Veronica Lake was prominent in films during the 1940s and became a fav for Diane Haughton (Aaliyah’s mother) growing up.
In the mid 90’s as Aaliyah was reinventing her signature style in music and fashion for her sophomore album, Diane suggested that Aaliyah style her hair like Miss Lake because the hair over the eye gave off a sense of mystique and sex appeal.
Aaliyah would then adopt this style as her own signature look. It’s said that even when Aaliyah checked into hotels, she’d use the name “Veronica Lake”.
Veronica Lake passed away in 1973 at the age of 51.

A continuation of my post about the names of Ever After High parents. I felt the urge to give names to all of Justine’s sisters. I followed the theme of “dance”, since their family story is The 12 Dancing Princesses and it’s stated in the wiki how each of Justine’s sister specialize in different kinds of dance. Some are also named after famous dancers irl. Their names are in no particular order.
Diane Dancer (“heavenly, divine”) + Havilah Charming (Hebrew, “to dance”)
Minuet Dancer - ballroom dance; a slow and stately court dance that was popular in 18th century France.
Allemande Dancer - “German dance”, folk dance; an elaborate court dance from 16th century Germany.
Baila Dancer - Spanish “dance”; tango and flamenco (No real reason for her name other than I thought it was interesting and matched the other two.)
Calypso Dancer - Greek “she who hides”; a fun and upbeat style of dance and music that originated in Trinidad and Tobago during the 19th century and was spread to the Caribbean Antilles and Venezuela. Also Calypso Rose.
Ciara Dancer - Irish “saint” or “dark”; Irish step, Ciara Sexton, a World champion Irish dancer who was the lead in Lord of the Dance and Riverdance.
Josephine Dancer - Hebrew “shall grow”; tap dance, Josephine Baker was a famous African-American dancer who gained fame in France for her *ahem* provocative shows.
Katherine Dancer - “pure”; jazz, Katherine Dunham was an African-American who saw success in European theater in the 20th century and directed her own dance company for many years.
Lindy Dancer - German variation of Belinda “pretty one”; Swing, the Lindy Hop is a popular swing dance that was born in 1920s New York among African American communities.
Loie Dancer - “understanding”, Contemporary; Loie Fuller was a pioneer in modern dance and theatrical lightning techniques.
Martha Dancer - “the lady”; Modern, Martha Graham was a modern dancer and choreographer whose style, the Graham Technique, reshaped American dance.
Aaliyah Dancer - Arabic “highborn, exalted, sublime”; Hip Hop, Aaliyah Dana Haughton known mononymously as Aaliyah, was an American singer, actress, dancer, and model.
Justine Dancer - “fair, just”, ballet (I think her name is literally a play on the words “Just Dance.”)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY 🎂 TO YOU
IN HEAVEN
A SHINING & BRIGHT YOUNG STAR 🌟 WHO WAS GONE TOO SOON
SHE WAS A BRIGHT LIGHT & A MUSICAL GENUIS OF R&B
Born in Brooklyn and raised in Detroit
Aaliyah Dana Haughton was born on January 16, 1979, in Brooklyn, New York City, New York, the younger child of Diane and Michael "Miguel" Haughton, a warehouse worker. She was of African-American descent. Her name is the feminine form of the Arabic "Ali", meaning "highest, most exalted one, the best." Aaliyah was fond of her name, calling it "beautiful" and saying she was "very proud of it" and strove to live up to her name every day.
She first gained recognition at the age of 10, when she appeared on the television show Star Search and performed in concert alongside Gladys Knight. At the age of 12, She signed with Jive Records and her uncle Barry Hankerson's Blackground Records. Hankerson introduced her to R. Kelly, who became her mentor, as well as lead songwriter and producer of her debut album, Age Ain't Nothing but a Number (1994). The album sold three million copies in the United States and was certified double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). After allegations of an illegal marriage with Kelly, She ended her contract with Jive and signed with Atlantic Records.
She was an American singer and actress. She has been credited with helping to redefine contemporary R&B, pop, and hip hop, earning her the nicknames the "Princess of R&B" and "Queen of Urban Pop".
She worked with record producers Timbaland and Missy Elliott for her second album, One in a Million (1996), which sold three million copies in the United States and more than eight million copies worldwide. In 2000, She made her acting debut in the film Romeo Must Die. She contributed to the film's soundtrack, which was supported by her single "Try Again". The song topped the Billboard Hot 100 solely through airplay, becoming the first in the chart's history to do so. After completing the film, She subsequently filmed her starring role in Queen of the Damned (which was released posthumously), and in July 2001, released her eponymous third album, which topped the Billboard 200. The album spawned the singles "Rock the Boat", "More Than Woman", and "We Need a Resolution" (featuring Timbaland).
On August 25, 2001, at the age of 22, She was killed in an airplane accident in the Bahamas along with eight other people on board, when the overloaded aircraft she was traveling in crashed shortly after takeoff. The pilot was later found to have traces of cocaine and alcohol in his body and was not qualified to fly the aircraft designated for the flight. Her family filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the aircraft's operator, which was settled out of court. In the decades following her death, Her music has continued to achieve commercial success, aided by several posthumous releases. She has sold 8.1 million albums in the US and an estimated 24 to 32 million albums worldwide. Billboard lists her as the tenth most successful female R&B artist of the past 25 years, and the 27th most successful in history. Her accolades include three American Music Awards and two MTV VMAs, along with five Grammy Award nominations.
PLEASE WISH THIS RISING YOUNG BRIGHT STAR 🌟 OF A MUSIC 🎶 ARTIST 🎨 & ACTRESS
