With Christmas period fast approaching I decided to put together a gift guide and maybe give you some suggestion on what is worth spending on that little extra in my eyes.
I checked out quite a few gift guides in the past and they all seemed very similar to one another. They all have specific price brackets that show different gifts in each of the brackets. Being me, I decided to take an alternative approach and maybe show you a wider variety of options.
Let me know if you like this format as I have a similar thing in mind specifically for him… All the gift suggestions are only my ideas and I am more than happy to take your feedback on board and change one or two categories !
If you are interested in any of the products featured here, just clink on the bottom of the image and the link to the item should come automatically.
So without further delay, let’s begin…
Candles
Candles in general would be my number one gift especially for less personal occassions. A nice candle is such a homely gift and can add a little bit of luxury. I like more price candles as they have quite unusual scents and last a very long time.
All of the candles shown here are priced up to £50 and I would recommend each and every single one. Choosing a favourite one would be a difficult one but if I was forced to make that decision it would have to be Jo Malone’s Blackberry & Bay.

  Fragrance
Fragrance is my second most favourite gift to give and probably number one if I am on the receiving end. There is so many good fragrances on the market that will suit most tastes and personal preferences.
I like niche and unusual scents, maybe on a more spicy yet floral side. My current number one would be without the shadow of the doubt Diptique L’Ombre dans l’Eau. It reminds me of my childhood yearsand the smell of blackcurrant leaves is to die for !

  SLGs (Small Leather Goods)
Card holder or card case is an ideal little gift and I strongly believe that most ladies would love one. It can be as luxurious as you want it to be with options available both on high street and in designer boutiques.
I would love to find this one by Dior under my tree although I know I am pushing my luck with this price tag attached but it is worth trying !

  Jewellery
Nice piece of jewellery is a statement and something that will stay with a person for a very long time. It can be anything from a pair of earings to a luxurious bracelet. The choices are endless and so is the budget.
I like my jewellery very simple and understated. I do not wear much gold but I have been eyeing this necklaces for quite some time now and I really, really like it !

Cashmere
There is nothing more special to give than cashmere regardless whether it is a scarf, hat, jumper or even pyjamas. The feel and the quality of the fabric is very cosy and it is an ultimate luxury gift in my opinion.
Nobody does cashmere better than Acne Studios. The scarf show here would have stay on my wish list for now but it is a dream…

  Books
For somebody who likes to read, good book or two will always be a good idea. Knowing their favourite author or hobby may come handy but in general travel books as well as cook books would be good choice.
If you follow my blog for a while, you may know that discovering undiscovered is something I am obsessed with so this travel book would be the one on my wish list !

How to Make Your Home Smell Like Summer
Scent is an unseen element of style. Not only does it tie everything together in fashion, and in your home…it is one of the easiest ways to recall memory. Do you have amazing memories of summers past? Does the smell of the ocean take you back to a tropical vacation, or the smell of fresh basil make you think of your garden?
The secret to making any space feel more luxurious lies not only in what you see, but also and sometimes more importantly, in what you smell. A home scented by candles is so welcoming and memorable. Here are a few dreamy diffusers, candles and more sensory loaded ways to bring summer vibes into your home.
The fragrance of roses is evocative, mysterious, romantic and is one of my favorite scents. That’s why I love the Roses Diffuser Cartridge in my Diptyque Electric Diffuser. The scent is subtle and makes the room (or even your car) smell delicious. The cartridges come in different scents such as Mimosa and Ginger.
Diptique Berries Room Spray is fresh and fruity…scented with roses and black currant leaves while the Orange Blossom Scented Candle from Jo Malone evokes the scent of clementine leaves in the morning dew! It’s no secret that Jo Malone is one of my favorite brands for delicious scents from cologne to room spray to candles! One of my favorite summer candles from Jo Malone is Wood Sage and Sea Salt.. This fragrance helps you escape to a windswept seashore and also comes in a Hand & Body Wash and a Body Creme.
I’m not sure, but maybe the most summery scented candle is the Nest Fragrances by Gray Malin Boxed Candle. Gray Malin is an internationally renowned fine art photographer and New York Times best-selling author whose work combines the spirit of travel, adventure, luxury, and artistry. ... Gray's journey as a fine art photographer has always been much more than just beautiful imagery, it's a lifestyle…more particularly a summer lifestyle. I’m really obsessed with the fragrances of these candles…Amalfi Lemon & Mint, Coconut & Palm, and Ocean Mint & Sea Salt… I know you’ll love these candles!
“Santorini is a medley of crisp citrus and green notes artfully paired with exotic spice and natural wood essences. Top notes of vibrant Italian bergamot, sweet verbena and fresh vetyver are enhanced by the subtle sweetness of rosewood, warm sandalwood and aromatic cardamom.”
Below is a boutique of the fragrances mentioned, plus a few that I think are amazing!

2017 Holiday Gift Guide: for your BFF
Hey hey! Hope you’re having a wonderful morning. We’re back from a quick trip to Orlando – I’ll share some pics soon. We took the girls on the Polar Express, and it was fantastic – but in the meantime, I wanted to share some more gift ideas for those of us still making it through our Christmas list. Thankfully I’m pretty much done, but I still have a few things to pick up. And then there’s the great wrapping party…
These are some ideas for your best friend. I feel like they’re the easiest to shop for since you know them so well, but it’s also fun to choose some unexpected treasures. This is one of those gift guides that can also double as a wish list for yourself! If your hubby or partner has been pestering you for ideas, you can just send them this little link and there ya go.

Gift guide for your BFF:
Jewelry:
Monogram pendant necklace. Love the delicate style of this one!
Tassel fringe earrings or these shoulder duster earrings. Both on-trend and perfect for the holiday season.
Festive ball drop earrings. I love these for New Years!
Bracelets that look pricey, but aren’t at all.
A dainty necklace to remind her of home (I love these cactus ones, and these state ones are super cute)
Hair and beauty finds:
Revlon Style One-step hair drier and styler. Ok, so I’ve been using this hairdryer for a couple of months now, and am obsessed with it. My hair is super long and thick, so it takes 18 years to dry it. I’ll usually take off most of the moisture with a regular hairdryer (I use this one, or I’ll let it air dry for a few hours) and use this one to smooth and style. I use it on the girls’ hair and it is so much faster than a regular blow-dryer. The reviews online are insane for good reason! It’s next level.
Beautycounter charcoal mask and lipgloss. Thankfully, clean beauty products are becoming more mainstream. I’ve been a Beautycounter fan for years, and these are two of the best products to try out the line.
Tarte brush set. Such an awesome deal!
Toasted eyeshadow palette. Love the neutral colors.
Fresh Best of Beauty Bundle. So many awesome finds here.
Drybar Sake Bomb Shampoo and Conditioner. While it’s not as good as going to a *real* Drybar, these smell amaaaaazing.
Everything you need for perfect brows. Anastasia ALL THE WAY.
Supermud set.
Kitchen fun and house stuff:
Eyelashes gold coffee mug
Succulent Terrarium. You could also DIY on the cheap.
A Diptique candle or Voluspa mini tin candles.
Pour-over coffee maker + your favorite local coffee.
The perfect cheese board. This is so classic and lovely!
Fashion gifts:
A trendy pom-pom sweater
This Hanukkah sweater or this wine sweater (<— I totally bought this one and wear it a little too often.)
Stitch Fix gift card! <— If you’ve been wanting to try Stitch Fix, this is the perfect chance. They’re waiving the styling fee for my readers so you can try out the service for free.
Super soft slippers
Under $30:
Capri candle
Monogram ornament
A gorgeous addition to the bar cart
Rose iPhone case or pop socket
Fun sleep mask. This is so cute!
kate spade mini stud earrings. Great price, too.
Funny wine glass. This makes me laugh every time I see it.
Mantraband
Champagne bears cocktail kit
So, tell me friends: what’s on your personal wish list this year? What are you gifting your BFF this holiday season?
xo
Gina
More gift guides:
For the kiddos
For the men
For your fitness-loving friend

hello?... hello world
By Goldie & Stevie
Hi Yayoi-san! :) Yoroshiku Onegaishimasu
Tumblr media
“$3500 for a jacket,” I looked at a price ticket of a jacket that I love so very much. As I looked closer, there are some panels of fabrics printed and solid and on the inside, there’s no lining (yippee!).
Even now, I still remember clearly the boutique smells like Diptique scented candles, and there is a corner of French perfumery and some dresses on the mannequins. Floral dresses that I love so much these days.
Some shopping trips are unforgettable, though it was a short visit and I didn’t particularly buy anything that day.
“Why? Why?” a nudge from Goldie, my goldfish.
“I don’t know why really, Goldie,” I answered him.
Perhaps I have other necessities I need to buy before I get to that Comme De Garçons jacket.
Kisses from Goldie, the highlight of my day. Always.
Ah, I thought, the tough life of being in a big city as a painter. There’s not much to look forward to other than what I needed to do the following morning, carrying on with what I left out the day before. Comes the morning, sunny side up egg, toasted bread, and I am all happy in my tummy again.
Perhaps, if it was mine all along, the jacket and the floral dresses, it’s going to be much different today. Perhaps I’d take Goldie around the park on a picnic, inviting Red Herring and Co. – our very best friends just to chat.
Whatever it is, for my next buy, back to necessities: it’ll be my skincare, make-up, and a bag of paint and some papers.
Another night with coffee and cigarettes...Bonne nuit!
Love always,
Stevie & Goldie

Desk decor that's (somewhat) practical/useful
For my college dormitory, my home away from home for the next nine months, I wanted to replicate the atmosphere of my space at home while tailoring it to my current taste. With this comes my first tip for decorating: bring as much decor/supplies from your home as possible! You do not have to buy a new version of everything you already own! This helps make your dorm seem more homey as it physically resembles your previous space. Keep organized with varying trays and dishes. For example, my table top mirror is multifunctional as it has storage in addition to its conventional purpose (e.g. helping me to do my makeup so that I never leave my room with unblended makeup). I  brought up a copper dish from Urban Outfitters to act as a catch all dish of sorts as it holds a myriad of beauty items like hand creme, perfume, rosewater spray, and a hair comb of all things. I also included lots of photos of my family and friends (mostly my dog tbh) so that I won't forget my true home (: Photos and wall hangs like tapestries or macrame hangs like the one I have help to fill empty space with varying textures/patterns.
For my desk area I tried to maximize the space I had as much as possible, so I utilized a fair amount of hanging storage. This mirror from (you guessed it) Urban Outfitters helps me organize my accessories so that they won't tangle. It's brassed gold finish also coincides with the array of mettalic hues in my room. However, I would only recommend this particular mirror to those who are allowed to nail things into their walls. I had to use a small nail to affix this to my wall (pls don't tell admin). Truthfully, I'll probably just patch it with some toothpaste at the end of the year.
This last portion of my desk is a conglomeration of items I bought from Target and succulents. Target has really inexpensive desk lamps that are super cute! I also brought this stapler and tape holder set from home, but it is also from Target. These two succulents add a bit of life into the typically draining college environment. I also brought three plants with me to overcompensate for the fact that my dormitory (and most dorms for that matter) do not allow candles which are typically a staple in my desk decor. I couldn't bear to buy fake votives so I reacted by acquiring candle-sized succulents and they make my desk feel just as full as if I had an aesthetically pleasing Diptique candle instead. Also, succulents are a good choice for college students because they are low maintenance. Try to put them in a space that gets full sun if you can!
Hope that this gave you some inspiration for the oncoming school year & wishing you all the best of luck in your studies!
