I’m building boards on pinterest for Hawksbane aesthetics and I’m suddenly realizing I’m writing high fantasy dark academia, rip

#like #it's not #but it is lmao #also it's fun cuz a couple of them you can vaguely tell based on aesthetic who they would've been if I'd kept this as critical role fic #but the other two are just like unrecognizable lmao #also changed diame's name to fealina cuz I did not like diame #(it'd work in film where you pronounce it but it'd always be butchered in print #and I like fealina more I think)#the two who you might be able to point out if you knew are coria and fealina #but the two who are unrecognizable are ari and lylan lmao #also the reoren and elacria vibes are so nice #aaaaand that's as far as I've gotten #gotta make some kind of character intros this week tbh #so I'm ready for sunday

doing some sketching while I am sitting on my hands trying not to start Hawksbane before November 1st and this is a very basic version of the house they're staying, but I really like its design!

it's an Elacrian diplomatic residence that Ari has access to—most Elacrian houses have a tower or a water wheel or both, so they made themselves at home. the lighthouse is mostly ornamental, but the water wheel does generate a bit of power for the house.

the house sits over the coast a few miles up the peninsula from Gargon, on the sea side rather than the harbor, as Elacrians are far more at home in the elements than those native to Reoren, who primarily live inland along the rivers or on the inner coast of the harbor, as the coast along the exterior of the Grasping Claw Peninsulas is extremely rocky and weathers harsh storms—much like Elacria, so that house is bolted into that cliff.
