@hoardingmuses​‘s reply has awakened my muse for her. Their poor Mettaton! He’s doing his best with the kid. Could be worse: she once held up a switchblade to @animaliamuses‘s Deltarune Asgore. She eventually grew to like him enough to pretend to be sick just to stay in his shop.

She’s extremely stubborn, but there is hope, oh Mettaton. There’s hope she’ll warm up to ya!

This Undyne has a life that isn’t so fortunate compared to the other teenage fishies. This kid has trust issues from moving from one foster family to the other. Unlike the other Undynes, she puts up a tough and distant façade borne from fear. Truthfully, she craves real connections, a real family, and a stable life as all foster kids do. But, as her history taught her, those things don't last long. Of all the verses and AUs, she is the most lawless and volatile fish.

Undyne has lost count of how many times she relocated homes. It started at 5 years old. She was placed in a temporary home when her parents went missing. They were shortly proclaimed dead. Thus beginning her cycle through the foster caring system.

Her current home is a wealthy human family consisting of two parents and two older teenage daughters. The adults are often at work and their kids have their own schedules outside the home. Though she has plenty of new clothes and lots of food to eat, "They're never around,” according to Undyne. It’s not helping with the sense of isolation she feels.

Undyne’s current foster family is making space in her room for another (foster?) child. This absolutely agitates the fish.

The only thing Undyne likes about going to school is P.E. class. Her grades are too low to participate in school extracurricular activities... though she would very much benefit from letting off steam by doing competitive sports.

This fish is weak! Her lack of involvement in sports and her previous homes’ malnourishing diet has left her scrawny. She makes up for it by making the knife her weapon of choice and has better control over shadowmelding than the other AU fishies.

Don’t be too worried about the knife. Much of her actions are driven by fear, and one of those fears is the thought of resorting to actually killing someone. It’s more about putting up a front of fearlessness because all she wants to do is survive.

Undyne is friends with Sugar, who... isn't her best influence.

This fishy stupidly attempted to steal a horse from the town's biggest rodeo star, Annie. She made a deal with the fellow teen to work at her ranch in exchange for not getting arrested.

Asgore is Dad-shaped to her! He is the only person who currently treats her like she imagines an actual loving parent would treat their kids.

Really, she's going to need lots and lots of patience and commitment if you're going to reach her in any positive way.

Rowdy approaches the kiddo and hands her a really nice purple scarf. It's a bit tattered but it still looks good enough to wear. "I want you to have that."

Despite its worn look, the scarf is comfy, like a warm hug. Undyne presses her face against it.

Uh oh. Looks like the fishy got swept up by the excitement of it all!

At the end of the rodeo, Undyne didn’t run off as Annie expected. She stood there, arms folded, waiting for Annie to exit the arena.

Oh shit. Anything but the fuckin’ COPS! Undyne had never been arrested, and she sure as hell wasn’t gonna let it happen now! The fish began to gnaw at the rope with her sharp piranha teeth to break free.

“NGRRHH!! Where is she?!” Undyne and Sugar were supposed to meet at their usual spot behind the library to hang out. But fifteen minutes was TOO LONG of a wait for this fish.

Undyne had left home after dinner, when every member of her foster family retreated to their rooms to mind their own business. She learned quickly that then was the best time to sneak out undiscovered.

If Undyne was a “normal kid,” she’d send an SMS message to her friend to see what was up. But nooo, she hasn’t “earned the privilege” of owning one yet. Going to Sugar’s home and chucking pebbles at her window was the next best thing.

She scooped up a pebble in each hand, one after another, and threw them while peering from behind a bush. Tic-tic-tic-tic. That sound oughtta annoy Sugar enough to get her to come out!

And she’d better come out soon, or else the big fat rock next to her foot was going to be the next thing that’ll fly towards Sugar’s window!!

"Burgerpants, there seems to be a child here." Mettaton looked at the feral seeming child taking the food behind the set. He sighed into the phone as he pulled it in front of him, "no I don't want you to call security, if I wanted that I could have called them myself! No, I want you to bring more food! And be sharp about it or I will bring this to consideration on your next paycheck." Hanging up, Mettaton fought back a groan and put on his best smile, and crouched down to the child.

"You're not in any trouble, darling. Come, what's your name?" He asked, voice softening as he pulled out a chair and sat near the child but not too close. - From Mettaton to Unadopted AU

Undyne was caught red-handed. With one webbed hand, she lifted the edge of her shirt to make a makeshift kangaroo basket. The other hand scooped chips, cookies, chicken strips, and French fries into one greasy heap. The shirt was already bulging with junk food.

Wasn’t the area of this film set empty? Wasn’t the film crew busy preening the stuck up star for whatever-crapfest-he-was-filming-this-year? She should have been able to get away with sneaking off with these snacks EASILY!

It was only until the sound of the barely-audible phone call broke her concentration. She paused.

... ... ...

Aww, fuck it. She resumed grabbing a handful of tiny yogurt bottles at the edge of the table. She was gonna grab as much from this crafts table come hell or high water!

The robot man stopped her in her tracks when he pulled a chair up near her. This guy was... really gonna talk to her? ...even try to convince her she’s not in trouble??

Very funny. He’s pulling her leg. It was an obvious trap to let her guard down.

The fish’s next line of defense?: be as annoying as possible.

“Why'd you wanna know?” she sneered at the question. “Who the hell's asking???”

Stuck-up guy couldn’t stand the idea of somebody not know who he is, Undyne’d bet. Oh boy did she want those words to get under his metallic skin!

Asgore had suddenly pushed Undyne onto the ground. It left her lying on her side and Asgore on his hands and knees, hovering above her like a shield.

“You DUMB-ASS!” she huffed out. “I TOLD YOU I don’t need your help. I can take care of MY---” The sight of red staining the side of his torn t-shirt stopped her mid-sentence. He must have cut up his back really badly…

“What... happened...?” she stared in shock.
