dark gray. "No, no!" he wailed, trying to swim faster. His hair and tail turned jet black. "I've gotta find my mom!" he cried out in a double-layered voice. His voice sounded mostly the same, but it was raspier and had more of a hiss to it.

Grey webbed fins began to protrude from his upper arms as a large one came from his back. He gasped and knew what was next: he'd transform completely and lose his humanity. His teeth became sharp, fine little fangs; nails were becoming long black claws, and eyes going completely ruby red. He hissed ferociously, looking for his first target.

After not finding one readily within range, he surfaced to go hunt for one. His red vision caught sight of a dark-haired male walking next to...a familiar person of sorts? No matter, he'd eat them both.
