1/2 Could you explain the bottom/top roles in wlw relationships. I don’t really understand how someone can be strictly one or the other because based on what you’re doing the top isn’t gonna get that much pleasure? Okay so…first of all your message is kind of only working under the assumption that all wlw havevaginas (and all mlm have penises). However… trans and intersex people exist. And so do strap-on dildos. And fingers. So really, if we’re talking about penetration - anyone has a chance to penetrate their partner one way or another (given that the partner wants it).

That being said, it’s important to note that very few people are exclusively tops or exclusively bottoms. Many people may be leaning to one of those two things but in most sexual relationships the people involved don’t take any clear roles for the entire duration of their sexytime. Instead they’ll just take turns in who is giving and who’s receiving the pleasure (or the pleasure is just mutually given and received - #doubledildo 👀).

In their very strict definition “top” and “bottom” really only refer to anal sex between two men and describe who is the one giving (top) and who is the one receiving (bottom) penetration. Those terms have become somewhat synonymous with the kink-terminology “dominant/submissive” (though it’s not really the same thing as top/bottom) over the years and are being used for all kinds of gender combinations. By now it’s been kinda watered down to “who gives the pleasure” (be it penetration of the anus or vagina; oral stimulation; fingering…) and “who receives it”.

Going back to role distrubition: as I said, very few people are exclusively only tops. What you are probably referring to in terms of wlw is often also called “stone” or “touch-me-not” - someone who only wants to give. The bottom-equivalent would be “pillow princess” - someone who only wants to receive. Sometimes the reason these women do not want to be on the receiving end and exclusively want to top their partners is due to sexual trauma (EDIT: or gender dysphoria) - though I’d be careful to say that that’s always the case. I’m sure there’s people out there who are just like that for not grand reason. And that’s fine. They just gotta learn to communicate their boundaries very clearly.

But anyway - “stone”/”touch-me-not” as well as “pillow princess” are the extreme versions of top/bottom and relatively rare. Most people, even if they prefer one of these roles, will eventually swap places with their partner. But from the personal experience of someone who likes to top, I can tell you that the act of topping itself does give pleasure to the top as well. There’s a lot going on in terms of psychological arousal and - when you don’t have your own penis and might therefor be wearing a strap-on there’s also friction and pressure that can feel very good.

So, don’t think that tops don’t get pleasure from topping (or sex in generel). They might shift into a bottom-role after a certain point (like, after their partner has orgasmed) or they might pleasure themselves to get off. I also think it’s important to note that for people who are tops (or top-leaning) one of their greatest source of arousal is the act of topping. Like, the thought of doing ~the stuff~ to their partner is The Best Thought! So it’s not like a top is missing out on anything when they get to top bc that’s exactly what makes them horny.
