he’s  a  detective,  billy’s  an  undercover  cop  kind  of  it’s  complicated.  he  went  through  police  training,  at  least.  plus,  they’re  both  closest  to  their  mothers  (  both  their  dads  are  dead,  &  billy’s  mother  dies  pretty  early  on  in  film  canon,  so  he  doesn’t  have  any  family  left  ),  &  they’re  both  at  heart  Good  People,  so  i  think  there’s  a  natural  amicability  there  .  .  .  depending  on  how  deep  billy  is  into  the  undercover  shtick  at  the  time  ‘cause  he  quickly  becomes  a  (  rightfully  so  )  paranoid  little  fuck.  plus  if  jae-hwan  is  in  the  violent  crimes  division,  costello’s  little  gang  (  of  which  billy  is  a  part  )   could  feasibly  perhaps  fall  under  that.

                     one of my favorite tropes is the criminal / authority figure. very angsty and i love the chase. this one’s good cause they got history and jae-hwan has been chasing ray forever. this is my fave, ty.

jae-hwan finds vi to be a wonderful person. not only do they have fun together, but jae-hwan sees vi as someone he can trust. jae-hwan's sunshine personality means that he loves vi deeply. this could be friendly or romantic — anything is possible with these two. jae-hwan also thinks that vi is talented and amazing. he's in awe constantly, and he supports vi in all of his endeavors. he's the one that comes to class with vi and sits behind the kids on the carpet and listens. he thinks vi is lovely, and he'll tell him in any way that he can. when vi is having a bad day, jae-hwan is there with him. he'll tell vi just how amazing he is, in the kindest tone possible. vi is very important to jae-hwan, and he's so happy to know him and be around him. he's the sunbeam to vi's change of the tides. jae-hwan couldn't think of a better person.

in my experience, following my heart only ended up getting me into trouble. and i had had enough experience to back up the hypothesis. i wanted to smile at him, say something as optimistic and bright as he seemed to be, but it was hard.
