English below Die Berichterstattung in Europa zeigt sich grenzenlos rassistisch: Flüchtende Menschen aus dem globalen Süden oder Middle East werden gegen andere ausgespielt und ihre Fluchtursachen und ihr Recht auf Schutz ausgeblendet, offen mit der Begründung, es seien keine „zivilisierten Kulturen“ oder „Menschen mit blauen Augen und blonden Haaren“. Auf Kanälen wie ZDF, BBC und in Sendungen wie „hart aber fair“ werden gezielt Vergleiche aufgezogen, die eine Spaltung in „gute“ und „schlechte“, in „verdienende“ und „nicht-verdienende“ flüchtende Menschen konstruiert. Dadurch wird neokoloniales Gedankengut weiterhin verbreitet und die öffentliche Wahrnehmung stark gelenkt. [Eine „weitere Flüchtlingswelle“ würde sich anbahnen, die allerdings nur „muslimisch aussehende Männer“ beschreibt.] Jetzt wird deutlicher denn je, wie nicht-weiße Menschen auf der Flucht kriminalisiert und illegalisiert werden! Während Ukrainer*innen die Möglichkeit haben, Grenzen zu passieren, werden Schwarze Menschen zurückgedrängt, werden Menschen aus Middle East nur eine Grenze weiter dem Tod überlassen, werden Menschen in Kroatien, auf dem Mittelmeer und an weiteren Grenzen gepushbackt. Niemand tritt eine Flucht aus Vergnügen an! Hier ist der Ort, an dem wir beginnen müssen das Leid an den EU-Außengrenzen zu beenden - angefangen mit einer Analyse und Skandalisierung der Berichterstattung. Wenn kein Unterschied zwischen Menschen gemacht werden soll, muss die Ausgangssituation sein, dass Bewegungsfreiheit und Schutz für ALLE gewährt ist! Die Bundesregierung und die @dbahn treffen hier Entscheidungen für sichere Fluchtwege mit kostenfreien Bahnfahrten, legalen Einreisen und sofortigem dreijährigen Schutz ohne(!) Asylverfahren. General Election 2017: Vote for Policy, not Personality

This was the front page of the Telegraph today, talking about how Labour's leaked manifesto wants to 'take Britain back to the 1970s'. Skipping past the irony that the Brexit supporting Telegraph is referring to the last decade in which Britain was not in the EU, this rhetoric is false, and at best, unhelpful.

Labour's headline policies are a lot more popular than people think (link 1). To chew on nationalised rail, I was recently travelling on Spanish National Rail (Renfe) at 386kmh on my way from Madrid to Barcelona, watching the on train movie using my complimentary headphones from my spacious, comfy seat, sometimes distracting myself with the free wifi. Hardly 1970s. 

74% of our railways are already run by the state rail of other countries (link 2), while pretty much every country in Western Europe has a nationalised rail system that is much faster, better and cheaper than ours, for example Dbahn in Germany, Renfe in Spain, Abellio in Holland.

We face a very critical decision about the future of our country, that will decide how it goes through one of the biggest changes in our lifetimes and possibly whether we even remain as the United Kingdom.

Let's not allow spin and propaganda to decide something as important as this upcoming election. We should read the manifestos, look at the evidence and then vote for policy, not personality.
