I’ve been super busy but I still appreciate having been tagged by @bibliophilecats, @books-are-portals, and @thelivebookproject, thank you!

I’ll answer all your questions in one post because I doubt I’d be able to come up with new questions for all three of the tags, haha But since this will be super long, you’ll find it under the cut!

First up, @bibliophilecats‘ questions:

1. What is your favourite movie and/or TV show based on a book? I’m not sure I have one, there’s nothing that immediately comes to mind at least. So I’ll just tell you about the first one I ever saw (when I was a kiddo still): Emil und die Dedektive! (based on the novel by Erich Kästner) 2. When you just can’t get into a book, do you quit or do you finish every book you start, no matter what? As embarrassing as it is to admit, I’m part of the latter category. 3. Which is your favourite bookstore? I absolutely love Daunt books in London because not only is it pretty, it also offers a very wide selection of books. 4. Do you keep all the books you read? Do you keep none? I keep all of them. One day I want to have one of those homes that are just full of books and plants! 4. What is the rarest color on your bookshelf? Difficult to say, but maybe gray? 5. Is there a book that permanently changed you (opinions, style, fandom) when you read it? Lots of nonfiction does that! One example is Caitlin Doughty’s Smoke gets in your eyes but also psychology-related books like Kahneman’s Thinking, Fast and Slow. 6. How do you unwind after a stressful day at work/school? Step one is my commute home, during which I read. And then it’s usually tumblr and youtube (or catching up with series). 7. Which fictional friendship/relationship is your goal? I haven’t figured that out yet but anything that’s supportive is always lovely to see. 8. What is the one skill you wish you could master? Better social skills, for sure! 9. You’re famous somehow and a University awards you one of those giveaway PhDs as a publicity stunt. What would you be a Doctor of? no idea, but I’d love the chance to get an actual PhD in linguistics or philosophy! 10. If nobody else is around and it’s cranked up loud, which song will you always dance to? Ooooh, there’s many! Tonight, Tonight by Hot Chelle Rae for example

What book would you have liked better had you read it when you were younger? A wrinkle in time, probably.

Do you listen to podcasts? Any recs? I rarely find the time but when I do I love the Green brothers’ Dear Hank and John and, what is almost a classic of podcasts, Welcome to Night Vale

Favourite edition of your favourite book? ‘favourite’ is a big word and I don’t think I can answer to that but I do love my signed special edition of The Name of the Wind that has a goat scribble in it

Favourite book (fiction or non-fiction) you had to read during your studies (uni or otherwise)? That’s so difficult to choose! Let me give you a top 3: Hamlet, Code Name Verity and Tess of the D’Urbervilles (oh but I do have so many more favorites! what a tough question!)

What movie would make a great book? cool question! Frankly, I’d probably read most of the Marvel movies as books. The comic world is too intimidating for me but if the movies were books I think I’d really enjoy all the banter and stuff...

Tea or coffee? Coffee - I like the idea of tea but I can’t get into it.

A random fact you’re proud to know? I’m hardly ever proud of anything so that’s a tough question.... I can’t really think of anything, so I’ll pass

Favourite tree? Weeping willows!

Dream house/flat? I’d love to actually own a small house. Ideally with lots of light, plants, and bookshelves. + a garden!

Least favourite comic (series)? Why? I’m not invested enough to have one.

You have an unlimited budget to buy one (1) book. What book would you buy? I’d probably have something bound gorgeously just for me - maybe a collection of my favorite books or fanfics or something. There’d be gorgeous lettering, a leather cover and lots of lovely hand-crafted details.

How many books have you read this year so far? currently reading my 50th!

Do you have a Goodreads account? (Mine is this) yes, over here!

How many languages do you speak? Well, I speak English and German. I learned a bit of French in school but I can’t really speak it. I’ve been learning Norwegian on Duolingo for more than two years now but I've never actually had a conversation in Norwegian, so...

How do you choose your books? I just read whatever looks interesting at the time.

Have you ever travelled abroad? Yeah, too many times to count (because I’m too lazy to count now). But with the exception of one trip to the states it’s always been within Europe.

Tell me something about yourself. I have a tough time deciding who I am.

Recommend a book? This is going to hurt by Adam Kay.

What are you currently reading? I’m currently reading Dear Evan Hansen because I love the musical!

Why did you create your blog? Just to see and share book stuff, really.

What do you like most about bookblr? That (despite people saying otherwise) it’s always there and from my personal experience seems so much more positive than other communities.

Blank gap -tell me anything you want: books you love, how do you feel about my blog, anything at all! So this is gonna be a question for the audience (I need advice). I have this book stamp (”from the library of....”) that I stamp all my books with after I read them and before I put them on their new spot on my shelves. Now I’ve just finished reading The Hunchback of Notre Dame and it’s an old book that I got secondhand (it even has an inscription!). I feel sort of strange about stamping it, I’m not sure if I should do it (Almost all of my other books are new books so I had no trouble stamping them). Thoughts?

Right, you didn’t think we’d get there, but we did! It’s time for my questions! Not all of them are bookish because it’s really tough coming up with new stuff after thinking of weekly bookish questions for years [also I might self-plagiarize and use some of those as wbqs in the future]....

The new energy brings an array of options that exist simultaneously in the higher realms. In the quantum field, they are already present and exist as unlimited potential, even though you may not be consciously aware of them.

They are there waiting for you to select the one that you would like to choose as the next step on your ascension path. You are able to bring this into manifestation through your thoughts and emotions.

Before you can manifest your next step, it is necessary to be aware of the possibilities that are awaiting you.

Expanding your awareness allows you to explore a greater range of options. This begins with a realization that there are things beyond your current knowledge. It implies an openness to explore new avenues and realms for expanded possibilities. Being aware of these realms does not mean that you will automatically select them. It just means being open to receive and examine new ideas.

This process begins with a willingness to be open to an expanded awareness. You may wish to set an intention for this. When you have an open mind and a desire to know what else might be available, you can relax into the possibilities. Opening your awareness is similar to letting the Light shine through a portal. The more you focus on the portal and the Light, the more it will expand. Then, your boundaries can become flexible rather than rigid.

As you become more relaxed about the possibilities, you can approach this from a ”What if … “ type of perspective. You may think about all of the ways that boundaries have been opened in the past … things such as the concept that your earth is round, that reincarnation has been documented, and that photos of other planets have been taken. When you realize that expanding awareness has been a part of humanity for many ages, you can picture yourself as part of an ongoing process that has occurred for eons.

You can approach it from a point of wanting to know what concepts you might find to be just what you have been looking for. It does not mean that you have to accept whatever might come into your awareness. It simply means being willing to relax and look at the possibilities and then discern what is right for you.

The benefits of embracing expanded awareness are many. It provides you an opportunity to continue to move forward on your ascension path by taking a look at higher concepts. You may find that you can look at situations with an expanded perspective. They may not seem as clear cut when viewed with an expanded consciousness. Instead of being an either-or situation, you are able to see the many shades of variation and subtleties. You may gain an entirely new perspective about others and their views.

Even if you decide that the new possibilities do not resonate with you at this point, you have made strides on your ascension path simply by your willingness to expand your awareness.

The more you are willing to expand your awareness, the more new concepts will be presented to you for consideration. This allows you to discern and select the ones that resonate with you and your path.

As you continue with this process, it becomes a natural pattern for you, and you continue to rise to higher levels on your ascension path.

Shock Shares Stuff: Spoon Theory

Hiya folks, I’m Shock/Crystal/That Mun That Disappears For Weeks At A Time. Please, call me TMTDFWAAT. This small segment is going to be just as unpredictable as my regular roleplays, but hopefully just as entertaining (or in this case, educational), as I show off cool things I learn or hear about that I wanna share with you guys. Just a note that I’m pretty sure I’m the newest one in the community (I joined the fandom around season four and started this blog in May of last year), so I might share some things that you already know about. In which case, kudos to you! Now, let’s get on with the segment!

“So TMTDFWAAT, what are we hearing about today?” Firstly, thanks for using my full name. It means a lot. <3 And secondly, we’re gonna be talking about “Spoon Theory”, also known as, “The Reason I’m That Mun That Disappears For Weeks At A Time”!

If you’ve been wandering around the barren wasteland that is Tumblr and decided to search through the autism tag, well firstly my hat’s off to you, friend. You’re a brave soul. Personally, that tag riles me up each tag I think about it. But sometimes I’ll find nice and pure stuff there like GIFs about slime for visual stimming or learning a few new things about how other aspies do things.

Well, while I was traversing the tag the other day out of boredom, I found something interesting. Someone in the tag had mentioned that they’d run out of spoons recently and felt rather tired. I had no idea what that meant so I just decided to pass it by and see what else the page had to offer...

...Only to find more talk of spoons. People left and right were losing their spoons, and each post had the tags and concepts, albeit by different people. And honestly I was really confused. My first thought was that spoons are a very common stim toy and that a nation-wide movement to take their toys away was happening.

This, my friends, is an example of why you shouldn’t expect me to put 2 and 2 together.

So I decided to do a bit of research with the help of a good friend, Google. Together, we figured out that the talk was regarding something called “Spoon Theory”.

To put it simply, the Spoon Theory is an idea that says each person has a certain amount of “spoons”. Spoons being an intangible and invisible unit of measurement for showing how much energy a person has at the moment. To my knowledge, there’s no real way to measure a person’s spoons or how many they have other than by asking them how they feel. Being high on spoons means you can do a lot of stuff, even stuff you’re not especially motivated to do. Meanwhile, being low on spoons means you can’t do as much, especially stuff you have no motivation towards. You’re just too tired!

So, why was spoon theory in the autism tag? Well, that’s simple. According to the spoon theory, people struggling with mental illness or mental disorders have difficulty with their spoons. To be specific, they have a limited supply at any given time. People without mental disorders may have a practically unlimited supply, or they may have an easier time rationing or rejuvenating spoons.

That’s not so for people with mental disorders. Often times, you only have a certain amount of spoons that you can contend with, and you’re not always assured you’ll get more spoons later. Sleep can help sometimes, but if you have trouble with a consistent sleep schedule then that won’t work. Sometimes you may have to deal with using the same amount of spoons for several days on end, and when you run out of spoons, well...Sorry? There’s not much you can do. Sure, you can force yourself to move on without spoons but that’s the equivalent of trying to finish a race when you’re only partially done and have a boulder strapped to your back. It’s technically possible, but it will be hard and pretty painful. Not to mention ew, racing. Sign me up for bowling any day.

Now, this is a pretty interesting theory to me. As someone with ASD (autism spectrum disorder), along with a few other things, it’s nice to actually know why the simple act of even coming online to talk with people can be physically difficult. Because that takes spoons too. How many spoons you have, how large they are, and what activities consume them vary from person to person.

For me? Roleplaying can take spoons. Not always, in fact a lot of times I can roleplay and not feel affected. But sometimes it does. More than that, social interaction can leave me easily feeling tired. That’s why I tend to ignore messages sometimes. I’m so exhausted by the mere idea of talking to anybody that I decide I’ll do it when I’m feeling less tired. Of course, when your spoons don’t replenish, you’ll be left putting it off longer...And longer......And longer.............

Let’s just say that if they sold spoons at Wal-Mart, I’d be one happy mun.

So there you have it. My spoons and lack thereof are pretty much the reason that I disappear so much. It has nothing to do with you guys at all. It’s how my mind works, and it can be a pain at times. Working at all, here or elsewhere, can be difficult. When I’m gone off trying to get a few spoons back, I usually lose track of time. I’ll get off the computer to get a snack and come back to find I missed three days and twelve asks.

But when I am here? I’m typically in great shape. If I have a couple spoons, I can speed through this blog faster than you can ask for a spoonful of sugar. Because this blog combines two of my special interests: Writing and My Little Pony: FiM. It’s the reason I can go through a ton of spoons trying to have social interactions, but I can roleplay using just a few and still manage to get by. It’s a tad weird, but it’s normal for me.

I’m new to the spoon theory myself. I only learned about it a few days ago. My information here is taking what I know of the theory as well as my own experiences.
