As I've talked about previously, I desperately want to reread the entirety of ASOIAF, but I am accountable to no one but myself, and I know that gal's a softie and won't hold me to it.

That's where you (hopefully) come in.

Let's read together!

I'm planning to start reading A Game of Thrones beginning Monday, June 1. Another poll said that people would prefer to take 6 weeks to read the book (which is perfect for me because I'm juggling this with a full time job and a two year old) and have set chapters/pages to read each week. This averages out to one to two chapters each day with a breakdown below for each week (In the mass market paperback, this is about 19 pages a day or 134 pages a week). Since GRRM doesn't do chapter titles, I've broken it down by the character name and which of their chapters it is (so if it's the second Arya POV chapter, it's called Arya II).

Depending on interest, interaction, and my own motivation, we'll see about continuing with the other books. It's my hope to reread the entire series over the next few months, so y'all gotta keep me accountable :)

Gay Books in My Grocery Store? More Likely than You Would Think

So the part they don’t tell you about growing up is that you lose the ability to hang out with your friends and do the stuff that you loved to do. The time you do get is fought for and cherished. I have been planning to go book shopping with a particular friend for WEEKS now. We just happened to be grocery shopping the other day in the South™   where I currently reside, and we were checking out the books in the small ass book section of the store. It was a hell of a shocker to discover two queer romances on the shelves. Not even a little defaced. Given a particular Barnes and Noble lawsuit, I’m actually really proud of the people around here for not being shitty. I bought the last copy of Telegraph club, and she bought the last copy of Aristotle and Dante. Featured here is my copy of Ari & Dante which I have had for awhile now. Anyway, what does this post have to do with celebration? Celebrate Serendipity. Celebrate doing stupid shit with friends you wish you had more time to spend with. Celebrate gay books in a conservative state’s grocery store. All the little things in life that would pass you by otherwise.
