The Hippie movement

In this post i will talk about the hippie movement because I think is really important to know that they had a significant impact on the perspectives of American society in 60’s and 70’s during the cold war. They wanted to break away from the perfect picture image of their parents. They wanted to become more gasp, natural by growing their hair long and admiring the beauty of the world around them.

Hippies also sought for pleasure and saw beauty in drug use, such as marijuana, weed or LSD. For them it was not a bad habit, it was the idea of expressing personal freedom. They found drugs as a relaxing form of meditation that helped them focus on finding a level of higher awareness in the world. It was seen as recreational and a way to expand the mind as well as to show their emotions against the normal society and hopefully change their perspective. This activity had a great disapproval in the society. Most of the people criticized hippie subculture for their loose morals and obsession with drugs.

 Despite of the negative aspects of hippies behavior, there were also aspects which contributed to the society in a positive way. These group of people were more relaxed and open-minded than the rest of society. The most significant for them was ‘brotherhood among people of all races and ethnicity. Preaching a motto of love and kindness, hippies tried to spread their beliefs into society. Also, they believed that people should share resources among each other to create equality and it was opposite to the government policies. As a consequence, the hippies felt unaccepted by the government and did not support all the actions their government took during the cold war.

Finally, it seems that hippie subculture influenced American society in different ways. In spite of their involvement with drugs and sex, they had positive impact on the society in 60’ and 70’. Americans no longer considered sex as a taboo and they started to assist the poor and isolate and to treat all people equal. The hippie culture gain respect in the eyes of the public and has become infused with American culture.

Starfruit ficlet

The sunlight slowly creeped through the window, signaling the arrival of a new day.

When the rays hit Doc’s face he softly groaned and flipped over to his side. Next to him, his trainee-slash-boyfriend Mac fluttered his eyes open and turned to face the older man.

A playful smile forming on his face, Mac gently touched the end of Doc’s nose with his fingertip. In response, the coach suddenly grabbed Mac and pulled him close.

“Morning to you too,” Mac giggled. His voice was slightly muffled due to being smothered by his lover’s large chest. Doc hummed contentedly, stroking the teen’s hair and giving it a small kiss.

Doc loosened the grip on Mac to allow him to move a little. They looked at each other in sync, smiled and pecked each other on the lips. Once, twice, thrice.

“I love you,” Doc almost whispered.

“Love you too, Doc.” The teen was equally as quiet, nuzzling the crook of Doc’s neck.

As he drifted off to sleep once more, Doc absentmindedly continued to play with Mac’s hair. His eyes slowly shut and he smiled warmly, thinking about how lucky he was to have someone like Mac in his life.

Doc woke up about a few minutes later to realize Mac had left the room. The smell of the coach’s favorite chocolatey breakfast meal wafted through the air.

Just as Doc was processing what was going on, his boyfriend came back with freshly made chocolate chip pancakes with a syrup dispenser and hash browns on a tray.

“Happy birthday, babe!” He beamed, setting the tray down on Doc’s lap as he sat up on the bed.

“Baby, you did this all for me?” Doc felt a tear well from his eye from the gesture and wiped it with his finger.

“Uh-huh! I felt like it’s the least I could do,” Mac looked away bashfully. “You’ve been so kind to me and, y’know, I wanted to surprise you with your favorite...” He trailed off, words failing him.

“C’mere, kid,” The older man made a motion with his hand signaling Mac to come closer.

As soon as he did, Doc immediately started to pepper Mac with kisses as much as he could. All over his hand, his arm, even leaning over to kiss him on the cheek.

“Daaad!” He whined playfully, “The food’s gonna get cold!”

“Alright, alright,” The older man chuckled. He instantly began to chow down on the meal Mac had so lovingly worked on.

There was a sparkle in Doc’s eyes when he let out an “Mmm!” And then another “Mmmmm!” as he treasured every bite.

Mac almost immediately lit up seeing how his lover seemingly couldn’t get enough of his breakfast. Staring at Doc fondly, he admired the way that his coach took a big bite from the fork of pancakes and his heart fluttered each time he licked his lips.

It never ceased to amaze Mac how he could never get bored of his boyfriend’s mannerisms and couldn’t help but goofily smile. Doc took notice of this and paused his meal to smile back at him and give him another kiss on the hand before continuing.

The two of them stayed in comfortable silence while Doc continued to eat, their troubles seemingly melting away just from the domestic bliss they were in.

Hello there, you can call me Bane!

I’m a fudanshi and a himedanshi, I love me some delicious yaoi and yuri.

This is a blog focused mostly on Doc x Mac (aka Starfruit) but I might feature other ships as well!
