You should include variety in shape, colour and size. Think about adding #plants with long vines, Large family pictures, #baskets, #art or other knick knacks. . . 𝚆𝚘𝚛𝚔 𝚍𝚒𝚊𝚐𝚘𝚗𝚊𝚕𝚕𝚢 : It is visually appealing to have lines that you can follow. By working diagonally you will not only achieve this but it’s also a good rule to work in variety in a natural looking way. . .𝙳𝚘𝚗’𝚝 𝚐𝚎𝚝 𝚝𝚘𝚘 𝚌𝚛𝚘𝚠𝚍𝚎𝚍 : I really enjoy the packet bookshelf look, but only if looks are the only things you have on #display . If you want to incorporate other objects you need to allow everything to have room to breathe. . . 𝚃𝚞𝚛𝚗 𝙱𝚘𝚘𝚔𝚜 𝚘𝚗 𝚝𝚑𝚎𝚒𝚛 𝚜𝚒𝚍𝚎 : Turning books on their side will help with variety and white space. You can follow the diagonal rule to make this seem natural and not forced. This is also a good way to break up a crowded bookshelf even if you are not adding on other #objects . . .𝙲𝚘𝚕𝚘𝚞𝚛 𝙲𝚘𝚍𝚎 : If you really like #colours or think your room need a bit of pop, try colour coding your books or your other items. It is a great way to make a display out of things you already own like a piece of art. . . 𝙰 𝚂𝚢𝚖𝚖𝚎𝚝𝚛𝚒𝚌 : Don’t try to be too #symmetric with your display. It can seem cold and unnatural. . .𝚃𝚞𝚛𝚗𝚜 𝚢𝚘𝚞𝚛 𝚋𝚘𝚘𝚔𝚜 𝚊𝚛𝚘𝚞𝚗𝚍 : Now this may seem really odd to you.. But this is a two fold idea.
