Omar nominated for fencing in the Paris Olympics 2024

Last week the UAE Olympic committee nominated Omar in Year 13 to be on the Olympic fencing team, in preparation for the Paris Olympics in 2024. He will be training more intensely and following the Olympic training programme from now onwards in order to qualify for the Olympic games.

Himakshi, Dream for Earth Ambassador

Monday 4th October was an exciting day for Himakshi in Y11, who was asked to be a ‘Dream for Earth Ambassador’ and spoke at the official opening of the Dream for Earth Exhibition in the Swedish Pavilion of Expo 2020.  

Himakshi collaborated with @HackforEarth1 , @UN_UAE and @expo2020se to speak about the 17 Sustainable Development Goals and her dream for earth:

A - Action and all working together

R - Responsibility for our actions

T - Thoughtful about what we do

H - Harmony - join hands and come together for a united cause

STEM enthusiast Aadi develops a seizure detection band

Aadi in Year 10 has been a coding enthusiast since the age of 7 and a couple of years ago developed the Grocery Catalog App followed by a drone that takes selfies and a movie rating predictor program.  In November 2019, Aadi had a seizure which led him and his parents into looking for a seizure detecting device.  However, all products were expensive which led him to working on developing his own product.  The low cost seizure detection band will send an SMS with the location coordinates (via GPS) to a pre-configured number.  Aadi has developed two prototypes and intends to apply for a patent for his product.  He is then intending to work with charitable organisations to distribute these bands free of cost for the needy.  Well done Aadi, a true inspiration. #dcproud

Ovi took the Stanley Cup on a Vegas party tour. Follow along as Washington’s captain takes Lord Stanley on a journey.

The Washington Capitals had the D.C. area rocking on Thursday night, after winning the first Stanley Cup in franchise history. But the Capitals’ fans, who waited years for this moment, weren’t as lit as their captain, Alexander Ovechkin. The Conn Smythe winner was turning up in Vegas with the Cup by his side the whole time.

World Triathlon Para Cup in Portugal

Congratulations to Michael Salisbury who represented GB in the World Triathlon Para Cup, in Alhandra, Portugal.

This photo shows the face of a fierce competitor who after a sprint finish managed to run the fastest time of the day across all ambulant categories.

Mchael placed 5th overall in the PTS5 paratriathlon classification despite a difficult swim, where he veered off course due to poor visibility and choppy water, costing him valuable time.

Michael was delighted with his result and the experience. He finished higher than he’d expected despite the poor swim and was pleased with how his bike time compared to the rest of the field.

He will be spending the winter trying to work on his relative areas of weakness, but hopefully he has strengthened his chances of being selected for further events.

Michael was selected to compete having previously won gold at both the British Paratriathlon Championships and the British Triathlon Grand Final within his classification this summer. #dcproud
