not so hot marvel takes

- I dont really like captain marvel. good for brie larson for getting a powerful role and I'm sure she connects to a bunch of people but I just don't. marvel women are just not relatable to me. the closest one I've ever got was natasha, but a lot of her time was spent being eye candy and being shoved into the arms of another available male. the movies do a lot of telling with little showing of nat's true character. endgame was so close to showing off the true nat..... then she died. and only now does she get a movie?

- SHE'S BEEN IN THE MCU FOR SO LONG WHAT THE FUCK WHY COULDN'T YOU GIVE ME THIS TO INTRODUCE HER CHARACTER DID I REALLY NEED DARK WORLD OR IRON MAN 3 WHICH DON'T DO A BIG FAVOR TO EACH OF THEIR TITULAR CHARACTERS' DEVELOPMENT????

- literally, the events of dark world and iron man 3 feel so passed over by the rest of the mcu I'm just.......

- most of my love for the marvel women we see comes from the fandom and selected edits. NOT CANON CONTENT WHICH IS STUPID

- also, there are like..... 8????? named female characters who ever do anything?????? like wow so much diversity. lemme guess..... love interest who is also a badass? powerhouse who really soft and loyal for her friends? woman scorned, betrayed, or otherwise badly hurt for Plot Contrivance?

- black panther is quickly becoming one of my favorite marvel movies because at least their girls are diverse.

- shuri is a tech genius. incredibly spunky and notoriously a Gen Z kid with little regard for tradition. not the greatest fighter whatsoever but she does her best. stills deeply cares for her nation DESPITE not caring much for their traditions

- okoye is a general. a woman trained in combat - a part of her nation's elite force of all-women soldiers!!!! a woman who is working within the law with as few casualties as possible!!!! in marvel!!!!!! (save for the scenes in which she is outside wakanda....) a wife???? and yet ultimately loyal to her position and her leaders rather than her heart. deeply rooted in tradition and law.

- nakia is an activist. she follows her heart, though her heart is not dedicated solely to romance (see: t'challa). her heart guides her to be an active member of her nation and the world, and she seeks to leave the world a better place than what she left it. she is perfectly willing to put herself in danger to do what's right. her duty comes first. her people come first. only when she is satisfied in her ability to provide for her people and the world, then she may allow herself to selfishly love.

- Ramonda is a mother. a wife. a queen. regal and well-spoken, ramonda may grieve as deeply as any one of her people at the death of her husband and son, but she is loathe to take any slight lying down. she is a pantheress, a fierce embodiment of what the goddess bast is: a protector, a nurturer, a symbol of hope for all of her people

- why can I tell you more about these three characters who have only been prominently featured in one movie than pepper or nat who have been consistent characters since iron man 2?
