As musical artists and cultural icons in their own right, Swizz Beatz and Alicia Keys share a philosophy when it comes to their personal art collection: “artists supporting artists.” This approach has led the Deans to bring together a group of multigenerational, Black diasporic giants of the art world. In this exhibition, see the work of over 100 of these giants, including Gordon Parks, Kehinde Wiley (@kehindewiley), Hassan Hajjaj (@hassanhajjaj_larache), Barkley L. Derrick Adams’ exhibitions at Hudson River Museum have been extended and will be on view when the museum reopens to the public on July 25th! His permanent artwork at the LIRR Nostrand Av Station in Brooklyn is always on view.

Repost from @luxembourgdayan - Back in February 2020, Derrick Adams @derrickadamsny unveiled his public art installation “Around the Way” (2019) commissioned by @mtaartsdesign. His 85 laminated glass panels span the platforms of the LIRR’s Nostrand Avenue Station @mtalirr, just blocks away from the artist’s studio in Brooklyn, NY. “Around the Way” inaugurates the rehabilitation of the subway station, now outfitted with two ADA-accessible elevators, while celebrating the symbiotic relationship between neighborhood residents and their cityscape. Adams explains, “As a longtime resident, I was inspired to create this work as a response to the vibrant cultural surroundings and diverse population which I see in motion on a daily basis. The figures fuse with architecture and nature as a representation of the progressive impact left by generations of growth. These hybrid structures represent the many important components which reside together to form a thriving community.”⁣

Since its debut, “Around the Way” has assumed unexpected significance as an installation that can viewed outdoors during the pandemic—perhaps providing some comfort to essential service workers and others on their daily routes. ⁣
