I took it on myself to be a good little hungarian and do a research (three google searches) about what Krolock would have worn as a nobleman in Erdély in the 17th century (i think thats the canon century they were alive-alive in???) and drew it, i have no idea what is on his head, are those feathers? Is that fabric? I copied a watercolor drawing so I have no idea

But what I know is 5 notes on this thing and I'll draw a thirst trap of him in this fit

Also I (tried and kinda failed to) base his head on Egyházi Géza who is one of the two amazing actors playing Krolock in the hungarian production (other one is Bot Gábor who I saw back in June and was GREAT) I'm genuinely inlove with his voice and his stage presence 😭

I'm pretty sure he is the one on the recording in the CD/Spotify version and guys istg i'm not into middle aged men BUT HIS VOICE grrrr THE WAY HE SINGS DIE UNSTILLBARE GIER OR THE WAY HE TALKS DURING THE ACT1 FINALE IM IN LOVE

Whose version of Graf Von Krolock is your favorite？

TL;DR I don’t have a definite winner, but my top three are Łukasz Dziedzic, Egyhazi Geza and sorta Alexander Sukhanov.

Oh my. That’s one of the toughest questions ever. I do have enormous amount of sentiment when it comes to Lukasz Dziedzic - Polish Graf. He has such a magical voice. But, like I’ve said, it’s mostly sentiment and the fact that Polish Tanz was my introduction to this crazy story. 

I mean, how can you not love these brows? They have a life of their own. Also this Graf looks like he’s heavily hungover most of the time. I’m all for party animal Krolock.

But I can’t wholeheartedly say that this is my favourite Graf ever. While Polish version is lovely and it brought many new, exciting elements to Tanz, like my absolutely favourite vampire outside from main cast - Lady with The Ship:

but it premiered over ten years ago and many new great things have happened for Tanz since then (Hungarian version

Speaking of Hungarians (and getting back to the subject) - Egyházi Géza stole my heart when I saw him live. 

He’s goofy, he’s scary, he’s dramatic and ridiculously over the top. Also, he actually looks like a proper Graf and not some spring chicken (I do love that wig with grey hair). For me he has all the right mannerisms and characteristics of Graf von Krolock (and that voice! it’s breathtaking).

I do have a soft spot for Alexander Sukhanov - a ‘bully’ Graf as I like to call him. While he’s not that ‘aristocratic’ looking and isn’t this classical depiction of Graf to me, I do like him. He’s precious. Like an odd, but still cute puppy, that sticks out of the bunch of puppies, but you still love him.

I was listening to the Hungarian chess album and noticed something. During Molokov and Florence, Molokov always mispronounces Florence's name in someway and she always corrects him with the American/English pronouncation (Flor-ince)

Well in Hungarian Chess the same happens but Molokov mispronounces it the American/English way (Flor-ince) and she corrects him with Flor-once, which is what I presume is the Hungarian way of pronouncing it

Funny this changes the whole meaning of this. Originally he mispronounces it in more of what I presume is supposed to be the Russian/Eastern European way to connect with her as being "a fellow Eastern European" but she rebuked him and goes with the English way as she is a Hungarian that was forced out of her country as a kid by "a fellow Eastern European" and grew up in an environment with her name pronounced the English/American way

BUT with this change the way I interpret it as that Molokov says it the English way assuming she identifies with the English/American way after growing up in that environment with that pronouncation but by her correcting him with the (presumably) Hungarian way she takes back her Hungarian identity that was stolen from her by war

Az antik világban a T betűre emlékeztető formájú lator-kereszt a rabszolgák kivégzésének eszközévé vált. Ezt vonszolta Jézus is kálváriája során, s ez a forma ragyogott fel 3 évszázaddal később I. A kereszt az egyház szempontjából összetett tartalmakat közvetít, mint a szeretet áldozatát. A hívő számára emlékeztet, hogy valaki velük van, aki elviselte az elviselhetetlent, és erőt nyújt a megpróbáltatásokhoz. A művészet számára a kereszt a hit és hódolat kifejezője. A népi kultúrában a vallásosság és babonás hiedelmek határán jelenik meg rítusokban, bajelhárításban vagy amulettként.

Pillantsunk most vissza régiónk egy-egy izgalmas régészeti leletére a kereszténység kezdeti történetének idejére, valamint az Árpád-kor időszakára.

Balta alakú csüngők

A kereszténység megjelenésével egy időben, a Római Birodalom határain túl, a pogány vallásosságot reprezentálták az úgynevezett balta alakú csüngők. A mai Alföld területén a Kr. u. 2. századtól egészen az 5-6. századig különböző formában fellelhető tárgyat a szarmata és germán népek is előszeretettel viselték. A leggyakrabban egy kisméretű, fémből készült, egy-, vagy kétélű, széles fejű baltát formázott, amit általában a fokon átfűzve hordtak a nyaknál, vagy a csuklónál. Valószínűleg bajelhárító szerepe volt, de összefügghetett még az időjárással, földműveléssel és termékenységgel is. Eredete valószínűleg hellenisztikus gyökerű, nagyon hasonló tárgyak a Hercules buzogányok is, a germán hitvilág ezt átvette a saját szájíze szerint, így lett belőle balta, illetve kalapács és a mennydörgő Donár, vagy más néven Thor szimbóluma.

11. századi mellkereszt

A honfoglalás előtti magyarság hitvilága a sámánizmuséhoz volt hasonlatos, azonban a Kárpát-medencébe érkezésük előtt, vándorlásuk során -más vallási irányzatok mellett – már találkoztak a kereszténységgel is. Ezek egyes elemei beépültek hitvilágukba is. Letelepedésük után, mint ismeretes, már Géza fejedelem elkezdte a magyarság kereszténység felé terelését, fia, Szent István király pedig kialakította az egyházi intézményrendszert. Hazánkban azonban még ezek után is párhuzamosan éltek tovább a pogány hagyományok, többek között a babonákban, temetkezési rítusokban és ékszerekben. A kora Árpád-kori Sály-Lator, Örsúr- vára lelőhelyen 2014-ben előkerült balta alakú csüngő is ezt a párhuzamos vallásosságot bizonyítja. A keresztek megjelenése a sírokban még nem jelentette azt, hogy a benne fekvő elhunyt valóban keresztény volt, mivel mellkeresztek a honfoglalás és államalapítás korában gyakran még ékszerként, amulettként szolgáltak, nem, mint vallási jelképként. Ezt alátámasztja az is, hogy gyakran egyértelműen pogány rítusú temetkezésben találják a feltárók. Nem kerülnek elő túl nagy számban még a már biztosan keresztény temetők sírjaiból sem, így viseletük nem volt túl elterjedt. Az S-végű hajkarikák és a félhold alakú csüngők sokkal gyakoribbak. A kereszténység államilag elrendelt felvétele és a hittérítők hatására később kezdett fokozatosan, már valóban a Megváltó szenvedésének jeleként megjelenni a temetkezésekben.

Rásonysápberencs- Szőlő alja lelőhelyen 2014-ben ásatás során szórványként előkerült 11. századi, apró mellkereszt

A Rásonysápberencsen talált kereszt tipológiai besorolás szerint azok közé tartozik, melyeket még leginkább bajelhárító célból viseltek.  Egyszerű, lapos, ónból öntött, díszítetlen kereszt. A párhuzamok alapján a 11. század második felére keltezhető, de már a 10. századot megelőzően az avarokhoz köthető leletanyagban is felbukkannak hasonló darabok.

You guys. Sorry, I have to stop here a little. WHO THE FUCK CASTED THIS. And no, I don't mean it in a bad way as all these people are fantastic, but let's look at the ages a little.

Between Lady C and Juliet, there are 9 years. Between Lady M and Lady C, 26 years. Between the Nurse and Lady C, 13 years. And (hold on to your seats) between Lady C and Lord C, 45 YEARS!! No, I'm not kidding. ACTUAL FORTY-FIVE YEARS. I'm sure this is gonna work out one way or another but it kinda fucked with my mind. Anyway, let's continue.

Prince Escalus: Egyházi Géza (Apparently RésJ as Paris, Der Tanz der Vampire, Les mis, Cats, and I'm quite fucking sure I know this guy from somewhere but I can't remember where)

So, this is it, you guys. Go ahead, do your research, pick it apart, discuss it, while I'm trying to get my head around it a little. But I'm sure it's gonna be great whatever way. And if not so much... it's just one show after all. But I've never been disappointed in Hungarian casting.

So I wrote this down and forgot to do it as a reblog but I'm too lazy to insert every picture again, so here is my experience with the og vienna cast recording on spotify👍 (only act1 because you'll see how much I wrote just about that)

disclaimer(ish)? I wrote every opinion while, or immediately after listening to a song, so a lot of the times I go back and correct myself, or change my opinion, but hey atleast it's authentic. Also I compare it a lot to the hungarian recording because I heard that dozens of times and that's what I am used to.

Enjoy I guess, this is a long one!

Overture: Great 10/10 i love it in every language, has a bit different vibe than the hungarian version with more bass, I like both👍

He ho he: I actually *really* enjoyed that! Alfred has a nice voice that reminds me of Héger Tibor who is my favourite Alfred so thats great 10/9 only because I prefer the edge the hungarian version has to it its just a teeny tiny bit more sharp imo, and for me nothing tops the mic peaking scream Alfred lets out there. But overall amazing so far!

Knoblauch: Fhuuuu lot to unpack here for me. I'm definitely getting used to the german, which I don't here a lot of in a daily basis becasue hehe Hungary, but I'm trying to not view it as strange therefore bad, it has a lot of great moments but I'm used to the flow of hungarian. Now, I really don't know how to feel about professor right now. If you have seen my page, I *LOVE* hungarian professor, but so far.. I don't love this version. Alfred is still cute tho, but I miss his dumb little laugh when he says the line about Magdas breasts, somehow that made me like him even more. Also, Chagal. I have a mixed but mostly positive relationship with him in the hungarian, he has a very fun way of singing changing his range all the time, but so far he irritates me sorry😅 But yeah 10/7, Knoblauch 👍

Bitte meine Herren: LOVE ALFRED, starting to like professor👍This is a kind of a nothing number because it's mostly dialouge but yeah very solid 10/8

Eine schöne Tochter: Man I really don't like Chagal😭 Just the way he sings triggers something deep ick in me. Funnily enough the hungarian version is one of my favourite songs so just for that 10/5

Ein Mädchen, : ALFRED ❗❗ IN MY BED❗❗NOW❗❗ I love his voice😭😭. Sarah is also really great, professor and chagal are...ehhh..there. Rebecca *chef kiss* And the chorus whaaaaaaa 10/10 👍👍

Gott ist tot: I....i actually prefer Egyházi Géza sorry. I knew going in that I'm going to be very biased for Egyházi Géza because well...yes. But while I didn't dislike the song, I actually liked it, nothing tops his performance for me. The hungarian version is more...what is the right word.. soft? Flowy? Really hard to explain because I'm not an expert but to me german is a harsher sounding language than hungarian and because they are both from different language families, it's hard for me to relate to something so different. This doesnt mean the german version is bad❗❗I love the chorus part it's very eerie, maybe even more than the hungarian but I still prefer that over this. Regardless 10/8👍

Alles ist hell: Love love love the start 😭 Koukol I...don't like so far but for me he really peaks in act2 so all I'll say is please don't wheeze into my ears 10/8 for the wheezing

Warheit: Yeah uh...I don't like professor. It's a very delicate matter because essentially he sings the same way as hungarian professor but **something** is missing that makes him lovable in my eyes. Also just singing "logic" is weird for me, and for that I actually prefer the hungarian lyrics which is "Ténytől tényig, ez visz az igazságig- From fact to fact this leads to the truth" but thats really not something I can complain about. I love when the others starts singing too, it really elavates the whole number to a 10/8 jegercsik csaba hit that high note better imo

Du bist wirklich sehr nett: I prefer Héger Tibor here. Somehow he captured that exact tone of being terrified but also infatuated with Sarah (and my actual flirting skills) for me nothing beats his "goodnight" at the start. Sarah is great and I really enjoy her so far so this is a strong 10/9 for me 💪

Red boots: the start is way rougher in hungarian, and that i prefer, but the instrumental part is just as mindblowingly beautiful to me in both versions so I already give it 10/10 just for that👍 Also I'm easing up to Krolock, it might have been the Gott ist tot song that I didn't enjoy because this is beautiful! Still prefer hungarian but at this point are you even surprised I just really like the hungarian version

Prayer: Beautiful 10/10 without question. I love Alfred joining in, I heard it louder in the hungarian version, here I don't know if he even joins in but he probably does so I love that here too👍👍 Also in this i really enjoyed Krolock and Sarah

Tot zu sein ist komisch: Now I actually don't really care for this song in hungarian so I was pleseantly surprised here. Now this is a song german suits better imo so just for that it gets a 10/10 because I finally fully enjoy the song. But its also multiple songs soooo

The chase of Chagal: I want to know what professor and Alfred say. Does professor give an F to Alfred for messing up the ribs? Do they joke around? I need to know. Alfred you are doing amazing I love you sweetie <3 10/9

Durch die Wildnis zum Schloss: very solid 10/10 💪💪 I'll never forget when I saw it in live and heard the door open behind us, so I turned around and we stared at eachother with the guy in vampire costume like this 👁👄👁 then he did some slutty dance moves infront of us and exited and for that I respect him

Vor dem Schloss: Krolock loves yapping and is definitely not a vampire guyssss hes just emoo..This Krolock is growing on me slowly but surely but still egyházi géza grrr..

I miss the loud BOO Krolock does but we can't have it all, professors voice still gives me the ick, I like the singing but not the plain dialouge, HOWEVER
