🇬🇧 Character designs made for my 2D/3D team project, created for the afca festival (early January-early March 2025).

The cartoons (the line up and the turns/posings) are an adaptation of the characters from the festival poster for 2D animation.

The owl was designed by Maélys Delannoy for 3D animation. I only realized the technical turn.

When I was about 11 years old, I came across a show called Imagination Station on PBS. It had a catchy theme song with some early CGI and was hosted by a guy named Mark Kistler. His goal was to teach you how to “Draw 3D!” I already loved to draw, so it was easy for me to love this show (and frankly, much easier to follow along with than Bob Ross).  I learned so many principles of drawing from this guy, it blew my mind. There was a huge jump in my ability to construct characters and buildings. And the lessons always featured some wacky, crazy thing. A really cool thing was that Mark Kistler traveled around to host school assemblies. I got to see him at one when he visited my friend’s school. I even got to draw along on one of the chalkboards up front (the drawing was a long necked dinosaur, if I recall).   There was still a lot I had to learn about drawing (and frankly, there always will be), but this show launched me forward by leaps and bounds. I honestly don’t think I would have ended up where I am today if I hadn’t come across this show as a kid. So hey, Mark, if you see this, THANK YOU! You’re an awesome teacher!
