Erik Brandt, 2017. Honored to be participating in Orgasm Addict Reframed during Design Manchester to help celebrate the 40th anniversary of Malcolm Garrett's classic design for this legendary single. It's impossible to make something better than the original, but I'm chuffed, chuffed I say, with being asked to play along nonetheless. Contributions to the exhibition were displayed during DM17.  Many thanks to the curators DR.ME, Ryan Doyle and Mark Edwards, for their kind invitation.

I mentioned RAT PARK @designmcr but was running low on time so skipped the full info- SOOO Rat Park was a study into drug addiction conducted in the late 1970s by Canadian psychologist Bruce K. Alexander and his colleagues inCanada 🇨🇦the short version is they had a RAT alone in a cage with a drug laced water bottle and a plain old water-water bottle. The rat goes nom nom nommm and totally gets F*ct up on the drugs. DONE the scientists HI five-given the choice rats love drugs!BUT no someone thought hmmm they are all on own, in a cage and bored so they try again-this time the cage if full of cool rat stuff, friend rats, sexy friend rats, toys, snacks... tiny rat cigars (ok not the cigars) and this time they are all MEHHH about the drug bottle & play with their mates/sexy mates... all happy. They realised that addiction was not a simple it's there take it, but far more complicated, it's wrapped into the way we feel, isolated, alone even bored we fill the void with drugs, booze ... social media- look it up there's some interesting takes that go far deeper than my fleeting description above... so #DM17 that's RAT PARK as promised #designmanchester #design #addiction #lettering #typography #rats

So I recently took part in Art Battle Manchester, which was a terrifying but awesome experience at the old London Road Fire Station. 10 artists paint live in front of over 500 people in a 30 minute battle against the clock, great fun!
