chan holds your hand as he walks you to your apartment after your date together. you told him he didn't have to drop you off at your door but he insisted, and now you're holding hands in the elevator.
when he reaches your door he doesn't let go of your hand, his fingers gently holding onto yours, like he isn't ready to leave yet. "tonight was fun!", you tell, looking at hi"m and he nods. "it was...and you looked really pretty tonight too", he adds, making you blush. "see you monday?", he prompts and you nod in agreement.
you both stay silent after that, both of you lingering at the door. chan gives you a small smile and you're suddenly thinking that maybe he might kiss you. that's what you've read countless times in the books you'd read and you find yourself getting nervous. but chan just wishes you a goodnight, pecking your cheek as he backs away towards the elevator. you smile and wave him goodbye, a little defeated but you don't mind. you were sure you'd have your first kiss with chan soon.
you cutely wake at him as the elevator door closes before opening your own door and finally entering your apartment. you close your door and remove your shoes, slipping into your house slippers when you hear a knock on your door. confused, you peek through the peephole to see chan. you open the door, suprised.
"chan?", you ask as you open the door, peering up at him. "i forgot something", he says. your furrow your brows confused. "oh um what did you forget?", you ask innocently. "this", he says, his hands going up to cup your cheeks as he leans in, kissing you. your mind goes blank as chan pulls away. you blink up at him, you open your mouth to say something but nothing comes out.
"forgot a goodnight kiss", he says softly. you lean into his touch, glancing down at his lips again. and he wastes no time in capturing your lips in his again, kissing you sweetly and softly and lovingly but also passionately, kissing you breathless almost. when you pull away you swear you can hear your heart beating so hard and fast. "g-goodnight?", you mumble and he smiles. "goodnight love", he replies flashing you his sweet, precious smile. he kisses you once last time before he bids you goodbye once more and you go to bed giddy and happy.

The morning started unusually in the dormitory. The clock read eight o'clock when Daisy, normally radiant and full of energy, crossed the kitchen in complete silence. Her steps were light, but the curious gaze of everyone at the table turned to her, as if something was amiss.
Seungcheol, the group leader, couldn't help but feel concerned as he noticed that something was off with his usually lively friend. "Good morning, Daisy. Are you okay?" he inquired, turning in his chair to examine her more closely. Surprisingly, she didn't respond, just stared at her glass of water.
"Good morning, Daisy?" Seungcheol insisted, raising his voice slightly. The tension at the table was palpable, and everyone awaited a response at that moment.
Daisy finally turned to face him, revealing a tired expression that contrasted drastically with her usually lively nature. Seungcheol, suspicious, questioned, "Did you sleep at home? Were you working out?"
The response came abruptly, surprising everyone at the table. "I would have loved to sleep, but I spent the damn night wide awake," grumbled Daisy, turning abruptly to leave the place. The sound of Seungcheol's fork dropping onto the plate echoed through the room, drawing the attention not only of his friends but also of Daisy herself, as he raised an eyebrow.
The tense atmosphere in the kitchen reached a new level when Seungcheol, unable to contain his concern, stood up abruptly, dragging the chair with him. He approached Daisy, whose eyes were now on the verge of tears.
"What's going on? Where are you coming from?" he asked, demanding answers. Daisy, arms crossed, shot him an accusing look. "Didn't Soonyoung tell you?" she challenged, as Seungcheol turned to Soonyoung for clarification.
"Daisy, please, we talked about this yesterday. Stop being childish. Are you really going to start another fight now?" commented Hoshi, casually chewing his food.
"Childish?" she retorted, raising her voice. "I'm being childish?" Daisy laughed incredulously at the accusation.
Amid the prevailing confusion, Seungcheol, who always valued order, began to lose patience. "Can SOMEONE PLEASE explain what's going on? What do you mean another fight?" he demanded, visibly irritated.
Daisy, feeling exhausted, annoyed, and hungry after a week filled with commitments, could no longer contain her emotions. She shouted, venting all her frustration. "I'm coming from the dance studio because my dear performance team changed the song in the setlist without telling me. I was informed last night, and the change is already in effect for today." Her words hung in the air, laden with tension, as everyone at the table absorbed them.
"Wait, Daisy, have you been rehearsing since yesterday?" Jeonghan asked, surprised, and she nodded. "I warned that changing the song wasn't a good idea."
Jeonghan's prior knowledge triggered an even greater rebellion in Daisy, who felt completely left out. "What? You knew too?" she questioned, indignant.
"Daisy, I've told you we thought you were aware. You're being overly dramatic; it's annoying," Soonyoung commented, trying to downplay the situation.
"How could I be aware if none of you informed me?"
"We barely saw you this week, Daisy. We asked them to inform you," he defended.
Before Daisy could unleash more emotionally charged words, Seungcheol intervened, trying to restore order to the conversation. "Did none of you ask her if she was okay with the change?"
"No, Cheol. Nobody consulted me. The four of them decided without me," Daisy retorted, tears now escaping involuntarily. The combination of tiredness, hunger, and frustration was pushing her to the limit, heightening her irritation.
"Anyway, we were the majority. And we wanted to change the song," justified Soonyoung.
"Why not just remove me from the team then? Since my opinion doesn't matter," Daisy vented, tears now flowing freely. Her vulnerability only intensified the moment, making her even more frustrated with the unfair situation she found herself in.
Seungcheol closed his eyes for a moment, rubbing his head. He couldn't believe that he would have to deal with group problems so early in the morning.
"Enough, it's already sufficient," he said, holding Daisy by the shoulders. "Go rest; we have a flight soon, and you haven't slept yet," he added, trying to convey calmness to his exhausted friend.
As Daisy withdrew to regain her energy, Seungcheol returned to the table, clearing his plate. The impasse had taken away his appetite, and he still had a conversation ahead with the leader of the performance team. "Finish eating and come to the room for a talk," he ordered Hoshi.
Hoshi sat next to Seungcheol, who patiently awaited him. He took a deep breath, feeling the seriousness of the moment. For Hoshi, all the drama seemed unnecessary, considering Daisy's excellence in choreography.
"You know that communication is crucial to making things work, right?" Seungcheol questioned.
"I swear we thought she was aware, hyung," Hoshi replied.
"But she wasn't. She's visibly tired and stressed, and you called her childish and dramatic."
Hoshi took a deep breath, acknowledging his mistakes. "I'll go talk to her."
"No. Let her rest now," the older one said. "But you guys need to consider everyone's situation, not just the majority. We all know how busy she's been with commitments outside the group."
"I know, I understand," Hoshi agreed, lowering his head. "I should have listened to her side."
Seungcheol gave Hoshi two reassuring pats on the back, wanting to show that, despite defending Daisy at that moment, he was there to support Hoshi in whatever was necessary. "Don't handle everything alone. If you find it difficult, just call me. We'll find a solution together."
The impending departure time brought with it the challenging task of waking up the young woman who had spent the night rehearsing the choreography of the song that triggered the entire confusion.
"We need to wake up Daisy," Joshua reminded.
Mingyu volunteered to go there.
Before entering the room, he knocked on the door three times, opening it slowly to carefully check if he wasn't intruding on her privacy. "Daisy," he murmured as he walked in, but she didn't hear.
So, Mingyu crouched down next to her and called her again. She slowly opened her eyes and mumbled words he couldn't understand.
"Sorry for having to wake you up, but we need to go, sweetheart..." he said softly.
She nodded with a sleepy expression. "I'm coming," she said, yawning.
"You need to get up now," he insisted, laughing softly.
Daisy sat up in bed, her face and hair in disarray.
"Alright," Mingyu said, hugging her affectionately. He then informed her that they had let her sleep as much as possible, but now they had only fifteen minutes to leave.
Daisy came downstairs without delays, accompanied by Mingyu, who held her backpack, while everyone breathed a sigh of relief. Still half-asleep, the taller one guided her to the car, laughing when he noticed she was about to lose her balance.
Upon entering the car, DK handed Daisy a coffee and a sandwich he had prepared himself, realizing that she hadn't eaten yet. Although she was without appetite, everyone insisted that she eat. The first bite was enough for her to realize how tasty it was, and in a few minutes, she had devoured everything.
On purpose, Seungcheol had arranged for the members of the performance team to travel in separate cars from Daisy, considering that her energy was not fully recharged.
At the airport, Daisy couldn't hide her mood. Even though she had to wave to several people and appear cheerful in photos and videos, she simply didn't have the enthusiasm for it.
While she and the other members answered questions from fans and paparazzi about how she was doing, she just waved and forced a smile, saying she was fine. Mingyu, attentive the whole time, touched her back in a supportive gesture.
The journey was safe, and Daisy spent the entire time listening to music on her headphones, memorizing the choreography.
In the backstage, before the start of the show, Hoshi attempted to talk to Daisy to resolve the grievances before the performance. However, she didn't want to talk to anyone, not even her dear little brother, Dino.
As the vocal team performed, Daisy's heart raced, especially because she was very anxious and nervous about her team's performance. That's when she was surprised by Minghao, who hugged her without saying a word. The other three members of the performance team also joined them. "Sorry, Daisy, we won't ignore your perspective anymore," said Hoshi, and she accepted the apology.
The members of the hip-hop team, watching from afar, felt proud of their colleagues.
Despite the apprehension about the new song, Daisy was incredible at memorizing choreographies and shone on stage. Even with everything going perfectly, Hoshi promised her that he wouldn't subject her to stresses like that again. The experience, although challenging, served to strengthen the bonds among the group members, highlighting the importance of communication and mutual support.

What started out as an outrageous idea among 13 friends back in 2014, eventually turned into the multi-billion dollar business it is today. One night, on one of their monthly outings, Seungcheol had drunkenly suggested that it would be cool if they went into business together. Initially, that idea was completely shut down by most of the members, because the thought of the 13 of them working together sounded like a recipe for disaster. Besides, all of them had different goals in life, so how would that fit into one business model?
“Listen up! What if…okay, what if we started a company together?”. The table fell silent for a moment, everyone’s eyes on their good friend.
“You’re joking right? That is like the worst idea I’ve ever heard.” Jeonghan laughed, followed by the laughter and affirmations of several of the others. Jihoon, being the only sober one out of the bunch, shook his head before adding to Jeonghan’s previous statement.
“Hyung is right. We will all want to strangle each other before we even have the chance to set anything up.”
Soonyoung, who was located next to Seungcheol and more than drunk enough, grabbed onto his shoulder and let out a giggle. “Hyuuung. Do you want to start a tiger business? I totally have some ideas.”
“Yah! No one in their right mind would want to start a tiger business!” Seungkwan called from the end of the table. With a frown adorning his face and a set of pouty lips, Soonyoung turned his head to argue with the younger man.
“Why not? Tigers are awesome!”
Seungcheol picked up a piece of kimbap and put it inside his mouth to shut him up. If it was up to Soonyoung, he would never stop talking about tigers. “Okay enough, whatever. You guys are no fun. Just keep complaining about your shitty jobs then,” he sighed, deciding to drop the topic for now.
But, ever since Seungcheol’s crazy suggestion, no one was able to fully erase that thought from their mind. While most of them were pretty content with their lives, they couldn’t help but wonder what it would be like to live their dream.
Take Mingyu for instance, who worked as a chef in a small restaurant in town. He wouldn’t necessarily classify himself as the best cook, unlike his friends, who never failed to hype him up. Anyone who tasted Mingyu’s cooking would always want to come back for more. The man really had the ability to make anything taste exceptional. Although cooking for others like this was his passion and he really liked his job, his ideal future was one where he had his own restaurant chain and perhaps even a platform to share his food creations worldwide.
Wonwoo was in a similar situation as Mingyu. He’d always had a passion for computers and videogames, so it wasn’t really a surprise to anyone that Wonwoo had gone into the game developing business. That’s how he ended up as a game developer at a start-up and he genuinely liked it, but of course, the thought of having his own company and being able to bring his ideas to life sounded amazing. However, it also sounded like an impossibility at this stage in his life.
Soonyoung (or Hoshi, a name given to him because of his love for tigers) was also one of the people in the group that turned his passion into his career. His love for dancing and competing followed him into adulthood, which is why he started working for a large dance studio in Seoul, where he gave workshops, taught his choreos and participated in competitions with his students. Though he had pretty much realized his dream, there was always the longing for more, for something bigger, like his own dance studio where he was free to do whatever and however he pleased.
Someone with a similar mindset was Hansol (also known as Vernon), who was as passionate about cats as a person could be. That’s how he ended up getting a paid job at an animal shelter. If it was up to him, he’d adopt all the cats in the world, but his living situation unfortunately didn’t permit him to do so. Instead, he cared for the animals as if they were his children while at the same time trying to help them find their forever homes. Of course this wasn’t the end goal. No, what he really wanted was to start a cat rescue center because there were just too many cats out there that needed his help.
Everyone who knew Chan (or Dino), knew that there were two things in life that he loved most. The first one was a passion that he obviously shared with Soonyoung: dancing. The second and probably more dominant one was literally anything involving movies. Whether it was watching them, analyzing them, discussing them or making them, he loved all of it. It just so happened that he managed to get a job in the movie industry as a set production assistant. Despite that, he’d always felt like something was missing in his life. He didn’t want to be someone’s assistant and he certainly didn’t want to listen to anyone telling him what to do. What did he want then? What he wanted was to call the shots, from the conceptualization to realization of the whole movie. But that was only something he could dream of, right?
Another person with a big passion was Jisoo (or Joshua, as his friends liked to call him), who worked as an English professor at Seoul National University. When he was still a child, he developed an interest in language, both in the sense of learning new languages and learning more about the ins and outs of how humans acquire languages. This interest only grew when he moved from Los Angeles to Seoul, where he took up Korean and finally met his 12 best friends at a social event he’d forced himself to go to. Being exposed to so many different languages, he got inspired and eventually started to dream about establishing a language lab. The thought of being able to contribute to research while at the same time helping people acquire a new language sounded amazing. What was holding him back from doing just that? That was definitely fear of losing his stable job, the uncertainty that came with the territory and more importantly, the fear of failure.
Junhui (or Jun for short) made the big move from China four years ago when he was offered a professorship at Seoul National University’s College of Music. From a young age, his parents realized that he had a talent for music. This showed in the fact that it never really took him long to learn anything when it came to music. Whether it was playing the piano, singing or teaching others about certain musical aspects, he could do it all, which is probably why it was only natural for him to make it his career. He was well-respected in his field and he felt at home in Korea, but he did miss his home country from time to time. His job did not allow him to return often, so he couldn’t deny that he wished he was his own boss sometimes, traveling whenever he wanted to wherever he wanted while still doing what he loved most.
Jun’s childhood friend Minghao, also known by his stage name, The8, followed in his footsteps not long after he’d left China to pursue a career in music. Although Minghao loved music too, his true passion was martial arts. Together with Jun, he started taking classes back when they were children. However, out of the two, he was the one who really took it to the next level. Over the years, he’d acquired a ton of experience and won plenty of matches, and inevitably, he took up teaching to share his skills with others. When he heard about his best friend leaving, he was both upset and happy. Upset because he would be losing his closest friend, but happy about the fact that Jun was chasing a big opportunity. Much to his surprise, it was only about a year later when he got the offer to work for a large martial arts school in Seoul. That was of course a no-brainer, since he got to be closer to his best friend again, and this provided him with the opportunity to gain more exposure for himself. However, that didn’t take away the fact that he dreamed of starting his own fight club someday.
Aside from the ones who somehow had made their passion their work, there were also those who were stuck with office jobs that did not define them at all. It was more of a case of ‘my dreams are unrealistic, so I’ll stick with this job for now’.
One of these people was Jeonghan, who worked as a marketing specialist in a team that consisted of about fifty people. Although he was good at it, he truly hated his job. He would much rather scour through fashion magazines and fabric stores to gather ideas for his next outfit. His friends had often said that he should do something with his talent and share his creations on a platform. Hell, he could even model his own designs, because they were that good. And with his looks, he could easily make it if only he tried. However, it was hard to convince Jeonghan of something that he did not believe in himself. In his words: his dream of starting his own fashion brand would just have to be placed on a back burner for now.
Just like Jeonghan, Jihoon (also known by his alias Woozi) hated his account manager job with a passion. Everybody was way too uptight and obsessed with targets, while all he wanted was to go home and lock himself up in his music room. All his friends and family were aware that Jihoon had a huge talent for music production and everything included in that: lyric writing, composing, arranging, you name it. However, after receiving a couple of rejections from big labels, he began to lose hope and pretty much gave up on his dream. Instead, he chose to spend his free time producing music, while secretly wishing for a life in which he could have his own studio label.
Seungkwan worked as an office administrator for a mid-level company in Seoul. Among his friends, he was known as the moodmaker of the group. He loved to make people laugh and he was really good at it too. Wherever he went, no matter how down people were feeling, he always managed to put a smile on people’s faces. It was truly a gift. This was one of the reasons why he started doing stand-up comedy on Wednesday nights. It gave him the chance to show people his talents and he got to come up with a bunch of jokes and skits. Sure, it was a lot of fun and he loved doing it, but what he really wanted was to reach a bigger audience. He had so many ideas and there was no way that one stand-up comedy night a week was going to keep him satisfied in the long run.
Similarly, Seokmin loved to be on stage, where he was also known as Dokyeom, or DK for short. Not in the way that Seungkwan did, but he loved to act and sing, which is why he joined the local theater club in the first place. However, every time he stepped out of the theater, he was hit with the reality that he wasn’t in the theater business, but just a simple customer service employee who had to deal with people complaining about the most ridiculous things on a daily basis. If it were up to him, and if he had the means for it, he’d quit on the spot and venture into the world of theater like he’d always wanted to do.
And then lastly, there was Seungcheol (or as friends loved to call him: S.Coups), who was completely fed up with his job as a bank manager. Sure, the pay was more than satisfactory and he was well-respected, but he was getting sick and tired of having to be at every beck and call of the higher ups, especially when he didn’t agree with most of their decisions. But who was he to change that? He was just a manager, someone way below them with hardly any power. That’s why he, in a drunken mood, had suggested starting a business with his best friends. If he wanted to live his life the way he wanted to, then he had to step up the game and make some serious changes. Of course he didn’t expect any of his friends to take him up on his idea. At least, that’s what he thought.
Over the few weeks that followed the get-together, Seungcheol would occasionally get a call from one of his friends. Jeonghan was the first one to call, followed by Seokmin, Jihoon, Minghao, Soonyoung and so on, all until every single one of his good friends had contacted him. And what surprised Seungcheol most was that all of them had called about one specific thing: the crazy business idea. Even after the calls, he kept receiving messages with questions related to the matter.
Some wanted to know whether he was actually serious, while others wanted to know how he visualized a business involving all of them, especially since they were all so different. And would they all be in charge or was he going to take up that role? Seungcheol obviously did not have a perfect answer to each question since he was still trying to figure it out himself too. All he knew was that it was time to take it more seriously so that he could bring it up again at the upcoming get-together. And that is exactly what he did.
“So, we’re really going to do this?” Seokmin's voice finally broke the silence in the room. Everyone started looking at each other, anxiously waiting and practically expecting for at least someone to back out while they still could. Only that never happened. Did this mean that everyone really wanted to take this risk? To risk possibly throwing away the good things they already had, only because they were greedy for more?
“I guess we are,” Seungcheol nodded, a determined look taking over his face. Wonwoo, who hadn’t said much the entire evening, suddenly started laughing, his voice echoing through Jun’s crowded living room.
“People will think we’re fucking crazy.”
“At least we’ll be crazy together, Hyung,” Chan grinned from his seat and reached his hand out to lift his beer up.
“Hell yeah! Let’s drink to that!” Mingyu cheered and followed in Chan’s footsteps by holding up his drink. Pretty soon, everyone started lifting up their bottles and cups before toasting to the future. Despite the fact that the future in itself was still pretty uncertain, the most important thing was that they were together, and as long as they believed in their plan, it would work out.
And so SEVENTEEN World was eventually founded on May 26, 2015. As would be expected for any start-up, they went through many hardships to get the company where it is today, the main obstacle being money. Together, the 13 men already had a fair amount saved up, but it was nowhere near enough to realize anything. They would be forced to rely on bank loans and crowdfunding to get their plan started off the ground. So, naturally, the first step was to set up a proper business plan. Well, that was easier said than done. The weeks that followed consisted of numerous meetings, arguments, and even near-mental breakdowns for some of the men. Getting the 13 of them together was already a challenge in itself. Add to that all of their personalities, each with different opinions of what the company should look like and you have a recipe for disaster.
At least one thing everyone could agree on was that Seungcheol should be the one in charge of everything. He just had that natural gift of leadership. In particular when it came to his friends, he always made sure to take everyone’s feelings into account, no matter the situation. That is probably why he’d made it to manager at a large bank in Seoul in the first place.
The more difficult issue at hand, however, was deciding on the company’s concept. Wonwoo, for instance, wanted to take it in a technical direction. Then there was Mingyu, who wanted to have a food theme. Seungkwan and Seokmin wanted to provide entertainment, whereas Vernon went in the complete opposite direction by letting everyone know about his vision for a cat rescue center. There was a moment when Seungcheol got so fed up with everyone’s bickering that he proposed to include all of their ideas into the business model. It seemed to do the trick, because the bickering quickly came to an end, with all men turning their attention to Seungcheol once again.
They finally came to the conclusion that the end goal would be to establish a parent company that would house various other companies, each catering to the specific wants and needs of the 13 friends. Obviously, it wasn’t possible to do everything at once (because that would have been a foolish thought). Preferably, they wanted to start with something that would generate a reasonable amount of money. That’s how they decided on an investment company, because with Seungcheol’s knowledge about the ins and outs of the financial world, it would enable them to generate the funds needed to expand to further businesses. To everyone’s surprise, it was Seungkwan who came up with the idea. He was one of the people with the strongest opinions and usually wasn’t one to easily give up on his vision. But, he, like all his other friends, knew that everyone had to compromise a little bit if they wanted this to work out.
The rest of the months were spent finalizing the business plan and presenting it to various banks, potential investors and anyone that could possibly help them realize their vision. The fact that they persisted in their ventures, even while working their regular jobs on the side, and even when they had already received multiple rejections, was probably what caused them to succeed in the end. Giving up was not an option, even if it meant having to suffer for a little bit. It was actually very fitting for the slogan they had come up with: One dream, One mind, One team – No vision too big. Because really, in their mindsets at the time (and even today), no dream or vision was too big.
Similarly, they wanted the company name to truly represent them, but it proved to be challenging to come up with something both catchy and professional. It was by coincidence that they decided on the name SEVENTEEN World. During one of their monthly get-togethers at Seungkwan’s place, Joshua had suddenly jumped up from his seat and yelled out the name. He went on to explain that the World-part represented their vision of creating a business empire, while the SEVENTEEN concept was derived from there being 13 of them, divided into a total of three nationalities (i.e., Korean, Chinese and American), and them always coming together to form one cohesive group: 13 + 3 + 1 = 17. Everyone immediately agreed that that was the one. It was well-thought-out and the concept behind it perfectly described their team.
Now, fast forwarding to 8 years later, SEVENTEEN World has grown into one of the biggest companies in South Korea. It currently houses a total of 12 companies, each managed by their respective CEOs who, even to this day, still work their butts off to keep their businesses thriving, both nationally and internationally.

Then there is Seungcheol, who isn’t necessarily in charge of any of the enterprises. No, instead, he manages the whole of SEVENTEEN World, a role that he takes very seriously and has pretty much dedicated his life to. In other words, you could say that he was one of the biggest and most important driving forces behind the success of the corporation. He may never want to admit it, but according to the other 12 CEOs, SEVENTEEN World would certainly not have been as prosperous without the blood, sweat and tears that their oldest brother had put in over the years.
Overall, it is fair to say that each one of the 13 CEOs is living their best life. They have more money than they could have ever imagined, they are doing what they love on a daily basis and most importantly, they are able to work together as a team. Plus, they are all so dedicated to their businesses and truly care about their employees, which is probably why SEVENTEEN World has gained so much attention from the public, even to the point where they can’t even walk out the door without being recognized unless they wear a disguise. It’s not like any of the men mind, since being part of the celebrity world does have its perks, but a life in the spotlight also means that finding love is ten times more challenging than for the average person.
