A few more of Alfie. I can’t seem to get out of the rut of shooting him with his face turned away, looking inquisitive.

Faceup, Soom Cass. This is only the second time I’ve painted her in the time that I’ve owned her, and this sculpt, man. This sculpt. It practically paints itself. There’s something about this face that makes my job easy. I went for a slightly more drawn and tired look this time.

Eye reshaping/resizing mod and faceup on Nell, my Migidoll Jina. I had previously done an eye mod on her, but the craftsmanship was a bit shoddy and the epoxy fell off when I was soaking her head to remove her previous faceup. It’s just as well, because I think this is closer to what I wanted her eye shape to look like anyhow, and it’s a more extensive mod that should be more structurally sound. It’s also not particularly obvious, but I sanded and reshaped chin, nose, and cheekbones slightly.

I recently moved, and before I did, I decided to shoot Alfie in the near-vacant room. I guess these shots aren’t wide enough for that to even really matter, but it felt like the right way to mark my passing from one space to another. For the past five or six years, I’ve moved every six months to a year, so spaces always feel temporary.

This set didn’t turn out super coherent, but it was an attempt at playing out the first meeting between Alfie and Nell.

Faceup on a 2009(?) DIM event head (specifics unknown). This one’s been in my collection for years as a practice head, but this is my first time painting her. She’s got much larger eyes than any other doll I own, so these 14mm eyes look a bit wonky on her.

Got these three back together in the same photo again! They’ve each had a major revamp in the past few months and I’m finally okay with how they look next to each other. It’s also weird taking photos of them this way because the three of them are never in the same place at the same time in their story.

I’ve had these flowers for something like two weeks, and they still haven’t wilted, which is impressive, I think? Here’s Alfie being a Sad Flower Lad or something like that.

Very rusty at this whole BJD photography thing, but here’s a quick shot from this afternoon to kick things off. Alfie is in desperate need of a new faceup.
