when you upgrade strategic withdrawal, it will heal him if he's on death's door. he never reached death's door because my redundancy with healers (vestal and occultist), but i always have it as a precaution because we don't want peepaw daddy to die.

DO NOT select vestal when given the choice to have a hero face their failures, since she does no damage, it will softlock the fight until she dies (which will take upwards of at least 100 turns, given how durable she is and her capability to heal herself. the fight for me took 50 turns as it was, and i couldn't imagine how mad i would be at myself if i would have accidentally choose her)
