'Reely and Truly' - a short film on photography (Director's Cut)

. Dick Jewell Dick Jewell is an artist / film-maker and active as a camera man in both the fashion and music industries. He has also published threebooks, Found Photos (1991) Hysteric Glamour ( 2001) and Four Thousand Threads (2015). His first solo exhibition was at the Chapter Arts Centre in Cardiff in1980 soon followed by group shows at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam and the Serpentine Gallery in London. In the 80ʼs he ran a record label in London called PRE, releasing and designing the works of artists such as Gregory Isaacs and Prince Far I. Dick also involved and worked with the promotion of artists such as Neneh Cherry and Massive Attack. His films have screened at the Raindance and Commonwealth Film Festivals in the UK, and in art galleries including in recent years the Venice Biennale, Tate Liverpool, MOMA Sydney, the ICA and the V&A Museum. Selected public collections include Victoria & Albert Museum, The Open University, Stedelijk Museum, Froebel Institute, Newport Museum,Whitworth Art Gallery, Leeds City Art Gallery, Camden Libraries, Dudley Museum, Arts Council of G.B and The Hayward Gallery. This half an hour video was actually really interesting. It's a trailer to a book they are making which doesn't come out until next year but the video makes some intriguing points which I felt were very inspiring, so I made notes throughout the video which will be helpful towards my research report on the truth in photography.

This is a film about photography, and therefore a film about lies. Even the nature of truth, possibly a lie about a lie or a truth about the truth.

All the camera can do is read the light bouncing off something.

I like these areas of misunderstanding, they're where the fun happens.

I see it therefore it is real and what is real is also true.

It's all in the question not in the answer.
