Ever played Dustforce? You play as a badass ninja janitor clearing dust from every nook and cranny of each level in various "biomes". I absolutely fell in love with the game. Soothing music, tough but fair game play, and lots of ways to challenge yourself.

Tempted to replay it already. $10 on Steam, check it out!

If I may be an unskippable cutscene for a moment, I want to explain why Dustforce is so interesting of a platformer, mechanically. (I mean I hope y'all already know it's music is phenomenal.)

But mechanically it's a weird platformer. Gravity is way weaker than you expect for a half second after jumping then it's way way stronger. I suspect they're doing something like gravity is a cubed force instead of the standard squared. And so the strategy of when to jump to clear gaps becomes less about gaining and keeping height, and more about choosing your timing to best avoid runaway gravity.

Pair this with unique mechanics to avoid having gravity apply at all. If you hold into a ceiling you run along it attached to the ceiling for a small amount of time. If you jump into a wall and hold into it, same deal. But you only get one ceiling run per time touching the ground and 1 wall run per double jump (of which you have exactly 1) so those wall and ceiling runs start to look like resources; Resources that you NEED to maximize in order to avoid gravity.

And it's just such a clever, puzzle-like platformer because of it. I adore it so much.
