Do you know if the HBO Max streams will affect the money Olivia makes for the movie? I don’t want to benefit her in any way.
Hi dear,
I'm not sure how the streaming revenue works, I *think* HBO agrees to pay the studio (and hence Olivia) a set sum to have the exclusive streaming rights to the movie for a set period of time. So I think the way it benefits Olivia is if it's a successful stream that attracts many views and new viewers to HBO. So that can influence how the network sees any future project of hers, and if they'd like to buy the streaming rights for those.
Once it hits streaming tho, you'll have HD free links you can use instead if you don't want to give her any sort of hype.
Again, I'm not sure if this is 100% how it works, but it's probably something along these lines.

For those people thinking DWD made a lot of money back. There is a reason WB hasnt released the financial break from DWD but did for Black Adam, their other movie released this year. A simple math going by Black Adam numbers gives perspective "With a global gross of $390M, a $195M production cost and a P&A spend between $80M-$100M, the Dwayne Johnson DC/New Line film is looking to net between $52M-$72M" twitter com/TheRock/status/1600589666683846656?t=sWps5Hgnvf_XXNEd1CZPhw&s=19 read the article
Oh, that’s a super interesting article. Thank you for sharing it! Clearly a DWD is nowhere in the vicinity of this film.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As a comparison to some of the things we were talking about in terms of the way DWD was marketed:
“There’s been some intense cost-crunching going on at Warner Bros Discovery, which is mired in debt and going through rounds of layoffs. Black Adam put the bulk of its spending in digital marketing over linear, teed off by Johnson’s massive social media bullhorn, which has a reach of nearly a half-billion followers across TikTok, Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.
Also factor in shorter theatrical windowson movies nowadays, which enables the studio to stretch their marketing dollars. PVOD for the film is hitting at a time when the pic is still in theaters and outdoor ads are still around. Black Adam is dropping on HBO Max on Dec. 16, after a 57-day window, a long-enough frame to maximize theatrical, PVOD and sellthrough dollars.

I remember how the next day after dwd release in theatres, shippers were on pr blogs “you see, you see, dwd is out and they are still together, they are real, you were wrong😌”. So eeem, they are over 2 weeks after it went to hbo max, even earlier then we expected, so we were even more right that we expected, and you are losers😂
Actually it’s crazy how obvious they are with the bua, he said no backend deal money, no honey😜
So on the plane to UAE they had HBOMax; dwd was not on there. They even had films that came out after dwd

More of the same, nothing new. I think another nanny story dropped today but again it was basically just reiteration of what we heard. It's all bullshit /
Yes it is bullshit, but also today was announce that DWD goes to streaming, you have to pay 25 usd. Who is gonna pay I dont know!!?? 💀
The streaming article dropped first, then the nanny update and the the blind. Coincidence? Nah!! 😂
💫
The $25 is for On Demand, I believe, through cable. I think it'll be more like $7 to rent on Amazon and iTunes (don't quote me though - it could be closer to $25 for all I know). But once it's on HBO Max, and possibly Apple TV, it should be free for those with a subscription.
But yeah $25 is still crazy lol I wouldn't spend that on any movie

I don’t think that any of us expected to see her walking with Xander but after how positively harries reacted to his presence on his shows and most of them, especially these who hate Olivia, loves Xander. So they paired her and Xander aka to show he supports her aka supports dwd aka go watch dwd. They are using all their actives to basically bully everyone to go watch dwd. It’s like they compensate the lack of support from the cast with the overdose of support from his surrounding aka so many friends of Harry love Olivia and dwd, why don’t you want to go watch it?😡 and it’s not me trying to justify this but reminding that promo is not over! It will be over when dwd goes to HBO max!
These people can’t read the room at all. But you’re right, it’s not over yet.

DWD Review *contains major spoilers
This is my official review of DWD I just got home and this might contain spoilers 🫢 Okay so I saw it with my bf who said when the movie started and I quote “Harry and Florence are in a lot of movies together. Like this and the Olivia Wilde movie?” and so of course I was like uh this is the Olivia Wilde movie and he replied with “this isn’t the movie where he plays a gay cop?” so that’s how that started.
Okay actual review time if anyone actually reads this: It was good! like a 3/5 for me! I’ll start with what I liked FLORENCE OMG she swept the floor with everyone else (sorry harry) she’s such an amazing actress and didn’t disappoint like the scene where Jack’s being promoted and they focus on her face and she’s crying omg she SLAYED!!! I’m also obsessed with the cinematography and the score they were so good. Harry did good!!! Like other people said there were scenes were it felt like I was watching Harry act and then scenes where I felt like I was watching jack and not Harry. I’m so excited for MP since I feel like he’ll do amazing in that! Gemma and Chris did so well too like they played evil so well the dinner scene with Gemma made me hate her character. I also liked Bunny she was fun comedic relief
Okay now for what I didn’t like or what confused me: stupid ending omg I hated it, I like resolution and it felt like either they didn’t know how to end it or wanted to set it up for a sequel but like I just at least wanted to see Alice wake up in the bed. I didn’t like how there was things they’d mention and then just never mention again or explain such as Margaret’s son wtf happened to him? Bunny’s kids in the real world? she just says she likes the fake world cause she can be with them like wtf happened to them? Did Shelley know the entire time? she just like kills frank then says it’s her turn so is she taking over or is she finding out it’s all fake too? the focus on planes like what does it mean? the “earthquakes” they weren’t actually working so what we’re they actually? Also it felt like there were things where you can tell olivia wants you to see the movie twice to be like “oooh that makes sense” like how the doctor asks jack “what’s it you brit’s say?” and jack doesn’t know what to say or how he says frank hates tuna but in reality current jack only eats tuna cause it’s all he can afford but like she placed them so far apart you forget to connect the dots. Genuinely if anyone has any insight or theories to the things I’m confused about I’d love to hear them!
okay that’s all! I’ll def rewatch it when it goes on HBO max in like Nov and thought it was fun and had such the potential to be the movie of the year but all the plot holes lost me 😔

It depends. Because usually it takes 45 days after its theatrical release for a movie to be added to hbomax streaming services. Now, with Elvis it took 70 days - I’m guessing its because it lasted in theaters more than other movies. But for dwd since it did not do THAT good in theaters it could probably he available at the 45day mark, although I read because the casting has big names they could probably wait 70 days to add it. Who knows tho we’ll see.
no, the question was about it being on prime vs hbo max

Florence Pugh Attends the 25th British Independent Film Awards
View this post on Instagram A post shared by Florence Pugh (@florencepugh) Florence Pugh attended the 25th British Independent Film Awards in London yesterday, December 4. The actress looked gorgeous as she rocked a Rodarte gown with Tiffany Co. jewelry. Pugh has had a big Fall with the release of two films, Don’t Worry Darling and The Wonder. DWD is currently streaming on HBO Max while The…

I was curious about how DWD was going to do once it was on streaming and it sounds like it’s performing pretty well on HBO Max so far, according to Deadline:
“Streaming stat sources tell us that the Olivia Wilde directed movie, Don’t Worry Darling, has pulled in roughly 2.7M households in both Smart TVs and mobile viewing in its first week on HBO Max.
The Florence Pugh-Harry Styles-Chris Pine movie hit HBO Max after a robust 53-day theatrical window and a global gross of $87M on Monday Nov. 7.”
Apart from HBO Max, the movie is also available as VOD on other streaming platforms, but I haven’t seen any figures for those.
Streamers are notorious for never giving reliable numbers anon. They just occasionally release things they think sound good. So the fact that they're releasing any numbers at all for DWD says it's doing quite well.
But it is also a reminder why all the discourse about DWD being a flop really misunderstands the current state of the industry.

Okay listen. I have both Prime video and HBO max. I’ve watched my policeman three times now and I STILL haven’t watched dwd. No lie, that woman has thoroughly and completely turned me off from watching anything she’s involved in. I can’t bring myself to watch it tbh 🤷‍♀️
Just skip her scenes bestie. She's not offering anything to the plot luckily, so you can skip her and not miss anything.
She still directed the whole thing though 🤡
