Regarding #StPatricksDay, I’m just going to quote my girl @shelbybelfast : “For the record, St Patrick’s Day is a colonizer holiday celebrating the deaths of Irish pagans who were slaughtered, forced to convert and force bred out by Christians. Ireland never had snakes. That fun story of the guy with the flute leading snakes to a cliff to save Ireland, it’s an allegory for pagans. Ireland has been hostile to the Irish for most of its existence because of colonizers. And when they came to America, like so many others, it didn’t get better. It got worse. For a long long time. You want to celebrate the Irish? Go learn about us. Actually read about how much slaughter was done to us before the famine. Go read how the English raped and stole land. Go learn about how America treated us like dirt, forced us to take new non-Irish sounding names when we got here. Go read “How the Irish Saved Civilization” or “Armed Struggle” or anything on Bobby Sands. On May 5th Bobby will have been dead 40 years. Starved in a prison by English men. All of your Christian holidays, they’re stolen, from pagans. Christianity is a colonizer practice. And drinking on St Patrick’s Day is you justifying a practice that countless Irish have died from because alcoholism in Ireland is a result of generational trauma. Show me a second Gen and I’ll show you a person with alcoholism in their family. Fuck St Patrick’s Day. Go watch “Hunger” by Steve McQueen. A beautiful haunting film made by a black Irish film maker. It’s wonderful. And then learn about Celtic paganism, whats left of it.” #Ostara is this weekend, go do a Google. :) ☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️ - - - - - #irish #ireland #green #luckoftheirish #shamrock #stpaddysday #kissmeimirish #stpatrick #saintpatricksday #lucky #stpatricksdayparade #clover #irishdance #potofgold #paddysday #love #stpatricks #colonization #march #history #doalearn #learn (at Las Vegas, Nevada) https://www.instagram.com/p/CMiTDQCFKY9/?igshid=1boze1jncxg99
