My friend Katherine gave Gus a robot duo that she said her son Silas would never use recently. We've downloaded a corresponding app that lets him do some basic coding that results in the robot following Gus's commands. It really is cool. Anyway, tonight Gus worked on a thank you card for Katherine that said, "Thank you for Dash and Dot," which are the robots' names. I was blown away at Gus's handwriting. I thought Mom had helped him write the words, but she didn't. Also, his drawing of the robots was impressive. He's a very smart boy. I found myself at the table, staring at him in awe. I can't believe he's so capable already. I said, "Gus, do you know how proud of you I am?"
And without missing a beat, he said, "So, so proud."
Which made me even prouder.

Magnus still isn't sleeping. Mom and I are exhausted. And we think she's catching the cold that you two have had. Luckily, Magnus had a well-child doctor's appointment scheduled for today anyway, so we just made that appointment a sick-child appointment.
Also, worth noting, Magnus has begun stringing two words together: "Mama, no." And he's doing this thing where he gets the remote, points to the TV and says, "Elmo!" over and over.
I took this picture when I got home because I liked looking up as I walked toward the house and seeing Mom in the window.

i feel like i'm a better person than i give myself credit for but i'm also not the person other people seem to think i am and i don't know if it's because i'm unwilling to compromise and coexist with other human beings or if i just don't have the right parts to align with most other people's edges and never will except as a performance
