3 years later I'm still pissed off at Mattel cheapening their anniversary dolls like this. ESPECIALLY the movie that started the Barbie Cinematic Universe. So I made my own take on them.

For Eric I changed his hair to gray and added his ICONIC facial hair to resemble the movie version. I greatly prefer his nutcracker form over his human design, I dunno he looks much more handsome that way. I like his base outfit but it needed more oomph so I drew on cuffs and added gold lace to his shoes and the sides of his pants. I darkened his boots to match the rest of his outfit. For his crown I added light blue gems to represent snow.

For Clara I painted a tutu in various shades of pink, blue and purple to give it a rainbow sheen. I cannot draw hair to save my life but I tried to make it curly, yu know make it look a bit more elegant. Her corset resembles her og but with gold trim on the hem of the corset and skirt. I didn't want to make it exactly like the original doll, I wanted to put my own spin on things, so I changed her crown and slippers to gold and put on the same gems to match Eric's Crow. I did the same for the necklace. I blushed her cheeks and darkened her lips to a berry shade like the 2001 version. To complete the look I gave her gloves, stockings and simple pink earrings.

This was a movie that's very personal to me, especially when it helped me heal from covid and kirby morrow's passing. I find it insulting for a million dollar company to shine their dolls in the cheapest, most ugliest outfits.

Doll posting under cut but I finished my faceup :)

I hadn't done one in 2 or so years so I'm very happy w how it turned out :) the mockup vs the stages as I sealed stuff

^ mockup in which I knew I wanted a nudeish pink lip but my art program was fighting me lmao

It's not perfect bc the sealant technique I did definitely trapped some hair in there but Cordulas wig is REALLY floofy so I think it'll cover those spots :) it was fun to turn some of the dust that got trapped into the faceup into little moles and stuff tbh. Now all I have left is to make her BTE hearing aid (which um is going to be a challenge I think but I'll figure it out 👍) and I think she'll be done :) hopefully the clothes I ordered will fit and also come soon but I'm really happy w how she's coming together :) a lot of the vision I had changed for them over time, with their color palette going from oranges and teals to more pink and still hints of those oranges and teals but not as much :) their aesthetic is a lot based off of the 70s because I thought it would be fun :) the colors are definitely not super accurate but I think a lot of the little choices I did during the faceup reflect that or I hope they do at least :)

Angel Doll Head Update!

Even if I got him today I was overly excited and wanted to make a mockup for his faceup this evening. The result of the mockup was well......

My previous post basically said that my original intention was something angelic babyish and ethereal, but........ Okay, I’m not beating around the bush, this mockup looks like Kefka! I like it, but it’s not what I intended originally... Too Venetian Carnivale and Harlequin/Pierrot feeling than the angelic look I wanted at first.... Should I go through with it? I mean it is unique.... Cute angel baby but prettier look or angelic Kefka (but still cute) look, you....... no...... I decide!

🎀- HC that EVE's most normal hobby - when not occupied with other things - is repainting dolls 🎀- Like in a blue moon you can catch her at the hobby lobby in mom jeans and a cardigan just looking for materials

★- In her down time (which is a bit rare these days) Nadia'll pick those ball-jointed Barbie/Bratz/MH dolls and give them a complete makeover ☆- While she's making them she's fervently thinking 'I will love you in a way that no one else EVER has' and she treats them all that way ★- She'll repaint them in the most unconventional ways possible but they're still gorgeous; a perfect reflection of her studio artwork on a body that isn't her own ☆- Sometimes if she's low on fabrics, instead of making a full-sized mockup of her exhibition fits she'll use her dolls to test the outfit design and make a mini version of the fit with small pieces of the final material ★- She's got this HUGE shelf on her pad that's got these fashion icon dolls displayed with their name and inspiration on a little plaque ☆- Whenever something significant happens and she doesn't want to paint, she'll hold onto the feeling, good or bad, and jot down an idea for a new doll's look ★- and she DOES truly love each of them - though she may have had to learn to love one in particular

🎀- She picked up the hobby in college (before she met Zuke) but didn't really think anything of it 🌸- It was just a means to practice different makeup looks and pencil techniques without sculpting something - and it was fun! She liked having a cute little gal at the end of the process 🎀- When she came up with the idea of using the dolls as models, she created a doll of herself but made the decision to make its skin completely white 🌸- When Nadia met Zuke, she sort of put the hobby aside to focus on her other art mediums, but she looked at the doll of herself and felt comfortable enough to repaint the right side pink (and she laughed a bit to herself looking at the final result, because it looked... Cute! Just like her other gorgeous dolls...) 🎀- After Rapturica, she didn't feel the need to create a doll based on her feelings as she didn't feel as hurt as she expected, but she did find it really, REALLY hard to look at the doll of herself, so she hid it away... 🎀- she picked up repainting again later but went in HARD - they began to look more artsy and alien, just like her other art pieces 🌸- After graduating she didn't really have time to repaint dolls and focused on creating other arts/music again, only occasionally using them to test outfits (but never the one of herself) 🎀- After the events of NSR though, she picked it up again as a form of self-care. It's something she doesn't have to create for the public eye, and she's rekindled the joy of creating a strange little gal and loving them despite their bizarre quirks. 🌸- ... I think she feels a bit more comfortable looking at the doll of herself now, too.

★- She's probably still got doll repaint videos up on her channel from her college days, hehe. ☆- (She's debating whether or not to make a mini exhibition about the concept of dolls.* Likely not, as she doesn't want to taint the tranquility of the act, but she still likes the idea. It's better to not mix work art with home art, anyway.) (* (How they can reflect their caretaker, they exhibit both confidence and vulnerability, they can be broken and discarded but repaired, they're still images that can be moved in a 3d space however you desire, they rely on a person to actually be 'real' ykyk that kind of thing. the symbolism of dolls.)

The doodle I made in the 3rd picture (above the cut) is inspired by those really pretty doll repaints... I think that that look in particular is one that she tested on a doll first... pre-ugly cry, that is.

My take on Alwayz Jade 🐱

I love the new outfits but Jade's is my least favorite out of the bunch mainly because she doesn't have a strong motif like the rest does. Like what is this MGA??

And it's just plain ugly.

Like I know what they were going for with the shoes and i kinda like how it isn't your usual bratz heels, but it's ugly! So I'm here to fix it!

The shirt is cute, it gives me Office Siren vibes so I based my new outfit on work/school aesthetic. Edgy Catholic School. My first thougt was to add more pink since that's her classic theme color and the other girls had theirs

Oomph told me her outfit is supposedly themed after alt-punk so I tried to lean into those vibes by giving her a smoky eyeshadow & thicker lower liner. Since Cloe's lips are red I gave Jade a much darker shade. I was aiming for dark berry but eh maroon can work. For the shirt I cut the sleeves and replaced them with white opaque ones tied with ribbons to match her makeup. I made the boots plain, changed the soles to grey and added chains and pink dots.

I also gave her a plaid skirt with chains and made the fishnets longer. Or, keep the fishnets at the thighs and have the rest covered in full black. Completing the look is a choker and headband to match her shirt. I made her bag slightly darker to fit her new makeup.

DELTARUNE; Gargy's Fairytale Theory

So, lately I've kind of had an itch in the back of my mind about DELTARUNE, more specifically the secret or hidden bosses in the game and a little correlation they all share. I'll try to keep this under 100 pages but i promise nothing (tee hee hee)

If you've played the game to the extent you're looking at a tumblr blog dedicated to it, you're probably familiar with the character's jevil and spamton. These are the two characters coined by the community as "secret bosses", since you have to stray away from the games intended path to find them (in most cases.)

When you defeat spamton in his 'NEO form', a neat little song will play with his dialogue "a real boy!", this is a nod to the fable/fairytale "pinochio" I'm sure everyone's familiar with. It's a story about a doll that comes to life in search of becoming 'a real boy'. This corrilation made me realize there are A LOT of similarity's between pinochio and spamton. The strings, his regular form being a mockup of a doll, even his goal to become "big", its almost like becoming a 'real boy'. He knows he's not 'real', and just like at the end of pinochio, he too becomes renewed (reneo'd).

This made me wonder if the other secret boss, Jevil, represented something other than the Joker card. Then I realized whenever he was hit in his fat empty head it actually sprung out like a jack-in-the-box. I initially discarded this since it wasn't really a fable or fairy-tale, but if you do some digging you'll find it actually is!!!@! back in the 1400's somewhat, the jack in the box was originally named 'The Devil in the Box', essentially it's a story about a man who trapped a devil in a boot in order to save a village in france at the time, kinda like that one story about the court jester who got locked away by his magician friend in order to save their kingdom (haha. hahahahha. thats from deltarune. hahaha.) just to run home my point, jack-in-the-box; Devil in the box. Jack; Devil. What way could you fuse them together? Dack? Jackil? maybe some other 3rd way that has some importance to Yea thats right you know you've always known its Jevil.

Obviously, in deltarune fashion, its easy to overthink most elements in the story. Granted, toby will make an entire 2nd game about a hypothetical character you've never met but no you've only ever POSSIBLY met through a 1/100 chance door where he'll show you his asshole and then disappear into a million pieces, but yea, it's easy to make certain correlations that aren't even really there. In this case however I'd say that there's one more correlation that seals the deal that makes this theory WORTH theorizing.

Yea gaster. even though he's not even technically a character yet, every piece of information regarding him seems to lead people to believe he's not only the narrator at the beginning of the game, but he's also the 'man' behind the tree (since the way you find 'his sprite' in undertale is almost exactly similar ['theres a room in-between, theres a room, in-between']). I'm assuming you know what there is to know about gaster so im not gonna go into it, so onto the correlation.

I've read before someone talking about how gaster represents easter eggs in video games, not only physically (egghead) but metaphorically (the way you find him, his implied involvment with the secret bosses, the fact he gives you an '''''EGG''''' when you DO find him). Well if he is technically involved with the secret bosses, wouldn't that make him a fable too? I'm here to tell you he is. he is HUMPTY DUMPTY from SECOND GRADE FAIRY TALE PLAY.

I've already gone over his physical and metaphorical symbolism relating to eggs, but the story of humpty dumpty is also very, haha, hahahaha, hahahhahahaha

All the kings horses and all the kings men (Who did gaster work for again?)

Couldn't put Humpty together again ("He was shattered across time and space")

What could this mean? for the future it means that if this theory is right, EVERY secret boss we meet is gonna represent not only a lightworld object, but an actual FAIRTY TALE, a FABLE. I mean, how many fables are out there. I know theres one in particular, one that the game is named after, one that has to do with an ANGEL. an ''''ANGEL'''' with ''''TATTERED WINGS''''''.

but then again idk

I must confess I was mad at Takara years back for making a doll that didn't really look like Kiki to me. Now I'm having a go at mocking up this imomodoll head and I am humbled.

I've literally traced official art and put the parts onto the imomo head and it doesn't look anything like her!!

Even if I carved off the nose and sculpted a new one higher it doesn't look like her. I mean I knew the head wasn't Shaped On Model but I honestly believed I could coax it into much more of a likeness than this. Apparently I'm an idiot.

I will prolly keep mucking around with mockups, sizing the eyes up and down and seeing what I can make that feels closest. Without actually being on point :/

I guess this is going to be an homage doll instead of the character herself after all. Though it might possibly pass for a younger Kiki ... maybe?

I'm always open to input if you got Opinions

Edit: I will try different screenshots of her too, with eyes positioned a lil calmer. It's hard to find a dead on pose tho, which is why I used this poster as reference

also ive been working on this all day and im very happy with how its turning out so far. this is only the mockup to test the patterns and make alterations to it before using the actual fabric, so it isnt Perfect or as high quality as im hoping the finished one will be, but so far i am VERY happy with how the pattern is fitting the doll and looking together :•3
