i just really wish that the erins did something with the plot point of the Three being reincarnated ancient cats other than just the jayfeather/jay's wing stuff. i wanna know more about dove's wing and lion's roar, do their lives have any parallels with dovewing's and lionblaze's? did they choose to be reincarnated? why dont lionblaze and dovewing learn about this like they could do something interesting there with lion and cinderheart bonding over that or having different views or something

Refs for all the ancients!!!! in order:

Half Moon - Hollyhock [they/them] - Dove Wing - Jay Wing - Fallen Leaves - Roaring Lion

Jay and Dove are siblings as per canon, but Dove ends up adopting Lion after his bio mom dies. Moon and Hollyhock have a bit of a doomed yuri thing going on. Also Fallen Leaves is a sweetheart but he's dead for most of the plot :(

New designs for the Ancient Three for my Dove and Lion book! Jay is based off a stellar/mountain jay, Lion is based off a cougar, and Dove is. There. This took forever!!! oh wait I just remembered, Dove's ears are based off a eurasian eagle owl's ear tufts!

Wait so if each of the Three are connected to the seasonal gods, then is Dovewing connected to the spring god?

Why yes! Yes she is!

Dovewing is connected to Midnight, God of Spring and Beginnings. I am also Probably going to be making her ancient incarnation someone who is not called Dove's Wing... or changing her name after a big event.

She may end up being Half Moon, and she goes to lead the cats away from the Lake, becoming the first Stoneteller and founder of the Tribe.

It would work out well, since the Tribe is now getting a MASSIVE buff with Stonetellers who're immune to abnormal statuses, regularly living well into their 30s and able to perform seyonces.

so imagine;

The Three being reincarnations because the original lake cats, the Ancients, didn't leave the lake territories over a vote about twolegs

but because there was something dark and spiteful that lived at the lake

not a creature in itself, but something at the lake boosted dark and spiteful spirits and had a tendency to bring out the worse in the living

and instead of being born at different times, Jay's Wing, Dove's Wing, and Lion's Roar were about the same age [not exact, but Lion's Roar only being a little younger than Jay's Wing and Dove's Wing]

and these three volunteered to try to stop whatever had darkened the heart of the lake [the heart of the lake being metaphoric, not literal] but when that failed, Jay's Wing found himself dying and knew that the cats needed to leave

he didn't know where

but it was better than staying and dying

yet Jay's Wing never got to see where the others ended up

he dies on the journey

but before he passes, he and Dove's Wing and Lion's Roar make a promise

that one day, should it be possible, they would return to the lake with enough power to shake the stars from the sky

and during all this

Jayfeather still sees this all through Jay's Wing

but it's more of a 'I can't control what's going on and I'm just witnessing whatever this body is doing' vaguely horror-ish thing

Headcannoning any of The Three can go hard as fuck

because Jayfeather, Lionblaze and Dovewing are reincarnations of Jay's Wing, Lion's Roar, and Dove's Wing

so like imagine Dove's Wing reincarnating into Dovewing and Dovewing being born a tom becomes transfem

I just think it would be really cool

also I think its funny that I headcanon Lionblaze as transfem and then I made this post which would suggest a transmasc Lionblaze

Shattered Ice, Night, and Dew from early Riverclan. Then Chasing Clouds and Rising Moon, Half Moon's parents, Broken Shadow and Stone Song, Fallen Leaves's parents, and Rock. Shy Fawn and Dark Whiskers are Lion's Roar's parents, Falling Rain and Falcon Swoop are Jay Wing and Dove Wing's, Whispering Breeze is Falcon Swoop's sister. Furled Bracken was the leader before Half Moon, and Jay Frost is just Jay Frost. Flower Stream was not part of the ancient Tribe, only mentioned in Moth Flight's Vision.
