I’m beginning my puppet making journey!

I decided to try making a puppet head with cardboard and masking tape(the only things I have and afford at the moment) and I think it’s coming out pretty good! I do plan to add a plastic mouth plate in the future but for now this works out just fine.

I am a bit confused on how to attach it to the body when it comes to that AND what material to use for hair. I plan to make this puppet into Ms. Gold, the design I showed a while ago, but I’m not sure if I should use felt or yarn for her hair. I have a ton of old yarn I don’t use and some dye so maybe I could use yarn and brush it out to make the hair? I’m not sure…I’m extremely new to puppet making obviously, haha!!

I got @yugsly s book Viscera Objectica for christmas and I just read it, its so beautiful!

I’ve been a long-time fan of Smile for Me (even got the pre-order collectors edition+vinyl with the art book!!) and I got Be Kind, My Neighbor probably a year or two ago, I adore their art and stories so much!

Its such a good and short read, especially being Objectum myself! Its so.. fulfilling? exciting? heart-warming? For someone you look up to share the same.. unique thing you do? I guess? I’m also transgender, and have a sorta “un-normal” gender identity, and I look up to Yugos art, stories, writing, and character designs so much.

Anyway, fangirlboying aside, I just wanted to express my love for this book. I will be rereading it many times. And heres some pics of my favourite objects <3

I FIGURED IT OUT! 🎉✨️

I finally figured out a way to make Frank Franklys Unbrow move! After watching a video on tiktok of burt and Ernie being adorablely silly! It clicked in my head how to do it! So i grabed misos (my muppet ocs head base tester) mini head base and got to work with a test wire to see if it would work and it dose!

Im so excited to work on this Frank Frankly puppet! 🎉✨️

Ik it looks silly on how to control it but i have plans to make it a lot easier to control!

Wow tho, finally found a use for the old Homestuck charms I made in like 2012 or 2013!! They were originally going to be another decoden phone case, but I scrapped that idea when I had a cooler idea for a Derse-themed 'the prince is awake' case, and then later got into different fandoms for the next cases.

(My favourite is still the teeny tiny Squarewave!)

I hot-glued some earring posts and stuck plastic backs on the Strider charms to pin them down. They of course all popped off the hot glue when I tried scrunching the panel in there, but I managed. I left the second white panel sandwiching the backs, so they don't tear up the bag itself.

I also offloaded four heavy Gurren Lagann charms that were hanging on my phone. They've been clattering around on my phone for a whole year, now. (Actually, just a few days shy of a whole year.) I'm feeling SO naked handling my phone without them causing a racket, now. They were so heavy and so loud. I might miss them already, but I don't know if I have enough flat Homestuck things to put on here yet? (I WAS going to like just draw and print my own collage or something. But I still forgot to get printer ink.) So. I'll probably take those off once I figure out how else to fill this with a unified Strider concept. ((I wish I knew the GL charm artist, but I bought them second-hand.))

I seriously have no idea what I'm doing at all, so I watched some videos, and one person put fairy lights, so I went and robbed my Valentine's tree of its red battery-powered lights for this. It had to be wrapped weirdly, and I was all pushing a pen in there to shove it into shape (and popping the charms off the earring posts again, sigh).

The shitty holographic foil wrapping paper I added kept getting torn, too, but it's gold and matches the hardware, so I had to try it. (I LOVE GOLD.) Maybe it will work better if I glue it down onto foam instead lol, but IDK if foam will bend to squish in there. And I threw on an extra M56 lanyard I had, just because?? I usually have a red one on my phone. IDK what else to use the lanyards for, besides my phone.

I still have a TON of handmade smuppet charms, but they all have charm loops baked into them, so I don't want to put those inside the bag. Maybe on the outside somewhere?? The orange smuppet in the bag was THE original I used to make the mold for the other clay smuppets. (Was going to make a smuppet charm bracelet, but never got around to chaining them together. Art college was rough, man. Left so many projects behind while flying back and forth.) I gotta think about it.

Anyway, yeah. Here's my first go at assembling an ita-bag panel.

I made these little silly puppets to give to Chili and Bandit’s voice actors since they were guesting at a local convention. I was able to hand them off and they were the sweetest people ever!

After making these puppets I’m dying to make more silly little guys!

I had this random black fanny pack in my studio, I think it was left in my camp at Burning Man, and I wanted to see if it could be 'muppeted'. I love turning everyday objects into Muppets. I think this turned out great. the front pocket as the mouth cracked me up. The eyes were a process- I glued threaded metal posts (leftovers from my days working with leather) into styrofoam half domes that I made into the eyes with scraps of fleece and felt. The tongue is actually a tiny pocket too!

Tiny tiny frank update! 🦋✨️

This is heavily still a wip but i got the tube shapes done, im thinkin about making him a litttttle bit smaller cuz hes quite big at the moment but so far so good, im also thinkin his eyes and nose need to be a bit longer as well! But like i said still a heavy wip. Rn im currently trying to work on the eyebrow Mechanic which is a lot harder then it looks...but it'll be worth it in the end!

(Ps ik the edges look rough i still haveta shave them down!)
