An analysis of Joris Jurgen’s various fears and insecurities
Aka, Liveblog - Dofus, livre 1 : Julith [PART 9]
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This scene is one of the most important pieces of Joris's characterization,  — because of what it shows us about Joris's inner thoughts, and how he came to be the person that he is.
Tumblr media
Joris knows what he said to Kerubim was cruel. And the things that terrify him are both the guilt and the reaction Kerubim might have:
Tumblr media
The guilt of knowing why Kerubim is like that: His life full of nothing but horrible things and tragedies, that made him vulnerable. And Joris just called him an old wreck, as if it's Kerubim's fault that he was wrecked to begin with.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And the fear that he will be too distraught to reason with. That Joris will have to grovel and beg for him to calm him down.
He probably deems himself selfish, for feeling bad about the idea of giving Kerubim an apology for everything he said. Selfish, because really, he does owe everything to him, does he not?
Tumblr media
Joris is perfectly aware of his place in the world as an orphan. Kerubim didn't have to adopt him.
He could have tossed him out like a hot potato, and perhaps, for how grateful Joris is, it might be just what he deserves, as far as Joris is concerned.
Tumblr media
Joris is more than aware that he's fortunate to even have a roof over his head and some semblance of a family. Both because of Lilotte, and Kerubim himself.
Tumblr media
So feeling bad about anything concerning Kerubim is like looking a gift horse in the mouth.
Tumblr media
And here's the jealousy I spoke of, earlier. He views Lilotte both as a friend, and as a rival for Kerubim's affections, — because his survival has always depended on Kerubim liking him.
Tumblr media
It's why he's so anxious, and why his thoughts are so quick to spiral out of control, just like at this moment of the movie.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He has nothing going for him besides Kerubim. Absolutely no family to speak of. So, if Kerubim can't, or doesn't want to take care of him, he has nobody left.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Children learn very early on how to please their parents: and for Kerubim it's pure, uncomplicated love, with no drama, no hate involved.
Tumblr media
And it's the reason he fears Joris growing up, and keeps treating him like a little kid, trying to offset the inevitable:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Subtly, these feelings of love become more and more complicated, as someone grows older.
Tumblr media
It's why Joris tries so hard to mold himself into a comfortable image for him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And yet, despite all his attempts, Joris finds himself growing up into yet another person scorned, — doomed to hurt Kerubim. Even though growing up and hurting Kerubim, whom he loves so much, is the last thing he wants.
Even though he has his own needs for respect and personal space now. These childhood experiences and pain make him into a very guarded person. To him, deep friendship is all about emotional labour and being infantilized.
Tumblr media
Joris can't really be his own person as Kerubim's son, and nobody will ever take him seriously from a first glance, — he's faced with reminders of that in every aspect of his life. This has made him a creature of pride.
Tumblr media
He has to work with every fibre of his being to seem serious, cool, and professional, — because otherwise, he is doomed to not be taken serious, and be considered a child yet again.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And he has every reason to feel that way. It's just a constant uphill battle to be recognized as an adult.
It's why he wants Kerubim and Atcham to act as his children, — he can't, he just can't have people he actually likes knowing about Kerubim, and risking them seeing him as subservient to the man, as his son.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's a way of having Kerubim and Atcham treat him as an equal — as a superior, even.
Though he knows that Kerubim and Atcham will never actually think that way of him, it is enough.
Tumblr media
They keep protecting him. And also, softly, making fun of him for these neuroticisms. But at least they don't think of him as child anymore.
And at least, he doesn't have to care about offending them, — a father is a creature that offends often, after all.

Liveblog - Dofus, livre 1 : Julith [PART 23]
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think after this it's kinda natural that Joris will never ever put his trust into anyone that isn't Kerubim or Atcham ever again.
Tumblr media
I am once again asking why Kerubim has these books and what was he doing at devil's sacrament.
He's never beating those necromancy allegations.
Tumblr media
There's a canonical name for the evil-ass looking huppermages.
youtube
Once again, this is Them in Dofus 2 when they reveal to Joris that they framed Julith or something. (source: my beautiful mind)
Tumblr media
The Dessous comic implies that Marline bought this stuff from Kerubim which is so funny. It's beautiful how little of a shit the man gives for the safety of others.
Tumblr media
I may not like Khan in his present form, as a macho gobbowler, but I like the idea of him. Joris, and his little "ghnhnn I have to do what's right, I have sacrifice my happinesss for other people" complex needs someone like that in his life who will buy him alcohol and help him run away from home when he's 14-16.
Tumblr media
I'm sure if given another movie, or a show, Ankama's plan would have been to make Khan more likeable. He seems like a ride-or-die friend.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A scene ago he was in Julith's arms. So, she found it important to get him into the arms of this dofus-powered doll. Personally, I like to think that he started thrashing and maybe even bit her.
Tumblr media
What did she lie about though? Liking him? Not wanting the Dofus? Being a competent person and not a fuck-up? (I love Bakara and say all of this with affection)
Tumblr media
Once again, I empathize, that Julith was gloating about this to Bakara. That she doesn't really care about Joris (and by extension, Joris's feelings.)
She is killing a thousand people, who did nothing to her. These are civilians who came to watch a sports match. How many mothers are here with their sons and daughters who just wanted to look at their idols? If Joris never had Grougalorasalar's soul, if he and Kerubim never learned of her plan, THEY would have been among these viewers.
Julith is a very interesting character because she's ruthless, she has no morals, absolutely no understanding or compassion for others, — even Bakara or her own son, — and yet she is driven by love almost entirely. And that's her one redeeming quality.
But also — does it really change things, when you're driven by love to kill a thousand innocent people? To ruin your son's life? Because it doesn't really change much, to me...
Tumblr media
I think there's a tragedy in that. She does love the idea of Joris. She loves what she sees of him, his voice, his face, and eyes. If she learned more about him, she'd probably love the parts he didn't show too. She'd love to see how he grew up.
She'd love how committed he is to those he loves. She'd love his ruthless march towards what he thinks is right that will allow him to close his eyes as he does unforgivable things. The only thing she would dislike is his loyalty to Bonta.
Tumblr media
But the reverse will never be true. Joris can become a warmonger, a dictator, and a war criminal, but he would loathe to place his needs above those of others. He wouldn't do horrible things if he didn't think it was for the greater good of mankind.
Tumblr media
As a 600yo man, Joris has lived through two apocalypses, — and yet people like Nox and Julith will lose 1-4 loved ones and go insane, killing people. I doubt he feels much for her, except for disgust.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Their friendship is so important to me. But also, somewhere out there, Tatak is crying.
Tumblr media
I think one of the great tragedies of Joris's character is that he is doomed to break his own moral code, slowly but surely.
One must imagine Joris Jurgen living happily with the blood of innocents on his hands, because the alternative is more haunting.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
One of her main issues is that she projects the actions of a few onto literally everyone in Bonta. Which is a very crazy fucking reach.
But I understand how she arrived at this reach to begin with: I don't think she was ever happy, before Jahash, and when she finally was happy, for once in her entire life, they took even that away from her.
Tumblr media
You wanna know who else in this scene is going to have only 2 people who give meaning to his life? Jo—— [I am forcefully restrained by the police]
I just really like pointing out the similarities between Joris and Julith, — and the way these similarities underline their differences.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Once again: she doesn't give a shit about anyone's opinion. She is betting everything onto a nebulous future where Joris and Jahash and Bakara forgive and forget everything she did, and they live as a happy Fambly (in Brakmar, because that's a GOOD city and they will LOVE to move there, after being no longer welcome in Bonta due to the 1000 dead people.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Guy whose very emotional and Julith and Joris voice) guys I think she's starting to realize that their familial relationship is going to be unfixable.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Joris and everyone present here are quite aware that stopping this will kill one of them.
They are also very aware that one dead person is better than a thousand.

Liveblog - Dofus, livre 1 : Julith [PART 24]
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And it's the last thing he would have wanted her to do :(
Tumblr media
Once again, want to draw your attention to the fact that Julith doesn't seem to really care about Joris. She just set him and Bakara free to get hit by lasers and once he told her "I will never allow this to happen" she stopped paying attention.
Like, did her love hinge on the condition he didn't disagree with her or what? I am insane about her various behaviours and weird way of loving (AKA she doesn't really love anyone besides Jahash, and she might not really love Joris that much either. because she's like. known him for a day and 80% of it he called her cringe(because she's cringe))
Tumblr media
Man, I know ankama didn't think about this all so deeply. They were like "cool lasers go pew pew pew". But I'm the CEO of caring too much. So I will literally do just that.
Anyway, her parenting style (setting him loose under some deadly lasers) reminds me of Kerubim, except she's doing this on purpose. yaay.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Joris has GOT to be in a literal state of shock and dissociation by now. Not even years of therapy will fix this.
By now he's seen roughly 1000 and 6 people die.
Tumblr media
I've seen headcanons of him keeping his mother's cape. And while imagining Joris with a cool cape is nice and all, I really doubt he Would Fucking Do That.
Not because you can get it as a cosmetic item in Dofus MMO (you can, but it's dubiously canon imo). I just think he fucking hates her and wouldn't want that thang in his house.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's just him VS. her now.
There's a heaviness to this. All of them (save for maybe Lilotte) have the knowledge that whoever hits the Dofus will get exploded together with them. But with the rush of adrenaline, inexperience of everyone involved (only warriors actively think "oh I am going to DIE for real this time"), and the "if we don't act now 1000 people will die" of this situation, I really doubt either of them thought too hard about it all.
But I think that once you're all alone with that thought - and it's obvious that it's you, who will have to do it, it sinks in a little better.
Tumblr media
He looks so distraught...
Tumblr media
Inside me are two wolves: one of them is saying, "Joris is so brave yet so scared. He knows he will probably not survive this, and he's 10, and, and--" and the other says "JORIS JURGEN SUICIDAL HEROISM MOMENT NUMERO UNO!!!!!"
Both of them are equally insane.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I NEED these frames injected into my bloodstream.
Tumblr media
One counterpoint I can think to why Julith is so worried about this despite setting him free to roam under the deadly lasers, is that, as the guardian of the Ebony Dofus, she could simply go "Not that one. let that one live. No, you can kill the blonde that looks like my husband, I don't give a shit about her. But the weird little boy? Don't kill him."
But this is just me trying to fix Ankama's fucky-wuckies with my imagination.
Tumblr media
It's jojover. Just completely and irreparably jojover.
This scene always gives me chills, more so than any other insanely evil interaction between Joris and Julith.
There are a lot of ways this scene gets me (imagine me putting on the tinfoil hat from my Aux Tresors kerulou days. I am about to be that insane): The way she envelops him stops any and all movement of him and his Dofus completely, and wipes out all the sound and momentum.
He is completely helpless against how easily she stopped him and took his only way to save everyone from him.
Tumblr media
As he falls to the ground, there's a little sense of dreaminess to it — the cape seems far bigger than it should be, the time before he hits the floor seems longer than it should be — and make no mistake, it is on purpose. Seconds before he falls we are shown the floor, and it seems vaguely closer to us at the first glance, than the distance he falls. It's unexpected, it's destabilizing.
It's like he is dissociating, from the horror of not being able to do this.
It's like a nightmare.
Tumblr media
And after doing this irreparable evil, and taking his one way of stopping this evil, she looks at him as if he is a tiny, stupid little thing, that doesn't know what it is doing.
As if it's not her fault that his only choice is doing something that will kill him, just to stop her.
Tumblr media
And listen. There's guilt too. Because Joris is the one who allowed her to get the Ebony Dofus back. If he survives this and nobody else does, do you think he could ever forgive himself?
She's making him responsible for this.
Tumblr media
They will never get to speak, but Jahash is happy, with what Joris has tried to do.
...Unlike Julith, who was reminded of Jahash by Joris's blue eyes, — I bet Jahash thinks they're similar to Bakara's.
Tumblr media
There are so many emotions here. He will never get to speak to this man. This man is happy abotu what Joris has done. This man is the reason Joris's life is utterly ruined.
Is Jahash's smile an "I'm sorry that you have to do this, and see this," or "I'm proud of you," or "I wish things were different," or a mixture of all of them?
Joris will never get to know.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He saw something in her that other people didn't see.
She never really wanted to be a "butcher". Even if she could not overpower that destiny, — after Bonta took away her entire family and future, may I add, — the fact that she tried to begin with is saying a lot.
Tumblr media
The look he gives her is something between "please don't prove me wrong" and "this isn't you".
Tumblr media
I think she realizes now that there is no future where she, Jahash, and Joris are together and happy.
Tumblr media
Four lives, in three generations of this family, ruined and uprooted and destroyed, because of some petty politics that were happening behind their backs.
I truly despise Bonta.
Tumblr media
It's quiet. The only sound is his own heartbeat. Nothing seems quite real. He can barely believe that maybe she will stop this madness herself.
Tumblr media
There is only one kind of reunion that they may have.
No matter how much she wanted a happier ending.

Liveblog - Dofus, livre 1 : Julith [PART 25]
Tumblr media
(trying to pretend I didn't cry about Julith and Jahash while writing the last post) reblog to slap his bald head.... like to slap his bald head....
Tumblr media
I talk a lot about Joris probably hating Julith and Jahash, — but I think the things he feels are infinitely more complex.
Tumblr media
And yet still perfectly describable by the word hate. It's just what makes sense for Joris to feel about them, in his future.
He probably hates them for how things turned out, yet he kept the surname. He probably hates Bonta for what it did to them, and yet tries to make Bonta better by being a part of the exact system that did these things.
He's going to grow up a little hypocrite who masks his feelings with twenty layers of obfuscation.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ehh. I would say they were like one fifth of him, compared to the "catboy cultural upbringing" parts and personality traits directly influenced, borrowed, or modelled after Kerubim Crepin's 20 Mental Illnesses.
This is a pretty cold comfort. He won't even know his birth father's voice, or his mother's favorite salad.
He won't even know if he sometimes does little gestures that are just like Julith and Jahash.
Tumblr media
Joris has always been caught between darkness and light, I think. From his parents being a Brakmarian and a Bontarian, to his father and uncle hating one another, and marching to these cities aid, to these two dofus.
[guy who headcanons Joris to have OCD voice] [guy who is insane about what Joris says in Dofus MMO voice] There's a lot of tragedy in this because I feel like he spent a lot of his life trying to chase away the parts of him, Bonta, and his own family that he didn't like.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The best he can say for himself is "it's not that dark dragons are evil, it's that they have Evil Thoughts because of magic, and maybe I do too, but me and Grougalorasalar are just more based than those other guys."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But at the same time, what is it, if not acceptance of how things are, that allows him to love Grougalorasalar? To try and understand Atcham? To accept, and very likely in the future, avenge, Julith, and decide to keep his surname?
To love Bonta despite how horrid it is.
(smiling) His trademark multitudes. He can do for others what he can't do for himself. Yaay.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is quite a tragic moment to me. It's a promise doomed to fail. He can't protect these two forever. He physically can't do that.
Does Joris think of this promise as he sees Leorictus Sheran-Sharm start off the chain of events that leads to the huppermage genocide, Ivory Dofus in hand? Does he think of this as he watches Ogrest's Chaos happen?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Does he think of this, as he sees Grougalorasalar, free, with centuries between them, not spare him a single thought for him despite all the ways he shaped and carved his body into his own vessel?
Does he think he failed, or does he think this folly of his youth? Might he be bitter?
I think Joris may have grown to love Grougalorasalar more than Grougalorasalar could ever love him back. This dragon has always been a part of him, but to Salar, Joris is just a little blimp on his lifespan.
Joris and Kerubim are so alike in the bitter, bitter, tragic divorce-despite-never-being-married department. Imagine being rejected by something that has been a part of you for your whole life. I would literally not survive that
Tumblr media
I don't trust the way they're looking. They look like they're going to make a video titled "spilling the tea..." saying Joris plagiarized their makeup tutorials.
Tumblr media
I bet they're the two evil fucking huppermages from the Brotherhood of the Forgotten, that never got elaborated upon. THEY HAVE THE SAME FUCKING HAIR AND EVIL STARE.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It is canonically known that there are ways for mortal huppermages to prolong their lifespans, y'know...
youtube
The Grimalkine sisters when they reveal in the Wakfu manga that 1. they're a part of the Brotherhood of the Forgotten, and 2. that they killed Joris's dad (and mom) for the recipe of the Elixir of long life, referenced in Dofus MMO, or whatever. (they already reveal this in Dofus 2 but Dofus 2 isn't real (outside my Visions) so they have to take out Joris's trauma in front of Wakfu cast as exposition, despite them having literally no context to any of this).
(Source: this all came to me in a dream.)
Tumblr media
Their name LITERALLY means "an evil fucking demonic cat"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Life ruining experience by far.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
HE DESERVES THIS. Also, look at the way he supports her leg!! So cute.

The Big Joris Physiology Post
Aka Liveblog - Dofus, livre 1 : Julith [PART 15]
Tumblr media
This is the true most important moment of the entire movie because this is all of us @ Khan and Bakara.
Anyway, judging from his reaction, at this point, I would wager that Joris knows what sex is. As one of the Funny Jokes of the movie will imply in a few minutes, he has started puberty. While Kerubim is, at all times, irresponsible, maybe, just maybe, he decided to, just this once, be normal, and inform Joris of what is occurring.
The more realistic scenario is that Joris read about it in a book. And it was probably not an encyclopedia or anything age appropriate. He probably still doesn't even know what a puberty is. Tragic.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
His father died. And they're trying to jump one another's bones.
I would literally just die.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here's a list of all the things the Joris Puberty Joke implies:
As I've said, it's likely that Kerubim once again neglected him: Joris has no idea what this means, or that this might be an inappropriate thing to say.
Joris is growing up at a normal human rate, and will be physically an adult at the age one would expect him to be an adult.
Growing up is the maturation of an organism, while growing old is its slow and natural decline due to cell degradation. For this reason, it is logical to me that as a child, he is still aging normally. This might mean that Joris's cell degradation is that akin to a dragon: either entirely absent, or significantly slowed.
While it's obvious that his short stature is not due to his aging issues, it would mean that, just like with his skin and hair, the dragon posession messes with his hormonal levels. What I'm saying is that Grougalorasalar gave him fucking growth hormone deficiency?? If the guy messed with Joris's pituitary gland, then that means he probably messed with his entire brain.
I would assume it is likely that he messed with his cognitive functions. Without Grougalorasalar, Joris would literally be a different person with a different temper. And that's kind of haunting.
Joris being bald his whole life, but suddenly growing some hair down there, also means that the fucker gave him alopecia totalis. AND made him a scalie. What!!!
On the topic of growth hormone deficency, btw..,,..
Tumblr media Tumblr media
New Joris childhood headcanon dropped. What if,,,. Can you see my vision here? Yeahg.
(No wonder Kerubim is fucking insane as a father. 'Salar's presence probably made Joris a very sickly baby, because his body just couldn't handle it until he was older.)
Tumblr media
Scales...
Considering he is not usually covered in them, I assume that he does not moult like a lizard, and that they are, in a way, akin to invasive growths that hurt/itch a little. Kinda like acne.

Liveblog - Dofus, livre 1 : Julith [PART 6]
Tumblr media
This has very intriguing implications... Like what do you mean by "bras are prohibited"?
Also, Lilotte and Joris are so cute here...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The fact that Joris can't make friends like this as an adult is just tragic to me. There's a lot of tragedy to the series and the movie, to someone who knows how his life turns out.
One must remember that, at the end of the day, that despite the neglect, Joris is very sheltered and bad at socialization. She's pulling him out of his shell. (Even if he made the first step, by deciding to disregard everything Kerubim told him.)
Tumblr media
Tbh I kind of ship them, in a "they date for a week when they're 15 before Joris realizes he is (choose one of following, according to your headcanon) not straight / specifically not into her. Even though dating was his idea. Because he thought it'd be cool and awesome." way
(I just think Joris having "i NEED to be a true man" issues like Kerubim, but solving them as a teen just because he can't muster up the willpower to give a shit about it for 40 years, would be funny.)
Tumblr media
Despite the issues of jealousy, he does think she's awesome. He's a bestie, not a worstie.
Tumblr media
"IF THERE'S SOMETHING MY LONG LIFE HAS TAUGHT ME, IS THAT THERE ARE NO UNSOLVABLE PROBLEMS" - Joris Jurgen, the guy who rushes in first and thinks second.
Tumblr media
He's so cunty and mean this whole movie. I love it.
Tumblr media
Renaissance painting.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He knows he's doing something "selfish", but he can justify it to himself because she asked him to leave her first.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The thing about Joris is that even as a child, he does not look his age. Just think about this: Amalia is 13 in Wakfu season 1, and Yugo is 12.
Joris still looks like his 7yo self, and in Wakfu MMO, Khan says that he thought Joris was 8, when they first met.
Tumblr media
No wonder he likes Khan that much. Khan is just like Kerubim fr.

An analysis of the most important scene between Kerubim and Joris.
Aka, Liveblog - Dofus, livre 1 : Julith [PART 7]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
While Kerubim does want to help and care for Lilotte, he draws a line at getting Joris into a dangerous situation. He's mad at both of them for this stunt.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Joris isn't a kid who acts out or disobeys that often, so seeing Kerubim this pissed off is... very rare. Especially with that anger directed at him.
Tumblr media
To make the argument less severe, he tries to present Kerubim with his new achievements in something that is important to him. So that maybe some semblance of pride for him, will get Kerubim to be less mad.
Tumblr media
Kerubim shuts him down without any explanation, despite knowing how important sport is to Joris because the stress of Joris being in danger, and also deciding to be ~rebellious~ on this day of all days, is genuinely frying his brain.
But from Joris's pov, he's just being shitty. Just really shitty.
Tumblr media
Yet, it is important to note, that at first, he goes along, and leaves Khan. Joris isn't really rebellious as a person.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Another thing that goes deeply wrong with this argument is Kerubim snapping at Joris's idol. Now, he has basically implied that both one of Joris's main interests, and someone Joris loves and looks up to, are worthless to him.
We know that's not what Kerubim means. Kerubim is terrified, and the terror made him angry at Joris, for scaring him further.
Chances are, when he got home and found nobody, his first thought wasn't that he and Lilotte ran away for boufbowl reasons.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But that devaluation is exactly what Joris hears.
Tumblr media
The face journey Kerubim goes on in this shot is very interesting. I really do think Kerubim HATES Joris making up parents. He hates it because he knows the truth, and it hurts him, he hates it because he is his parent, and he hates it because feeling jealous of some imaginary constructs is just pathetic.
But he hasn't really said it out loud because fine, whatever, it's normal for a child to make things up. Doesn't mean it doesn't hurt. Doesn't mean he doesn't think it's stupid, and that it isn't maddening to have this brought up when his mom is hunting them down and might hurt him.
However, Kerubim is a hypocrite:
Tumblr media
"Making up stories" is something Kerubim has done for 10 years, and the fact that half of them are redacted, censored, or just actually made up, is something Joris accepts, — even values.
"Rules for thee, but not for me," is how Kerubim sounds while complaining about this.
Tumblr media
And he's neglected to, uhhh... read Joris's mind to understand the yet unvoiced truth:
Joris despises many things about the way Kerubim treats him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He wants Kerubim to stop touching him whenever he wants to, he wants him to stop calling him whatever the hell he wants, and he wants him to stop lying.
Tumblr media
He would never say this out loud unless he was this mad, because he knows that it will upset Kerubim, and he doesn't want that, because the man is the only family he has, and he's already depressed.
Tumblr media
Kerubim doesn't want him to ever grow up into an adult, become independent, and move out. He likes Joris cute, huggable, "doesn't say no to anything I do to him"-ish, and dependant, because that way, he won't leave Kerubim alone. He isn't exactly subtle about what he wants from Joris, and the only thing Joris can do about this, is just feel angry silently.
This is especially poignant, because we know Joris doesn't look his age, even as a ten-year-old. He gets treated like a small child, both inside and outside his own home.
Tumblr media
Joris, of all the people in the whole world, yelling at him, is how Kerubim understands that he fucked up badly. It's over. It's more than over — he didn't just bomb this conversation, he nuked it.
Joris yelling at him is like a canary in a mine dying. He really hurt him this time.
What follows is, quite honestly, one of the most important moments for Joris as a character. These are things he says angrily, just to hurt Kerubim as much as possible, — yet there's a grain of truth to all of this, they are Joris's actual, real thoughts on their life, just wrapped up in anger.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Joris correctly identifies and attacks Kerubim's three biggest insecurities, — Joris leaving him, his own failures as a father, and their relationship being built on lies from the very beginning.
I think Joris has thought a lot on the ethics of their situation. Kerubim isn't his biological father so... who exactly gave him the right to raise Joris in these conditions, and take advantage of him for the sake of not feeling lonely and unwanted? I am sure, these are thoughts Joris chastised himself for, and yet...
Tumblr media
This is the worst thing Kerubim has heard in the last ten to twenty years. This is his nightmare scenario. Did he miss all these signs that Joris was thinking these things? He hates himself. He just hates himself.
Tumblr media
Joris attacks his weaknesses with a precision only a family member can possess.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is his worst nightmare. And all he can manage to do is fulfil one of Joris's wishes: call him by his actual name, like an equal.
And he really did try to raise him as an equal. Like a best friend. And he failed. Because that's an unattainable goal.

Liveblog - Dofus, livre 1 : Julith [PART 11]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As I've mentioned, Kerubim and Julith have Beef.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As far as she is concerned, whether he was behind her framing (he wasn't) he is one of the people to blame. He defeated her that fateful day, and then she never saw her son again.
Tumblr media
I've already went into detail, on the way "killing" her has affected him, (A mixture of horror and duty. Killing a mother and making a child an orphan for the sake of a city. Being grateful for her dying because it made him a father instead. Feeling awful for that thought.) but it is interesting, how he reacted to her turning out to be alive, when he killed her with his own hands.
Tumblr media
Seething. Perhaps even coping.
Tumblr media
This is chichala, which we had seen. I suppose he uses it to buff himself up before the boss fight. Drinking alcohol before a fight is very much RPG logic.
Sadly, there are no interesting buffs to it in-game:
Tumblr media
I think a lot about the way Kerubim, Joris, and Atcham would be characterized in video game logic, by the way. I still have no working theory of how the hell their fighting styles would synergize. Would Joris be their buffer/debuffer? Their glass canon? Both? And do any of them take ranged weapons on missions...?
Tumblr media
They probably do. It'd be kinda dumb not to. Personally, I like to imagine that Atcham would be the one using those, most of the time. He has that "skyrim stealth archer" vibe to him. (Though they're all melee users, through and through.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Despite how smug he is at a couple of moments, he really was struggling during this fight.
Tumblr media
My honest reaction whenever Kerubim does this fucking face is just:
youtube
This is very much a "deeply mentally ill adoptive father (who inadvertently ruined his child's life by adopting them to atone for his sins + because he was abused as a child) fighting through an army for his child before dying in their arms and saying they're the only good thing he ever had" look for him.
Tumblr media
Another reason that one has to support both women's rights and wrongs when talking about Julith, is that, like.,.. what was she playing at, here? There are two possibilities:
That she would destroy whoever has the dragon's soul and set it free, giving her an advantage.
That Kerubim would shield that person.
Either one is good. :)
Either way she was perfectly willing to risk/attempt blowing up a random, innocent person, who was hiding from her.
Tumblr media
My personal headcanon is that while Julith is physically stronger than Kerubim, she lost ten years prior because she couldn't stop thinking about The Baby. Where were they taking Joris? Did Bakara leave with him? Is Joris alright? Didn't Jahash give him to this cat man, who was now trying to kill her? What the fuck is going on, who did this, why, why, why?
I imagine seeing him lose for the exact same reason brings her great pleasure.
Tumblr media
the nonbinary slay here was insane
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Guys I think this might be bad for Joris's long term mental stability.
On a more serious note, I think there should be more content about Joris fucking hating Julith. During the movie? There's too much going on to work out what he feels.
But after? He has all the time in the world to hate her for everything she did.
I do think that he probably grew up and found whoever framed her to take revenge on/to get justice. But hating her, and wanting to clear her name of the crimes she DIDN'T commit so she could have some peace in death, so that people would stop smearing her name, — are two things that can coexist.
Tumblr media
Like to slap his bald scaly head, reblog to slap his bald scaly head.
Tumblr media
Kerubim never changed his stupid ass baka "George George the Farmer Farmer" name.
Tumblr media
Though we've been knew.
Tumblr media
BAD. I DON'T LIKE THIS.
Tumblr media
AND she recognizes him by the blue eyes. AND, this implies that, for the entirety of the Dofus show, — and the entirety of Wakfu as well, since he, once again, has yellow eyes there, — he had dragon eyes.
Tumblr media
Imagine being Simone, waking up at 3am, realizing because you forgot something in Joris and Kerubim's bedroom, sneaking in, and seeing this.
It also raises some questions about adult Joris, because we know he no longer has Grougalorasalar in him. The easiest explanation is that he spent so much time with the dragon, that after their final separation, his eyes couldn't change anymore.
After all, — the changes the dragon made to his height/skin/hair are permanent. It would make sense that, with time, even his eyes would be permanently altered.
I don't think it's a sad thing, by the way. Imagine going your whole life with beautiful brown eyes that look a bit like your adoptive father's. Then imagine suddenly having blue eyes (scary) and that they're your Dead Father's Who You Never Met but whom everyone misses. Like which pair of eyes would you choose? Because I think there IS a right answer to this riddle.
Tumblr media
I think Julith has convinced herself that whoever took her and Jahash out wouldn't want loose ends, and that Joris was taken out as well, or something. Maybe that's why he wasn't really on her mind.
Mind you, this is a tinfoil hat headcanon.
Tumblr media
This is so beautiful, to me... She was so emotionally stricken by seeing him again as his mother, that his father, who was both fatally wounded and stricken by seeing her perform deeply painful dark rituals on his son after traumatizing him, could land one last hit on her to save said son.
Julith has been a mother for a grand total of a few days to a month, while Kerubim has been for 10 years. Of course, her first concern is getting surprised it's him, and not that she hurt him. Because she couldn't even dream that she'd ever see him again.
There's a tragedy in that. She never even had a chance to learn how to be his mother, or who he is as a person, — she was the mother of an infant. Her love for him is far more theoretical than Kerubim's.
Tumblr media
It's a love for Joris not as a person, but as a lost opportunity.
So she has no regrets about hurting him, — and she will hurt him as many times as it takes, if that's what it takes to get back her family.

Liveblog - Dofus, livre 1 : Julith [PART 10]
Tumblr media
These sweets are so appetizing...
Tumblr media
Due to the way this stall looks, I am assuming that these are types of candy that ouginaks and ecaflips love, and not literal animal food. Tragic.
Tumblr media
Things Joris wants forgiveness for: leaving a bestie with cops (after she asked him to leave), disobeying his father after he folded on their plans for 99th time, telling his father that he's CRINGE and FAIL using his real cringe fail moments, and running away while having a mental breakdown.
Danmn he's so evil and bad for this fr fr......
Tumblr media
Anyway, I think Joris's love language is gift giving and acts of service, and Kerubim's is words of affirmation and gift giving.
(This is wild ass headcanon territory because Atcham is a rarer character, but: Atcham's are acts of service and quality time. Source? It came to me in a vision.)
Tumblr media
The street signs in this movie are killing me.
The Dofus Pets 2 ad says Dofus Pets 2.
Cute ad! It looks familiar though...
Tumblr media
There ain't no way that these two pieces of art don't use some of the same reused assets...., I refuse to believe in that reality.
Tumblr media
Joris is dissociating and Khan is trying to get his dick wet. Their friendship is so special.
By the way, the fact that they cut the "Khan makes/lets Joris do underage drinking, with many horny Khan-loving women present" scene still haunts me. Why? Why must have they forsaken me this way...
I still believe Khan bought Joris alcohol on regular until the guy was finally 18. I want to live in a world where Khan helped suicidally depressed 14yo Joris have a "coffee with cognac in the morning, chicken with cognac in the evening" lifestyle, and it's like one of the reasons Joris is still alive or something.
My other thought on the topic is that Atcham (imagine him being physically 4yo in this scenario), taught Joris how to smoke cigars. And then he had the shit beaten out of him by Kerubim (also 4 years old).
Tumblr media
This is like his 60th divorce.
And he's never even been married.
Man.
Tumblr media
The reaction to the door opening is IMMEDIATE.
Tumblr media
THE PLATONIC DIVORCE #61 HAS BEEN CALLED OFF. But genuinely, it's so cute seeing how happy he is...
Joris thinking these things about him is his worst nightmare. AND the little guy is in danger. So, chances are, for a few hours he spent time thinking about how bad of a father he is, and how it's his fault that Joris is god-knows-where and in danger and also HATES him and will NEVER forgive him.
Tumblr media
AND the disciplinary action he takes is just so chill and cute... (cough-cough, my own thoughts on whether Joris was based for this aren't relevant, because 1. he ran off god knows where and children shouldn't do that, and 2. even though his grievances are valid, he did bring them up as hurtfully as possibly, with some really fucked and irrelevant things too, just to make Keke feel pain at that moment. Which is not something one should get in the habit of.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Your agonized twitching and worried faces have both bewitched me heart and soul.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He's literally still infant/toddler sized... So small, compared to Lilotte...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sometimes, we say horrible things, when we're angry. They love each other so much... They're both willing to look past all the imperfections.... (throws up on the carpet like a cat)
Tumblr media
No commentary, I just like seeing him afraid.
Tumblr media
She and Kerubim have beef, as has been mentioned in many past posts.
Tumblr media
Bakara does her fighting with the same icy, emotionless expression, that she had during her conversation with Kerubim at the bar. This is her "I am going to kill everyone in this building" resting face for when Julith is mentioned.
Tumblr media
Kerubim is SHOCKED by how fast she leaped into combat. Also, I want to think, disappointed. This is too dangerous of an enemy to spring into action like that, simply out of rage, while having literally no combat experience...
Tumblr media
Because like, Kerubim and Julith are veterans of a war/multuiple wars.
While Bakara is a 20~yo, freshly graduated, alcoholic nepo-baby.
Tumblr media
Let it be known I don't like Julith. She is a fun character to watch, but... I feel like the fandom treats her as someone who's done no wrong, despite all the evidence we are given to believe that she is a horrible person.
She was framed, and she did love Jahash, but that doesn't take away from anything else. She beat the shit out of Bakara here, even though she could have restrained her much more gently, — she dug into Bakara's insecurities and called her a poor little fool too.
I really doubt Jahash would have liked that. (Same for her plans of killing a thousand people though, so, I really doubt she gives a shit about his wishes at this point.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She does THIS SHIT. Jesus christ! Maybe, just maybe, she would know of your feelings, because she loves him just as much? Maybe that's why she wants to kill you as much as you want to kill everyone in Bonta? Have you thought about that, you hot topic customer-looking edgelord?
Besides her hypocrisy, she was known for her ruthlessness, even before the war. There's a reason they still call her a butcher. Which is why I kinda dislike how often this stuff is swept under the rug by fans making cute content.
...I do support women's rights, but I also support women's wrongs, and Julith has a lot of those. She's tragic, but also evil.
Unlike someone like Nox, she makes no effort to empathize or connect with people who oppose her, and knows no mercy. At the very least, Nox had a twisted sense of morals, and could whip out an epic "you're just like me fr...." during a battle.

Liveblog - Dofus, livre 1 : Julith [PART 21]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I've already said how weird this whole situation is from Joris's pov, but imagine dying, being given a new body with a way smaller brain and no speech yet, as well as no object permanence, and having to comprehend while in this condition, that your brother, who spent the last 50–80 years trying to hunt you down and make you into a coat, just saved your son from being blown up, and is now dying.
Tumblr media
But you lack the brain capacity to understand any of that. Or remember any of that history.
Tumblr media
You just know that he's hurt, badly, and that you don't like seeing him in pain.
Tumblr media
Joris knows now, that for an ecaflip demigod, it's not that big of a deal to die. At least not the first time.
So it's really more of a "You sacrificed yourself for me?" question.
Tumblr media
He's paying back his debt. He can't be mean to Joris, when all he's done is be nice to him, he's not that kind of person.
Tumblr media
And when he wakes up again, things will be different, between him and Kerubim. Something new is going to happen.
To quote Dofus Aux Tresors de Kerubim: It will have a different taste. A different feel.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kerubim's current lack of object permanence or the idea of death, is both a blessing and a curse, because he has no fucking idea what happened, or where Atcham went. Poor kbitty.
Tumblr media
On one hand, this is inherently traumatic for Joris. He must be tired of watching ecaflip demigods evaporate.
On the other hand, I can't help but feel that this is the moment Joris and Atcham truly begin to love one another. So I can't even feel sad about this moment, like a normal person.
Tumblr media
Chat, this is what I cal coping and perhaps even seething. Joris is inclined to think Bakara is wrong because Bakara fucked up Majorly at this part of the movie. Also because Joris has not slept the entire night. Also because he watched 2 people die. Also Simone is far away. Also what IS Simone to do with a dofus-related issue?
Julith would absolutely have hurt Lilotte. There is absolutely not a single doubt in my mind, that if it got her what she wanted, she would dismember Lilotte as Joris watched.
I don't blame him for making mistakes and fumbling, though. He's like 10.
Tumblr media
If she really isn't that bad... If ALL she wants to do, is to bring Jahash back... If that's what it takes for her to leave Lilotte and Kerubim alone...
Tumblr media
And among all else, if this brings the man she loves back? He doesn't mind, then.
(Puts on a giant, Dofus Aux Tresors de Kerubim themed tinfoil hat)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Joris is a difficult character to read due to his insane multitudes and affinity for lying to everyone and himself.
Due to his passion for wanting to learn about his birth parents, I think spending time with Julith and Jahash is like a dream to him.
But I can't miss the dimension in this interaction that Julith is a scary dark mage called "the butcher", who already killed his father once and then kidnapped his friend, and they are both standing near her, behind him, and she is holding what is essentially the magical equivalent of a nuclear bomb in her hands.
Tumblr media
And the things he says to her may or may not be affected by like, idk, two or three of these factors? Like there might be a slight possibility that he said "I'm sure she wouldn't have hurt you" and "a real family" specifically to decrease the chances of her killing Kerubim and Lilotte. Not sure where I get this idea from, though.
Tumblr media
This is literally the worst day in Kerubim's life as a father. There is literally no going back. Thank god his little kittybrain is going to forget all about this in roughly 3 minutes.

Liveblog - Dofus, livre 1 : Julith [PART 19]
Tumblr media
It is said in the artbook, that the gaslight=gatekeep used on Joris would have been the same exact one as used on Atcham. But really, while Joris does dislike his body, it's good they cut that out:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He has some bigger worries than being bald, having scales, and being bug sized, at this point in the movie.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
How could he possibly be concerned with his own body, when he just lost his father?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Joris doesn't want to see his stupid bullshit visions, but what choice does he have?
He still showed Joris his deepest wish, but with how things have been going, his wish is very different from those of others in this group:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
What he has is a desire to save Lilotte, mixed in with a thirst for revenge towards Julith. She is a demon to him.
Tumblr media
He doesn't even care what he looks like, anymore. And he doesn't have a hope of things going back to the way they used to be.
But he'd like to save Lilotte.
Tumblr media
And, even if it's never said out loud, — even if he himself may not be entirely aware of it, — I think he'd like to kill Julith as well.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
His greatest wish isn't something ecstatic. It leaves him quite distraught.
He hoped to find something to help him save Lilotte, but so far, all that happened, is that he's been forced to face the anger within him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And he's surrounded by idiots who have already forgotten the mission.
Tumblr media
...He's a lot like both of them. Isn't he?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In a way, the composition of the shot here points to the fact that Joris has absolutely no choice in this arrangement. He's quite literally tied.
Tumblr media
I guess nobody ever told this dragon that the road to hell is paved with good intentions. But eh.
Tumblr media
On the topic of good intentions leading to hell, the visage of Joris on the ground, bathed in the light of the dofus is almost religious.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kind of fitting, considering the amount of reverence he has for his father.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The way Joris noses at him is very catlike. Fitting, considering his upbringing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
They love each other a lot.

Liveblog - Dofus, livre 1 : Julith [PART 3]
+ Joris analysis
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Since Simone left, it seems that Kerubim has gotten back into his habit of having weird, sloped bookshelves that look like they are going to kill someone someday.
Also, there are more deadly possessed demon swords everywhere.
Tumblr media
VAX
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So real.
Tumblr media
I think a lot about how aggressively chill Kerubim is about Joris constantly going on and on about his birth parents.
You just know that on the inside he was seething. Just a constant mantra of "it's natural at this age, it's natural at this age," inside his head as he tried to be supportive. While Joris was trying to guess who his dad was, Kerubim was going through an IRL psychological horror game where he would die if he stopped thinking good thoughts.
While I am putting this in my usual funny meme terms, I am enamoured by the messy and uneven nature of Kerubim and Joris's father-son relationship. There's nothing particularly special or unique about the way it hurts them, — but the immortality and fantasy elements really let the usual hurting of a parent-child bond shine. It's all about romanticising the mundane to me.
Tumblr media
I think it shows an interesting disconnect that Lilotte won't call Kerubim "papycha" (and the way, later on in the movie, she does). She doesn't entirely feel like she fits in between Joris and Kerubim, and the dynamic the two have, — which is understandable, because she really doesn't, in my opinion. It's not a bad thing. She and Joris aren't exactly siblings, and Kerubim isn't her dad, — he's a caring adult. It doesn't mean they aren't a family to her, but it does mean she feels awkward. Her dead family, and fear of losing people, aren't exactly helping.
Here's my analysis of the situation:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
From Lilotte's POV, as I've already said it, there is a disconnect from the bond she feels with Kerubim and Joris, and the bond those two have, — as well as how untraumatized Joris is about the whole orphan thing. She doesn't want to get too used to this because this can always end, — and likely, she doesn't want to be forced into a fully familial role, because she doesn't feel that way about Kerubim and Joris.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
From Kerubim's POV, she is an orphan, just like himself and Joris, and he needs to help her any way he can. He'd like it if she lived with them, — instead of living out in the streets, without the safety of the roof over her head. He wants her to feel at home, and become a part of the family, but doesn't have any delusions about "adopting" her as if she were his daughter (his definition of family includes a maid he met 20 minutes prior, a mortal enemy, and a brother who wants him dead, mind you). She's far too old, and she does have a family, even if it is a dead one, while he is perfectly happy with just Joris as his son. Basically, he just wants her to be happy, warm, and fed, but understands that she has her reasons to be wary, and will not overstep her boundaries.
This all is easy enough to imagine or deduce through what we know about their characters. But Joris is a bit more complex, because even as a child, he is kinda emotionally closed-off. So, this following thing is mostly delusion, throwing darts at the wall while blindfolded, and me just straight up hallucinating:
Tumblr media
In my opinion, Joris is not happy about anything that is happening. He needs consistency and stability, and, as a single child of a single parent, he probably feels a certain degree of ownership towards Kerubim. It's likely that he feels jealous, like Lilotte's presence is threatening.
He isn't feeling these things consciously. He doesn't know he is jealous, or that he feels threatened by her presence. A childhood of unknowingly putting Kerubim's emotional needs before his own for the sake of their survival had divorced him completely from his own feelings.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But it does show in the little, subconscious gestures, like fighting with her, or making fun of her, — especially his complete silence on the issue of wanting or not wanting her to move in with them, and the happy reaction he has to her confirming, once again, that she will not live with them. (As well as the way he switches the topic immediately to himself, before Kerubim can attempt to console her about the dead family issue).
Joris tries really hard not to have opinions on things he doesn't like, especially about himself and his feelings.
Tumblr media
It's interesting that Joris needs reassurance here. What we just saw is Kerubim making a grand gesture (a huge, elaborate breakfast) and a plea towards Lilotte, out of his care for her, and immediately, Joris is trying to usurp his attention with a question of whether Kerubim is going to give him a grand gesture too.
And it's not the first time he's asking! (Also yes, I noticed Lou. I was just too busy typing analysis to point her out)
Tumblr media
For a huge part of his childhood, Kerubim neglected him badly (and himself too, the man had clinical depression), so Joris's anxiety and subconscious jealousy is pretty logical.
Tumblr media
Suddenly, despite being his literal father, Kerubim is putting in more effort in caring for Joris's friend than he ever did with Joris himself, y'know?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
AND not to mention, how Kerubim usually keeps his promises (he doesn't, but Joris is used to it.)
Tumblr media
Anyway, the cover says "Brocante". Other text, I am not sure.

Liveblog - Dofus, livre 1 : Julith [PART 14]
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Joris's face here goes hard. His lifelong streak of being disappointed in everything begins here.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
:(
I genuinely have no comment beyond wanting to hug him. And also the fact that the way he says "LEGENDARY BUT DEAD FATHER (derogatory)" is so fucking iconic.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They're a lot alike. No matter how she feels about Joris, or her issues, she's not a fail-aunt.... shes the aunt that Stepped Up. She understands. As she understands, they both lost someone to Julith, and that unites them.
I like to think that, while their relationship post-movie is would probably be turbulent at times, — because they're similar, and hate themselves for similar things, but have different ways of processing these things, — that they were close.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He put on a brave face. But Bakara knows him too well.
Tumblr media
I really doubt that Jahash and Kerubim had a close co-working relationship like Julith and Atcham seem to have.
Here's some conjecture/headcanons: I think that Bakara and Jahash's father has passed away at this point, which is why Joris was given to Kerubim. Kerubim was probably summoned to Bonta/went there to help people of his own volition, despite already being retired. Jahash just had no one else to entrust Joris to, — other than the kind, elderly man who always told stories as they walked to the battlefield during the war.
It's kind of sad.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I wonder what Jahash asked of him. "Find him a loving family"? "Take care of him"? "Keep him safe"? Or was he completely silent?
No matter what he said, or didn't say, Kerubim has always wanted to be a father. Even if, in his old age, he has long accepted that it simply wasn't his fate.
I bet it felt like the world was making a cruel joke on all of their expenses.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kerubim knows what is going to happen to her, going forward.
Do you ever think about the fact that this was the last time Jahash could ever hold her?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He was probably just as outwardly serene, yet utterly devastated, when she was a child, and he could do nothing but watch, as their father saved her from drowning.
As he said in the Julith et Jahash comic: It's why he learned how to help people.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Bakara, for her part, needed much more... with Jahash's departure, her world collapsed."
Tumblr media
He was so scared he couldn't even move. He could only clutch this child closer.
Tumblr media
I think it's easy for him to compartmentalize what happened to Kerubim, while realizing that Lilotte's life is at stake. It's not the time to be emotional. And, he and Bakara have a shared enemy, who killed people they love dearly.
Tumblr media
Another plea from Bakara as a person who is quite sure she was personally orphaned by Julith, to Joris as someone who was literally orphaned by Julith.
And a not-so-subtle implication of "and you have to be one too, this time," is here too, I suppose.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If papycha was in this situation, he would have been brave too. There will be time to be sad, but not now.
When the push really comes to shove, he's pretty good at suppressing his sadness. We've seen this from his meltdown during the argument with Kerubim, and some select moments of Aux Tresors.
Tumblr media
Anyway, do you think Kerubim went back for his stupid hole armour when he could finally form conscious thoughts, and brought it back to Joris's horror, — or do you think that by that time, random other demigods have stolen it, and he had to go on a wild goosechase to retrieve it (so he could keep using it) (while not fixing the FUCKING HOLE IN THE CHEST!!!)?
Tumblr media
His 22 sons and NONE of his daughters. #misogyny
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Someone loved Kerubim as much as Joris does.
