I'm sure I'm missing a lot more but those similarities between Rei and Shoku are just off the top of my head. But what I like about their similarities is how complete opposite they are as well

Shoku is flashy, loud, and friendly, and his history is full of fire.

Rei is subdued, composed, and hard to warm up to, and his life is full of ice.

I thought I was into Rei for his voice since the cold types have never been something I clicked with. But the more boxes that he checked from Shoku's side, the worse I had it for him. That, and I've found a lot of similarities/compatibilities between Rei's personality/tastes and my own so he's really made an impact on me

I like the idea of Caleb being both Zayne's best man and also the one to walk MC down the aisle and hand her over to him. Caleb is the closest thing to family she has, other than Grandma and Zayne himself, and I like it as a symbol of him having no hard feelings against either of them

I would SEVERELY require Raf's assistance for everything, especially picking out colours, but considering my aesthetic is pretty much Xav's, he'd be part of the decorating team too

Sentimental sappy bullshit but

Listening to Rei's stories is so healing for me. Mostly because of Satou Takuya's voice.

Rei does mean a lot to me but so does his voice, stemming back many, many years. His name may be new to me, but the soul of his voice is not.

I may have known Rei as Rei for only 42 days (even longer if you count the drip marketing pre-release), but for over 9 years, my heart has been conditioned to be so receptive to his voice that he managed to skip a lot of steps and speedrun his way into being one of only two characters to ever carve his own place in my heart and permanently make a mark on me.

It only took him a week, if I recall correctly.

I don't love him just because of his voice. His voice only opened the door for me. His voice is a warm, outstretched hand for me to take. And it's a familiar, cozy blanket that he wraps over my shoulders as he welcomes me to learn about him, enjoy his character, and imagine a world with him by my side.

Rei may be a new comfort character, but going to his stories to listen to his voice is like coming home for me.

It's been 9 years since I've first latched on to one of Satou's characters but Tourabu only gives us crumbs of Shoku's voice.

But there's plenty of Rei here, in the form of comfort, devotion, adoration, romance...

I hope Papergames / Infold listens to their playerbase and actually makes the changes to keep the game alive for many years to come because

I've finally found a new home

And I don't want to lose it so soon

Rei obsession level: It took me two days of actively trying to catch this voiced line again but I needed it on my blog to make a point

When I first heard it, it completely caught me off guard and this is probably gonna be the final nail in the coffin for me

Why? Because my ultimate bias says something similar

At this point, I've just been projecting my love for Shoku onto every Satou Takuya character lmao. But Rei's something else. And he definitely stands out as someone who will be on my husbando list for a long time

Even though their personalities are so different, them converging on this type of line just. Does critical damage to my heart

Even though Rei's more subdued and Shoku's a lot flashier, their wardrobes kinda converge too lmao. All that black formal attire

Shoku's not going anywhere as my ultimate bias and he will always be my #1, but Rei's definitely in my top 3 now

And it's been 5 days

Thinking about Shoku and Rei again

Like, I would be happy with one of them. But both? That would be like. My own personal heaven

I'd probably get lectured a lot from both sides but lmao

Everything else, every single thing I'd ever need, they'd cover and take care of

I don't know how looking at that screenshot of Rei holding takoyaki out to you triggered this thought but yeah

Putting Shoku in Linkon would be fine but putting Rei in the citadel would be even better

Did the personality chemistry thing with Shoku and Rei

I fluctuate between ISFP and ISTJ depending on how much energy I have but I think my resting default personality is closer to ISTJ. If I really did live with Shoku though, he’d definitely put me in ISFP more often

ESFJ for Shoku because he’s definitely more extro than intro, sensing and judging because he makes sure everything is in order when he goes out (especially to battle), and feeling because he is the citadel’s heart, aside from the saniwa, and he’d go out of his way to help everyone

Rei is basically just a more intense version of me lmao. Intro is a given. Sensing over intuition is a given, even when he’s not a man of science. Thinking over relationships is a given, except when it comes to one person. And although he can be flexible with his activities, he would definitely be one to plan things out well in advance

I don’t see these personality types as being more real than horoscopes, but it’s fun to see how the compatibilities match up

Shoku would be good with me either way. We’d be chill when I’m tired/in my default mode, but he’d be able to hype me up and bring out the more social side of me

Rei and me would just be chill the entire way through, until I get more energetic. I can picture him just tolerating me when I’m being a brat towards him lol

Shoku and Rei would get along just fine too, given me and Rei have the same personality type

Their main common ground? Shoku trying to convince him that he can still wear his regular suits, but it doesn't hurt to wear something a little flashier too. Rei admittedly doesn't know much about fashion (Vday event), so he'd take his advice, if it means that he'd be more appealing to one person :')

Their second common ground would be cooking tbh. They'd both learn recipes and techniques from each other. And maybe Rei could teach him and the rest of the citadel how to fix themselves up more properly

Rei: You dress a wound up pretty well for a sword

Rambling about Shoku and Rei again

Had like deja vu scrolling through twitter and seeing the jp fandom refer to Rei jokingly as a mother because he takes care of mc

Because they did the same trope with Shoku

And I know I made a whole list of similarities they have in my eyes, but the fact that they keep being treated the same way in different fandoms kinda just slaps me in the face and screams “this is your type” no matter how different they seem on the surface

(And I know the english fandom turns that whole mother trope into something else that comes close to a squick for me but… I do stand adjacent to that. And I do headcanon both of them as taking that role. I just drop the term and take the overarching role)

Even the fact that a lot of the swords go to Shoku for help, advice, etc, and is seen as the “reliable one to go to” could be transferred over to Rei since… yeah he’s a doctor and he’s always taking care of MC so she and other people will always go to him when they need someone to rely on

I always had an idea of the type of guy that would be my ideal but both Shoku and Rei just constantly solidify these characteristics… and make it impossible for me to find a guy irl that inhabits those characteristics

Because a reliable guy who takes care of you and has your best interests at heart?

Yeah, that’s only a fantasy

And the thing that kinda throws my brain out of whack is that I'm so used to hearing Shoku's voice randomly play from my computer

And I have to remember that it's LADS, not Tourabu that's open right now

They're voices aren't a 100% match, but when the volume is down, Rei's underlying vocal tones just trigger the part of my brain that expects to see Shoku
