 - Serval graduated from New Zealand’s Media Design School and has been hitting it strong ever since. Raised in a family steeped in the art scene, his works are inspired by deliciously vibrant colours infused with his unique view on environments and personalities. His live paintings and murals are a playful part of his repertoire and set the scene for some of Auckland’s hippest restaurants and bars. I personally have met serval, before I knew he was on the art scene, and love the digital elements and “eye candy flair” his work has. The bright colours and digitally draw subject matter draws in the viewer, as well as his busy designs. He creates this work for advertising brands like Kiss Kiss, Swift, Love exposure, Splore, Adidas, Vice, Britomart group, Brothers beer and the Auckland council. Due to the fact that he creates work for brands and advertising, I think he is a very relevant artist model to get inspiration from, not only because his colours and busy, digitally drawn subject matter, but he creates this work FOR advertising, and this is what I want my work to reflect and critique. I also love the use of neon lights in Love exposures sign, which is something else Im planning to work with to follow the theme of advertisements.

For my 25th birthday my dad made me a “Happy Quarter Century” 4x scale quarter medallion. The medallion has the correct number of ridges and the quarter in the center is from the year of my birth. He also made the box and stand.
