The Walking Dead AU
Hi everyone ! Hope you’re all doing well ! Here is another update for the TWD au... Thank you for your support, even though I’m not really active lately. I’m always so happy to come back here and post something, even if it’s not much. I progressed a little on my comic, it had been a while ! I have something like 7 parts left to draw... Anyway ! Thank you for your patience and your support <3
Surprisingly I really love this au, and I’m kinda proud of the character development I’ve done here. Hope you’ll enjoy this update !
They went through a building infested with walkers with experimented ease. Outside, snow was starting to cover asphalt and concrete with a soft white coat. Winter was setting in, as they probably approached the end of the year : now they couldn't just camp outside, because of the cold and the weather, so everyday, way before the sun started declining, they had to look for a shelter. Getting closer to buildings and former residential areas meant they would come across more undeads… and eventually other humans.
Connor was afraid Hank and Cole would try to help or talk to anyone unwarily, but the two less experienced survivors seemed to have learnt a few things in the past months. They had spotted a group of people running away from an alerting number of walkers, but neither Hank nor Cole had said a word about helping them. Instead, they profited from the other group's misfortune to move forward unnoticed.
That night, as per usual, they had found an abandoned house and barricaded themselves in one room with a wood stove. Days were becoming shorter and shorter, which meant nights were getting longer everyday. They had found a few board games or cards that could keep them entertained, and it was a new ritual for Cole to ask for a game after dinner.
Then he would read a little or listen to some music -they had found piles for the walkman- and finally fall asleep, leaving the two adults alone for a couple more hours.
Hank : We have to stay here for a moment. We're getting short on food supplies, and hunting will become harder, now it's winter. We need to go check for food around the neighborhood.
Connor : Alright. Hank : … I'm sorry, I know you want to find your brother quickly but… Connor: No Hank, you're right. Food is our number 1 priority now, and it's only the beginning of the season.  Hank : … Man, winter sucks in the after world. Connor : Hm… what a shame. It was my favorite season before. Hank : Why ? Connor : I love when shops get their Christmas decorations, the lights, the ugly sweaters, mulled wine, hot waffles, the sound you make when you walk in the snow. Hank : … Yeah you're right. Ugly sweaters are something. But the cold ? Your feet are always damp, your nose always red. The damn car that won't start. And Christmas carols, I really can't stand them. Connor : … I'm gonna miss the Christmas Market. And Thanksgiving. It must almost be Thanksgiving.  Hank : … Hey, don't think about it. We should try to sleep too.
Hank didn't really move from his place on the floor, only grabbing his blanket and taking his shoes and coat off.
Connor : You're not sleeping on the couch? Hank : No thanks. Almost sure it's full of worms from what I've seen. Connor : Ugh. You're going to be cold if you sleep on the ground. Plus you gave Cole your sleeping bag... Hank : Right. I had forgotten about that. Connor : … You know, we could share this futon. Guaranteed wormless, I checked.
Hank let out a low, husky laugh, but finally moved in his direction. He shaked his blanket over Connor and himself, covering them together.
Hank : Thanks, Con.
It took a few more minutes for them to find the best positions. The futon that had seemed quite huge to Connor when he was sitting on it all alone looked a lot smaller now that Hank was lying by his side. They had little to no room to move, or they would soon be stuck to each other. Hank was lying on his side, facing the wood stove and Cole. Connor was lying on his back, staring blankly at the ceiling, detailing in his head the cracks and the spots of mold. He soon decided it was too distressing and turned on his most comfortable side, his eyes now fixed on the back of Hank's grey sweater.
They slowly fell asleep.
_________________
Hank woke up in the middle of the night, not sure of what had taken him out of dreamland : he could still see bribes of his old house, Cole's last birthday party, his laughs and excitement as he was opening his presents. Weird enough, the neighbor who let them in her bunker months ago was there too. And so was Connor, giving Cole a serrated knife. Back in the past, Hank would have freaked out if his boy was being offered a knife on his birthday, but in his dream, he was very happy to know Cole had a good weapon with him. He had come to Connor to thank him for the thoughtful gift, and had given him a piece of that delicious cake : the young man seemed happy.
Usually, Hank was woken up by the sensation of cold gripping his body because the fire was dying, or the sinister howling of winter wind in the holes of the buildings. This time, it was none of these : he was buried under his blanket, on a mattress, Connor's warmth radiating in his back, the room had the windows and the doors sealed with old towels and cardboards. The wood stove was still running hot for the three of them. Everything was quiet.
Connor : Hmmh…
Almost.
Hank turned on his back slowly, realizing Connor was a lot closer than when they had fallen asleep. The young man had probably slowly slided in this position, attracted to the hollow created in the futon by the Lieutenant's heavy frame. Connor moved in his sleep, growled, and threw his left arm and leg over Hank's body. He was squeezing him tight, tighter than Hank would have expected him to be capable of in his sleep. Boy, what a strong grip he had ! The grey haired man could now feel Connor's contours against his own body, the shape of him filling the smallest gaps between them.
Hank's right arm was getting numb from the tight hug, he proceeded to take it out of the grip to cover the younger one's shoulders softly : now, Connor's cheek was resting against Hank's breast, his left arm locked over his belly. For a moment, the former police lieutenant thought that being one of those big Teddy bears from funfairs must feel like this more often than not.
But then Connor let out a small whimper, along with a lascivious move from his hips. Uh-oh.
Connor : Hhhmm… Please…
Hank hated that his first thought was to wonder who Connor was dreaming about. Bad, bad horny brain, he told himself, blushing furiously. The younger man was unmistakably hard against his thigh, and his skin felt so hot through his clothes. He was rocking his hips almost lazily, his breath heavy, grabbing Hank's chest with a naughty hand.
What the actual fuck.
Hank didn't move - only his hand reflexively squeezed Connor's shoulder, because he was only human. He didn't even know how to breathe now, only exhaling and inhaling mechanically, shakily, as Connor was keeping his lustful rippling.
The brunette was moving languidly, letting out a few growls of contentment here or there. It wasn't frantic, or needy, it was soft, reminding Hank of lazy morning sex he had had in the past : the slow, warm, idle moments of tenderness before leaving for work. He wanted that. He wanted that with Connor.
The movements slowed down and died with a last satisfied sigh from the young man. He buried his face against Hank's chest, squeezing him tight for a few seconds before relaxing. The silence in the room was heavy, and Hank couldn't even think straight, his eyes staring fixedly at the dark ceiling. The revelation hurt : his panicking heartbeat, the heat invading his chest and the final realization that, yes, he wanted more with him …
He couldn't ruin the precious dynamic they had. Connor was his friend before everything else, and Cole wouldn't bear it if the brunette decided to leave just because Hank couldn't keep it in his pants. No, he wouldn't ruin anything.
With this said, Hank closed his eyes.
________________
They spent the next few days checking out the area to find more food before walking to the next town. The task was becoming harder and harder with time, as other survivors were converging to the same places to resupply: most of the shops were totally empty by now, giving the three humans no other choice than to look out for anything useful in the numerous houses. One in particular seemed interesting: wood planks were screwed all over the doors and windows, leaving only one way in, a window on the second floor.
Connor : I'll go check. Hank : You sure ? I mean, you'd have to climb on that tree and walk on the roof… I'll go.
Connor : No offense but look at the house. If you step on it you'll break through the floor. Cole could walk on it but he's too short to get up there. Leaves only one option.
Hank : What tells me you're not gonna pass through the floor too ? Connor : If I do, will you come help me ? Hank : Of course… Connor : Alright then. I'm going.
The young man started climbing the fence, then the tree. Hank and Cole watched him worriedly : after all, the last time Connor had been on a tree, it didn't exactly end well. After a few minutes, he finally got to the open window and with a smile and a wave, he slid inside. Hank sighed, both in relief and exasperation.
Hank : What a stubborn kid !!! Cole : … Dad ? Hank : Hm ? Cole : Do you like him ? Hank : Of course I like him. Don't you? Cole : No, I mean… are you in love ?
The man blinked, replaying the scene in his head, not sure if he had heard correctly. Cole smiled smugly at him -and sure enough the boy was starting to take the brunette's bad habits. That smile was already endearing on Connor's face, but Cole looked adorable, his eyes shining with self confidence.
Cole had always been a shy kid : at school, he definitely wasn't the leader of the band, and had been mocked sometimes by his classmates for being fearful and for seeking adults' help when in difficulty. Since the beginning of their journey, Cole had grown more mature, and had gained in self confidence. Hank was really happy that the whole situation -and Connor- helped Cole on this point.
Hank : What makes you think that? Cole : I started having suspicions when you kissed him on the forehead when he was sick. Hank : … Am I that obvious ? Cole : Why don't you tell him ? Hank : What ? No, it's not happening, pumpkin. I don't want him to run away. We work nice, the three of us, don't you think? Don't wanna ruin that. Cole : Hm…
Cole walked farther, trying to stay balanced as he was stepping on the edge of the pavement.
Hank : It's between you and me, Cole. Don't say a word to Connor, I count on you. Cole : I can keep a secret, I'm not Sheryl.
Sheryl was a girl in his former school. She couldn't keep a secret. Hank wondered what she had become.
Cole : But you know, if Connor runs away from us just because you like him, I don't think he would deserve you anyway.
Hank watched his son thoughtfully for a moment, and smiled at the words : good boy.
_______________
They were only a few hours of walk away from Pittsburgh now, but the sky was dark and cloudy that morning : a snow storm was coming. The little party had found a shelter in one of the nearest houses before they got stuck in the eye of the storm. The wind was shaking all the walls and howling like an angry beast at each gust of snow.
Connor : We're stuck in here now.
Cole : … I'm cold… Hank : The fireplace is sealed… if we light a fire we will die from the smoke. Connor: Take your blankets and sleeping bags and cover yourself at best. Then we'll have to stay really close all night to stay warm.
They did. Hank being bigger, he found himself holding the two younger boys close in his arms, trying to envelop them as much as he could.
Hank : Cole ? You okay ? Cole : Hm-hm… Connor : What about you ? Hank : 'M fine… stay close and we'll get through this.
Connor shifted under the blanket that was covering the three of them together and put his arms around Hank's waist, burying his lips against his neck. His hot breath was blowing on his nape, sending shivers down his spine.
Connor : Hold on, Hank…
The man tightened his grip on the young one, hearing a sigh of satisfaction near his ear. Hank's back was contracted from the cold, but under the blanket, between his strong arms, Connor and Cole were radiating with warmth. Especially Connor.
Connor : I'll keep you warm I promise…
The whispers only sent more shivers in his spine.
__________________
Pittsburgh was infested with walkers : the only safe way through the city was on the rooftops. Most of the time, they could jump from one building to the next one, or get across by walking on a bridge made by other survivors.
Sometimes they had to climb down and cross a road or two, and things could get a lot more dangerous then. They had had a few close calls : Cole was almost caught by a walker hiding under a car. Hank shot the undead without thinking, drawing the attention of all the other creeps around. Herds were the most dangerous thing to get caught in, especially in a city, where it was easy to be trapped. As they were trying to escape, Hank fell down the wooden floor, and they were separated.
Connor and Cole had searched for him the next few days, only to find him again with a hand-made brace on his ankle.
Cole had run and jumped in his arms crying, for the first time in a while. Connor had stood close, watching thoughtfully, not sure if he could hug Hank too. The man opened his eyes again, Cole still tightly pressed against his torso, and motioned his arms towards the younger man, with a relieved smile. The dark-haired man smiled in response and ran in his embrace as well.
Hank : God… I love you… I love you two so much.
Connor hugged him even tighter and Cole's sobs melted with relieved laughter.

18+ ONLY!
Hello! My name is Lo, I’m looking for roleplay partners (:
About Me:
- I’m 21
- Transmasc-nonbinary (he/they pronouns)
- I’m taking a break from college and have a part time job with varying hours, but I should be able to get in a few responses a day at least. I prefer partners that can at least give a response a day, but if you communicate with me about your schedule and/or pace we can make things work!
- I love really anything; Smut, fluff, slowburn, angst, wholesome/lighthearted, dark. I don’t have many triggers or limits, but I’d still like us to discuss any we have before we start. Please always talk to me before throwing a sudden dark twist. Communication is key!
- If you’d prefer to use OCs, I can either send you bios of my current OCs or you can send me one of yours/we can come up with a plot and I can make/choose one to fit.
What I’m Looking For:
- I prefer a minimum of a paragraph for a response, but preferably a few (3rd person, unless I agree otherwise).
- I would love to get to know you outside of rping! I don’t have many friends, and I enjoy getting even the most random of texts. Go ahead and send me fanart, fanfic recs, playlists, edits, and other random thoughts, feelings or things! Pet pictures too pls.
- No ghosting please! We’re both adults, if we don’t like something we can talk it out or say that we no longer are interested.
- I’m willing to dabble both with fandoms and OCs. I love world building and AUs.
- I don’t feel comfortable with rping with minors in general, but most of my rps have at least NSFW undertones/themes at some point. I do like smut, especially paired with angst and certain dynamics, but if that isn’t your thing we can always keep it limited or fade to black.
As for fandoms/ships, I’m interested in any of the following (bolded are characters I’m willing to play):
OFMD:
- Ed/Izzy
- Ed/Stede
- Lucius/Jim (t4t)
- Lucius/Izzy
(Open to poly relationships and/or love triangles!)
HANNIBAL:
- Will/Hannibal
MR. ROBOT
- Tyrell/Elliot
HARRY POTTER:

The Walking Dead AU
Hello everyone ! 😁 Little update about the TWD au ! I hope you'll enjoy this post. I wanted to apologize again for this long semi-hiatus I'm in currently... I may start night working in January, maybe I'll have more time to draw then ? Right now my unit is getting heavier, we're starting to have Covid+ patients again so I don't have a lot of free time and I mostly sleep when I can tbh 😂 Be careful and stay healthy everyone 💕 (I hope I can post something for Christmas and new year)
Hank : Let’s find another way! Connor : … But it will take way too long! Hank : We don’t have a choice… we can’t cross that river with the car. Connor : What if we walk instead ? Hank : Excuse me??? Cole can’t walk all day long at your pace ! Connor : You know, most of the bridges have been destroyed during the first months of the pandemic. Authorities wanted to keep people from propagating the virus, and boom ! They exploded most bridges. The only remaining ones are the biggest, and they’re infested with cars who got caught in traffic jams and creeps who were attracted by the sound of honkings. Hank : … Are you sure we can cross the river here ? That dead tree doesn’t look safe. Connor : Don’t worry, I’ll go first.
Connor started walking on the log, Hank watching him carefully from the shore. Cole had got out of the car and was looking at the young man.
Cole : I don’t like that Dad… Hank : Yeah, me neither.
Connor thought he was doing great, until the dead tree started breaking from his weight and the moisture. The young man slipped into the cold, rushing waters, letting out a surprised cry.
Hank : Shit, Connor !!!
The stream was a lot stronger than it seemed, and Connor had to make his best efforts not to drown. He swam against the stream for a few seconds before realizing he wouldn’t make it to the riverbank. He used his last strength to grip a bunch of boulders and keep himself from being taken away by the river. His friend was leaning in his direction, offering his big callous hand to him.
Hank : Hold on Con, here I am…
The man helped him out of the freezing water, holding him still as Connor was gagging and coughing from the water he had swallowed. His legs were shaking, and Connor was sure it wasn’t from the cold : he had had his biggest scare in a long time.
Hank : Look, I know you want to find your brother faster, but we have to be careful. We’ll camp here tonight and tomorrow we’ll follow the riverbank and find somewhere safe to cross it. Cole : Connor you’re shaking !!! I’ll light a fire !!! Connor : T-T-Thank y-y-you… Hank : Jesus you’re freezing to death… take your clothes off.
Connor obeyed without thinking, Hank giving him a helping hand since he was too shaky to be totally efficient in his movements. Cole was a real camping expert now, he could light a fire in a few minutes and keep it going for long hours. Since food cans were getting rare, Hank had decided to start hunting small game, he had learned how to with his own father a long time ago. It took him some time to readjust his knowledge but he eventually did it. The father and the son were becoming real survivors with time. Soon enough, they wouldn’t need Connor anymore.
The thought pinched the man’s heart, as Hank was wrapping him in a dry blanket.
Hank : Your lips are blue… Are you okay ? Connor : … C-C-Cold… Hank : Of course you are, why don’t you ever listen to me?
Connor closed his eyes, savoring the warmth of Hank’s hand in his nape : hopefully, the grey haired man would blame his shivers and goosebumps on the cold water. Hank opened the blanket to get himself inside. The brune didn’t say a word while the other man was holding them together, and tried not to think too hard about the fact he was stuck against Hank, his bare, wet skin brushing over the warm cotton of his t-shirt.
Cole got closer, seemingly worried.
Cole : Are you okay, Connor, your face is red… Connor : Must be the cold… Hank : Cole, would you open a food can and put it on the fire while I warm Connor up ? Cole : Sure !
Connor sighed in relief when the boy ran away. He started looking intently at the fire, trying to ignore everything else : the last thing he wanted was to embarrass himself with a boner as he was sharing a manly hug with his friend. And it was working. He was even starting to stop shaking.
Hank : You okay ? Connor : Hm-hm… Hank : Good.
The man left the cozy cover of the blanket to pick up Connor’s clothes from the ground. He started hanging them out on the nearby branches.
Hank : It’s cold today, and night is falling. I don’t think your clothes will be dry tomorrow.  Connor : We’ll see.
_________________
In the end, his clothes were still cold and damp when he put them back the next day. Connor suppressed a shiver, and the little party started walking down the river, trying to find a fording to access the opposite bank.
They had to empty the car, and now Hank’s backpack was even bigger than Connor’s. Even Cole was carrying his own sleeping bag, and even though they were walking at a steady pace, the boy was not complaining. He had turned down his dad’s offer to carry him at the end of the day. “I’m too old to be carried!” He had said, trotting a few steps away from the adults.
Hank slowed down to walk at Connor’s height, sighing: Teenage rebellion already ? But he’s still a baby…
Connor : … He’s tougher than you think. Hank: … Hey, you okay ? Connor : Huh-huh…
Hank grabbed his wrist, forcing him to stop walking. Cole had noticed and was standing still a few feet away, looking at them silently. Connor only blinked, trying to adjust the focus on his friend while he was touching his forehead with the back of his hand.
Hank looked alarmed : You’re burning hot. Cole : What’s going on ? Hank : Connor’s sick. Cole : Huh ?
Connor shivered, too bothered by a torturing stomachache to pretend he wasn’t. He had been walking on automatic pilot for hours now, hoping to get miraculously better. Being sick was a bad thing in that world : the littlest cold could be the death of the toughest survivors.
Hank : Let’s stop for now. Cole, light a fire, I’ll put the barbed wire around the camp. Connor, you sit down and you rest.
_________________
Connor didn’t remember much after that. He was pretty sure he had passed out a few times, returning to consciousness only to see Hank giving him some water, or helping him not to collapse as he was throwing up. How much time had passed ? Hours ? Days ? He couldn’t tell.
Hank : We need medicine.
He had woken up at the exact moment Hank had said those words : his whole body was hurting, his mouth was dry, his stomach painfully empty, and still, he was feeling sick at the sheer idea of eating.
Cole : Where ? Hank, pointing at the map: This is the nearest town. Might be 2 or 3 hours away. Cole, leaving Connor alone, even for a few hours, is too dangerous. In this state he can’t defend himself. Cole : … I’ll stay with him dad. I’ll protect him.
Connor would have cried if he could. He didn’t want to die. Nines… Nines was waiting for him. He blinked and saw Hank’s massive shoulders leaning to him. In the mist of his feverish mind, Connor finally locked his eyes to the Lieutenant’s cold blue stare.
Connor : Wait …
It was all he could manage, his voice was husky, low like a whisper. Hank smiled and leaned down, dropping a tender kiss on Connor’s forehead.
Hank : Hold on. I’ll be back soon.
Cole had taken his father’s place the next time Connor opened his eyes. He was standing, aiming his gun at something in the dark. An inhuman growl helped the former student guess out what it was : a walker. Adrenalin gave him enough strength to straighten on his elbows. He felt dizzy, his head was so heavy.
Connor : Cole, be care… be careful…
He reached for his own gun, and felt weak when he noticed how heavy it was.
Cole was immobile, pointing his weapon at the Walker who was stumbling in their direction. And despite his best efforts, Connor couldn’t aim. A gunshot, muted by the silencer, finally rang out in the dark forest, and the walker collapsed.
The young man dropped his weapon and Cole quickly turned towards him.
Cole : Connor ?? What are you doing ?? Connor : The creep… Cole : … Relax, Connor. I’m taking care of them. Connor : … You shot it ? Cole : Hm-hm… Now keep your strength, Dad must be on his way back.
_______________
Hank came back with antibiotics, his sweater covered with blood, and with the pills, it took Connor a few days to get better. He was still feeling weak on his legs, but he wasn’t feverish anymore, and could eat again.
On the third day, Connor woke up early, and he was feeling great : no stomach ache, no dizzy head or nausea. He was feeling so well he decided he would take care of cooking breakfast. He rekindled the fire with some dry wood and put some water to a boil in the saucepan. He decided to go check around the camp, deeper in the forest. He spotted a walker, and eliminated it fast with his machete : a few feet away, a little tent was pitched up. Connor made sure no one else was around, and approached stealthily. A raccoon jumped out of the tent, confirming the man’s suspicions : he opened the shelter, covering his nose and shaking his head to deter the flies away. There was a dead body inside.
Connor rummaged through the stuff, finding a warm vest that would suit Hank’s broad shoulders, a pair of gloves. A few comics and books Cole didn’t have. A blanket, more food cans, water bottles, ammo and a hunting rifle. He was about to leave when a glimmer of light caught his attention. Glass ? A bottle ?
Whisky. Connor smiled. He would give it to Hank whenever they’d be safe. He packed everything up and went back to the camp.
Cole : Connor ! Good morning ! Connor : Hello buddy. How are you ? Cole : ’M good ! And you seem to have recovered too. Connor : I feel great today, guess I’m cured. Hank : Good to hear. Connor : Hi Hank. Did you sleep well ? Hank : Hm-hm. Nice to see you back on your feet. We can keep going now. Connor : Yep.
Hank stood up from his sleeping bag, stretching and scratching his beard. He then came closer with a smile, ruffling the young man’s hair with his big palm. Connor welcomed the affective gesture with a soft laugh that died in his throat when Hank leaned down to drop a kiss on his forehead. Connor gave him a confused look.
Hank : I’m just happy you made it through.
Connor’s heart jumped furiously in his chest, leaving him silent and incredulous as Hank was already walking away.

The Walking Dead/Detroit Become Human AU
(so basically I was tempted to make a post to apologize about the mess my blog has become lately - feels like I’m posting AUs, artworks, sketches and comic updates in such a chaotic way… I’m really sorry about it ahaha 😅 Hopefully it will get better soon)
So this post is me drawing for hours and forgetting to eat on my break day (I finally did !!! Don’t worry ahaha) because I became obsessed with an idea again. Also I like to make concept arts and storyboards as if I was working on a professional project for a TV show/animation. I find it fascinating ! This time I don’t really have any plot or finished story, I just wanted to draw these scenes badly so… I just did.
I’d like to draw your attention to Connor’s curly hair and Hank’s design (strongly inspired by Kristoff from Frozen). I just LOVE these details.
⚠️Remember this is NOT a new series. Just me having fun with characters and a universe I like (aka The Walking Dead) !
Anyway, more ideas below 👀
*POW*
Hank open his eye again. The walker was shot in the head. Hank pushes the walker away, it falls dead on the concrete.
Looking up, he sees Connor with a gun.
Hank : Jesus… Thank you.  I thought I was…
Connor : I wouldn’t have wasted a bullet for you if it wasn’t for your kid back there. Your car, does it work? Hank : … Yeah… I just… I was looking for some gas when… well… Can I drive you somewhere? Connor : Not really, I’m looking for someone.
___________________________
Hank and Cole are walking in a gas station with jerricans and pour what’s left of gas from the pump.
Cole : Dad, that mister from earlier, do you think he’s gonna be okay ? Hank : I think, pumpkin. He was the one helping us. Cole : Being alone sounds dangerous… He should have come with us. Hank : …

It’s nighttime, Cole is sleeping in the backseats with a blanket, Hank is sleeping in the driver seat. He wakes up brutally as he hears something tapping softly against the car window : the young man from earlier. He rolls the window down.
Hank : You ? Connor : I’ve looked around the whole city. Now it’s too dark… I need a safe place to have some sleep, I was thinking you could let me in. You owe me after all. Hank : … Yeah sure. Get in.
Connor gets in the car. He takes his bag off and keeps it by his side, out of Hank’s reach. He takes his coat off but keeps a gun near him. Hank stares at him with narrowed eyes.
Hank : … You’re safe here, really. You can trust me. Connor : Sorry, but I only trust myself.
___________________________
It’s dark outside, Hank can’t really sleep with the stranger next to him. His guts dictate him to stay alert. He watches carefully as Connor turns his head to him, half-opening his eyes.
Connor: Can’t sleep ? Hank : … Well you were right… I don’t know you. What about you ? Did you sleep a little ? Connor : … No. I’m too… cautious. My brain won’t let me sleep with a stranger next to me. Hank : … My name’s Hank. You ? Connor : What the hell are you doing ? Hank : We agreed we couldn’t sleep next to strangers. I’m introducing myself. Connor : It won’t make it any better… *after a silence* I’m Connor. Hank : Nice to meet you. Connor: … Where were you before ? You… you act like a newborn in this hell… Hank : … I had a neighbor with one of those bunkers… with tons of food, water, enough to live for months. We… We were hiding there with her until… until a few weeks. Connor : What happened ? Hank : She thought she had heard a chopper. Thought someone was out there to rescue us… she opened the hatch and she was… attacked by those things… Connor: … the kid… he’s yours? Hank : Yeah… Cole. Connor: … Where’s her mom ? Hank : He’s never known her. Connor: Sorry.  Hank : Don’t be.
*silence*
Hank : I think… I’m starting to relax… we should try to sleep huh ?
Connor is already sleeping.
___________________________
Connor takes his backpack as Hank and Cole take a breakfast with some fire.
Hank : You sure you don’t want to eat anything ? Connor : No thanks, I have my own stock. You should save your food for your kid. Hank : … Hey, if you ever need to find us… after you’ve found what  you’re looking for, I have a police radio. Frequency 58,7 kHz. Connor: I won’t need it but- thanks. Good luck.
Connor leaves.
___________________________
Cole : What should we do now? Hank : … We need to find more food… and weapons. I’ll go downtown today. You… You’ll stay here alright? Cole : No I… I want to stay with you… Hank : I know you’re scared Cole… But it’s too dangerous. You’ll be safe hidden in the car. Cole : You’ll be quick? Hank : Back before sunset, pinky swear.
___________________________
Hank finds an axe on a bar counter.
Suddenly : *BONG BONG BONG BONG*
Hank : What the-
He runs outside and hides against a wall as walkers pass nearby, heading to the source of the ringing.
He looks up and sees Connor climbing on a ladder but a Walker is trying to grab his leg.
Hank comes and kills the monster. Connor : You..! Follow me !
On the rooftop, they see the church. It’s an automatic bell, the walkers are massively getting around the building. There is something painted on the wall that says “Find Jericho” with black paint and scribbled under it “Find 9s”
Connor : Nines… Hank : What is Jericho ? Connor : … A safe place for survivors. It’s hidden… to keep the thieves and killers away. Hank : … The church. Connor : What ? Hank : Jericho, it has to do with the bible. The message is written on a church’s wall. It’s not a coincidence, there might be… a hint in there. Connor : … But we can’t get inside with those creeps around… Hank : … Maybe they leave when the church stops ringing the bells. Connor : Or maybe we should try to lead them away with… Hank : With what ? Connor : … Your car.
___________________________
Connor : So, let me get it straight. You drive around the town honking. It will attract the creeps away from the church. I get inside the church and look for any kind of hint. When the bells start ringing I get out before the creeps come back. And what do we do with Cole ?
Hank : He’s going with you. I don’t want to have him in the car with hundreds of undeads trying to get me. Connor : … I don’t- Hank : Don’t worry. He’s a smart kid. He will do as you say. Right Cole? Cole : …Hmm. Connor: … Fine. Let’s do it.
___________________________
Connor and Cole sneak into the church. Connor kills two of the Walkers still inside the church as Cole follows him cautiously.
Cole : … Look. *he points out a book on the altar* Connor : … It’s a bible… The chapter about the Battle of Jericho… it can’t be a coincidence. *They look up and see something written with old blood on the wall behind the altar. It says “Rahab the harlot defied the King of Jericho. Here lies the key to the fortress.”* Cole : What’s a harlot? Connor : … You should… ask your father. Now… I have to read… and think. Cole : … We only have one hour left before the bells ring again… Connor : I know.
___________________________
Connor : … I don’t get it ! There must be something I’m missing ! Cole : … Connor, I found a map ! Connor : Not now Cole, I’m trying to focus… Cole : Connor, look ! Connor : Cole please I really need-…
Cole shows him the map… there is a “9s” written on it.
Connor : Nines ! Cole : Does it help ? Connor : … I don’t know-…
The bells ring suddenly.
Connor : Crap… we have to get out of here. Give me your hand, buddy.
___________________________
Hank is waiting for them : he has lit a fire and when Cole sees him, he lets go of Connor’s hand and runs to hug his dad.
Hank : I gotcha, pumpkin. *looking up at Connor* Did you find something ? Connor : I think…  Hank : You think ? Connor : I have this map my brother left for me inside the church… there was some kind of riddle on the wall, and it must have something to do with this but… there is nothing noted on it. Hank : What’s the riddle ? Connor : “Rahab the harlot defied the King of Jericho, here lies the key to the fortress.” Rahab was a prostitute, she helped Joshua by hiding spies he sent inside the city… and Joshua spared her when he took the fortress. But I… I don’t see the connection. Hank : … Let me see the map.
Connor gives it. Cole sits next to his father, near the fire, and soon falls asleep. After some time thinking and overthinking it, Hank finally points to a town on the map. A city called Defiance.
Hank : Look. Connor : Defiance… Of course. The key lies in Rahab’s defiance… Defiance is a town… Fuck- You’re a genius…! Hank : Man, I was feeling like a Detective again… felt nice for a moment. Connor: You were a Detective? Hank : A police Lieutenant, to be specific. But yeah. Detective works too. Connor : … I don’t think the treasure hunt is done yet. You’re gonna need your supercop sense again ! Hank : … It’s good to see you all excited. Feels like meeting the real Connor under the survivor’s shell. Connor: It’s nice… that Cole and you don’t have that shell yet… humanity is a rare thing to find down there. Hank : … So, who is “Nines” ? Connor : My little brother. We lived together, in the same group of survivors. Our camp was attacked… we got separated. Hank : Looks like he’s smart. He solved the riddle all by himself. It took the two of us to understand the hint. Connor : He’s always been a nerd. Hank : Pffft… Well we should try to get some sleep. We should be able to reach Stoneton, then we’ll have to find more gas.
Hank gets up and carries Cole to the car seats.
Connor: … Hank…? Hank : Yup ? Connor : Can I… Can I come with you two ? I could go to Defiance by myself but… if you’re heading there too, maybe we could… Hank : What the heck ? Of course you’re coming with us. With our two half-brains we’re gonna need each other’s help to find Jericho and your brother, don’t you think ? Connor *chuckles* : Right.

The Walking Dead AU
Hello everyone, I'm just passing by and dropping this here, just in case any of you is still interested in this story. Enjoy 💕
They were driving for days now, and might get to Defiance in a few more days now. In the meantime, Connor explained some handy tips to survive outside to his new partner. Some very useful advice Hank was happy to take.
That day, they camped near the car. Some food cans were heating above the fire. Cole jumped out of the bushes, running to Connor who was sitting quietly -Hank’s asleep a bit farther, and Connor keeps the fire going with a wood stick.
Cole : Connor, look ! *holds a frog* Connor : Wow ! How did you catch it ?! Cole : Hehe, that’s a secret ! Connor : We could eat it ! Cole : What ??? Hugh ! No one eats frogs ! Connor : You know, it tastes like chicken ! Cole : … N-No way ?! Connor : I swear ! Cole : You’re lying! Dad, does frog taste like chicken ? Connor : … Your dad’s tired buddy. Come on, I’ll show you how to gut it then we will grill it. Your dad’s gonna have a good surprise when he wakes up !
Hank woke up to the delicious smell of grilled meat : he straightened with a grunt, stretching lazily. His back was sore, the driver seat was broken which made all those long hours on the road more painful than he would like to admit. Connor did offer to drive a little but the former Lieutenant was too busy trying to look tough to really consider the proposition. Maybe he would let Connor drive next time.
Next thing he noticed was that Connor and Cole were together by the fire, he could hear his son’s curious voice from where he was. He smiled. Connor did know his way with the kid : not that Cole was a difficult boy, but most young adults of Connor’s age didn’t really know how to interact with children on a daily basis. Somehow, the young man was really getting along with his little one. Hank stood up and came closer to the fire.
Hank : Smells good, what did you two find ? Cole : I found a frog ! Connor showed me how to take the guts out and cut the legs ! Don’t you think it smells like chicken ? Hank : Connor showed you what ?
As Hank doesn’t respond, Connor looks up, worry shadowing his face for a short moment.
Connor : I should not have ? Hank : … I… I don’t know… Connor : It’s important to know how to prepare a wild animal properly, Hank. Don’t be upset. Hank : I’m not upset… I just- I don’t know if Cole should know how to kill an animal at his age.
A cold silence fell down on the three of them, until Cole felt brave enough to talk again.
Cole : Are you mad at us ? Hank : … No pumpkin I’m not. But I’m surprised you even wanted to learn how to gut an animal. Cole : … Well, Connor wanted me to kill it at first but I couldn’t. He said the frog didn’t suffer. And that I have to learn because in this world, it’s kill or be killed. Hank turns to Connor, this time visibly upset : … Okay, just- Why the hell would you tell him that ??? Connor : Because it’s true. Hank : I don’t want my child to think there is no other choice than to kill to survive ! Connor : That’s just the way it is. I’m trying to help ! Cole needs to get tougher or…
Hank stands up brutally, leaning forward onto the younger survivor. Connor can’t help but gulp as he meets the threatening gaze of his road trip partner.
Hank : … Cole, we’re going in the car. Cole : …
The boy gave an apologetic look at the young man, following his father silently.
Connor looked at them as they locked themselves into the car with two of the warm food cans : then his gaze wandered in front of him, meeting the grilled frog roasting nicely on the embers. He swallowed, feeling his throat tightening, and took the meat, then ate it.
As soon as he finished, he packed his belongings and left without a word, not even looking at the older man and his son, sleeping in the car.
_______________________
Cole : Dad !
Hank opened his eyes instantly when he heard his boy’s voice from outside the vehicle. He bursted out of the driver seat, ignoring his sore back as he looked around, trying to localize his son. Cole was standing by the dead fire, seemingly confused.
Hank : What happened, Cole ? Are you okay ? Cole : … Yeah I am… but Connor…
Hank felt his heart racing when Connor’s name echoed in his ears.
Hank : Connor what ? Where is he ? Cole : His bag isn’t there, dad… I think… I think he left ! Hank :… Why would he do that ? Cole : … Dad, you’ve been too mean to him yesterday ! After all the effort we put into making you some good grilled meat, you got mad at him ! I’m sure he left because of you !!!
Hank blinked twice hearing his son’s angry voice : the boy was frowning, visibly tense and accusatory. With this expression on his face, he reminded Hank of his deceased wife. She had the same frowning stare when Hank was acting like an idiot, and Cole definitely took that from her side. Now the man was still certain he didn’t want Cole to learn his way to survive was to kill the others, but maybe he did go a little strong on the young man.
Hank : … Let’s pack everything up and go back driving. We know where Connor is going, we will find him walking on the road, I’m sure of it. Cole : … I hope he’s okay. He doesn’t deserve to be alone, dad. Hank : … I know sweetheart… I’ve been stupid.
________
Hank had had a good intuition, as it only took him one hour of driving to finally distinguish a human figure with a big backpack walking on the side of the road. He slowed down, rolling the window open so Connor could hear him.
Hank : Connor ! Connor : … What do you want ? Hank : Why did you leave? Connor : Seems obvious. I’m a bad influence for Cole, so I left. Hank : … You’re not— Listen Connor… Hey, will you stop walking???
Connor finally stops, facing Hank with crossed arms when the man gets out of the car to talk to him.
Hank : I still think Cole shouldn’t grow up thinking this world is kill or be killed.  Connor : … I just wanted to give him some advice. I wanted him to be wary… because a lot of shit happened here. He can’t go around and trust anybody. Creeps are a threat, but most humans are too, now. I… I wanted to protect him. Hank : … I know. Come here.
Hank takes Connor in a manly hug, and squeezes him even tighter when he feels the younger one’s face burying itself against his chest.
Hank : !
Cole gets out of the car and joins in the hug, trying to comfort the young man.
Hank : You have us now, Connor. Don’t just leave us like this.
__________
The next riddle was actually partly solved by Cole : as they had finally reached Defiance, they decided to go for a walk downtown, to look for new hints. Creepers were mostly gathered around the police station, probably because a lot of unlucky people had tried to break into it to steal weapons from the safe, only to trigger the security alarm eventually. Hank and Connor had decided they wouldn’t even try to go there : too dangerous for a few weapons. What they needed most was ammo, and maybe more knives.
They had looked for “Rahab” everywhere, but it seemed like there wasn’t any living soul left in the town. Rahab being a prostitute in the bible, they had tried to look around the “hot” block of the city. Hank had been careful to keep Cole’s eyes occupied with one of his favorite comic books while he helped Connor look through the miscellaneous items strewn on the ground of the nightclub.
He couldn’t help but notice that the younger man had looked at a poster of nude young people dancing a little longer than necessary. The sight only made Hank sigh for himself : poor Connor, it must be hard to be young in this world. He started thinking about Cole. Would he ever find a partner, someone to love and share his life with? The internal question made him feel a bit sad.
At the end of the day, Connor would barely talk : they still had no clue of where to go to find Jericho, and by extension, his brother.
Hank : We should settle down for the night. It’s too late to go back to the car, let’s just find a shelter in one of those buildings… Cole : … Dad, I think I’ve found “Rahab” ? Hank : What ?
The boy points to a building behind them, an old, abandoned yoga school called “SHRADDHA  BLISS” as one could guess from the dark marks on the wall. The name of the place used to be written in metallic, probably neon letters, but many of those letters had fallen down with time and lack of maintenance. Now the only remaining ones were miraculously forming the name “Rahab”.
The three survivors entered the building warily: even if this place was meant to hide the next hint deep within, they needed to be careful. The main room was totally empty, only the remains of old campfires, proving people had come there before.
Cole : … Hey Dad, look, tons of yoga mats! You won’t have to sleep on the floor tonight, it should help with the backache! Hank : … it’s nice to take care of me like this, pumpkin. Why don’t you install the camp and rest a little?
The boy nodded enthusiastically and ran away to start piling up yoga mats to make comfortable beds.
Connor was still silent and tense, looking scrupulously at every wall to find a new hint.
Hank : Connor, we’re good, we found the right place. We will have a better look at the other rooms tomorrow. For tonight, let’s eat and rest, we deserved it. Connor : … You’re right, I just… I miss my brother. He must be so lonely without me. Hank : Maybe he found his own crew, just like you. Connor : … Nines is not like me. He doesn't… open to others easily… Hank : That means you open up easily? Boy, what that must be with your brother !
Connor chuckles halfheartedly at the joke, but finally meets Hank’s eyes.
Connor : Sorry, I’m being selfish again. Cole really had a smart idea, he deserves some praise tonight. Let’s go eat.
________________
Cole was definitely dreaming already when Hank decided he would bring up the private topic that was haunting him for hours :
Hank : Did you have a girlfriend before ? Or boyfriend ? Or do you still have one, I don’t know?
Connor looked up at him, slightly confused by the question.
Connor: Why would you ask that ? Hank : … I saw you looking at that poster earlier… Made me wonder if you had a lover. Connor : … I’ve had… many relationships yeah. But nothing close to a lover. Hank : … Never ever ? Connor shrugs : I was in love once,  but it didn’t end up as I expected. Since then I’m just… cautious not to get infatuated with some guy only to be disappointed in the end. Hank : … How sad. Connor : Not really. I had tons of sex. Good sex. Sex is fun. Hank : It’s funnier with someone you actually love, from my experience. Connor : … Did you have a girlfriend? After your wife… you know. Hank : I’ve tried… when Cole was very young. I wasn’t sure I could raise him alone, you know. But… It didn’t work out. Most of the time my partners were interested in me but not in my family life. Cole was a burden or worse, an obstacle for the relationship they wanted with me. I realized it was hurting me more than it was helping me. I decided I would focus on Cole, to give him the love of two persons since he would only have… well, me.
Hank feels his cheeks warming up as he meets his friend’s smooth black eyes, and absent-minded smile. Everything in his expression was screaming for caresses, and the older man actually wanted to touch his silky cheekbones and jawline from the tip of his dry, hard hands. He had never noticed Connor’s handsomeness before, or maybe he did, but this time, the realization had a whole new taste to it.
Connor : That’s funny.
Something in the way he was talking sounded like purrs. Hank’s mouth had gone dry from the sheer sound of it. He cleared his throat.
Hank : Really ? Connor : The guys I was dating… didn’t want me to have anything to do with their family, especially their children. I was a hobby until they got another wife. It’s funny that you were looking for the perfect opposite.  Hank : … Decent guys introduce you to their family, at some point, you know. Connor : … Decent guys go out with decent guys. I’m not their type.
_________________
Connor had woken up early, too eager to start working on the next riddle to sleep any more. Since Cole was awake too and needed to go pee, they left the room on tiptoes. Connor took one last look at Hank, still knocked out into oblivion, before closing the door behind him. They explored the building together, until they found the bathroom.
Cole, opening a tap : Connor look, water’s still running !
Connor heard the boy’s voice like a distant echo, his stare wandering on the broken mirrors, looking distractedly at his own reflection : Don’t drink it.
Cole : Uh-uh ! Hey, Connor, the showers must work too ! Dad would love to take a sho- AHHH !!!
Connor snapped out of his contemplation hearing Cole’s scream.
Connor : Cole !!!
He ran in his direction, finding him against a wall, legs trembling. Inside the shower, a walker was growling weakly : water had made his body swollen and inconsistent, it definitely couldn’t walk anymore because its limbs were too flabby to carry him. It was trying to crawl to the two humans like some desperate, dying slug. Cole was hiding behind him, shaking with fear , but Connor couldn’t help finding the creep a bit pathetic : that thing didn’t represent the slightest threat in that state.
Connor : It’s alright Cole. It can barely move, see ?
Cole looked up, terror tantalizing his face, tears cascading down his pale face.
Cole : I-I’m scared !!! Connor : Come on buddy, let’s go back to your dad. I’ll come back and finish it later.
________________
When Hank wakes up, he finds Connor sitting with Cole’s head on his laps, his fingers caressing the boy’s hair distractedly. The sight first lights a warm feeling of tenderness in his chest, but soon enough, he hears Cole’s muffled sobs. He jumps out of the yoga mats.
Hank : Cole ?! Coles : Dad..!
The boy ignored Connor’s comforting touch and jumped into the older man’s big arms. Hank just squeezed him tightly, confused.
Hank : What, are you hurt ??? Connor : He’s okay. We visited the house this morning and Cole found a creep in the showers, he got scared. I think it’s the first time he sees one this close… Hank : … Oh Cole…
Connor stood up.
Connor : I’ve been boiling some water for breakfast, I’ve found some tea in the house. Can you get something to eat? I’ll go back in the showers and take care of the creep. Hank : Are you sure it’s safe ? Connor : Don’t worry.
________________
Cole was feeling a bit better by the end of the morning. Connor had found a few toys and comics while foraging in the neighborhood, he had even found an old Walkman but didn’t find any battery to make it work. Cole was still happy with the new things his friend had found for him, and had started playing with the toys -even though he was a bit too old for those… Hank guessed it wouldn’t hurt him to go back in time for a few hours.
The Lieutenant had been cleaning the yoga house all day : there were a few walkers hiding here and there, most of them were stuck under furniture or lacked a leg, so they weren’t a real threat anyway. But after Cole’s good scare that very morning, he wanted to make his son feel safe. He had even taken the bodies outside, cleaned the bathroom and opened as many windows as possible to get rid of the smell. They all needed a good shower, and he had nothing better to do while Connor was out and Cole was playing.
When the young man came back with some welcomed food supplies, Hank had given the bathroom a new life : no one could have imagined that an undead was creeping out of the stall a few hours earlier. Connor blinked in awe seeing that.
“I didn’t know you were such a perfect homemaker,” Connor had chuckled.
Hank had had some time to look around the other rooms too and had something interesting to show the young man.
One room in particular, was unique in the building. It was a room, average in surface, with all the walls painted in reddish ocre. Huge pieces of shredded woven linen were hanging all over the place, making a strange maze inside the room. There were rests of candles everywhere on the ground, and at the very back of the room, resting against the wall, was rising a huge, golden statue with four arms. One of the hands is offering to them, and seems covered in wax.
Connor : … Your lighter, Hank. Hank : Sure.
Hank lights it and Connor takes a candle on the ground to fire it.
He places the candle on the statue’s hand, and light invades the room, projecting the fabrics’ shadows on the orange walls. Suddenly, the torn clothes were forming lines, two dots of light, and a bigger spot of light was illuminating the northern part of a drawn compass rose.
Hank : What the… Connor : I don’t know who founded Jericho… but they sure want their city to remain a secret place. What are we supposed to do with that ? Hank : … I think that’s a map… Connor : … A map ? Wait a minute…
Connor takes his map out and pins him on the wall, the shapes of fabric projecting on his back and now on the paper too.
Connor : That red dot must be Defiance…
He lined up the city on the map with the red dot on the wall, then tried a few different positions before the shadows matched perfectly with the darker lines picturing big roads on the map. The second light dot was now shining on another city.
Hank : Pittsburgh. Northern Pittsburgh? Connor : That’s it, Hank… We solved it…!
Hank looked directly at Connor’s bright eyes for a moment. The warm, flickering light of the candle was giving his black stare a golden, adoring shimmer that made the man’s heart pound loudly against his ribcage.
Hank : We solved it.
He had repeated Connor’s words without thinking about it, absorbed by the divine vision that was playing before his incredulous glare. The younger one looked back at him, something playing in his eyes that Hank couldn’t decipher : he let the map fall down on the wooden floor and jumped into Hank’s arms.
Connor : Thank you… Thank you so much…
Hank’s heart was beating fast. Too fast for a guy hugging a simple friend. Too fast for a single, devoted dad. Too fast. Words were crammed and scrambled inside his mind but seemed to melt on his tongue. What the hell.
"Connor" was all he managed to say, and the younger boy only squeezed him even tighter.
What. The. Hell.
