MERE TEVAR MEIN HAI TEHZEEB KI RANGEEN RANGOLI JAISE JAISE HO EID MEIN HOLI
☾♔; April 12, 2024 ☾♔; 2:17pm ☾♔; sotd: Do Pal from Veer-Zaara ☾♔; cotd: Keira Parvis ☾♔; Thistle Grove Academy ☾♔; Fuck if I know what this is
𝐓𝐢𝐭𝐥𝐞: lyrics from "First Class" from Kalank, ya know Kalank gets a lot of unfair shit. it's not a bad movie, and quite a few of the songs slap. and the sets and costumes were immaculate too!
yeah, this is not gonna be my set for the event, it's so shit. I hate it. In my defense, it's been busy with the end of ramadan and eid, I've literally just been lurking and the thots did not thunk, so mess vess. definitely gonna remake it, already tried like 5 different times since yesterday, but it was not working. if you see me reusing the outfit, no you don't.

Stuff I'm Looking Forward To in April
Welcome to the 2nd quarter of 2024! In addition to April Fools Day (April 1), Eid al-Fitr (April 9-10), Patriots Day / Marathon Monday (April 15 in MA), Tax Day (April 15), Earth Day (April 22), Passover (April 22-30), Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day (April 24) and there's also a solar eclipse on April 8, here is what's on my radar this month:
Movies:
Coup de Chance
Not sure if I'm "looking forward to this", but I'm curious about Woody Allen's new one as he has hinted this would be his last. Whatever your opinion is of Woody Allen, as a filmmaker he has made some solid films. Opens 4/5.
Civil War
Alex Garland has had a mixed bag as a writer/director with Ex Machina being his best so far. His new one has been creating quite a buzz about a dystopian not-so-far future where journalists try to make it to D.C. before rebels descend on the White House. No coincidence this is being released during an election year. Opens 4/12 (review to come).
Challengers
What got my attention about this tennis drama wasn't star Zendaya, director Luca Guadagnino or the score from Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. It's the fact that it was filmed in Massachusetts and more specifically it filmed a little in Bedford, where I grew up. Opens 4/26 (review to come).
Music:
Pearl Jam Dark Matter
Pearl Jam's 12th studio album is finally year. The band's last album was 2020's Gigaton, which I noted was their best album since their 2006 self-titled album. I'm digging what I've heard so far and hopes are high for this one! Album drops 4/19. (Review to come).
Bruce Springsteen Best of Bruce Springsteen
The Boss has released a number of compilations over the years, his 1995 Greatest Hits being among my favorites. Now there's a new compilation with 18 hits ranging from 1973 to 2020. Album drops 4/19 (review to come).
St. Vincent All Born Screaming
St. Vincent is back with her 7th studio album. This one features appearances by numerous guests including Dave Grohl and Josh Freese of Foo Fighters. Album drops 4/26.
TV:
Curb Your Enthusiasm finale
I've been enjoying Season 12 of Larry David's social assassin. This is the final season (or so they say) and the season/series finale is set to air on HBO on 4/7. End of an era!
Conan O'Brien Must Go
I'm a huge fan of Conan O'Brien, going back to Late Night with Conan O'Brien (read my memories of attending his show here) and since then he's bounced back from the Tonight Show debacle with a great run on TBS and his fun podcast. Now he's back with a travel show meeting fans all over the world! Series premiere on 4/18 on Max!
Fake Holidays:
Record Store Day
The day we celebrate independently owned and operated record stores is one of my favorite holidays of the year! It's on 4/20 this year!
Independent Bookstore Day
Not to be outdone, independent bookstores get their day of celebration on 4/27.
Film Festivals:
Salem Horror Fest
I have been lucky enough to cover this genre film festival in Salem, MA since 2018. This year they are hitting some venues beyond Salem as well. Fest runs from 4/25 to 5/5!

Monkey Movie from The Animation Workshop on Vimeo.
The thick canopy blocks most sunlight, often taken by monkeys higher in the hierarchy. Suddenly, a fallen dead monkey disrupts the darkness. Monkeys gather, including Vervet with a small glass, playing with light. But monkeys higher up block the new ray. While others scatter, Vervet persists, fighting for a spot in the sun. Despite early victories, he realizes he's in over his head.
Monkey Movie is an animation short film by students of ANIM20 at The Animation Workshop. The team worked on the film throughout their studies, and it is now released as part of their graduation in 2024.

Chapter 12 : Pooh & Resolutions
Bringing back Pooh after months and that too on the last day of the year! Sounds like a Khan movie release on Diwali or Eid! LOL! Jokes apart, Pooh was lost in the vicious circle of life in the past year…Was she passing through life or life was passing by her…not sure….but she was still breathing and may be just hibernating….Now she is waking up and let’s hope she does some good before snoozing away again ;)
Coming back to business, isn’t it that time of the year when you hear words like Resolutions and Goals, the most? Seriously, world now needs some new vocabulary for a new year! The emotional pressure these words create is unimaginable. Everyone is under the burden to identify unique new year resolutions and boast about them in social media or to their gang or anybody who gives a fcuk about it!
Pooh isn’t different from others in this and hence I have been thinking and thinking and thinking about what should be my resolutions for 2024. And during this ‘storming-of-the-brain’ process, I came to many realizations (oh yes! I am a saint now! #sarcasm)
Aren’t there already so many problems, issues, to-do items in my bucket, waiting for me to act upon, that I need to add another to the list! Why should I be spending so much of my precious brain (as very little of it is left now) for such a superficial thing. Yes, resolutions are superficial, unless you act upon them or at least have the intention to act! I shouldn’t be needing to think so much about my resolutions. Resolutions shouldn’t be made just in the beginning of a new year and then forgotten before the end of the first week. Real Resolutions, or rather Effective Resolutions, are those that our brain makes instantly, on any day, any time of the year. It can be made while taking an early morning dump or while eating popcorn during an action movie or unconsciously in your dreams…It can hit you any day any time and these are the resolutions which count coz they are meant to be! So, peeps there is no pressure to have resolution(s) identified by tomorrow. Take your time and if no resolution comes to you, then also it’s not a problem at all. May be your life is already in the right course, so enjoy it to the fullest!!
In the past year, I have realized that physical well-being is important but mental well-being is the most important and most of us are struggling here! Some of us know this, some of us aren’t aware while some of us do not take it seriously. I am no spiritual guru or psychologist, but what I can share is my personal experience. Peeps, do not shy away from these mental and emotional issues, if any! It is no longer a social stigma (and even if it were, to hell with the society)! Face your problems, accept it that they are there and seek help. Help of a professional or a friend or a relative or a religion or a cult or anything which works for you. But do not ignore it. If we do not help ourselves, then no one else can. Also human mind is most complex and same formula doesn’t work for all. Do not look at other’s solutions, to find yours. Find your own solution, your own path. It isn’t easy, there is no damn shortcut here, so brace yourself and start this ‘treasure hunt’ and am sure you would find most valuable treasures in this journey!
I am quite sure, you guys might be thinking why is Pooh being so serious. It is just that a candle loses nothing by lighting another candle. I am on my treasure hunt and may be I have a very long journey ahead, but if my words can help someone to find their hidden treasure, just right off the corner, then it would make me the most happiest and would give me the power to move ahead on my path, searching for my destiny!
Signing off on this note today i.e. last day of 2023, with the hope for an awesome 2024 for all of us! Let us all try to be fitter, mentally and emotionally (and physically of course), and rest will be taken care of! Love Yourself! Aim for the stars and, who knows, your earth might find it’s sun!! Ttyl!
