The story of Kiver Jadetank:
As the 19th son of His Majesty King Vromm IX, Lord of Pebblespine, Kiver Jadetank is 19th in line for the Throne. He is unquestionably loyal to his father and to his eldest brother, Prince Groff III, Prince of Pebblespine & First of Equals .
Like all young noble dwarves who grew up in the kingdom of Pebblespine, Kiver did his rotation in the mines of Vin Maldir. While his mind learned the art of stone cutting, moving, placing, and carving, his heart was back in the great archives of Ruby Rock. His free time was spent in the royal library reading journals and stone tablets about the great architects and craftsman of the subterranean mansions hidden throughout the dwarven kingdoms.
During Kiver’s research he discovered the tale of King Baryl’s Jade Tank. Legend told of a divinely carved ale tank crafted by the Goddess Ulaa herself and gifted to King Bayrl almost 3,000 years ago. The tank had been stolen during a great orc invasion 2,500 years ago and then disappeared from history. While many dwarfs considered the tank a myth, Kiver spent five years researching the ancient battles with the orcs; learning all that he could. He measured the old tunnels while he was working to determine which route the orcs most likely moved the tank through. When he was ready, Kiver headed down into the deep, abandoned mines, armed with just his research and a cart full of expedition gear. After three weeks of searching, Kiver found the Jade Tank of King Baryl. Using his stone-moving knowledge of pulleys, leverage, and anchor-points Kiver was able to place the jade tank onto the cart and then spent the next two weeks (on an empty stomach) painstakingly dragging it up through the old tunnels and eventually wheeled it right into the Great Hall during a meeting of the High Council. He was a hero for a day. His father granted him the surname of Jadetank, and bestowed upon him the title of Vice-Duck & Master of Re-acquisition.
He was then given the book of the previous Master of Re-acquisition, Khirm, who had disappeared 100 years ago. As Kiver looked through the old documents he discovered an ancient sketch of King Bayrl’s Jade Tank. There had been a lid, and the lid was still missing. It was a perfectly round disk of solid jade and it measured three feet across. According to Khirm’s research, the lid had been taken by the Gouged Eye orc clan after they abandoned the Jade Tank (due to its massive size and weight.) The lid was kept by the Gouged Eye Clan for generations until it was stolen by an unknown human army. The lid moved south on a ship named The Antelope about 500 years ago. It has not been seen since.
With permission from his father, the High Council, and the blessing of the Seers of Ulaa, Kiver Jadetank was granted permission to undertake the finding and recovery of this lost artifact. He is on a quest to visit every museum, archive, ruin, and temple to research the Lid and accumulate as much information as possible. He also decided that he would catalog and record all of the Dwarven stonework he found on the surface throughout the realm and took a huge blank tome to record his research.
