First designed in the late 50's, Panton kicked his creation into full production after perfecting the chair's design. He wanted a lightweight, stylish and stackable chair that could be manufactured in a variety of different colors. Fast forward 60 years... Guess how much an original design cost??? Well... #TBT (GRANDMOM’S HOUSE) ~ Big emphasis on GRANDMOM and NOT Grandma. Gloria Ruth would have had a fit if she thought I was calling her Grandma. She specifically didn’t want to be called that and made it clear she wasn’t THAT old. Being about 6 years shy of her age when she said that to little old me years ago… I totally get it now!!! Heading up the stairs to the first level of her and GRANDPOP’S split level was an old console stereo unit that found a new life as a holiday card holder, snack server for the holidays and a bunch of other things. Given her perfect use of a dark canvas and sparse pops of color, Pati has truly created an oasis worth ranting about in her 840 sq ft apartment. It became such a tradition to decorate the tree on Christmas Eve that doing it any earlier would have seemed strange. We would put on the Jackson 5 Christmas album and the Mowtown Christmas classics on the stereo and get lost in the season. It was that magical moment when my family finally got in the true spirit. #TRUESTORY ~ Crushed Velvet… Reminiscent of the 70’s. When my mother graduated college with her Bachelors in Education (Morgan State College) she decided to treat herself to a brand new Ford Mustang Ghia. Ford had just introduced a new color combination… silver with burgundy crushed velvet interior and shag carpet to match. The new style bucket seats were tufted, auto recline… the works. At the time that joint was fire. It had the works… Expect for one thing!?!? My do-it-all dad decided to sport it out with the missing pin stripes Ford forgot to add…
