I'm honestly horrified to see people glorifying what that dude who was in the U.S. Air Force did outside of the Israeli embassy in Washington D.C.. I won't put his name in because I don't think he deserves more power from my abject horror and disgust.

This man livestreamed his own suicide by self immolation.

And why did he light himself on fire? Because apparently simply being alive in America is being complicit in genocide. Let that sink in. The simple act of breathing and putting one foot in front of the other and trying to fucking survive this world makes one complicit in genocide.

That is horse shit. His death doesn't do anything. Nothing is going to change in the world because this man is now dead. He took the miracle that is life and threw it away for what? So some people in far left groups will honor him and respect him as a martyr for 15 minutes until the next outrage comes along and they all forget about Palestine just as fast as they started caring about it?

Nah man. All this guy did was leave behind headlines that his loved ones will have to read. And maybe he traumatized some people on Twitch.

He didn't help any Palestinians. If someone wants to make the argument that he brought attention to the war, well then, they can make that argument. But I'd counter-argue that such an extreme action will scare more people away from his stance than will bring people to it. Neither argument is particularly quantifiable. So at the end of the day, we have one more death. That's it.

This is tragic and confusing and disgusting and hopeless and whole bunch of other words too.

What it is not is something to be celebrated and glorified.
