The opening page of Flashpoint Beyond #0 depicts a blackboard at the Vanishing Point, headquarters of Rip Hunter and the Time Masters, plainly stating that 5G has been averted alluding to Dan DiDio’s despised flop of a relaunch was once the future of the DC Universe.
Tumblr media
By the end of the miniseries after confirmation that Dark Crisis is behind the characters currently holding a conference, Time Master Bonnie Baxter explains how the fabric of reality has been written and rewritten so many times that each pass creates another Mandela Effect in the surviving people.
Tumblr media
It seems the events of Doomsday Clock and Dark Nights: Death Metal goofed with the timeline so badly that Clark, Wally, and Damian would turn evil, crazy, or some combination of the two, but it seems that’s not all that it did.
Tumblr media
Dr. Manhattan and the Batman Who Shops Exclusively at Hot Topic somehow spliced together the dystopian future seen after the event Forever Evil in Teen Titans and Superboy with the current continuity, causing the current future history in the DCU to shift from the New 52 Superboy being pivotal in the creation of the Legion of Super-Heroes to Jonathan Samuel Kent taking on that role which is another step even further altered from the Pre-Flashpoint fact of Clark himself being the first Superboy from the Legion.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Or as I surmise in my essay, the New 52 Superboy who currently believes he IS Jonathan Samuel Kent did so, but may soon remember who he really is.
Tumblr media
What’s hysterical to me is this makes the editorial commentary so that the Legion of Super-Heroes book that gave us an icky Saturn Girl who planted the mental suggestion in Jon to be her boyfriend and 5G itself was predicated by the dystopian future that produced Harvest and his psychotic champion, Jonathan Lane Kent. The bleak future that was revealed in Brian’s Legion to have had planet Earth broken and humanity living in multiple colonies among the stars, where Damian Wayne was an infamous historical figure analogous with Adolf Hitler and was the result of Dan DiDio’s beloved brain child, is in the same league as the plot of a Teen Titans/Superboy run that is universally despised. To have DC themselves makes this connection has me cackling.
Tumblr media
P.S. I see that "Beware" line on the chalkboard, and I know what I think those pronouns are referring to.

Watching everyone flip out SNW is like watching a train derail. Like this is why I don't interact with the Spirk/Tos side of star trek. I have so far seen some ridiculous comments from Kirks new actor should be heavier and should basically just Shatner again to Spock is GAY as if it was ever confirmed in canon other than a one off joke in lower decks.
How about instead jumping straight down the writers throats for a story we don't even know yet. We wait a see. If Kirk turns out to be an Aos style interpretation, what is actually wrong with that. If Spock turns out to be straight, bi, pan, gay what does it actually matter when all anyone is going to do is retcon things through fanfics and fanon. LIKE NO SHIT HE IS WITH T'PRING THEY ARE ENGAGED. God forbid this might be a decent coming out story or a story about struggling with sexuality.
I don't know y'all, this is all just giving me flashback to how Michael was treated when she was announced in Disco and now look how beloved she is

ehehe hi love :> hephaestus & titans for the lil ask game? 💜
Oh hohohohoh do I have a rant about art incoming dkfjhasljfjdsal
Hephaestus- What is your favourite form of art?
Ok! so i have some very strong thoughts about surrealism. One, I absolutely love love love the 'pure psychic automatism' that Breton spoke of in one of the surrealist manifestos. I believe Freud and his dream interpretations laid the basis for it (I could be wrong it has been a long time since I took Art History). So 'Pure psychic automatism' was basically "“psychic automatism in its pure state, by which one proposes to express—verbally, by means of the written word, or in any other manner—the actual functioning of thought. Dictated by thought, in the absence of any control exercised by reason, exempt from any aesthetic or moral concern.”
this was at first usual kept to writings but I believe Max Ernst really brought in the visual aspects that were picked up by people like Dali.
Two, and the main reason I love surrealism is it is just unfettered from 'normal' art. You just let your mind wander and either write or draw your meaning in whatever pops up. Some of my favorite surrealists are Dalí
The Hallucinogenic Toreador, uses a technique called 'paranoiac-critical method, which basically is the artist invoking a paranoid state in the viewer from what I remember.
Tumblr media
The other artist I really love is Zdzisław Beksiński. His work is usually split into two periods, one is a utopian realism that focuses on the doomsday like landscapes and architecture and the other is more abstract figures. Personally I love the utopian realism.
i don't remember if this one has a title but this is a fucking amazing piece.

My #1 post of 2022
2022 Reading list
Started the year off with Space Opera by Catherynne M. Valente. Really loved the idea of this no name band is a fucking bop in outer space XD. Really good light read and fun, basically space eurovision but instead the prize is you get to live.
Then I read 1984 by George Orwell, fucking god I love this book so much. The themes are just peak, the fact that we are basically living in this timeline is just peak like wow. Five stars. Great book. Take it from the random internet person.

Big Finish Audio Masterpost
Part One: The Doctors
I’ve been working my way through a big chunk of Big Finish audios, so I’m putting here my space for all the ones I’ve listened to (with a rating out of ten), what I’m currently listening to, and what I’ve still got to get through (although I listen to some of them sporadically, so there may be random listens in sections). I’ll be updating this as I go along.
This part is for all the main stories featuring the Doctor. Put in reverse Doctor order because wibbly wobbly.
[x] = Listened to
[ ] = Not listened to yet
I’m no proper reviewer, but if anyone wants reviews or opinions on some of these, I’ll be happy to provide 👍

Attack on Titan Chapter 97 Review
youtube
This is my first review of Attack on Titan chapter. I actually wanted to start it back in the last chapter release, but I didn't have much time to prepare so I hold it off until this chapter. I was under impression that the flashback will continue to cover the entire chapter. To my surprise, the flashback ends and the intriguing setup begin.
Since this is my first review, I should mention that Reiner is my favorite character of the series. His backstory is tragic and depressing to read through, and this chapter doesn't do any favor. His backstory doesn't come from the fact that he lost his family like how you see in many other series. He's just a lost soul that's trying to find a purpose, but this chapter shows that he's struggling between finding it and ending it.
The flashback does end here, but not without a depressing note. Reiner, Bertolt, Annie had been living on Paradis Island for a while, yet they still have to set their plan in motion. It’s interesting that they thought of everything before going to the last option. It’s surprising that she met Kenny before and managed to run off. It’s cruel that he was indirectly mocking the thought of a father figure; as if he was taunting her.
The eerie vibe becomes apparent when they discussed about their only plan to do: destroy the Wall Rose. The plan makes a lot of sense on why they attacked it, especially the timing. Now it is clear on their action; they got desperate and they have to get something back for their country.
Annie’s warning to Reiner about his friends may be killed is unsettling. She has been distance herself to avoid any connection as the other two fitting in like genuine friends. Reiner is challenged with that thought, even if he continuously said that he has no friends. “Win at all cost” they say. It’s rather sickening to put a mission from people who have little to no care to anyone over genuine friendship with those who share the same passion.
The most depressing part is the mixture of compilation scenes from the past and the beloved friendship between Reiner and Eren. It’s baffling that Eren’s character is tainted by people that think he’s always screaming and seek revenge, when reality, there’s more to him. He was not always strong will; he believes he was but can’t maintain it. The connection between him and Reiner is genuine that I still wish that betrayal was just a nightmare.
What makes it saddening is how they can easily relate with their problems, even if they are technically against each other. The fact Reiner encouraged him to continue to press forward and become stronger to end all titans is touching. The mixed of past events made it painful to see them bonding. All the moments could have been avoided if he ignored the mission. All the moments could have been altered with them remain as friends, despite Reiner being the cause of all evil within the Wall. It’s already too late.
It got far worse with the present Reiner ready to commit suicide. That image alone punched me really hard. The struggle between life and death is surreal and impacting to his character. It finally has gotten to this point of his life, which I am amazed that it took this long for him to suggest this approach. His life is a god awful mess; if only this series is all sunshine and rainbow, I wouldn’t mind his redemption and end on a happy note.
His only reason to live now is for the next generation, which works with its genre. It just happened behind a lot of deaths, violence, and dark elements. The past chapters have really got me sympathetic for him. If it wasn’t for Falco, he probably would have died there. It’s pretty distressing to follow him like a main character. I have seen enough.
The most interesting part is with Mr. Kruger. First of all, there is a really nice conversation between him and Falco. I thought they have a good connection as friends. It’s good to know Falco’s character before this, because we understand his struggle and pressure he’s feeling after being told to save Gabi by surpassing her. The problem is his inability to do so as well as time limit. Reiner placed him in a tough position, while Kruger placed him in a hopeful one.
The chapter does a really good job to avoid his eye contact in nearly every panel. Falco felt hopeless until Kruger teaches him the thought of war. It’s eerily familiar to what Reiner said to Eren. It’s based on moving forward, only used in a war scenario. It’s about stepping further; whether you see something rewarding or endless hell. No one will know until they take that giant leap. It’s eerie but truthful thought of war. The one page panel is the striking moment because we finally got to see his eye; no doubt it’s Eren Yeager.
It’s amazing that someone has theorized the thought of Mr. Kruger being Eren, and it’s now true. I know it has not yet been confirmed, but you connect the dots and you’ll see it. It is noticeable by his story on war; it fits his character very well. He may be lying about hating his people, but I do believe he was genuine about his advice to Falco. Hell is coming to Marley.
Speaking of hell, the setup for the next potential explosive event is already starting. The Head of Tybur Family, Billy, confronts with Commander Magath about the country needs a hero. His family does hold the War Hammer Titan; that name is so cool. It does sound reasonable to arrive since things are getting hectic for both of them especially that they have to defeat the people at Paradis Island. They are going to reveal the secrets at the upcoming festival; the timing to attack couldn’t be any more perfect.
The ending suggests that hell is brewing and everyone at Marley is going to get it. Kruger has sent Falco to send a letter to his “friends” to let them know that everything is fine. It’s sad that Falco looks cheery and potentially helping his enemy to create doomsday for his people. At least he and Gabi aren’t Titans, so I hope they are spared. The plan is now in motion; I can’t wait to see the blood bath.
The visual is pretty good with the essence on the impactful scenes. The flashback scenes are depressing with the montage and the defining moment of Reiner’s friendship with Eren. The unsettling images of Reiner’s attempted suicide got me feeling awful for him. It’s disheartening to see how close he was to kill himself before Falco reminded him of his purpose. The up-close shot of Kruger’s face is significant enough to truly believe that he is Eren. I just know he is.
It’s a pretty good informative and character’s emotional driven chapter. The flashback ends on a sad note, Reiner’s character continues to depress me, thought-provoking conversations from all fronts, and the ending that screams, “Hell is coming.” It’s only matter of time.

More Than Words Can Say (Ten x Rose, pregnancy fic)
The Doctor found Rose on the couch in the library, surrounded by a pile of books about pregnancy. He leaned against the door and watched her for a moment, still trying to take in the fantastic notion that they were having a baby.
Anywhere You Are (Ten x Rose, established relationship)
Rose looked at the Doctor after Ida waved awkwardly and closed the door to their tiny quarters. “Another night, another strange bed.”
The Same Old Story (Ten x Rose, post Doomsday)
The Doctor tapped his fingers against his leg as the lift took them from the top of Torchwood Tower to the lower levels. He just wanted to be at home with Rose, preferably in bed as they celebrated their unlikely victory. It was easy to imagine how differently the day could have gone, and he was desperate to hold his wife until it sank in that she hadn’t fallen into the Void.
No Matter What the Future Brings (Ten x Rose, sequel to The Same Old Story)
An hour after leaving the Powell Estate behind, the Doctor and Rose were spooned together in bed as the sweat from their lovemaking cooled their skin. When he closed his eyes, the Doctor could still picture Rose falling to the Void, as had almost been her fate. But now he could also picture the way her eyes had fluttered shut as she’d fallen over the edge into ecstasy, and he focused on that image instead.
The Ghost of Kisses Yet to Come (Ten x Rose Doomsday angst)
The worst part of losing Rose was the memory of all the things they hadn’t shared. In the few short months they’d been lovers before Torchwood had stolen her from him, he’d managed to cross off many dreamed-of kisses, but there were still hundreds on his list.
Death Cannot Stop True Love (Ten x Rose, Doomsday fix)
Online and locked.
The suction of the Void, which had dwindled to not much more than a strong gust of wind, returned to full strength immediately. Daleks and Cybermen soared through the air into the open breach, but the Doctor ignored them all. Every atom of his existence was focused the woman clinging to the lever on the other side of the room.
Bound By Time: Being a Tale of Hearts Entwined by the Hands of Fate (Ten x Rose, purple prose, last chapter adult
Her name was Rose.
The words, which had been torn from his as painfully as his beloved, echoed in the console room. The Doctor tried not to look at the empty space, as empty as his hearts now that she was gone, but it seemed the fates were determined to hammer him with the waves of agony, and his gaze landed unerringly on her favourite purple shirt.
Better With Two? (Ten x Rose, post GITF conversation)
The Doctor hoisted himself up from underneath the console, groaning a bit when he rolled his shoulders. There was more he could do, but six hours was too long to stay hunched over like that.
On the Same Page (Ten x Rose, pre Idiot’s Lantern conversation)
Voices drifted through the flat door, reaching the Doctor’s ears as he returned from the shops with the groceries.
“Are you sure you want to keep travelling?”
The Doctor had his sonic screwdriver in hand, ready to unlock the door, but at Jackie’s question, he froze.
All I Need (Tentoo x Rose, on Bad Wolf Bay)
The Doctor needed Rose Tyler. It was one of the basic facts of the universe—of every universe. Water is wet, bananas are good, and the Doctor needs Rose Tyler.
Kiss and Tell (Ten x Rose, pre-relationship
The day after the Coronation, Rose disappeared back to her room as soon as breakfast was done. “I want to talk to Mum, and take a bath, and do my nails… I just need a day for myself,” she explained to the Doctor.
Old Friends, New Promises (Ten x Rose, established relationship, School Reunion rewrite)
The Doctor groaned softly when Rose’s fingers combed through his hair, massaging the sensitive skin at the nape of his neck. He dropped his lips to her neck and laved his tongue over her clavicle, grinning when her head tilted back to give him more access.
Memories and Promises (Tentoo x Rose, proposal fic)
Rose sighed and pushed her plate away, dinner only half-eaten.
“Are you feeling all right, love?” the Doctor asked as he cleared the table.
Just the Bits In Between (Ten x Rose, established relationship, GITF rewrite without the squicky bits)
When Rose woke up the next morning, naked and wrapped in the Doctor’s arms, she thought she was dreaming for a few seconds. He soon proved, very thoroughly, that her memories of the previous night were absolutely not the product of an overactive imagination, and she happily accepted the change in their relationship.
At Last (Ten x Rose, Idiot’s Lantern first kiss)
Rose knew she was being rude. She knew she was ignoring the person talking to her because she couldn’t stop glancing down the street, wondering when the Doctor would arrive.
Just One Word (Nine x Rose soulmates au that is finished)
Soul marks. Not everyone got them; they only came if you were so inextricably connected to your partner that you’d never be able to be with anyone else, not even if they died. To a young Rose Tyler, the idea had seemed hopelessly romantic.
In the Shadow of a Ghost (Ten x Rose, Martha POV)
Martha pursed her lips as she listened to the Doctor explain what his precious Rose had done to save Jack’s life. The reverence in his voice was obvious—a Time Lord might have become a vengeful god with that much power, but he clearly worshipped this girl like she was his goddess.
Holding Onto Forever (Ten x Rose, post reunion)
Consciousness stole over Rose softly, like a warm glow slowly getting brighter behind her eyelids. The novelty of easing into wakefulness was enough to wake her up; she hadn’t had a lazy morning in bed in years. Her life was a series of alarms and appointments, all designed to get herself home.
Projected Longing (Nine x Rose, Ten x Rose, telepathy and Bad Wolf)
The Doctor watched Rose out of the corner of his eye while he set the coordinates for their next trip. She was dressed in jeans and a white vest today, somehow looking both confident and vulnerable.
Forever and Never Apart (Ten x Rose, established relationship, telepathic bond)
At first, Rose thought the Christmas carols were part of her dream. She and the Doctor were dancing again, just like they had on the Titanic a year ago—only this time, without the threat of a nuclear apocalypse getting in the way.
And a sneak peek for @lastbluetardis
There was one thing Rose hadn’t considered when she’d accepted the Doctor’s proposal, she reflected six weeks later.
Jackie’s strident voice filled the small chapel. “No, this isn’t nearly big enough for the number of guests we’ll have.”
-----
So. Patterns. I have a slight preference for Doctor POV--12/21 versus 8/21 for Rose. I write a lot of established relationship fics--15/21. I apparently like to start with at least one of them in bed, or with them snogging--5/21.
The biggest pattern hasn’t changed in all the times I’ve done this meme. I start with character. I try to give some clue about setting in the opening paragraph, but the most important thing to me is that you know where the characters are emotionally at the beginning of the story. That’s very indicative of the kind of stories I write, I think.

Episode 109 : Sunny Days, Dark Times
"If you mad, take it up with God, it's how he designed me"
- Havoc
My goodness, it was tough to get this episode completed - but here we are, celebrating the ninth birthday of the podcast! Thank you all for your continued support; it's knowing that you're waiting for the show every month that keeps it going :)
As mentioned on the show; RAICES (Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services) could make very good use of donations right now.
Beatnuts show, September 19th, Whiskey Jar, Manchester - catch me on the wheels in the early going!

Playlist/Notes
Nas ft. The-Dream & Kanye West : everything
It seems that seven-track albums are the style right now. I still need to give "NASIR" some more listens, but this song stood out by a mile to me on the first hearing. I'm not here for Kanye West right now but he and his team do nail the production on this one, and he and The-Dream knock the sung vocals out of the park. Nas' mostly solid rhymes, with some gems in there (especially the third verse), are somehow my third favourite thing on this song, which is at least partially due to the seeming anti-vaccine sentiment in the second verse. He's either wrong, or just dropped some clumsy lines - you be the judge.
Power Glove : E-240
Power Glove are an Australian who the gamers amongst you may know their work from the soundtrack of "Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon". They're mostly known for 80s-style synthwave, but this has more of a chilled 90s vibe, which I think they execute really well. You can get this on their "EP II".
Agallah : Don't Wanna Be The Last
I think this was the track that made me go back and check the catalogue of the group who were sampled by Agallah for this beat! This is taken from his "Doomsday" mixtape and has been a favourite of mine ever since I was bumping it in a red Corolla like the Puerto Rican driver in Masta Ace's "Born To Roll" and the "J.A.N" re-record :)
Rapsody : Special Way
Going with another repurposed 80s ballad on this one, with Khrysis on production. A song of love, delivered in Rapsody's flawless style, this is yet another great track from "She Got Game". Have you got yourself a copy yet?
Rakim : Remember That
I really didn't appreciate "The 18th Letter" enough when it first came out, but I keep going back to it and finding tracks I unjustly overlooked. This particular one finds Rakim reminiscing over his early experiences of Hip-Hop and the NYC club scene of his youth, with DJ Clark Kent supplying the beat.
Devin The Dude : Gotta Be Me
I can't say I can relate to the smoking experience, but this is a tune I enjoy nonetheless! This is the title track of his seventh album, with Cozmo basing the instrumental on a classic soul number, and Devin's lyrics making the whole thing a great summertime tune.
The Mouse Outfit : Children Of The Stars (Instrumental)
Just the beat from one of my favourite tracks on the "Escape Music" album - gorgeous production work. Do pick up that album if you don't already have it, along with their latest release "Jagged Tooth Crook".
Jasiri X : The Whitest House
You can always rely on Jasiri X to be the man with the take on current events, and this is a heavy one. It opens with a sample of the author and educator Ta-Nehisi Coates before the beat drops in and Jasiri tackles the evils of the Trump regime. As usual, the best place to get his singles is on his Bandcamp page.
The Alchemist ft. Mobb Deep : Carved In Stone
A longtime favourite of mine from the excellent "Insomnia" compilation, with raw Mobb rhymes (including this month's epigraph), and Alchemist killing it on the beat - I don't know where he got the sample, but it's a great one. Listen closely and you'll hear it's an example of a no hi-hit drum part, with kicks and handclaps along with some low tom-type rolls making up the entirety of the drum programming. Rhyme-wise, the late great Prodigy opens things up but I think Havoc absolutely shines here!
Smoke DZA & Pete Rock : Last Name
Given the names of the two artists who created the album, "Don't Smoke Rock" is just the best possible name. Apparently a new album is on the way, but for now have a sample of the first collaboration. The beat isn't one that immediately makes you think of Pete Rock but obviously has the quality, and it suits the MCing perfectly. Smoke DZA does have a kind of smoked-out vibe, but is right on top of things at the same time here.
Blu & Nottz ft. Exile : The Man
I don't know if it's just me, but the first verse sounds very different to the other two - and is clearly the best! Blu & Nottz' "Gods In The Spirit, Titans In The Flesh" is a new release but essentially a merge of two separate EPs that the pair had previously released, with this track originally being on "Titans In The Flesh". Nottz, though mostly known as a producer, gets on the mic here to close the track and definitely shows he belongs, but Blu just kills that first verse.
A Kid Called Roots : Hip-Hop
He may not be a household name, but A Kid Called Roots (I presume it's like A Tribe Called Quest or A Pimp Named Slickback, you say the whole thing) has quietly produced for quite an array of artists, from Canibus to Xzibit. This beat is from the 1997 "Hydra Beats Volume XIII" collection, with ten tracks from this producer - all named after a producer or executive, except this one, it seems!
DJ Jazzy Jeff ft. The Trinity: Wide Awake
The third instalment of the "Magnificent" series seems to have quietly snuck out, but it's an album well worth checking out! Rhymefest, Dayne Jordan, and Uhmeer make up the on-mic crew for this track, with crystal-clear rhymes over lush production. A nice extra touch is Jeff's scratching with a famous sound much beloved by the turntablists of the world!
The Foreign Exchange : June
It's somehow unfair that Phonte is such an amazing MC and got that singing voice, but we're the beneficiaries when he gives us stuff like this! Phonte and Nicolay's joint project has gone from strength to strength, with this new single being another gem in their catalogue. The low notes give us the high point of the production, with Nicolay killing it on the synth bass!
Children of Zeus : All Night
Last month we had the A-side of this single, but I just couldn't resist that "You're A Customer" sample after all! Konny Kon and Tyler Daly each shine at what they're best known for on this cut, with the overall result feeling like (in my opinion) a super-upgraded version of what some of the R&B/rap combination tracks were trying to do in the late 90s/early 00s. Big tune, and one which sets the table for the release of the long-awaited debut album "Travel Light" in July!
Smith Brothers : Real Live
Nothing conscious or pretty here, just pure gangster business from Smoothe Da Hustler and Trigger Da Gambler as The Smith Brothers (they actually are the Smith brothers in real life) on this 2000 single. I thought the beat here was a good one to blend to from the CoZ track, with the staccato synth line and tough drums. I only have this as a promo 12", which unfortunately doesn't have a production credit printed, but DR Period might be a reasonable guess.
DJ Spinna : Let It Speak
It's always a good time to play some Spinna, and with him being under the weather recently, right now it's doubly so. Dope beat from the "Unpicked Treats Vol 1" compilation.
Mobb Deep : Play
This may be one of the only ever completely radio-friendly Mobb Deep tracks! I don't think this is a well-known one, but I originally heard about it on the Juan Epstein podcast. From the soundtrack of the Keanu Reeves film "Hardball", this one sees Prodigy and Havoc doing it for the kids but absolutely maintaining their own rugged style. If you ever stumble upon the original sample, I think you'll enjoy that track too.
Please remember to support the artists you like! The purpose of putting the podcast out and providing the full tracklist is to try and give some light, so do use the songs on each episode as a starting point to search out more material. If you have Spotify in your country it's a great way to explore, but otherwise there's always Youtube and the like. Seeing your favourite artists live is the best way to put money in their pockets, and buy the vinyl/CDs/downloads of the stuff you like the most!
Check out this episode!
