I think one of the absolute funniest things is Rhaegar/Lyanna shippers insisting Jon shouldn’t be considered a threat to his siblings and yet they bend over backwards to make Aegon insane or impotent or dead. They try and soften the usurpation, but that’s what it is. More times than less in any pro R/L fic Aegon’s/Elia’s/Dorne’s interests ARE put at risk. And yet Elia and her kids have to hold to modern standards and get along because girl power?????? And if we wanna talk about judging with 21st century standards why isn’t their feminist woke ~Queen Lyanna Stark~ not fighting to get Rhaenys on the throne. Or abolishing the monarchy all together? Everything is always modern standards here and there until it comes to her son not getting the throne.
And who’s going to break it to them that 21st century women also don’t appreciate being cheated on and having their kids put at risk? (Or that the relationship they’re so keen to defend would be crucified by 21st century standards 🤡). You don’t get to pick and choose when those standards are convenient lmao 😂. But their fave was fine picking and choosing where cheating on a spouse and inflicting your bastard on another was acceptable so I guess we shouldn’t expect much 🤷‍♀️.
And this is why im so hesistant to call female ASOIAF characters feminist. You can say that there are feminist themes in their stories, or even that theyre a proto feminist but ANY analysis of the female characters using feminism as we understand it today will fail because quite literally a lot of the women are in situations where if they behave in a ‘feminist way’ and help out another women their own interests (and sometimes lives) are immediatley put in danger.
By this logic Alicent wouldnt be a feminist because she tried to seat her son on the throne over her step daughter. And yet a lot of women in her position would have tried to do the exact same thing because obviously the position of Queen Dowager would give them more power than deferring to a step-daughter who youd been at loggerheads with for years.
Moving back into the fandom issues theres also the problem that in most of these scenarios it has to be Elia, a woman of colour, putting her feelings aside and being a saint to help Lyanna, a white character. Ive very rarely seen people put these expectations back on Lyanna because they can realize that its ridiculous to expect Lyanna to be besties with Mya’s mother and to play mother to Mya. In the same way its ridiculous for Elia to like Lyanna and to mother Jon.
As I’ve said before theres this #girlboss narrow interpretation of feminism when it comes to female characters that I very much dislike which results in people thinking that all female characters have to love each other to be good people. When we say “dont pit women against each other” we mean “dont make two female characters hate each other because they are girls”. Female characters can have conflict between them! They should get treated like men who get to be whole people with flaws and dislike each other rather than being held up as these virtuous pillars of morality.

I have soup in my cute brain right now it's full of thoughts I dont want there so lemme put thoughts I want in there. Let's improve the broth.
I started out my lobcorp fan life cycle not really remembering the Sephirot and only really being drawn towards the abnormalities because I like monsters and creatures and Beings. There being two space-themed ones with sparkles and a magical girl that's pink helped.
I think the first name I memorized concretely was Netzach's, but I assigned that name to Yesod's face because I'm not that clever. Now let me tell ya I had no idea what to think at the time they were just there. I looked up lobcorp on tv tropes and read the character pages One Time Each.
But then. Studying. And I had decided malkuth was the boring one and I liked hod better. I thought hod was just malkuth bit better. I even made one of those "dont pit the Sephirot against one another! Netzach is FUNNY, chesed is CONSIDERATE, malkuth" type posts. But then I made my first iteration of the malkuth dr pepper blog and. I started forgetting Hod even existed.
I got into Ruina real late into its life cycle (if it can be called that) but once that started I got more reasons to love malkuth. I started really really really relating to her. Call me a kinnie, I care not. But then I discovered Hod's funny bleed floor and never forgot hod ever again (so far).
But later on my focus and love the Corp of Lobs was on the employees. You can blame wonderlab for that, too. I made a few nugget OCs with the power of sprite editing (a hobby of mine; I have some old kirby comics that would knock your socks off) before but once I saw wonderlab it was like my eyes were put in a blender (but they're made of metal so it's ok). Employees good. And even before that I did get a teeny bit miffed that they dont talk about the librarians often.....not even just the nuggets the LIBRARIANS, who arent roland and angela. I dont mind roland but I really do hate to see a girlboss winning and I dont like Angela a lot. Also I wanna see more Momence with Malkuth than just the like. Five.
.......I dunno projmoon taught me math. Taught me to compare numbers. That's gotta be somethin'
Why do I have so much to say??? Well it's been a bit. Anyway enjoy the broth. Soup.
